Alright my man. Since you have such a low budget ($700) but don't want your apartment to look like crap, your best bet is going to be minimalism. You're in a great sub for minimalist inspiration. Take this recent post, for example. Not everyone was super impressed, but I'd say he did pretty good for a budget of $195. At the very least we can say with 100% certainty that it looks better than the average undergrad apartment.

I took the liberty of checking out the Halifax craigslist offerings and they are far and few between. However, I did find a potentially decent desk: see here. You might be able to haggle down the price a little with some luck. Otherwise, you might want to look at Amazon for desks (example 1 and example 2). For a desk chair, you could look at Amazon, but you might be better off going somewhere local (even if you go to Walmart) because you want to make sure a desk chair is going to be comfortable.

For a mattress, I'd again suggest Amazon. I'm just not sure you're going to find any better deals than what they have to offer. Mattress buying also involves a lot of personal preference, but "big box" mattress stores are incredibly overpriced. It seems that memory foam mattresses (such as this) are the most inexpensive, so I would look around Amazon to see what you think you'll like. I think I saw a mattress for as little as $99.^(though personally, I'm not sure I'd trust it...) Keep in mind that you will either need (a) a box spring and bed frame or (b) a platform bed in addition to the mattress. With your budget, a platform bed will probably be your best bet. You can even get one with a "headboard" for pretty cheap (the headboard will definitely up your apartment's style a little bit and keep it further away from "garbage apartment of undergrad" level): see here and here.

Alright, I'll break down what we've done so far. I'm in the US and don't know that much about Canadian dollars, so I'm doing this in USD - hopefully it's close:

  • $150 for desk
  • $50 for desk chair
  • $180 for mattress
  • $170 for bed frame

That leaves you around $150 for other items. I assume you have basic human needs covered (bed sheets-do not sleep on a bare mattress!- and towels), so you could use this money for more furniture or for decor. I would probably try get some attractive and functional bedding (please do not get anything polyester!) in a minimalist pattern. Ikea is really unbeatable for this - see here and here. For a couch, I would either consider Amazon or start scouring Craigslist every day. I would probably forego a coffee table until you have other things that will improve your quality of life (dining chair/table, television, etc.); you really don't need one.

Anyway, these are just a couple of suggestions. Hope this helps!

I'm gonna triple mount 3 Asus VG248QE monitors (24" screen, each 22.5"wide), and I'm unsure about what mounts I should use. I was eyeing this triple monitor mount, but I don't know if it will perfectly fit my monitors or allow me to curve them inward enough. This is a big deal for me since I want to have three monitors and my tower (9" wide) on my desk (72"), and curving the outer two monitors will make everything fit with ease. That being said, I was also thinking about getting 3 of these single monitor mounts which seem to be cheaper. The only cons I can think of with this is that initial set up will be a drag and the cable management will be less appealing. I assume this method would allow for more freedom with a single monitor, so I'll be able to save more space on my desk and rotate monitors with ease. I'm sorta leaning towards the latter option, but I could really use a second opinion- Should I get the 3x mount or 3 1x mounts? Is there a recommended alternative anyone can vouch for that won't kill my wallet?

Hello! I'm sorry you're sad, but I truly hope to help a little!

So, I really love finding furniture etc, and I can 100% stand behind the foam mattresses sold on amazon. I've slept on one for OVER 10 years, and they're SO cheap and SO comfortable. Zinus is the one but if you really want the premium version, I completely think the extra money worth this

In terms of frames, I have a soft spot in my heart for ikea frames.

u/GrimwoodCT · 1 pointr/IKEA

As an additional aside to amend this:
Our IKEA mattress support after eight years of vigorous use (plus I’m a pretty big guy) developed a crack in one of the wooden mattress supports. We really loved the frame and didn’t know what to do. We ended up getting a ZINUS Mattress support that fit perfectly inside our IKEA outer bed frame. It is extremely sturdy, unbelievably easy to assemble, holds up to 1100 pounds and wasn’t terribly expensive. Obviously, every frame/mattress size has its own corresponding ZINUS product we simply adore the king-size one that we got. The link below will indicate what we bought. It does not require a Bunkie board or plywood to support our mattress.

Just to add to warwatch who had most of what was on my list:

  • bathroom floor mats
  • measuring cup (this kind and this kind; Pyrex is good for the former but any old set will do for the latter)
  • dish brush (like here, way better than a sponge)
  • whisk
  • tongs
  • tupperware containers
  • grater
  • coasters
  • ramekins
  • meat thermometer (I got this one about 4 months ago and it's been pretty good; no more "is this what cooked pork/chicken/meat looks like?")
  • silicone spatula
  • pot holders, oven mitts
  • Various sizes of wall hooks. Useful for hanging things on the wall that would otherwise be leaning or on top of something (broom, mop, linter, hair dryer, depending on your cabinets you can even hang pot lids on the walls of the cabinets)
  • paper towel holder
  • shower/bath organizer - depending on how you are set up, you can use a shower caddy to hold most of your things; my showerhead and the pipe leading to it from the wall is angled in a way so that isn't possible but I've had this for about 1.5 years and it has been great.
  • if you have a cabinet in the bathroom, something like these small drawers may be useful for organization.

