Thank you very much. This is exactly what I was hoping to learn about.

My current Samsung has the Clear Motion option (or maybe it's Auto Motion Plus), but I always turn it off. It makes everything look like a soap opera. Besides that the TV has been great. I just want something a little bigger.

Picture quality is important, but I can live without 4k. We watch all our shows and I play my one game through Xbox. I will be investing into the new Scorpion in the future, which I believe will be 4k capable. Like I said, that's not a huge deal to me and if I can get a great deal on a 50-55" that does not support 4k, I'm okay with that. Smart TV also isn't a selling factor. It all depends on the price difference between the capability of 4k.

The guy who posted the Target ad shows this TV that will be on sale: https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN50KU6300-50-Inch-Ultra-Smart/dp/B01E69VEE6#productDetails . I searched for it on rting.com and the picture quality is rated as fair. It apparently suffers from constant judder. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by 24/50/60p video, but I tried to find it on the TV that I posted and I can't seem to find it. I'm going to assume maybe you mean frames and that current model does not achieve 20/50/60p video without suffering from constant judder.

I'm going to go do some more research. I don't want to come off as someone asking you to do the research for me, but you seem to know what you're talking about and I have to ask if you were in my shoes - looking for a TV in the 50-55" sized range that produces great quality judder free, 4k not hugely important (depends on price difference), and without smart options, what would you recommend?

$1000 - The best ones for that price on the market currently is either a 50 or a 55 inch Samsung 6350 series. They cost $947 or $1040 respectively. They have great specs, even better reviews and are gorgeous in person. If you set it up correctly, its picture quality is pretty ridiculous for this price range, it makes me wonder why people ever buy way more expensive TVs.

Another option would be the just released two weeks ago 50 inch Vizio P series. It is the best cheap 4K tv on the market now. That being said, the Samsung above is better in every measurable way except for resolution. Since, there wont be much 4K content for a few more years and 4K is worthless unless you plan to sit really close to it (<5ft for a 50 inch). I would go with the Samsung and wait till my next TV to go 4K (or fingers crossed OLED).

If you want bigger, I would go with the 60 inch LG 5900 series for $929. Again not as nice as the Samsung, but a really good TV for the price. One problem though is the stand is weird and you'd need to either mount it or own something wide to put it on.

Under $300 - This is actually a booming market these days, there are a lot of good options depending on what your needs are. The best two sets available are the 32 inch LG 5600 series for $279 and the 32 inch Samsung 5000 series for $297. The one caveat is that neither of these are smart TVs, if you need smart features I would go with the $298 Vizio M322. Or you could go with the LG and buy a Chromecast or Roku.

Personally I recently bought the $348 Samsung 5500 series for my bedroom and its the nicest small TV I've ever had. It works great as a second monitor (although any of these should).

Good summary up top but your analysis is clearly written from a pro-Stonemaier perspective, and as such is choosing to ignore or overlook a couple things. For reference, I wish this whole thing would get worked out because I really like most Stonemaier games but my local GG is my favorite store.

>Supposed proof that Stonemaier denies sending copies of Wingspan to Amazon. Stonemaier is correct. He did not distribute directly to Amazon. Instead, he allocated 780 copies to Flat River Distribution, who in turn allocated some copies of the 780 to Amazon.

These 780 copies were allocated to Flat River Distribution. Jamey, in his own words has said that Flat River sells to non-hobby retailers like Amazon/Walmart/Target and since those stores would get copies from somewhere, he opted to use Flat River to control the supply. So is Stonemaier selling DIRECT to Amazon? Not technically. But they're selling to Flat River with the intent of Flat River distributing those copies (or at least some of them) to Amazon, and not the local game stores he so frequently claims to support. I believe that's the point TGGCEO was trying to make -- Jamey is saying one thing and appears, at least with Wingspan, to be doing something else.

>Supposedly proof that Amazon had 1,000 copies of Wingspan

If you try to enter a quantity greater than the quantity in stock, there is a warning placed immediately above the product. Example warning message when I just tried it. The image provided by TGGCEO is simply showing that Amazon is allowing a quantity of 999 without giving that message, therefore it's likely Amazon did indeed have 999+ copies at the time that screenshot was taken.

>In the Reddit post though TGG admits to violating their MAPP agreement by using the “hide price” feature on Amazon.

