First 90 days:

Cycle: TTC for 22 months

Ovulation cycle day: I stopped using ovulation tests a few months ago as my cycles have always been pretty regular, and I started forgetting and didn't want to spend more money on them. I knew about when I would be ovulating, so we just made sure to hit that window. I noticed EWCM on CD 12 and my app calculated (I assume from previous history) that I ovulated on CD 16.

Relevant BD/BD method (SMEP, Shettles, etc.): BD on CD 9, 12, 14, 17 and 23!

Tracking methods and apps used: Glow app

Symptom spotting: I had fatigue and headache on CD 16 and 17 and the sore breasts began on CD 18 and haven't stopped since! I've also noticed in the past week that my nipples have been sore. The even bothered me throughout the day from rubbing on my bra! I thought it was definitely odd that my breasts were that sore for so long.

Day of positive test(s): The evening of Friday, June 2, CD 28, DPO 12! I bought a test on my way home from work because I just had a feeling. Honestly though, when I took it I was just expecting a negative, as that has always been the result. I could barely finish in the bathroom before it turned a blazing positive!! Didn't even have to use 1st morning urine!

Supplements and medications: I have been taking prenatals since before we started TTC. I wasn't sure how soon we'd conceive, so I wanted to be sure I had a good supply of nutrients in my body beforehand, in case it happened quickly. Here is the list:

New Chapter Prenatal - (3 pills a day)

NOW DHA/EPA - (1 pill a day)

Solger Folate - (1 pill a day)

Vital Proteins Beef Liver -
(I was taking 1 pill a day, now I upped it to 3 pills a day)

Viva Naturals Krill Oil - (1 pill every other day)

Great Lakes Collagen Powder - (I haven't been taking this while TTC, but I've already purchased some and will be using it every day!)

Birth control history, if relevant: I haven't been on birth control in many, many years.

Health conditions/medical tests: Chronic headaches, although I have noticed that it's pretty much food related. That and my acne. I've been eating much better the past couple months and it's made a HUGE difference. I never was tested for anything, since we were TTC for 22 months. Hubs did get tested in March and everything came back completely normal. I had my yearly checkup in July, so that was when I was going to discuss my next steps.

Other (advice, magic secrets, freaking out, miscellaneous): According to all the apps and my calculations, today I am 4 weeks, 1 day! Hubs and I couldn't be more excited!! I know it's still really early, and that scares us a little, but we've never seen a positive test before and today I AM PREGNANT! It's been a hard 22 months for the both of us, but when we saw that positive, it made it all worth it. As for how I'm feeling today: I have been cramping a little bit and my chest is still sore. No morning sickness yet, but honestly I can't wait for ALL THE SYMPTOMS! I'll be calling my doctor on Monday morning to schedule my first appointment. :D

Huh, I didn't know Thorne did their own studies, but I guess it makes sense.

They're generally regarded on here as being pretty high quality. Then again, their krill oil has some pretty bad reviews...

Looking at that study,

> Patients with hyperlipidemia able to maintain a healthy diet and with blood cholesterol levels between 194 and 348 mg/dL were eligible for enrollment in the trial.

Hyperlipidemia being excess fat in the blood, which I guess is the same as high cholesterol? Pulling off of some random site for a reference range since I'm not intimately familiar with standard cholesterol levels,

> High blood cholesterol is a major women's health issue. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one in every six adults—or 16.3 percent of the population—has high cholesterol, defined as 240 mg/dL or higher. The average cholesterol level among American adults is 200 mg/dL, which is borderline high risk.

It looks like they're doing this with up to double the "safe" levels, so I could see how basically anything would help a bunch.

One thing I'm skeptical of is that it seems like the fish oil they used seems rather weak compared to common fish oil supplements.

