Its all good dude, for electrolytes I like to use capsule's like these. Makes it easy and you dont have to figure out ratios on your own. You can by them seperately as Magnesium citrate, Potassium Citrate, and you can Get Sodium from kosher or Pink himilayan sea salt. Sea salt is good because it contains other trace minerals as well. For Muscle recovery Glutamine and BCAA's are amazing.
I'm no excercise elitist either. We love doing bike rides to brewerys and back. I just save the recovery until i'm done drinking. I've found that to be pretty effective.
So yesterday I tried this combo:
1 scoop Jarrow Creatine
30 mins before Jiu Jitsu.
Breakfast:
8 a.m:
1 slice of Ezekiel sourdoug toast with almond cream cheese.
Shake with Nutiva hemp protein, 1/2 banana, blueberries, water, almond milk, almond butter and a splash of flax seed oil.
Tea mix of whole foods yerba matte and spoonful of matcha.
11:30 a.m:
1 scoop BCAA in my water bottle for during class & open mat (1.5 hours)
2 p.m.:
1 scoop Glutamine
1/2 Scoop Nutiva Hemp Protein Powder
Grilled two veggie sausages with a tad of almond cheese melted on two whole wheat hot dog buns.
About 20-30 mins after eating I pretty much crashed and had to take a nap. Was tired the rest of the day. Took 1 B-complex vitamin before bed and slept in till about 8:15 am. Usually wake up before 7 and feel fine.
If it matters, for dinner I had a bowl of quinoa with grilled corn, vegetables and some seitan chorizo, a small glass of wine and after a beer.
Noticed that at Jiu Jitsu I was in beast mode but felt my mind was clear. I was worried the creatine would give me anxiety like a lot of other similar supplements often do. I felt great and had some amazing matches. Went harder with some of the tougher dudes but held my own and felt great.
I'm thinking maybe I need to work on my post workout food/routine. Maybe I need to bring a shake that's ready for right after with protein powder and glutamine or something. Any suggestions?
Since you have been on PPIs for so long you want to make sure you are not deficient in the vitamins and minerals those deplete, magnesium is most important (because of depression and anxiety) recommend magnesium glycinate, B12 and calcium. A lot of people find going vegan or sticking to only chicken for protein helps quite a bit. As far as supplements go L-Glutamine, Collagen, Slippery Elm, DGL Licorice, Zinc L-Carnosine (integrative therapeutics on Amazon, have to supplement copper or eat high copper foods to avoid deficiency) and Aloe Vera (no citiric acid added are all good). The best all in one supplement I've found for the condition is this: https://www.amazon.com/Leaky-Defense-Arabinogalactan-deglycyrrhized-polysaccharides/dp/B00Y3NR648?th=1

I like Align probiotics but I only have IBS-C. You could try that or Culturelle, which is for diarrhea. For the L-Glutamine make sure you get a powder because it gets absorbed better than pills/capsules. I use NOW Foods L-Glutamine pure powder. It's on Amazon.

BulkSupplements Pure L-Glutamine Powder (1 Kilogram) 1kg for $24.96.
I think that company is kind of shady, though. Every single time I buy anything from them, I get a followup email offering me a free product of my choosing in exchange for an "honest" review.
Jarrow has one too 1kg for $32.62, cheaper if you do the subscribe and save thing.
This one had the best taste I've found. Cheaper Chinese ones taste metallic.
Iron Tek Essential Glutamine Powder, 1.1-Pound https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NCO8BC
Here it is. If the problem is in the lower 1/3rd of the colon, this works. If it's higher up, no. The medicine has to get to the problem.

The stuff I used:

Good luck to your friend. (And I tried going plant based and it made my problems a thousand times worse. Even when I did straight juicing to reduce the fiber it was so bad. I ended up in the hospital after 30 days of that stupidity.)
Recently, I've seen some mentions of glutamine as a recovery aid, so I went ahead and got this supplement to try it out. Does anyone have any experience using glutamine to help recover from long runs? What works/doesn't work for you?
Since you're basically new I would avoid isolation workouts (e.g. an arm day or just chest day). Do compound movements for at least a month. Push pull leg or upper body one day, rest, then lower body. Someone already said buy glutamine. It's a great supplement.

This is probably the best bang for your buck.
GI Response by Innate: https://www.amazon.com/INNATE-Response-Formulas-Digestive-Gastrointestinal/dp/B00853FMWU
Also, follow all the lifestyle recommendations like eat smaller meals, avoid common triggers like spicy food, alcohol, chocolate, and put at least 2-3 hours between eating and going to sleep.
Add some L-Glutamine to your protein shake. Improve your gut with more probiotics. Buy some weights so that even when you're at your computer you can be doing curls. Getting ripped means you are literally ripping your muscles, you will feel them tear, then sleep and let them heal. They'll heal up faster with L-Glutamine.
I did try daily 250ml kefir for a couple of months, no impact. But it was the blueberry flavored one, I couldn't take the salty taste of the raw one. I might try l-glutamine. Any brand you can recommend?
I'm thinking this one
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E7TMONG/ref=s9_acsd_hps_bw_c_x_5
Just found this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001W6RHSY/ref=
has anyone tried this?
btw the instructions say to drink it right away after mixing, dont think i seen that before
Look at the serving size which I am guessing is 2 capsules. So capsule weight + L-glutamine weight times 2 would be about 1000 mg. A 0 size capsule is about 90 mg. 1000 - (2x90) = 820 mg L-glutamine in 2 capsules or 1 serving size.
Example according to this package 300 capsules, 150 servings at 2 capsules each