The whole reason the "hide price" feature even exists on Amazon or MM/CSI is to get around MAPP agreements. And it's not just board games -- for example, this Samsung TV has "see price in cart" enabled, as do many others. You'll see the same thing with ANA titles during MM/CSI sales. For years, hiding the price has been a generally accepted way of bypassing MAPP agreements because it's communicating the below-MAPP price directly to a single customer by making them add to cart or log in. I can't fault TGGCEO for believing himself to be in compliance after hiding the price -- because until Stonemaier threw everyone a curve ball (and if your company is more strict than ANA, it's definitely a curve ball), hiding the price has been an accepted method for abiding by MAPP agreements while still offering a lower price.

I'd strongly suggest checking out http://www.amazon.com/Sony-KDL40W600B-40-Inch-1080p-Smart/dp/B00HPMCO46/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413863887&sr=8-1&keywords=w600b instead of either of those TVs. LG LEDs in particular typically have awful black levels relative to similarly priced competing models, mainly due to their decision to use IPS panels on the majority of their sets. Also, that Samsung set is an OK tv, but it is nothing to write home about.

The Sony TV I've recommended is going to have better out of the box colour accuracy than the LG, as well as better black levels than the Samsung, which will help picture quality out quite a bit.

---

Here's some further Reading:

LG
http://www.rtings.com/reviews/tv/lcd-led/lg/lb5900
The 47" Size they reviewed here did in fact have an IPS panel, though its possible the 50" variant uses a VA panel instead which will have a a pretty stark difference in picture quality.

http://televisions.reviewed.com/content/lg-50lb5900-led-tv-review/the-science This review may offer some support to the notion that the 50" uses a different type panel, as the tested results are quite different from those found in the 47" review.

SONY
http://www.rtings.com/reviews/tv/lcd-led/sony/w600b

http://televisions.reviewed.com/content/sony-kdl-40w600b-led-tv-review-3/the-science

Both offer great reviews for this TV

Samsung
http://televisions.reviewed.com/content/samsung-un32h5203-led-tv-review/the-science They reviewed the 32" model here, so it may or may not accurately reflect the 40" size, but it should at least give you a general idea. Despite a bright peak white output, black levels are pretty poor. This would be much better suited to a brighter room environment and not a mid to darker environment.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I take that to mean that for example if I take these two Sonys:
4K and 1080
which, according to the side by side comparison appear to be nearly identical except that one is 4K and the other is 1080, and played the same DVD or Blu-Ray on them, the 4K would look better because it is inherently better quality?

Would that mean that you think it's worth the extra dollar investment (in this case the 4K is $3500 and the 1080 is $1800 roughly) for quality in production and quality in picture? What about reliability?

As for the receiver/speakers. Would you suggest then a 7.1 with 2 in ceiling speakers towards the middle of the room? I'm certainly not interested in having useless technology. I'm happy to invest in high quality sound that truly surrounds us (for movies and just general music - I love the opera and have a lot of live music DVDs) and I'm honestly lost on the best way to go about this. What would your suggestion be then in terms of receiver/speakers?

edit: also did my layout description make sense? I can try to sketch it out or something if I'm incoherently rambling at this point!

u/[deleted] · 3 pointsr/hometheater

If you want a TV, then this and this would be good.

Also, a projector would work well too. This projector is amazing, but it's a bit above your budget, so you wouldn't have money for a screen. For you, I reccomend this projector. It's made by a well respected company, has great review, amazing 3D and 2D performance, and a great picture. It also leaves you with a good amount of money to buy a screen.

u/threeolives · 3 pointsr/xboxonex

I have a 43" 2015 M43-C1. You shouldn't have any issues with 4k but it doesn't have HDR10 so no HDR support. I had my PC hooked up to it and play 4k games all the time. HDR hadn't picked up any steam when these TVs came out so it was kind of a non-issue at the time unfortunately. On mine all inputs support 4k@30hz but only input HDMI 5 supports 4k@60hz. HDMI5 is the clear choice but just so you know. HDR support isn't related to 4k support, they are separate things. Easiest way to see this is just to go to video output and you should see 4k as an option regardless of anything it says about HDR> As long as it says "Your TV supports 4k resolution" up top you're fine. You can find more technical information about the TV here.

u/spies4 · 1 pointr/PKA

lmao def would check it out if I had the ability, sounds pretty decent.

Also I have a few more questions if you don't mind..

So I was also thinking about a certified refurbished 4k TV from Amazon, just not sure about that.

And then I found two 4k TCLs that are both 2018 models but I'm not sure the difference, can you tell what the difference is?

