It sounds like you've realized that your body WANTS to eat because it feels like shit, but eating won't actually help. That's the first mental hurdle. Now you've just got to switch out your go-to foods for healthier versions so that when you do give into the binge (because that happens) it won't be so bad. I lost 35 pounds by just filling up on protein and vegetables FIRST.

I have a small history with eating disorders, mainly in the fact that if I count calories, things get out of control. So I don't count anything. I also don't let myself get too hungry - I'll eat 4-5 big snacks throughout the day, no real 'sit down' meals.

I also make sure I'm drinking enough water - I bought a few of these Contigo water bottles in the 32oz size, and I try to make sure I drink one bottle each day minimum.

I love to cook, but if I cook, I can't do anything else that day, so I eat a lot of packaged food and snacks, or fresh things that just need to be washed. I also eat things with a lot of flavor and spice -- bland food makes me mentally feel like I didn't eat anything, or that I'm depriving myself.

For protein I eat a lot of EPIC meat bars and canned tuna. Instead of eggs (because shells and sinks are unnecessary steps), I make a mountain of egg whites from the carton with sharp cheddar sprinkled/melted in, then LOTS of hot sauce. Sliced deli meats are great things to have on hand -- my deli has Lebanon bologna and lemon-pepper turkey, so I get those instead of the plain stuff.

For veggies, my favorite low-effort thing is IKEA veggie meatballs. But if you don't live near an IKEA, there might be another veggie meatball option at your store. I used to hate salads, then realized I just hated iceberg and romaine lettuce. So now I eat spinach salads (with carrots and olives and roasted red peppers from the jar and sometimes cucumbers). I don't use salad dressing -- just olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and garlic salt. I'll eat green bell peppers raw, like an apple. I eat a lot of apples, too. Honeycrisp are the best.

For good carbs/starches I make beans. Just dump 'em in a bowl in the microwave. Black beans with salsa is probably the healthiest option, but I also liked mixing Great Northern beans with canned sweet peas. Any bean with butter and some kind of hot sauce or salsa is gonna taste ok and be kind of healthy. (Not refried beans, though. Save that for a treat and/or really bad day. Load it up with cheese and salsa.)

To replace chips for salt cravings, I get these salt-and-vinegar almonds. They have lactose, for whatever reason, but other than a bit of bloating the first time I had them, they haven't really bothered my lactose intolerance. And they will low-key tear up your tongue in the BEST way (if you're into that).

I don't really have a sweet tooth, but the KIND bars come in all sorts of flavors and make great snacks. For a cold treat I get the Smooze fruit ices -- they've only got 10 grams of sugar.

I also really like the Thai Kitchen Instant Noodles. They're small servings, so sometimes I'd make two for a meal. Read the packages carefully if you have allergies, though --- the Lemongrass one has shellfish byproducts, which was a very scary and upsetting surprise for me.

Another important thing is just not to have the 'bad foods' (you know the ones) in the house. My dad left a bag of regular cheddar Goldfish here yesterday, and I ate the entire damn thing, despite my gluten and lactose intolerances. So I've been miserable all night. But today I will drink my water and eat my eggs and get back on track.

So can anyone buy this and if so where would I shop for it?

Edit: Wondering if Med Pass in nectar consistency would be ok? She loves butter pecan ice cream and I found butter pecan flavor. I'm going to order some and show it to her doctor. Thanks for the idea! Still haven't found the molded pureed foods, though. I'll definitely keep looking.

Second edit: I just found the shaped fruits on amazon. Here there are in case anyone else is looking. It says they ship frozen though so I'm guessing that means they have to be refrigerated. Going to have to wait for my next visit and take them with me for her so I can keep them in the fridge in my hotel. They look really great, though, so thank you!

Third edit: Turns out they have some shelf stable Hormel puree foods as well. I already sent her a four pack of Soylent because they come in assorted flavors so I'm working on arranging for someone to deliver her some maple cinnamon toast she can have in her room for a snack, too. I gotta tell you redditors are amazing. My grandma is going to love maple cinnamon toast. That's her favorite. She used to make it for me when I was a little'un.

u/Inthewirelain · 2 pointsr/antiMLM

Nah its so sweet its unpleasant lol. Here's some very nice squash, Robinsons stuff is great. Ribena is great too and Vimto. Love the Vimto remixes too, especially these ones. That's quite a bit more expensive than here in the UK, but all amazon US links, i'd highly recommend them!! I bet some of them are even price competiive with juice from the store for you guys as you water it down.