Some of this depends on how much cooking you are planning to do, but it's all pretty essential in my experience.

Looking to get a new desk to start my battlestation off. Tbh I am mostly a console gamer but would like to hook up my Xbox/PS4 up to a computer monitor. I am also considering getting into PC gaming once I can save up some money for it. I have two desks that I like a lot but my two concerns are having enough space for my consoles, but also having the potential for dual monitors in the future. https://www.amazon.com/Techni-Sport-Carbon-Gaming-Desk/dp/B0741GC94T/ref=asc_df_B0741GC94T/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312154169448&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=15577776505349995532&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=1014895&hvtargid=pla-571917762457&psc=1

I love the storage that is available for my controllers, games, and headphones and stuff as well. Thanks for the help!

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I am assuming you probably can't paint, so these are really awesome. You can also get them at www.walldecorplusmore.com. I use them and they are freaking awesome. They have so many different colors and they come off and go on easily. I haven't had any problems at all with them!

In my bathroom, I have two storage containers that work for me and sit on the counter, stacked on top of each other. There is one like this, not sure about the size on that one, but small enough to fit on your counter and have hair things, make up, toothpaste, etc, in it. Then on top of that, I have a smaller one similar to this on top.

Also, 3M hooks are your best friend! I have one for my keys by my door. One in my shower for my loofa. One on the side of my nightstand for a small hanging flashlight and my sleeping mask thing. You can seriously use these everywhere! It saves a lot of space.

How exciting, I am sure you will figure out what works for you!

u/gummybear83 · 1 pointr/BabyBumps

So I know you were asking about the POANG in particular...but since you mentioned price...this is the recliner we got for our nursery...it's in a similar price range: https://www.amazon.com/Baby-Relax-Mikayla-Recliner-Microfiber/dp/B00VAS7QS0/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1498160535&sr=8-1&keywords=nursery%2Brecliner&th=1

I mean, it's not going to be as nice as a Lazy Boy, but it's pretty comfortable! And I'm 5'4" but it's got a tall back, and it would definitely work for your 5'6". I will say, if I sit with my ass all the way back in the chair, I can't reach the ground, but that's cause it's a pretty deep cushion. It reclines, rocks, and swivels, which is nice.

(on a related note: I think it's really comfortable...but I don't actually nurse in it, lol. I have a hard time getting my kid in a good position to feed without a nursing pillow, and it's not easy to get in a recliner, put the nursing pillow in my lap, and then a baby on top of the nursing pillow. So I did a lot of nursing on the main couch or in my bed, where I could lay the baby down next to me, set up my pillows, and then pick up baby and put her on the pillow. It's obviously easier now because she's 8 months old, but I still think it's easier just to sit on the ground and nurse her)

u/v3ndun · 1 pointr/buildapc

thought about the butcherblock.. but stuff like that doesn't come treated. I didn't have the time/space to do all that. I wasn't confident that the ikea top was going to support my tower to well. I noticed my, then, glass desk had a tiny bow in it.. so I was eager to find a replacement.

I bought a Tribesigns desk.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XVQJSCL/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It felt silly to buy a piece of wood sturdy enough to hold a computer, cut it, stain it, wax or otherwise protect it for more than buying this desk. The frame is metal The top is covered in a vinyl but is like a sturdy hybrid/mesh concoction. The sides can scrape easily if you're not careful.

It fit perfectly into the 57"ish space I had.
----------------------
years ago, a roommate and I just installed a kitchen countertop formica.. a 18' long one. Was a little tacky, but it worked and best of all, it was cheap.

I like to use the cheap [plastic drawers] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001KN12PI/ref=s9_acsd_top_hd_bw_bFi63_c_x_2_w?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-2&pf_rd_r=0EQZNCBM8AMG5D8D9E89&pf_rd_r=0EQZNCBM8AMG5D8D9E89&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=9daeb83e-0797-4d08-8490-b0bffcce1d03&pf_rd_p=9daeb83e-0797-4d08-8490-b0bffcce1d03&pf_rd_i=3744431) that you can find pretty much anywhere. They're not real classy looking but they're super functional and come in lots of different sizes for storing different materials. Craft stores also carry storage solutions that work well for organizing small things like beads and hooks.

I'd like to say that my materials are sorted by both type and color, but that would be a lie. They are really just sorted by type.

Here is a [short video tour] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBVuJ7sTcMk) of a pretty reputable fly shop owner's bench. I've found this style of setup to be both comfortable and productive.