> A sample size of 120 patients (30 patients/group) was randomly assigned to one of four groups. Group A received krill oil at a body mass index (BMI)-dependent daily dosage of 2-3 g daily. Patients in Group B were given 1-1.5 g krill oil daily, and Group C was given fish oil containing 180 mg eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and 120 mg docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) per gram of oil at a dose of 3 g daily. Group D was given a placebo containing microcrystalline cellulose. The krill oil used in this study was Neptune Krill Oil (NKO), provided by Neptune Technologies & Bioresources, Laval, Quebec, Canada.

So I'm still going to stay conservative on comparing these and say that more fish oil > less krill oil, and fish oil is still a lot better value for the money, though if krill oil gets a lot cheaper I'd switch.

I bought these Krill oil for months, but they recently went up £3-4 per pack, and that's a bit much for me.

Currently just using two of the triple strength Omega 3's here that seem fine. I've never had burps from fish oils, so I'm not sure what the deal is with that.

These also seem great, for burpless ones, but they stopped being available here so I'd have to import from America.

Not really a supplement, but Bulletproof Coffee is incredible for keeping your energy high.

If you're not one for coffee, you could always try Yerba Mate Tea (http://www.amazon.com/EcoTeas-Organic-Yerba-Loose-5-Pound/dp/B0012BSLWU/ref=sr_1_1?srs=5856181011&ie=UTF8&qid=1380594143&sr=8-1&keywords=yerba+mate)

In terms of supplements, I personally take Athletic Greens, krill oil, iodine, vitamin D, and vitamin K-complex (links below). You can set them on a subscription and never think about them again.

Yeah, I take 2x 500mg Neptune Krill Oil and 5000IU Vitamin D as a supplement as part of a brain hack regiment, both from Source Naturals. Such a combination improves mood, concentration, and lowers stress levels.

Vitamin D toxicity has never been found in less than 20k IU a day over a long period, and Omega 3 supplementation is safe up to 2000mg of Omega 3 daily (1000mg of NKO contains about 480mg of Omega 3)

My mental health diagnosis changed, which is good I guess. You know, new things to try, new direction, all that jazz. One of the number one things you can do over the counter to help is take fish oil. My best friend from growing up and cousin are both told to take fish oil for the same thing. I am a vegetarian so I would prefer the more environmental krill oil. I keep looking at it at the store, but it is much cheaper on amazon.

Anyway, I hope the crushed bodies of sea creatures make me less crazy.

Krill oil is better absorbed and more stable. Choose one with plenty of astaxanthin (the anti-inflammatory component). I take this one.

I started out trying the Trader Joe's brand stuff - it's pretty cheap (in the store, not Amazon). I was taking four of these every morning:
https://www.amazon.com/Trader-Omega-3-Fatty-1100mg-90softgels/dp/B004TUYRTM/

These days, I'm experimenting with Krill Oil, as I've heard that it's more efficient for absorption, but haven't noticed too terribly much of a difference from the TJ brand stuff. I'm taking four of these every morning, now:

This is what i take. It gives me such an increase in awareness and makes me sharper. But that just might be a placebo effect. I'm not sure. I just know that I feel better.

Some people rave about the pork clouds.

I bought two bottles on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004TBCT4G?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

But I was at Walmart last night and saw they actually have Krill Oil in the supplement isle and it's way cheaper.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Spring-Valley-Krill-Oil-300mg-60ct/16816395

I guess one might be able to argue a quality difference to justify the price difference, but I cannot speak to that. I guess if you compare how many mg per serving, that makes the Viva cheaper

u/Joe_Tea · 1 pointr/Supplements

Hmm indeed, so obviously the site of saturation is 7 from the end of the carbon chain and therefore it is 33% more than Jarrow's krill oil :http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0013OULFQ/ref=twister_B000CC0934 and definitely sucks way more balls.

(Also I don't work for jarrows or anything, I just happened to go on a supplement/other shopping binge on amazon after getting perm banned from r/nutrition)

u/iLLyNoiZe · -1 pointsr/Supplements

Personally I split them. Not sure if I'm right, but whatever your body doesn't use gets discarded as waste. I take the Nutrigold Krill 500 mg, one in the morning and one at night.

My old professor once told me "Americans have the most expensive urine because of all the vitamins we take"
