i'm with /u/ask_for_a_nudie ...don't trim. Just brush. If you're going to trim, buy a nice pair of hair cutting scissors and snip gently in the mirror. That way, you know exactly how much is coming off. All you need is some half assed barber in a bad mood who shaves you lopsided.

I'm using this guy that I found cheaper on Ebay. Excellent scissor. And as for how I did it, I just combed it downwards and tried to snip things that stood out from the middle and outwards, a little peice at a time careful not to cut too much by accident. The thing is, when I look myself in the mirror I see stray hairs that stick out and to me it looks anything but even, but others that aren't as close up to me as I am have no idea.
These ones! They're for baby hair but babies can't really appreciate how cute they are so I will just steal them.