Absolutely no prob :)

My mom reviews electronics for a living so we end up getting tons of new devices really often and generally need to find cables to match so things are being switched out and added in all the time. To make it more convenient instead of having to go sort through a box or into a drawer and untangle cables I wanted something super easy access to so that if i needed an hdmi , bam, I had one. Same with the others.

For the controllers I used Stick-On Game Controller Hooks 2 Pack. The snes and nes usb controllers are simply hung via a tack.

I got a simple ~$10 corkboard from walmart, used a label maker for the labels and then used CraZy TACKz 36tacks to hang the cables. I wouldn't recommend them though, a standard tack works better honestly ( In theory a hook is great but they loosen and then swing around making it a pain to re-orient them when you're taking things on and off frequently.)

The headphones under the desk is The Anchor Great adhesive, super cheap and can orient it vertically or horizontally which lets you fit two pair ( in my case one for skype/discord+gaming and the other for general use since it has better quality but no mic)

For anyone else curious about the other pieces of the set up:

the desk is Series A:72inch Desk by Bush Business Furinture.

The lights are EconoLed RGB 5M 3528 LED Strip Light 300leds

Mousepad is Reflex Lab Huge Gaming Mouse Pad

The headphones are :

and Audio-Technica ATH-A900X

Monitors are : ASUS VN279QL and Dell U3417W FR3PK

Keyboard is : Razer BlackWidow X Tournament Edition Chroma

Mouse is : Razer Naga Hex v2

Would you be referring to this 5 shelf one? I don't but according to others who have bought it the smallest distance between any of the shelves is 14.75 inches and the largest gap is 16 inches so it would depend on how large your figure is. The shelves themselves are apparently 10x22 inches. If you're worried about weight I don't think that should be a problem. The shelves are listed as having a weight limit of 28 pounds per shelf.

And when it comes to buying anything from Amazon I will always tell people to MAKE SURE whatever you are buying is shipping from Amazon's warehouse. Just because it has prime shipping doesn't necessarily mean it is coming direct from Amazon. If it's not coming direct from Amazon and you require a return they will very likely tell you to deal with whoever the seller is before coming to them, and I guarantee you both will try to give you a runaround so they don't have to deal with it. If you get it direct from Amazon and are a prime member returns should be much easier to deal with or they may just even send you a new one free of charge. Although luckily I've never had any trouble with them. I've gotten 4 of the 4 shelved curios and all have arrived in good shape. As with anything being shipped great distances though there is always the possibility of shipping damage.

I'm a freelance web designer and gamer so I spend most of my time in my chair, this is what I use and have used the past 2 years with no issues. It's half the price and can lean very far back, scoot down in your chair and rest your head on the back for those of us who like to sit with terrible posture. It's not fancy but with my over 16 hours of sitting on average with an occasional break to get food and use the restroom, this chair does a great job. I highly recommend it. I've tried other chairs and most are either too firm or just plain uncomfortable. This is the best bang for your buck.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000PWGZOI/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482594643&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=space+chair&dpPl=1&dpID=415EEGwDkuL&ref=plSrch

If you're dead-set on spending roughly $300 though these are the only chairs I think are really worth it. I've tested a few at Office Depot, I highly recommend you do the same so you're significant other can see what they really find comfortable. If I wanted to spend the money this is what I'd buy.

I highly, highly recommend this mattress foundation. I move pretty frequently and have zero storage space and this is a great solution for both of those problems.

I used to have a really heavy and large wooden futon frame, which was pretty squeaky and unnecessarily difficult to set up but I ended up buying this model off Craigslist and I'm never going back. It's pretty easy to set up, very sturdy, and it makes no noise. And the best part is that the frame itself is pretty light and compact once you break it down so it makes moving it from place to place way easier.

u/johniib · 1 pointr/malelivingspace

No opinion on the Ikea mattresses, and I'm not sure if this option will work for you, but I slept on this mattress for over two years and never had a bad nights sleep nor notice anything go bad. I prefer harder beds, but that one was still super comfortable (everyone loved it).
you WILL sink into this one, but still be very supported. I never felt like the mattress got overly warm, but I was in SF at the time so that probably limited how hot it could get. You don't need a foundation with that bed, so you could always get one of these.

After I moved I gave it to a friend and he thoroughly enjoys it.

u/Metalsand · 1 pointr/k12sysadmin

That would be swell, but no generally we just take space when we can get it. We only have the helpdesk and IT offices for room.

I will say this though - Tribesigns makes some really nice and inexpensive tables that are perfect for this. $100 for a 4 foot by 2 foot table with a steel base and 2 inch thick particle board top. The L-shaped desk is a bit thinner AFAIK.

Normal rectangular desk
55"x 24" https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071JRD9FF/

L-shaped desk
-66.14“(Long Side) x 49.21"(D) x 29"(H) https://www.amazon.com/Tribesigns-Modern-L-Shaped-Computer-Workstation/dp/B01HO7O40I/

Also, this is my favorite "value" chair.
https://www.amazon.com/Alera-ALEEL41ME10B-Elusion-High-Back-Multifunction/dp/B0049UCECE/

Only $200 but it's pretty darn robust not to mention comfortable.

