$120 on amazon

Everything for a Jeep is expensive lol.

Get a rubber pad for the jack with a slot for the pinch weld, like this.

I wouldn't lift a newer car without it, because my oldest car has developed rust at the jack point.

u/GrepZen · 2 pointsr/Jeep

Bought mine on AMZN- BOLT 7028648 Hi-Lift Jack Mount for Jeep Wrangler (Black Mount for Driver Side, J-Mount). During the installation, you can fit your Jeep's key to the lock.

I've consumed (destroyed) several 1.5-2 ton jack: Several Harbor Freight jacks, an aluminum craftsman "racing Jack", and even a hearty steel craftsman jack. Also have destroyed several Advance Auto/ O'rielly crap 1-1.5 ton jacks.

I've since learned my lesson and went out to find one that was truly BIFL, and came across this:

http://www.amazon.com/OTC-5202-2-Ton-Capacity-Service/dp/B000XSJKB4/ref=sr_1_16?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1324329437&sr=1-16

Coupled with a set of their 6-ton jack stands, and I've never found a better combo. (But all jack stands are pretty much the same)

http://www.amazon.com/OTC-1773C-6-ton-Ratchet-Stands/dp/B000OCFGC6/ref=sr_1_4?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1324330068&sr=1-4

Manufactured by OTC, Spain, it is the same one listed in the Griot's catalog, but for a lot cheaper (Actually bought it before learning this). It is warrantied for life.

Me and my brother embark on some significant car projects, and nonetheless use the **it out of jacks in particular. I have had it about 2.5 years now, and have not been disappointing one second with it. I will probably pass it on to my kids one day!

Edit: I have spent countless dollars at Harbor Freight and had NEVER had anything last more than a few years, let alone a few uses. I consider everything from Harbor Freight Disposable. ABSOLUTELY NOT BIFL.

A cutting torch is the first thing that came to mind for me.

Other alternatives include a brick saw with a metal cutting blade, and my personal favorite, a bumper jack.

Andersen has a whole mess of levelling gear and they aren't too expensive, but they are specific to a TT or a 5th wheel.

Here's a 6 block kit for RV's with 6 point auto-leveling. I have a 4 point and the magnets are fantastic. You can get a TT version but not through Andersen and they're not too expensive.

Ramps are so terrifying for this very reason. Someone introduced me to vehicle positioning jacks (like these) and it blew my mind. These are the perfect complement to a low profile jack to avoid the ramp scenario.

Mine is mounted on my driver side A pillar, the only noise it makes is whistling in the wind.

You appear to be paying too much for recovery tracks.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S0CZZD2/ $18.99 for two

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NF7JTRG/ $29.88 for two

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B11UFS4/ $34.99 for one, but it is metal.

Question for those of you who live where it snows: How many do you need? One? Two? Four?

Are you wanting it on your bumper/tailgate? Granted I have a JKU but that’s where mine is right now and I’m not a big fan of it. Dominion off-road makes mounts for 48” hi-lifts that puts it up on your sport bar and out of the way that I’m going to get. They also make it for the JLU. Dominion Off-road JLU Hi-lift mount

Its not for everyone, but i have mine mounted to the a pillar, it makes no noise at all, and unless im really looking, i cant see it. Its also keyed to my jeeps key, so its locked up too. Maybe worth checking out. Here is a link to the actual product.

I kick myself frequently for missing out on a set of 4 of these sold lightly used locally and will probably pick up a pair soon.

Will I ever be lifting an 18 wheeler? Probably not, but if I do, I’m not going to be second guessing these.

u/Remanage · 1 pointr/BMWi3

That's the wrong pad. BMWs use a rectangular insert like this. https://smile.amazon.com/DEDC-Square-Polyurethane-Adapter-Protector/dp/B07GS36J9B/

Might want to try this!

I also have those 2 ton jack stands from HF and they are nice for the price. Just upgraded again though to 6 ton OTC:

https://www.amazon.com/OTC-1736A-Ratcheting-Jack-Stand/dp/B007QV0XFS

The 'stinger' series is the same as HF, but there main line with the cut out logo are so nice.

which hi-lift jack mount do you have, and what do you think of it? i am looking at the BOLT jack mount, since it locks with the ignition key.. amazon link

EDIT: should add, I currently have the hood mount, but it gets in the way of my windshield washer jets, which is a bummer. the AEV rear bumper and tire carrier are on the longer term list but i want something short term...

u/rtwpsom2 · 2 pointsr/GoRVing

I'd suggest getting 3-4 pair of cheap jack stands and leveling that frame out just to avoid it collapsing while you're living in it. Put a paver under each one.