TCL 43S425 43 Inch 4K Ultra HD Smart Roku LED TV (2018) ($250)

TCL 43S517 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV (2018 Model) ($300)

Probably because one is Smart Roku and the other is Roku Smart lol /s

I also forgot to ask for TCLs is the Contrast Control Zone (CCZ) worth it? The TV would be in a bright room with lots of windows and glare.

u/peacebypiecebuypeas · 1 pointr/buildapc

That site is awesome! Holy cow. Here's their equally-great video review of the TV.

I'm pretty much sold. Two questions:

  1. While the reviews say it's great for gaming, it seems to have some issues with motion. Should that concern me?
  2. This unit seems to be fairly comparable, but it's $100 less. They say it's bad for HDR gaming, but other than that it seems to do as well. Is this worth considering, given the price difference?

Thank you for the excellent suggestion, and for sharing that amazing site!
u/rbcannonball · 1 pointr/buildapc

Looking for a 32" monitor or TV to use in my living room fora HTPC/Gaming/Couch Browsing. Best bang for buck; I've seen things like this Samsung for $200 but I don't know if that's too cheap to be worthwhile or if 32" TVs are actually just super cheap now. Thanks!

[Edit: Used is fine; I'd just like to know what to look for on CL/Amazon/whatever. Budget is sub-$400 if I can swing it]

u/bgzkinsella · 1 pointr/hometheater

I personally wouldn't do the P-series. Even after calibration, the TV doesn't reproduce anywhere near accurate color. You'll get the great clarity of 4k, but people look like oompa loompas. Even Cnet, which normally holds Vizio on a pedestal basically trashed this TV If you're not willing to move up to at least $1300-$1500, I'd suggest going with a good 2k (aka 1080p) TV. Here's some of my favorites in your price point.

Samsung UN55H6350

Sony KDL55W700 (only at best buy)

u/BobbyGT · 1 pointr/gaming

LG OLED TV's are the best, also the most expensive (easily $1,000 more than a great 4K HDR LCD/LED)

LG OLED C8 is amazing.

Look for HDR and the refresh rate. 120Hz or 240Hz would be best, 60Hz will still be fine, but you are better off going higher.

This is a great option, as it has a 240Hz refresh rate:

I'm pretty sure the only way to do that is get a new TV. However, I'm not an expert on this. Honestly I'd recommend a monitor over another TV. To put it simply, monitors are more efficient, get better resolutions for less money, and it's honestly worth all of the money you'll save just getting a monitor.

But if you're in a position where you don't/can't get a monitor for your setup: Here's a 42 inch 1080p 60 Hz TV: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-42LB5600-42-Inch-1080p/dp/B00KVLT0A4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1416676048&sr=8-1&keywords=60+Hz+tv

u/Heratiki · 14 pointsr/PS4

Your budget and requirements just won't ever match up for a "good" gaming TV. Lots of HDMI ports usually come on larger TVs and generally you'll be stuck with 3. TCL is about the only TV under $300 that has a 40" model that's even marginally worthwhile. VIZIO TV's don't look bad but have strange ways of dealing with refresh rates and scaling. I'd honestly just save up another $50 and get something you will really like that will last longer.

Maybe this Sony?
http://www.amazon.com/Sony-KDL40W600B-40-Inch-1080p-Smart/dp/B00HPMCO46

It's an older model but usually on sale because of its age. Also it has a 60hz Native refresh rate so goes really well with the PS4. Also works well with HDMI-CEC on the PS4 so you can use the remote of the TV for just about every feature of the PS4 outside of gaming.

u/shaunlol · 1 pointr/silenthill

You'd have to do your own research to see which one suits your needs best, but for me this Sony one is fantastic for the price. Would recommend. They're all fairly good nowadays, though. Just check reviews and educate yourself on specs.

u/rshalek · 1 pointr/xboxone

I am in the same boat. I am going to get a PS4 Pro and a 40ish inch 4k HDR TV for my gameroom. I currently have a 32" 720p TV in there. I plan on sitting like 4-5 feet away from it, so it should be noticeable. I dont need anything super fancy/expensive, but I do want the HDR to be noticeable which is an issue with cheaper sets.

This is the one I think I have settled on:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FWIEO2E/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I did a bit of research and its supposed to be great for gaming and has a good HDR effect given the repetitively low price. Have you/anyone reading this found a better gaming oriented 4k/HDR 40"-45" TV for the price? I plan on pulling the trigger in November or December and want to make sure I do my due diligence on it.

u/TheCheshireCody · 1 pointr/PS4Pro

Thanks for the suggestions. The TV, a Sony XBR49X800D, definitely supports HDR @ 4K. I can watch 4K with HDR on the TV's Netflix app, for instance.