One more note: avoid office supply stores like the plague, especially the chairs. While this seems counter-intuitive, the durability/performance of the chairs compared to price is half what you can get elsewhere, and generally everything is overpriced.

u/bangbangsnipesnipe · 1 pointr/buildapc

Has anyone ever had to shop for a 20" deep/wide desk? I'm trying to find one that's about 50-54" long, but it's next to impossible to find one at that length that's not 24" deep or more; I'd like to find one that's basic and black, too, which compounds the issue even further.

Something that's akin to this that wasn't 23.6" deep would hit the spot, so I'm hoping someone here might've had to buy a desk of that size, themselves, and can point me towards a good place to find them. I feel like I've spent hours upon hours over the last month trying to find something! I'd be nice if more sites had an easier way to filter results.

u/poncho_dave · 5 pointsr/DesignMyRoom

Honestly, a full size bed would be perfectly adequate for two, if a bit cozy. It would also buy you a little extra room when every inch counts. I'd recommend a frame like this one that would allow storage underneath. It squeaks a bit and it's definitely barebones, but it's affordable and can fold up easy for moving. I own one in a queen size and have a very small room as well.

As for the rest of the room, get a tape measure and a notepad and measure the footprints of everything in the room so you can draw a plan view of the room and play around with configurations. If casual seating is a must, I would get rid of the couch and instead get a nicer futon frame in full size that can perform double-duty.

WIth a space this size, it's all about finding multi-functional pieces and things that can be broken down quickly and tucked out of the way.

u/Shanix · 0 pointsr/buildapc

I can recommend this chair for about 180 dollars (including tax). It can hold a good 400lb easy without creaking or showing signs of distress, the back is very breathable, and the cushion retains its shape very, very well.

I sit in this thing for maybe 8 hours a day, most every day. It's very comfortable, has good back support, and is an all-around good chair.

It's also cheap. Ish.

u/does-it-feel · 5 pointsr/Flipping

My kit is no longer available but here is the one my friend has which looks/performs exactly the same. The shop light isn't needed, I just had it there before I bought the softbox kit.

Not sure if you meant the table too, but this is the one I use. Best portable table i've ever owned, it has adjustable height and I can sit on it. The tri-fold board can be found at walmart or in stores that sells school supplies for $3.

I use my s7 edge to take photos. The key to getting crisp white photos on your phone is to set the white balance to match your bulbs(5500k) and raise/lower the saturation slightly depending on the how dark/light the item you are photoing is. Hope that helps!

im pretty sure this is the exact same thing i bought on amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019R40ZHW/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

ive had it for almost a year now. the only qualms i have with it basically issues to user error when i put it together. its a solid AF desk. and because of the way its constructed if you have to move it breaks down into 2 smaller desk by removing four bolts. so its good if you are in college and will be moving once you graduate.

The wood is really nice. im sure its MDF but its solid as fuck. no water stains and no swelling since the paint job was solid. i have a triple monitor mount on the back and have ample room for a full keyboard with wrist guard. and i decided to protect the desk and my wrist further with a XXL mouse pad. 12/10 would buy again. not sure why i would have to since its the best.

Edit: 2 things i remembered. 1 the pc carrier for on the floor is a nice touch. its a 15-20 dollar value for similar things on amazon. and the 2nd point is if you plan on storing you computer in the corner under the desk dont put that corner of the desk in the corner of room. there isnt enough room in the joint to pass some larger computer cases through it, like mine for example. otherwise everytime you need to pull out your tower you have to move the desk.

u/AWildRedditorApeared · 1 pointr/vinyl

Hi guys, hoping you could help me with a basic setup. My dad passed recently and left me about 200 vinyl records, mostly from the 70's and 80's. I'd like to listen to them, but I do not have any sort of set up.

I looked at the suggested threads / wiki, and it looks like I'll need a turntable, amp, and speakers. There's a lot more I can get, but for now I'm just happy with a barebones setup so I can listen to some old jams.

I live in USA-MI, and my budget is $200-500. A few caveats:

  • I live in an apartment complex. I do not need it to be too loud / window shaking.
  • I have limited space - tall, 3' speakers are out of the question.
  • I have this desk.
  • My goal was to put the turntable atop the desk, then find a shelf to put under it if I need an amp / other equipment / storage for records.

    Anyways, here's what I found:

  • Crossley C100A-SI, decent turntable for the price.
  • Edifier R1280T Speakers, seem small enough to politely sit on the desk.

    Questions:

  • Is this all I need? Will the speakers plug directly into the turntable? Will the turntable come with a needle?
  • How much of a difference are the ~$100 turntables vs the 200 / 300? Will I actually notice it, or is it mostly just marketing?
  • Are there better recommendations for my budget? If so, what would you recommend and why?