There must be some cheaper, American made brands too even just for expats. Its pretty cheap to make. I really recommend Ribena though, classic drink for kids and adults since WWII. Vimto has been well known for a long time and that specific remix flavour I linked I take to work every day. And Robinsons is a squash every kid has in a cupboard in the house somewhere :)

My husband has made me several crazy delicious batches of passionfruit beers. He used this:

http://www.amazon.com/Concentrate-Passion-16-9-Ounce-Plastic-Bottles/dp/B004746V26?ie=UTF8&keywords=da%20fruta&qid=1465427487&ref_=sr_1_1_a_it&sr=8-1

Prime shipping is free - if you don't have it you likely know someone who does. Worth it to ask around. If you can't find anyone I'll order it for you - PM me.

He also used frozen Goya puree, which we used to be able to get at El Mezquite Market on San Pedro and Central, but has been scarce for a while now. We tried Pro's Ranch Market (now called Los Altos Ranch Market) too, but it's been a while since we looked.

But Goya does make a great puree, if you can find it. Best bet is probably a Hispanic market - we didn't try them all, and like I said, it's been a while.

Hope you can find some and that your saison turns out wonderfully - there is nothing better than a good passionfruit beer!

edit: there is also this one - http://www.davinehawaii.com/product/passion-fruit-puree-3-bottles/ $45 plus $15 shipping. never tried it but i'm going to get some!

I wanted to add some more great finds thanks to a list I saw by /u/vtsumc1993:

16) Hormel Cooked Bacon - $22 for (72) pieces
Less than $4/pack for the equivalency of 6 packs of cooked bacon is really quite good - great find!

17) V8 juice - get your veggies! $26 for (48) cans
Get your veggies for just over 50c/can!

18) ~~Tropicana Orange Juice - $30 for 24 bottles
Not too bad, around $1.25/bottle is less than you'd pay in a cooling case by a check-out register.~~Deal is gone, now charging shipping (though price has been reduced). No longer on Prime.

19) Wheat Thins - $13 for (6) boxes
Around a couple bucks for each box is a really good deal - in my stores they're $2.50 and up.

---

And also a special shout-out to /u/fwogzilla for making me aware of this amazing deal on hash browns!

20) Golden Grill Hashbrowns - $14 for 48 servings
Also:
Golden Grill Hashbrowns - $14 for 50 servings
These get rave reviews from Redditors, so they are definitely worth a look!

There is certainly a transition period from glucose to ketone energy. Your body needs to adapt to using ketones and fatty acids efficiently, and it can take months to reach fat adaption, but once you do it is a steady source of energy and endurance is great. But for now you're definitely pushing it. Keto is also diuretic, you lose minerals and that will drain energy fast. Unless you replenish them daily, your kidneys start recycling your water to hang onto salts, which can stall loss from dehydration. Easiest way to ensure you get some more electrolytes is drinking a ketoade daily. You can search out recipes and tweak a concoction of your own.

My ketoade is 1/4tsp salt for sodium; 1/2tsp lite salt for sodium/potassium. You could also use 1/4tsp Nu/No Salt instead, or buy a potassium citrate powder; 1tsp magnesium citrate powder. I use a nice water bottle that unscrews so I can dump in the mixture and add water; 1Tbsp lemon juice; and sweetener. Tastes like a mild lemonade. You could also flavor with Mio or powdered drink packet or other water enhancers, instead. Refrigerate and grab in the morning to drink throughout the day along with plain water, might want a couple bottles each day. It leaves room to get electrolytes in food, but ensures you get enough to not feel horrible if you can't get enough from meals.

u/drinkduckshit · 1 pointr/tea

So let's break this down:

__

1A. If you're looking for good caffeinated tea to start the day I would recommend Red Blossom's Formosa Red #18, Mi Xiang It's a cross between a traditional assam breakfast tea and a native Taiwanese cultivar. Certainly the finest black breakfast tea on the market.

1B. If you're looking for non-caffeinated breakfast options, I would go with something like [Tartary Buckwheat] (https://www.amazon.com/Moyishi-Organic-Buckwheat-Tea-Loose/dp/B00EZ7Q3Y6/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1491244562&sr=1-1&keywords=soba+cha). Goes great with most breakfast foods.

__

2A. If you're looking for a caffeinated nighttime option, definitely go with a good white tea like [Silver Needle] (https://www.redblossomtea.com/tea/white/silver-needle-2016.html).