I considered that the issue might be the receiver, so I did try connecting the PS4 directly to the TV but got the same results. The TV's firmware is updated, although I suppose I should check to see how (or if) the receiver's can be updated as well. The receiver, an Onkyo - I forget the model offhand - is supposed to support 4.4.4 passthrough, so also not likely to be an issue. Since bypassing the receiver still didn't produce 4K HDR through the PS4 Pro I don't think the receiver is contributing to the problem. I even dropped $12 on a pair of new HDMI cables just to be absolutely certain that I had all the right hardware. I've tweaked the settings according to a dozen different sites and videos, all with zero success. At this point, short of getting a professional installer to look at it, I'm stumped.

u/M4D5-Music · 1 pointr/gadgets

Here is a 32 inch 1080p TV for ~$270;
http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-32LB5600-32-Inch-1080p/dp/B00KVLEM7K/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1410512903&sr=1-1&keywords=1080p+screen

You can upgrade from a PS3 to a PS4 if you want, but i wouldn't recommend it unless you have friends who already own one. Many PS4 games actually don't run at 1080p anyway (Call of Duty and Battlefield for example, only display in 720p to get a higher frame rate). If you want to play games at 60fps in 1080p, then the only real option is to save up for a gaming pc build (or build one for ~$500), and use Steam's big picture mode and DS3_tool to support your controller.

*EDIT; never mind, accidentally looked at Xbox One specs, but still, future games will most likely get downsized to 720p for the PS4.

u/indrora · 1 pointr/sysadmin

I regularly pull 15Mbps on Netflix.

Using H.264 baseline, 4K video at 30fps needs about 50Mbit/s. That movie will be ~40..50GB. at 2K 29.97 ("standard" framerate) you need about 11Mbps and a final video stream of ~15GB.

A 50" 4K TV is now about $900. That TV could itself pull 20-30mbps. Black friday comes and people get them cheaper? You're looking at the $500 range. Give it another year and these will still be going down in price.

Another easy way to blow through data is (strangely) all your computers. Windows Update, once a week, can easily pull 500MB/PC. Depending on how much Microsoft updates Windows that week? yeah, you're gonna have a bad time.

Patch Tuesday also comes for WoW players, where a 40-50GB update isn't uncommon. Other MMO players have the same problem. I've easily pulled some huge patches for Team Fortress 2, DOTA and LoL.

Xbox OS is updated whole-cloth: An update can be 20 gigs easily. A house with four of them? Forget whatever data allowance you had.

http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-M43-C1-43-Inch-Ultra-Smart/dp/B00T63YUTE

You can find it for a really low price if you look around.
not the best monitor, but for watching blu-ray's, its really pretty solid. Nice contrast and black levels. Colors are really accurate after a calibration as well.

u/MyNameIsRay · 14 pointsr/buildapc

My opinion, as someone that has had basically every combination you can imagine of 1-5 monitors:

If you're going side-by-side, your suggestion is fine. Size and resolution are important, not the panel type and refresh rate.

My preference is to wall mount a TV above the PC monitor. Right now, I have a 27" 1440p monitor and a 40" Samsung LED TV right above it.

TV on sale was the same price as a monitor, $279!

If you're watching netflix/youtube/video chat, it's nice to have the bigger screen. It's higher, so a friend on your bed or another chair can clearly see over your head. It's great for a map or tutorial while gaming. I use it all the time for a guide+Discord. Plus, you can always throw cable/console/chromecast/firestick on it and watch something while gaming while not bogging down the PC.

I’m less familiar with the Vizio models but they are also similar price ranges. Overall I’d say TCL is cheapest and provides great price value and has Roku, Samsung is pricier and Vizio again idk but all three are wayyyy more credible and not necessarily more expensive

u/dodland · 1 pointr/PS4

ITT: why are people suggesting 4k Smart TVs? Honestly asking. Embedded apps are usually proprietary and they eventually stop pushing updates. Case in point: I have a 7 year old Smart Bluray player that runs Netflix like GARBAGE. Haven't bought 'smart' anything since, I'll stick with a Roku that I can swap out if it gets old. PS4 doesn't support 4k.

I mean, I get that it's not that much more expensive for a 4k TV now, but I bet OP could get a nice 1080p dumb TV for $250 with better picture quality.

the back is chunky as hell but i can stomach the price a lot easier and its still brand name.

btw, i sit like 5.5ish feet away from the screen so could i get away with a 32"? i really dont want to spend $400 if i can help it and would much rather buy this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V0923TG/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=35ISRWYN2SZG9&coliid=I7DLGTN14T7D2&psc=1

if i did go that route is that a good 32 (taking into consideration i dont care about smart)?