So far y'all, great responses and feedback!! Thank you! A few statements and then some questions...

Here's what I have purchased or am using so far:

  1. On the lines of rackmount equipment (power conditioner, wireless mics, possible locking drawer)... how do y'all organize these items? I was looking at like a 4U or 6U amp rack, and perhaps putting the mixer on top or inside it, but do y'all have different solutions? Hide everything under the tablecloth?

  2. I have a crewcab truck with a 5'8" bed, so 4' tables seemed ideal, but if I'll have a controller case and a possible rackmount case on the 4' table, that leaves me very little other room. I was thinking about the 4' Adjustable kind because I'm 6'3" and don't necessarily want to be hunched over for hours on end. A fold-in-half 6' table isn't ideal in my mind for strength, but I could be wrong. What do y'all do for table length/width?

    Thanks again y'all!!!

Mattress from Amazon. Trust me. I would never buy a used mattress and mattress stores are in business to rip you off. I have done lots of research. This memory foam mattress from amazon is the best I have ever had. 4000+ 4.5-5 star reviews. My dad bought the 8 inch and loves it also. That one only has 6000 reviews! lol

I just ordered this desk on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075FFTLFV/

but I had a few in my favorites:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01MXEJXTM/

https://www.amazon.com/Atlantic-33950212-Gaming-Desk-Pro/dp/B01C41K93A/

I ended up going with that first one because it didn't take up half the wall of my room, the legs look more sturdy than the other two, the price was better, the pictures people took looked good and Zinus is also the company I used for my bed frame (which was very easy to put together and it's really sturdy).

u/ericzw · 1 pointr/buildapc

I looked at Herman Miller, their chairs look very nice. But the fact is I would not spend 600 dollars on a chair. Sorry, thats just my opinion. I understand why good chairs are helpful, but at the end of the day I don't think its worth it. I would not spend more that 150 dolalrs on a chair, unless it was really revolutionary. Not to say I don't care about my health, I would spend 600 dollars or more on a standing desk.

I'm not trying to sound pompous while saying this, I am really curious. What makes this chair:

https://www.amazon.com/Herman-Miller-Embody-Chair-Graphite/dp/B01DGM7ZII/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1537062133&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=herman+miller&psc=1

worth so much more than this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Furmax-Ergonomic-Adjustable-Executive-Computer/dp/B01LXXM5EK/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1537062103&sr=8-10&keywords=chair

Edit: Thanks for responding in a conversational manner.

Edit: In my opinion, there are plenty of great options for 100 dollars or less. I can link a few. I might be wrong, I'm not a chair expert, but they look fine to me.

We have a glider that my sister got us for my baby shower. I admit I did zero research on them, and just went "well I need a glider and this one looks good". Turns out my husband and I are too tall to sit comfortably in it for extended periods. We moved the glider into our bedroom and bought this rocking recliner for the living room. It's super comfortable and is big enough to curl up or splay out on without it taking up a huge chunk of living room. We basically only use the glider now for nights when baby is over stimulated and won't go to sleep (just sit in a dark room and rock haha)

u/chinamanbilly · 75 pointsr/nosleep

I was really happy with the foam mattress I ordered from Amazon. Zinus and Spa Sensations are great. In fact, Amazon has a great sale right now. You only need a full-size bed now so it's even cheaper!

It’s beautiful but I agree with your friend. My LO is only 5 days old and I’ve spent more time in the glider than anywhere else. Comfort is key. Is there somewhere else in your house you can put it?

This is the one I have and it has been a dream.

I bought this (Z-Line Designs Cyrus Workstation https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004VLW38Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_1MAJxbGVQH9CK) on Amazon and it works like a charm. Fits my computer, full sized electric piano which I use as a MIDI keyboard, a pretty bulky mixer and even my small monitors. Has a sliding keyboard and mouse holder too! Doesn't cost as much as those "music workstations" but does the job beautifully :) check it out!

Edit: some words and link

u/Mitzy_r · 2 pointsr/Mattress

You should look at exactly what is supporting the bed right now. There should be at least a couple center supports holding up the middle of the bed. If those are missing or broken you just need to figure out how to prop it back up again.

Being there is no boxspring you probably have lots of slats under the mattress and as long as they are not broken or warped beyond repair, beefing up your center support should be sufficient to make thing stable again. Worst case scenario, beef up the center supports and get a couple pieces of 3/4" plywood to put across for support as well. Just make sure it is evenly supported on the sides and center. Or you could go with something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Zinus-SmartBase-Mattress-Foundation-Replacement/dp/B00BWC1X3S/ref=sr_1_24?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1475268999&sr=1-24&keywords=metal+platform+bed and just pull out your existing support system. I wouldn't mess with anything like you posted in your link.

