For metal minis there are typically two generally types of solutions.
For instance, I'm magnetizing my Star Wars Legion models this way.
I'm using this 13x13 container with has 4" tall "levels":

I'm using this 12x12 sheet:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000W6ZMQY/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
The sheet drops right in, I've secured it with some double-sided tape or you can use glue or whatever. Then I put 6x2mm magnets on the bottom of each figure. You'd want to check the Infinity bases to make sure how thick a magnet will fit the recess but basically that's the process. Metal minis are heavier so you might want a slightly bigger magnet or perhaps two smaller ones. There are probably recommendations online somewhere.
It's fairly cheap, very expandable, and should be able to hold nearly any game.
Looks amazing, and I bet it feels great. What you should do is get a Christmas tree bag like this. They are big enough, and you can breath inside of it, of course.
If it's anything like Onslaught 2: flip the insert upside down, put plastic bags of cultists and monsters on top wherever they fit, push the insert up into the bottom of the box, and while keeping it pressed into the bottom, flip every thing right side up.
Then put the GOOs into the insert. Put the cards and tokens on top, board and rulebook on top of that.
Or just buy a cheap Xmas ornament holder from Amazon and put all of your minis in there. That's what I ended up doing. This is the one I bought: Snapware Snap 'N Stack Square 3-Tier Seasonal Ornament Storage Container, 13 by 13-Inch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FXLTSI6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_qZJNDbNGMSMDV
(It used to be cheaper, you might find a $20 alternative)
i never take everything with me now. Only the one faction that I need for a game. I grew tired of carrying everything as it so bulky.
for storage at home, I put all the ships on display on a bookshelf. Looks good and each faction has its own shelf.
For travel I use an [Ornament Box] (https://www.amazon.com/Snapware-Seasonal-Ornament-Storage-Container/dp/B00FXLTSI6/ref=sr_1_20?ie=UTF8&qid=1481564950&sr=8-20&keywords=ornament+tray) that is 3 levels. then I custom made my trays with foam core. everything is snug and does not move. Took a few hours of time while watching tv to make it but its perfect.

Or, you know, buy vision cages or something. You only have two snakes.
I've built all kinds of cages and furniture for snakes, lizards, fish, rodents. I really would stress that PVC connecting sliding bins would be a failure point without substantial bulkheads. Tub plastic is brittle and doesn't get less so over time. Any cutout that is less than perfect will result in cracks/splits in the plastic over time, and that time would be very short if you're applying force to them. You're free to do whatever you want though.
I'm done commenting on herpetoculture posts. Good luck with your hot glue. It doesn't stick to PVC unless you buy specific kinds, but you upvoted that answer and downvoted mine because you wanted to hear it.
I'm using Snapware Snap 'N Stack. Each one can house up to 48 figures and the top stack is capable of holding the larger/taller Disney Infinity figures.
I agree- ornament storage boxes work great. We've used them for years and they take up far less space than our older storage method. We have ones that are similar to this.
https://www.amazon.com/Snapware-Seasonal-Ornament-Storage-Container/dp/B00FXLTSI6/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=Christmas+ornament+storage&qid=1563567741&s=gateway&sr=8-3
We can see what's in it and have used them for many years without anything getting broken while in storage (we did have an ornament get broken last year after leaving storage but that wasn't the box's fault, haha).
have you tried something like a christmas ornament storage box (something like this)? you'd likely fit 2 well-wrapped bottles per compartment (rather than just one), but it's the first thing that popped to my head for your specs.

I'll chip in ...

You could get one of these Christmas tree containers.