No problem for the wall of text :) I would like to look into a decent headset however I tend to go threw headsets pretty fast so I usually just get about a $60 headset, currently have a turtle beach headset for the mic and a Sennheiser for when I'm not talking to people.

As for the monitors the plan was to get something along the lines of this and eventually get a second one as well. Thanks for all the help though!

u/homeboi808 · 1 pointr/hometheater

You can hook up your antenna signal to your projector, you just need to buy something like this which converts the coax signal into HDMI.

Well, with a budget of $2000, the best you can get for a quality tv at a large size is Vizio's M-series at 70".

Also, since you won't likely see a difference at your distance, you can get Vizio's E-series at 70" for $1250 at Best Buy.

u/jimbonics · 1 pointr/xboxone

That should work fine, and the nice thing about Amazon is easy return if it does not.

On the TV side, I have my Surface tablet going into the HDMI-in of my xbox, and the TV serves as a wonderful second monitor. Prior to the 55" I was using a 42" and you've never seen a computer look so good.

I mean.. another 100 bucks and get a sweet ass 32"?

I have seen the 70" Sony KDL-70W850B go on sale several times. You just missed yesterday's deal for $1788 shipped.

I think this would be your best bet in the price range you are looking for, if you can keep an eye on it and wait until it goes back on sale.

edit: Good Amazon reviews Also, it might be worth a minute of your time to call Adorama and see if they could possibly honor yesterday's price, and if not ask if they know when it might go back on sale.

edit 2: Looks like that deal is still live (Expires tomorrow, 8/17), you just have to add to cart to see the discount.

u/CyberJeeves · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Getting a 4k option would certainly be quite expensive, and they tend to be larger-sized TVs than what you need. Something like the Samsung UN22F5000 is a pretty good choice for a TV/monitor that won't break the bank at $167.

u/Birkin07 · 2 pointsr/4kTV

I think I'm going with this one. Been looking for a few days. HDR 10, 4K 49 inches. 33 ms input lag with HDR on. Looked gorgeous running a demo I Best Buy. In my budget. Hope price drops by November!

u/Ohsighrus · 16 pointsr/xboxone

The Xbox One subreddit isn't very helpful here due to the moderation team deleting these threads. You'll have more luck of at /r/4kTV/ since your thread is going to get deleted. With a 4K TV, you want low input lag which on 4K tvs is hard to find. The current champion was released on 5/1/2018 which is the TCL 6 Series 4K TV. It boasts 12-14ms input where other brands are in the high 40+ms range. The TCL 6 series TV is nearly impossible to get right now, so expect 2-4 weeks shipping. You can get the 65" for $999, the 55" is $650.

These TVs are a hit or miss brand. Some people run into issues with vertical lines or dead pixels on arrival. If you run into this, keep the TV and use it until they can get you a replacement then send the old one in the other box back OR pick yours up from Best Buy and return it to store there.

When I ordered mine, Best Buy delayed my shipping 3 times but gave me $100 gift card. On the 3rd delay I canceled my order and ordered from Amazon. I paid $30 for next day air but the package arrived 3 days late. Amazon rep was super unhelpful and gave me a ton of attitude. A manager got involved and gave me $200 off the TV and refunded my $30 shipping.

One of the primary benefits from HDR is a wider color gamut. The kicker is that there are many sets that support receiving an HDR10 signal, but some of the less expensive sets have panels that only support 8 bits of color versus the full 10 bits of color that HDR10 supports. An 8 bit panel will be able to display ~16.7 million colors while a 10 bit panel can display over 1 billion colors <put pinky to corner of mouth>.

Realistically, I've been saving up for this ice cream maker so I can use it during the summer. It's a great cold treat to bring to parties on a hot day and everyone loved it when I brought ice cream or sorbet over.

Unrealistically, I've told myself that I've been saving up for this tv, which has been hiding on a private wishlist category for a while. The sound on my tv has been konking out and it would be really great if I could pull the funds together to get a new one, but its not very likely for the time being

you dont need an oled to see things fine.

You can get a last gen uhd or qled for under 1000 and still enjoy stuff up to 1440p or even 4k without it "ruining" your viewing like one of these https://www.amazon.com/TCL-65R617-65-Inch-Ultra-Smart/dp/B079NJMFL8, just make sure your getting them in store with refunds available, when you go for lower end panels they have a higher likelihood of issues so doing it online could be more hassle than going back to the store

Depends on your budget and how fancy you get. My entire setup was under $1300. I got the TCL 65r617 Roku TV for about $1000, the VIZIO SB3621n-F8M soundbar for $180, plus about $100 for a stand to mount it on. Granted it's not the fanciest TV and it's only a 2.1 system, but I find it to work wonderfully for my uses.