2B. If you're looking for non-caffeinated nighttime option, you simply can't beat [camomille] (https://www.amazon.com/Frontier-Organic-Chamomile-Flowers-German/dp/B001VNGN9C/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1491244762&sr=1-1&keywords=chamomile).

Remember for best results with both Camellia and herbal teas - always brew Gong Fu Cha style. This means use a high leaf to water ratio and brew for shorter periods of time.

u/ThatGuyinHouston · 1 pointr/bicycling

Nice documentation of the ride! Is that Google Glass?

Regarding the cramping, that's one I'd not heard before! Gonna try it. I invested in a case of the Pickle Juice stuff and take a couple with me on long rides. I down a bottle around 40 miles in, BEFORE my legs start complaining. Today, despite the pickle juice, at about 43 miles in, I had to get off and walk for about 5 minutes. I didn't actually cramp, but my legs were right on the edge of cramping. Happened again at about 47 miles, and another short walk got me past it. I was home at 50 miles.

I signed up for a 75 mile ride next Saturday on a new section of toll road that hasn't opened to cars yet, only to be reminded by my buddy that Sunday is the 70 mile Tour de Houston we both signed up for. Argggh.

I'll probably just do 25 of the Saturday ride (it's a 25 mile loop that the 75 milers just repeat 3 times) so I won't blow my chances of a good ride on Sunday.

I'm training up for the MS 150 ride from Houston to Austin next month, which is actually 160 to 180 miles (depending on which start-point you select). This will be my 1st one. My twin brother has done 3. It's time for me to step up.

Hey, OP, thanks for the video! The work you did making it is appreciated.

u/Becroki · 6 pointsr/AskAnAmerican

It's honestly best if you make it yourself. And when it's good, it's amazing.

This is an awesome recipe. Idk where you're from, but if you're not in the Americas, try searching for something like this if you don't have key limes. Then use a bit of fresh juice from a regular lime and zest it for adding into the pie. It won't be the exact flavor, but close enough.

u/manachar · 3 pointsr/maui

Is that Indonesia or Indiana? Big difference in shipping.

Your best bet is going to be the cans, like this. Amazon and Amazon Marketplace should be pretty good if it's Indiana, not sure about Indonesia.

u/nope_nic_tesla · 8 pointsr/wsgy

In Germany there's a great mixed beer they make called Bananenweizen that is a hefeweizen mixed with a few tablespoons of banana nectar. If you can find this brand of banana nectar in any stores near you, try it out sometime if you like hefeweizen in general. It's one of my favorite things now, especially delicious on a hot summer day. Very refreshing taste.

u/mistral7 · 1 pointr/diabetes_t2

The hot is probably an odd option but there are very safe drinks for diabetics. I'm a believer in Dr Bernstein's recommendation of saccharin as safe and effective.

u/pogarita · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Ok there are two things that remind me of (or really, are) my username!

Remember this game?? hehehe

Also - there is this popular hawaiian drink that is often made into margaritas - and they call them Pogaritas. I didn't even know this drink existed until I was playing around googling my own username. A friend made my name up... o.0

Imagination is greater than detail!

u/coldonmartin · 2 pointsr/rva

Here is the link. It looks like it's sold out right now, but it was also sold out a few minutes before I bought it. I was hitting refresh like a mad man waiting for concert ticket links to go live. Best of luck!

u/c0ncept · 7 pointsr/interestingasfuck

It's very popular as a sweet drink in Asia and some other areas. It's actually delicious.

www.amazon.com/ALO-Exposed-Beverage-Honey-Ounce/dp/B001LTZ7P2/

Comes in original and all kinds of other flavors. I'm not positive about eating it raw from the plant though.

u/MyUserNameWasTooLon · 2 pointsr/LifeProTips

https://www.amazon.com/Izze-Sparkling-Juice-Flavor-Variety/dp/B007J82R8O/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1466111946&sr=8-2&keywords=izze+sparkling+juice

90 Calories, gives you some vitamins. It's a nice drink to have when you are craving soda. It has a lot less sugar and sodium than normal soda and gives you a full flavor rather than a watered down flavor like La Croix. I'll usually have 1 a day (They are only 8oz). Been working out and eating other healthy items and have been losing weight / gaining muscle. And Izze sodas help curb my need to drink regular soda.

u/user_none · 9 pointsr/vaporents

I've done it, and here's a much cheaper option. I can personally vouch for this brand. Great stuff and I have it as good ole tea almost every night. Vaped, it's pretty amazing.

Walmart should be carrying them. But, if they aren't stocked, ecto.cool says they are sold on Amazon, too.