Beyond that its tough to say without actually seeing what is going on under the bed. Your mattress may or may not be ruined, just really depends on how bad it was and how long it was like that. Get your foundation right and go from there.

u/Feelsliketeenspirit · 1 pointr/InfertilityBabies

I was surfing Slickdeals today and saw that glider at babies r us and came here to post about it. Looks like you already got the memo.

I went ahead and ordered one for pick up. Hopefully we can pick it up tomorrow on our way back from my 40w Dr appt, as husband is coming to this one. We already got one from Amazon of our registry that was about $300, but for $100 I can use one downstairs too. I may actually switch them as I think the recliner is a nice looking piece of furniture and would look great in the living room.

This is the one I got from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00VAS7QS0/

I have a different brand chair (but my guess is they're all made in the same factory). Not a bad price considering free shipping.

This is the specific chair I have.

Here's another example of a clearly similar chair.

It was easy to assemble, is relatively comfortable, tilts/swivels and has adjustable height.

I'm not sure if this specific model can lean back, if it can't then I would say pass, and grab one of the other two chairs I listed since the price is similar, and the definitely can lean back.

I second this! Baby isn't quite here yet, but we have it setup and LOVE it.

I had a less expensive two piece on my registry at first, but my mom convinced me that if I was going to splurge on something in the nursery, this would be the furniture to do it on... I have a feeling that she's right.

If you need a budget mattress that's not crap, this one is absolutely amazing. It's anywhere from $180-350 depending on size. I've got a hugeass mousepad. It actually sits under my mouse, keyboard, and still has room. It's a little wider than the section of desk I have it on (this is my desk, which I would highly recommend), but I love it all the same. I've got plenty of room for all of my shit.

I like my Corsair mouse quite a bit, though it's just a wee bit over the $50 parameter at $59.

Per Araziah's suggestion, I've started using f.lux. I used to use it on my (jailbroken) iPhone, and I think it is a great app/program.

I use a Sterilize drawer until too but not so huge. Unless you have a full boy scouts troop with you, I think it will get crazy to find anything in there.

I use a table top one which I place on the picnic table.
I reserve one drawer for basics like lighter, matches, Ziploc bags, spices, etc.
Inside the other one I put the utensils and in the third one I position my cooking tools.

Sterilite ClearView 3 Storage Drawer Organizer https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001KN12PI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_.Z3zzb38WGFYQ

As for the camping kitchen, here's some good reviews photos of a Coleman brand. It will give you an idea of the way you can use it so you can determine if you want it.

Coleman Pack-Away Deluxe Kitchen https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00363WZSS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_B43zzbQVH06MB

I personally have a big see through plastic tote where I carry my whole camping kitchen.
I have a collapsible sink with a drain which I use to wash them (or carry to a washing station depending of where we are at) and then I leave everything to air dry in there.

In the same plastic tote I place my drawer unit and some kitchen towels, a grilling mitt and a vinyl tablecloth with some holding hooks.

Bear in mind that I can't fit very long cooking tools in the drawer unit but I just use some short ones and the things that are longer like my stainless skewers, still fit in the big tote.

I really love this chair (SPACE AirGrid), especially for the price point off amazon. Great build quality, design, and back support. After 3 years of heavy usage my only complaint is that one of the arm rests has started to crack a bit. That said, if I could afford a Herman Miller or Global, I'd probably get that.

> I'm a bit of a messy person. Don't roast me too hard

I bought me a new desk on Amazon since my old desk was starting to age a bit, and I decided to go big. I don't have a lot of space to work with in my small room so I couldn't get whatever desk I want (although that would be cool). Overall, I think it turned out pretty well and I'm happy with it.

Link to Desk

I also got me some cable management gear such as a cable raceway, some cable hooks, and some doubled sided tape for the single power brick I have. I feel like the cable management isn't as good as it can be, but oh well. It's a lot better than before, and it's so much better than not having a cable raceway.

u/bobbybick · 7 pointsr/videos

Got a "burrito bed" from Amazon in 2016 for $230 + $80 for a metal frame to put it on. This was after I tried going to brick and mortar stores and saw that they wanted $700-1000 for just a mattress and the frame would be like another $200 minimum.

It's probably the best sleep I've ever gotten and plan to buy one again in the future. It was made better in that the salespeople at brick and mortar acted like I was a crazy idiot for buying a mattress online and that they "hoped I like bedbugs".

u/relaximadoctor · 1 pointr/fixit

Flip it if it's double sided. If not, and funds are really an issue cover the area with a generous amount of duct tape and buy a cheap mattress topper. Walmart had some for under 20$.