Well, the best HDR monitor for gaming is the Acer XB273K 27” 4K HDR400 monitor. It’ll set you back about $1,000 USD.

Or, you can go with the TCL 43S517 43” 4K HDR10 and Dolby Vision TV for about $250 USD.

TCL is used by many esports arenas and it’s been the official TV of the Call of Duty competitive circle for a few years. It’s the only TV brand with the lowest input lag for gaming.

I looked at that one and compared with a 42 inch LG on amazon that's like 20$ more. Ultimately I'm leaning towards the LG for following reasons.

  1. LG has lower input lag (good for gaming)
  2. LG is direct lit LED vs Samsung being edge lit. This can be preference but I've read people favor direct lit LED. Form vs function. Edge lit can give you thinner bezels and profile while direct may provide more even lighting.
  3. LG is a 2014 model vs Samsung is 2012

Both have 4.5 reviews on amazon but for the extra few bucks I think I will ultimately end up with the LG if I see no good cyber Monday deals today.

Amazon.ca is third party, which is likely why it's so high. Looking at the price history would suggest that it dropped to ~$720ish a few times last year..

SRP on Sony.ca is $1,499. Visions has the 700D for $1,199. No idea what the differences are between them... looks like maybe HDR Ready (whatever that means). Perhaps motionflow... whatever that is.

u/BaywardBoondocker · 2 pointsr/vandwellers

If you don't want to lose the ~15% in DC to AC conversion, you can stick with a 12v powered LED TV such as Jensen 19".

At one time, I wanted and had a 42" LED in my 24' RV and I have since traded it out for 22" LED TVs. The 42" was just way too over-powering for the viewing distance of 3'. I now much prefer have 2-3 small tv's running a chromecast on each. They are so tiny and use hardly any power. I have a Samsung 22" and it works beautifully.. the picture looks better than my mac pro with retina display. I also have the 19" version of this tv and it's just not as good.. The 22" is the sweet spot for me.

I've been looking at 50" TV's for several days, and have sent 20-30 hours of research.
My requirements maybe are unique. I'm using the TV as a play field for a virtual pinball machine. This TV needs 4K, outstanding picture is key, very fast response time, preferably 120hz @ 4K, chroma 4:4:4, display port, @ wide viewing angle are the key attributes in order to reduce game play judder, lag, etc.

The computer will be very close to or at the latest specs like: EVGA GTX 1080 GPU, Intel i7 core, 16GB Ram, air cooled, etc.

I've narrowed it down because of RTings, and a couple more sites to the Vizio P50-C1, but what is the difference between these THREE (one above) 50" Visio's; Vizio P02-ui and PO2-uiE

Not to be a jerk but searching there were a bunch of 22 inch 1080p tvs. Here is a decently rated one from samsung. I completely agree that at that size you can't tell the different unless you are standing inches away.

u/Kretennn · 0 pointsr/xboxone

Again as I said you haveno clue what you are talking about you are comparing apples and oranges where you compare Response Time to Input Lag which are completely two different things.

Besides I already pointed it to you that on console you can't see a difference under 30ms input lag because pixels take longer than that to be generated in first place. Playing shooters or anything else on console you won't notice a difference between this TV for instance and any monitor, yet this this is actual TV that has many other functions.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00U9U8RZQ/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile

here’s what i recommend

TCL S517

u/HappierShibe · 1 pointr/FFXV

Yep! That's one of the three I'm looking at.
The other two I found are the Samsung KU6300
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01E69VEE6
It has a phenomenal pricetag, and is a great all around contender with low latency and fantastic image qaulity, but it's color gamut is poor enough to make it questionable whether it really counts as an HDR tv. I've seen some rumors that a hotfix is coming that will fix the color gamut, but I think that's a load of crap.

and the Sony X800D
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FWIEO6A
Fantastic color gamut solid all around performance and a good but not great pricetag, BUT it only comes in 43 and 49 inch, and 49 is my minimum size.

It just feels weird to me to go out looking for a new TV and only find 3 real options with two of them coming from the same manufacturer.

u/theoriginalharbinger · 17 pointsr/SaltLakeCity

First, you'll want to try KSL - you're more likely to get a bite there than here.