Hi-C Ecto Cooler Citrus Juice, 11.5 Ounce (Pack of 12) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FUB9XMY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_-GpwxbMWR0Z6B

Edit... What the shit is with the downvote. I'm helping you out here! The damn website says they can be found at Walmart and Amazon, and other small retailers.

Edit 2. Please see apology below.

Love [pickle juice](Pickle Juice Extra Strength Shots, 2.5 oz, 12 pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015TJGG9U/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_vUVUAbBM2Y8XK) for this.

u/wOlfLisK · 5 pointsr/oddlysatisfying

It's really good and is really common in the UK. I'd advise you to find a local British or international shop and searching for either Ribena or Robinsons' Blackcurrant Squash (Not sure if you have that in the US but basically its concentrated juice, make sure to dilute it). They might not be the best Blackcurrent flavoured thing out there but they're very popular so you can probably find them if you live near a major city.

Or, you know, just order it off amazon instead.

u/Tintinabulation · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

One of my favorite fruity-but-not-too-sweet drinks is This mixed with a decent vodka. Doesn't have to be expensive, but not a plastic handle, either.

That soda is so crisp and refreshing! It's a nice tart lemon that blends perfectly with the vodka and you can find it at Publix or Whole Foods or whatever good-but-not-crazy-discount store is in your area. This one is also great, and so is this one!.

I like fruity, too, but too much sugar gives me a wicked headache. These re crisp and refreshing and not too sweet and now I want one!

Also, look for Angry Orchard hard cider. That stuff is also fruity, crisp and refreshing without being too sweet!

As far as the Hawaiian Sun goes, I'm only able to find it in small Asian food stores (conveniently, the same place that sells sushi grade salmon and poke) but Amazon is your friend if you need some POG in your life.

As a 1 oz/day user, I poop regularly at 8 am each day. I even wake up at 8 to poop on days when I can normally sleep in. I rarely poop twice in a day.

I just make sure I do two things:

  1. Drink a 32oz tumbler of ice water with each dose. (I drink 4-5 of those a day anyway.)
  2. Eat a high fiber breakfast. (my fav)

Another thing that helps, but is not necessary, is a squatty potty. I used to use it only when constipated (when on other opiates), but now I use it as much as possible, because it just feels right.

Finally, when nothing else works, a 1/3 - 1/2 bottle of tart cherry juice will get things moving.

The only thing that will for-sure-every-time constipate me is the capsules, so I avoid those like the plague.
u/spamlet · 1 pointr/SodaStream

The sodastream water flavorings have to be refrigerated if that's an issue.

I use the True Citrus products which are basically crushed up citrus fruits. One package per liter and they taste great. Make sure not to get the Kool aid type products as those may not be soda safe.

u/voco · 7 pointsr/whole30

Sparkling water is compliant. You may see "Natural Flavors" or "Citric Acid" on some of them and those are okay. I will also drink Spindrift which is sparkling water with a bit of unsweetened, no sugar added, juice.

If you're talking about these no way.

The other point with sparkling water is to not use it as a swap for diet coke or any other less-than-ideal beverage habits.

u/renational · 2 pointsr/tea

I would recommend brewing any good south indian black tea then adding a tablespoon of:

http://www.amazon.com/Dynamic-Health-Certified-Concentrate-16-Ounce/dp/B002OVMO5M

this works well both hot and cold.

u/Master_Who · 1 pointr/AskSF

Hawaiian Sun can always be found at Takahashi market in San Mateo for the best price. If that is an issue just order it on Amazon...

u/BIGDATA_Construct · 3 pointsr/gout

I think I have bought this in the past Tart cherry juice not from concentrate

Regarding timing of results I have no idea but it depends on the following:

  • Reducing all foods and drinks[high in purines] that increase uric acid concentration.
  • Usually veggies with high purines don't cause issues
  • Keeping extremities warm so that the uric acid does not form crystals in extremities.
  • Drink more water than normal(EDIT: I mean ALOT of water ... but dont give yourself hyponatremia from too much water though.)
  • Increase things that reduce inflammation (A diet used for reducing inflammation is helpful)
-Avoid things with high fructose corn syrup (AKA: ‘fructose’ or ‘fructose syrup’. )

No prob! I have to say though, for the tart cherry porter specifically that I make, I use a tart cherry concentrate instead of the actual fruit. This is the one I use:

https://www.amazon.ca/TART-CHERRY-ORGANIC-JUICE-CONC/dp/B002OVMO5M?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0