If you have the ability to save up 250 or so you can buy a new mattress that will really improve your sleep quality. Avoid mattress firm. I gave up on an adorable treadmill desk and ended up with a recumbent bike desk. I'm on my phone so forgive the mobile and ugly links. I have this bike http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004O6TXVS/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1417885066&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SY200_QL40 and this as a deskhttp://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B003DYZQKY/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?qid=1417885245&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SY200_QL40

The table has a high height which is perfect for this bike. I love it. I work 40+ hours per week at it and have clocked nearly 450 miles on the bike. I love it. My legs are more toned and my back doesn't hurt. I broke my tail bone about 4 years ago and still had awful pain when sitting too long. But, shifting my weight to cycle allows me to sit comfortably. A few times I have gotten off of the bike and moved it back so I could stand for awhile. It's light weight and easy to move.

u/deathbaloney · 7 pointsr/AnimeFigures

I'm definitely not in the "Detolfs are the only cabinets worth owning" camp--I also have an IKEA Malsjo and I recently got a double cabinet from Coaster Company that I like very much--but my Detolf has followed me to three different apartments (over the course of 5 years) and it's certainly been dependable. No stability issues, no structural concerns.

I'd probably avoid puck lights--they can create a spotlight effect that casts unappealing shadows on your figures. I use the Dioder lights from IKEA and they're fine. You could probably do better for cheaper if you were willing to get one of those spools of LEDs and a soldering tool, but the Dioders are definitely hassle-free.

Also, here are two options for dustproofing your case--both seem to work so it's really a matter of which you prefer the look of.

I think this is the rocker/recliner I had on my registry, but I think this is the one we were given. I wanted one that didn't have an ottoman to be in the way (or that I could cat nap in if needed), but still rocked (and also the other reasons you described). I'm glad we were given something, though, even if it wasn't what we requested! We get a lot of use out of the glider. FWIW, we currently have it in the living room, since Audrey's bedroom is upstairs but she's currently rooming with us downstairs. I have this desk which I find to be acceptable. It's large enough to fit my Maschine Studio + Sub 37 on the desktop and keep a mouse/keyboard on the tray below. The elevated shelf is great for a large computer screen and wide enough to fit rack units on either side of the monitor. I used to have my monitors on the shelf but upgraded to larger monitors that I ended up putting on stands.

As I said, the desk is acceptable. The glass top is a pain to clean and there have been times where the metal parts vibrated due to my music (this may have only been when the monitors were on the shelf, I can't remember the last time it happened). It's also on wheels which isn't that much of a problem but it does jiggle a little from time to time. I'm looking forward to getting a new wood desk someday, maybe a Zaor but for now this desk is acceptable enough that I would rather buy more gear.

u/grimoiregirl · 2 pointsr/Cyberpunk

I know a guy who can get me a discount on a lot of electronics, I call him first, get hooked up with two smart bulbs $85, a projector $92, and speakers $140. I'm figuring also $50 for cables.

Other than the wall the projector is going to be on, which I'm leaving white, paint all the other walls with black chalkboard paint. I'm gonna figure this at about $40, 1 can of paint that covers 110 square feet is $10 on Walmart.com. Black walls is pretty retro futuristic dystopia, and now we can draw or write on them, which is good for making things. I'll also be on the lookout for a large flat piece of scrap metal to mount on the wall for magnetic haikus and "filing" printouts. Take apart old hard drives for free magnets.

I'm gonna grab this desk,
https://www.amazon.com/Z-Line-Belaire-Glass-L-Shaped-Computer/dp/B0019MAUTE/ and a cheap chinese $15 strip light kit on Amazon, and underlight the desk.

I'm going to use scrounged furniture for any other furniture in the room. I'll probably start applying the leftover blackboard paint to it, to give it all a uniform appearance, and run out halfway through, and then spend $10-$25 on another can or two of paint and some sandpaper.

I'll spend $90 on 3 smart plugs, then purchase a $20 electric kettle, a $30 electric rice cooker. Now I have the ability to not stop working to make instant noodles.

I'm also going to pick up $30 worth of 3M mounting tape, [this $243 couch off of Amazon](
https://www.amazon.com/Target-Marketing-Systems-66318BLK-Storage/dp/B000WZ9ZVS/) because I always wanted a fainting couch and a random incongruous piece of furniture seems very "low life" to me, and a $30 shower curtain with some weird print to cover any windows- this one I picked because it has kind of a vaporwave aesthetic, but I can confirm that it works because I have one with a trees in the forest print covering the sliding glass door in my bedroom. If this is a bedroom, substitute the fainting couch for a cheap memory foam mattress and some printed sheets that I'll probably buy at Target with cartoon characters on them.

Queen size Memory Foam 12-inch thick for $250 including free shipping.

Best mattress I've ever slept on.

Mattress stores are extremely expensive and will mark up the same or equivalent mattresses by 2-5 times the price just because they know people assume they cost a month's pay.

u/PrintsHD · 2 pointsr/buildapc

This chair seems pretty good for $65

I’d say you generally want to go for something that goes the length of your back and supports your neck. Also, some decent cushioning, no one wants to sit on a wooden plank.