Second, unless that's some kind high-end 4k TV with an extended warranty, you're at about double the price you'll actually get. A used PS4 goes for between $200 and $400. Splitting the difference, say you'll get $250. Your PS4 is likely out of warranty, so that knocks it back a bit as well.

Given the holiday season is approaching, a used 50" TV is simply not going to command much. A new 50-inch Samsung 4k LED goes for about $850 on Amazon - used, that's worth maybe $500-$600. Black Friday deals and Superbowl Sunday deals means that this is quite literally the worst time to be trying to sell a TV, as most big box stores will have steep discounts.

Overall, you should be pricing those two items, combined, at between $500 and $800. You're never going to get $1300 for them unless you're throwing in a lot of games with the PS4.

u/TimmmyBee · 2 pointsr/xboxone

Hey all, got the one x and an looking to upgrade my TV as well. I've heard decent reviews for this one as a decent budget option.

Anyone have experience with it or other recommendations?

u/zarhockk · 1 pointr/4kTV

This one? It said the offer expired, but it is still available on Amazon. I can't find the comments on their article.

u/blizzz3 · 0 pointsr/4kTV

Thats $300 more, I dont know if that would be worth it. This is the one I'm looking at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07986PJ7M?pf_rd_p=d1f45e03-8b73-4c9a-9beb-4819111bef9a&pf_rd_r=FDW512DDAZMRFJE6NH75

u/Ykcor · 1 pointr/xboxone

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN55H6350-55-Inch-1080p-120Hz/dp/B00I94IPTW

44ms input lag on "gaming mode" and pretty reasonable.

u/Fimconte · 3 pointsr/Monitors

A good monitor at that size and price is going to cost too much.
For $200-$300, a decent TV is a much more realistic option.

For 32" this LG or this Samsung are both ~$250.
For 40", you're looking at the low 300 (that same LG model)+.

u/Tyronn_Lue · 2 pointsr/4kTV

Or the Sony X850D -- roughly $898 for 55-inch and a step up from X800D.

Sony X850D Amazon Link

u/killerhurtalot · 2 pointsr/xboxone

Maybe a smaller TV?

Smallest KS8000 I can find is $900 on Amazon for the 49" model

u/DanCTapirson · 3 pointsr/PS4

You can get a 4k hdr TV for around $560 from Amazon warehouse deals Sony XBR43X800D 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD TV (2016 Model) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FWIEO2E/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_Wo2hyb2JQCPQX

u/fl3x0 · 1 pointr/4kTV

X800D - 49" - $750 @ Amazon - you have 30 days to return without penalty, so you can still pick up the X800E if this one doesn't work for you.

u/JMGurgeh · 22 pointsr/funny

Vizio has a 50" for about $800, and LG offers a 49" for $900. Not huge, but not exactly tiny.

Of course, on Amazon you can also get a 55" curved set for $1800 - so only about an 80% markup (no, it probably isn't a fair comparison).

u/Nez0r · 1 pointr/PS4

That budget is low for a 4k hdr tv with low input lag. This is a pretty good tv but small https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/ol/B01FWIEO2E/ref=mw_dp_olp?ie=UTF8&condition=all.

u/a1blank · 1 pointr/ouya

Depending on what size you're looking for, both of these are sub-$200, 1080p, and have hdmi inputs. I have one quite similar to the samsung I linked.

Samsung ($186)

Vizio ($178)

Of the two, I'd go with the samsung.

u/hagdoll · 1 pointr/battlestations

Sony Bravia KDL40W600B 40 Inch. Although I paid a lot more than that price there because I'm in Australia and we get shafted for that sort of thing.

The M43-C1 has an actual refresh rate of 120. That's why you look for TV's with "240hz" http://www.amazon.com/VIZIO-M43-C1-43-Inch-Ultra-Smart/dp/B00T63YUTE

u/mrcooliest · -2 pointsr/buildapcsales

I dont see the point of buying this when you can get this for the same price and have HDR.

u/BadFishCM · 2 pointsr/xboxone

I got a Samsung MU6300 for around 300$ on Black Friday, it normally sells for 350-500 depending on where you get it. I was looking for a not to expensive 4K tv and it gets the job done and is nights and day compared to
My old Tv.

Edit: Link added

u/enuct · 2 pointsr/xboxone

High contrast ratio, High refresh rates. Most of the sets I saw were 60hz + 60 hz to mimic 120, HDR10. I'll link the one I got, you can compare it to the previous models.

u/IcemanBlizz · 1 pointr/FFXV

There really is no way to nail everything. Though, the Samsung UN49KS8000 does have good input lag, 4k and HDR at 49 inches under $1100. The input lag at 4k with HDR is 21.1 ms. The color gamut for Rec 2020 for this model is roughly average for high-end TV covering about 65% to 75% of the gamut.

If I were buying now, this would be the one I'd get. That said, my Sony Bravia from 2011 is still going strong and I probably won't buy until after I move in a few years.

u/colmerica · -2 pointsr/hometheater

I would look at the Samsung 6350 instead of the 7150, essentially the same set but the 7150 has smartTV and 3D while the 6350 does not. Since OP said he doesn't want these features, I'd consider the (cheaper) 6350.

50" is $750, 55" is $900

Didn't want to make a new topic for this question, but this is my tv. I don't see it saying anything about HDR anywhere. Anyone know if it's an HDR tv?

u/subheight640 · 1 pointr/changemyview

Please, prove your point by showing me a single smart phone with anything longer than a 3 year warranty. Or find anything longer than a 2 year warranty that doesn't force you to pay additional fee to get that warranty).

EDIT: Hell, a Samsung LCD television only has a 1 year warranty. Are you suggesting that we shouldn't complain when our LCD television suddenly breaks in 2 years?

u/CatboyMac · -2 pointsr/PS4

4K TVs are dirt cheap nowadays, though.

This set is $650

https://www.amazon.com/Sony-XBR49X800D-Class-Ultra-Black/dp/B01FWIEO2E/

u/autokeyrere · 1 pointr/hometheater

I thought from reading the buying guide that if you are running a cable box the 4K TV might not look that great running 1080p HDMI? Is that incorrect?
This was the TV i was most considering. The couch is about 6-8 feet from the TV.

That is a 22 inch TV that costs 0.5 bitcoins.

Hi guys, looking for a low-input lag TV recommendation.

It seems so hard to find a TV online with low input lag in the specifications in Singapore in 2019.

I'm trying to find a <20ms input lag, 4K, 43" TV if possible. Primarily will use as a computer monitor and switch dock display.

The best I've seen is only available in the US and I am contemplating using ezbuy to ship it over, meaning extra costs. It's the TCL 43S517 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07986PJ7M/)

Is there any recommendations that you guys have?

u/robotdinofight · 38 pointsr/hometheater

$1000- I would get the TCL 65R617 instead of the LG to give more money to the audio budget.

$300 (incl. shipping)- Denon X1400H

$486 (incl. shipping)- 3x RBH R-515 LCR

$225 (incl. shipping)- 2x RBH R-5 for surrounds

$75 (incl. shipping)- Monoprice Caliber In-Ceiling Speakers, 8in Fiber 2-Way (pair) for atmos speakers

$607 (incl. shipping)- HSU VTF-2 MK5 Subwoofer

All of those will total up to $2693, leaving $307 for cables, surge protector/ battery back up, stands/ mounts. If you want to spend a tiny bit more, you can upgrade the LCR to the R-515E models for an extra $300.

This will give you a killer, 4K, Dolby Vision, HDR10, 5.1.2 timbre-matched set up with an incredible subwoofer that you can get right now (RBH speakers are on sale currently.)

u/Perfekt_Nerd · 1 pointr/PS4Pro

You won't find one under $600. HDR10 is the literal cutting edge.

Here's one for about 700, but it's 43": https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01FWIEO2E?tag=rtings-tv-bs10b-20&ie=UTF8

If you want 4k HDR10, you're looking in the $1k range for the next 1-2 years. Sorry mate :(

PS. That's why I'm waiting to buy a TV myself. Seeing what's in the cards next year.

u/darkm0d · 138 pointsr/news

And, generally, prices are higher for the "lower prices" merchants because they have high shipping, and you'll never know what shady as fuck carrier they plan to use (USPS Sure post hell)

Here is an example. A TV.

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-UN22F5000-22-Inch-1080p-60Hz/dp/B00BCGRX9M/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1395257197&sr=8-2&keywords=tv

PRIME: Price: $408.97

When looking into other merchants, there is a lower price with free shipping. $399.00 from Beach Camera.

Do I think the amazon Prime offered sale is artificially inflated in price? Fuck no. I assume it's just not as discounted as the offer from Beach Camera. BC might be willing to lose just a tiny bit more room on the sale, and I am pretty damn sure shipping will suck ass, certainly not a 2-day guarantee.

Edit: Also for fucks sake, AMAZON TELLS YOU "Hey, you could get this slightly cheaper by checking out these other vendors" They have the transparency to fucking let you know when someone is competitively beating their prime bottom line. You just take the risk of really bad shipping speeds. What more do people want.