Lastly and this may depend on your preference, arm rests. Ones that connect to the bottom and back of the chair so they don’t wiggle around, some people may not want arm rests so they can push their chair in under their desk, but I find them nice when leaning back and watching movies on my computer.

u/epik · 5 pointsr/buildapc

Wirecutter recommendations from 2012: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-office-chair-is-the-steelcase-leap/

They like the Steelcase Leap the best. It's about $900 but you can sometimes find them on craigslist for $200-300.

They also say the Ikea Markus is great value at the price point of $200. It used to be $150 sometime last year, maybe it'll go on sale again. There are fabric version of the Markus that are a little cheaper.

Other people on reddit and various forums have stated their like for these from Amazon. Affordable and with some adjustments in the $150 range.

The Office Star Space Professional

The Lorrell Executive

The Herman Millers are outdated and overrated. The DX Racers are gimmicky and embarrassing. They are like the Beats of chairs. There is a reason racing seats are used in cars, the sides bolster you in place because of momentum during high speed turns. On a chair though, it's just pathetic.

Personally, I'm now leaning towards the Ikea Volmar. It seems to be a higher end chair to the Markus and you can find it on the site with headrest and armrest, only headrest, or without either.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S09896320/#/S69896317

Also found some generation 2 Leaps on craigslist I might check out, listed for $225. But I think I want a headrest for sure.

u/ro4ers · 1 pointr/AirBnB

This doesn't look sturdy at all.

The thin slats and the hollow steel frame won't survive long, especially with heavier people. Also, while the slats are interchangeable, the frame can't be repaired if it bends.

The reviews are not very flattering either, mostly from people complaining that you can't have sex on it or it breaks.

Edit: The same brand has the Zinus 14 Inch Elite SmartBase Mattress Foundation, for Big & Tall, Extra Strong Support, Platform Bed Frame which looks to be pretty durable. Have to buy a mattress separately though.

u/ChucklesManson · 1 pointr/phoenix

I have purchased two of these mattresses a year ago, and I'm happy with them. They are medium firmness and don't smell like chemicals or anything. Amazon delivers them to your door. One of them has a foam topper on it but they are comfortable without.

Not only is memory foam hot, but the porous structure is a magnet for dust, mold spores, trapping sweat, bacteria, and if you have pets, dander and mites.

u/mllecarling · 1 pointr/VetTech

We use a small 3 tier drawer container (like this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001KN12PI/ref=pd_aw_sims_5?pi=SL500_SS115&simLd=1) I keep them grouped by size. We have an AAHA accreditation this month and keeping them covered and clean and out of the way.

I like this system though we also use old IV lines as ties so we store them there too and we can easily grab the container and have everything you need! We also back stock the XL sizes (I had to order a horse tube for my dane once lol)

Inexpensive, good amount of space, easy to put together, simple aesthetic.

u/raptor_dove · 3 pointsr/beadsprites

For storing beads still in bags, and smaller finished projects I use something like: https://www.amazon.com/Sterilite-ClearView-Storage-Drawer-Organizer/dp/B001KN12PI/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1519230842&sr=8-5&keywords=plastic+storage+drawers

For actual loose beads, i still use the large plastic trays you get in the sets. I find them pretty useful and rearranged them so they're easier to work with, which took a little while, but now they're nice palettes.

That said, I personally recommend one that looks like this. Bed might slide around a bit but you can use it with a memory foam mattress (which you should get, they're very affordable) without a boxspring.

Well while it's a bit of a pain to set up, and isn't the most stable thing in the world, something like this is fairly common. One of these days I'll have the time (and money) to finish my home desk, but right now all of my gear is on some of those. Feel free to bug. It's tough finding arms that can reach over other monitors. The three middle ones are held up with single monitor mounts. I'm able to get them over the bottom monitors because I have a desk with a second level that they are connected to similar to this.
The TV on top is on a vertical mount which is sitting on a box and held down with weights. Kind of ghetto but I never look behind there anyway.

OP, have a look at this

Desk depth is 24 inches, 4 inches deeper than the Walker Edison desk. The keyboard tray is much wider, easily capable of acommodating a mouse and keyboard. The desk itself is also 10 inches longer and wider.

Also consider this desk from office depot. The keyboard tray is about 4 inches shorter than the zline desk so no mouse and keyboard unless you get a compact keyboard. Otherwise, this desk has the same dimensions as the z line. It goes on sale frequently for $170, which you can bring down further with coupons. I got mine $135 just last week. Haven't set it up yet though.

Third option is to hit Craigslist. Search for ikea galant. You'll get plenty of hits.

So, bed frames meant to attach a headboard, have 2 flat brackets to attach a headboard. Since you have baseboard heat, you want any flammable materials 8 inches away from the heating unit. This also allows proper airflow so it can actually heat the room.

You can get a frame and headboard separately. You just need a frame with the bracket to mount a headboard. Zinus Compack 9-Leg Support Bed Frame, for Box Spring & Mattress Set, Full https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EYN1NT6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_D5i8Ab1TDEM7F

If you'd be willing to spend a bit more on this one it's got a lot more support.
