I'd say if you've been trying 34D and those bands felt too tight, try 34DD because too-small cups make the band feel tighter. Make sure to do the scoop and swoop to get all your breast tissue into the cups, and position the underwire in your inframammary fold (IMF).

It's also good to be able to compare sizes in the identical style of bra, as much as possible. That way you can make a direct cmparison, and by paying close attention to the differences in how the sizes feel, you can learn a lot about what fits you better. So trying 34DD and maybe 36D in the same style, and if you get spillage after scooping and swooping, you need to go up to either 34E UK 34DDD in US sizing) or 36DD, because when you go up a band size but keep the same cup letter, you're also going up a cup size as well, since cup sizes are proportionate to band sizes. If the 36 bands seem to ride up in back, then you probably are better in a 34 in a larger cup size.

You can do fit checks at any time with pictures being completely optional. Just be sure to give thorough descriptions of the fit and any issues you have, as well as the make, model, and size of the bras you're fit-checking.

Regarding slipping straps, making them tighter than what is comfortable to you is basically never the answer. If you have sloped shoulders (it doesn't sound like it, but it's definitely possible) then you may need to have either a racer-back adjustment, or something like this. You may find that a better-fitting size does the trick. Straps that are set closer in on the shoulders tend to stay up better than wider-set ones. How to tell if they will stay up before you actually buy and wear the bra? Walk around, move around as you normally would, raise your arms over your head and in front of you, simulate activities like lifting, reaching, typing, bending over and so forth. You should be able to tell within 10-15 minutes if slipping straps is going to be a major problem.

Also, thinner straps tend to be preferred for style and are typical in cup sizes up to D, but wider/thicker ones may stay up better in many cases.

Edit: Someone just posted a link to this bra in another thread, and while I've never seen it in person and don't know much about the fit, it looks like a style and strap that would be good for staying up. Might be worth a try. In general Fantasie bras run fairly generous in the band, so I'd suggest trying 34DD in it, or if you can order a couple of sizes then 34DD and 34E.

Yep, you're in the right place! :)

First thing I want to say is I recommend checking your size with us. We have instructions on how to measure yourself here. This is something I mention to basically everyone who comes through here, but I think it's especially important for brides because your breasts will look their best, get the most lift and support, and be the most comfortable in a well-fitting bra.

It looks like a low-back converter (example) might be an option to consider. That would allow you to wear a regular bra and not have to worry about finding something with a low back. They can compromise fit and support, however, so if you're interested in going this route make sure you try the bra on with the converter ahead of time.

Check our special event guide and see if there's options for you on there. All the size ranges are in UK sizing unless otherwise noted. There are size conversion charts you can reference here

Oh man, Hidden Glamour! That was the bra Nordstrom fitted me into. It sure didn’t do me any favors and I bet it’s not doing much for you either. Compare pictures of me in Hidden Glamour and Panache Idina.

I agree with the calculator results. 34C is too small in the cups and too large in the band, especially a stretchy band like Hidden Glamour has. Check to see if it fits like a boob hat. In my pictures the giveaway is the vertical cleavage folds.

When you’re wearing the right size I suspect the gaping between cup and breasts will lessen. Right now your breasts are pushing the cups away from your body because they’re too small. If you have short roots some strap gap will be unavoidable and isn’t considered a fit issue if not excessive. Your straps will stay up more often too. I also have narrow shoulders and one sits lower than the other so I know the struggle. I finally bought some of these.

I’m sorry I can’t recommend any lined bras from my own experience because I have yet to find one that fits. If you go Polish with Ewa Michalak or Comexim there are lots of choices but their sizing isn’t always consistent and returns aren’t free. It’s best to get your size nailed down with a good UK bra first. Fit issues are easier to see in unlined bras. The shape guide doesn’t have any recommendations for a lined bra for fob shapes either. I recommend you choose one style from the fob list and try it in a couple of sizes. Curvy Kate newer styles tend to work well for narrow and short rooted projected breasts. Try Florence in 32DD.

I'm really surprised a dress like this from a mid- to high-end designer doesn't have something built in. For future reference in case some future bride/prom/formal event-goer stumbles across this, a good seamstress could build something in to the top using the bra that you have that makes it fit better. Especially if all you are looking to do is fill the dress out and not so much get support. If you don't have the time to search for another seamstress or tailor to help you out, I would look for a backless corset or bodysuit that has a bra or padding built in that is cut the same to wear underneath. Something like this or this might work if you can find a place to try them on with the dress before hand. If you go with one of these, you can always tack the straps down to the edges of the back of the dress when you are getting ready with a needle and thread to make sure nothing moves on you.

Good luck and congratulations!

What have you been wearing currently? It's strange to reach this size and having stayed at DD cups? Must have been horrible. At this size range boobs become way heavy to be in a bra too many sizes off.

Personally I am sister sizing and using smaller cups and bigger bands that I should because of money and ease of getting bras in bigger bands. I wear Ewa Michalak and Comexim. I prefer Comexim because of my narrow roots, the Ewas can be rough on my ribs and armpit.

You'll have to look online and soak yourself in bra knowledge to fit yourself. Learn about bra sizes, brands, availability and such, the resources here and Bratabase are specially useful.

It depends a lot on each person, but at this point I'm not too obsessed about getting a perfect fit. A couple of my bras are one or two cups too small and I make do. I do wear bra liners(or socks even!) under my bra wires to protect my ribs and shoulder silicone pads for protection if I want to make it through the day.

u/DarthRegoria · 2 pointsr/bestoflegaladvice

I’m not going to downvote or disagree with that the straps can be heavy on your shoulders, but I will second that you should check out r/abrathatfits. Many women wear bras where the cups are too small but the bands are too big/ loose around the back. The majority of the support should come from the firm band, not the shoulder straps holding them up. I really strongly suggest you check your measurements, because a good, well fitting bra should help ease shoulder pain.

I’ve also got some of these silicone strap cushions that help spread out the weight across the shoulders, and stop them from slipping down if that happens to you. It did to me a lot until I got a better fitting bra.

u/spacenb · 3 pointsr/ABraThatFits

This seems like a pretty typical Freya unlined plunge balcony: good for FoB to even, average to slightly wide root width, nice projection near the wire and overall... I would say that most of their bras, except a few outliers like Gem or Rio, or Oh La La which runs narrower, could do the trick for you. I would have loved to be able to make recommendations according to the Faye measurements for your specific size, but unfortunately Bratabase doesn't seem to have a lot of info in 38G since it's at the fringe between the plunge balconies and the regular balconies. But I would say, a lot of Freya unlined plunge balconies are susceptible to work for you if Faye did. You may just find that they will give you a slightly less rounded shape, but nothing too extreme, and of course they won't be like replicas of Faye, but the fit has a lot of chances to accommodate you.

If you find that bra straps are still an issue in other models, I would recommend just a quick thingie like this, it will help keep them in place without making a cross back.

u/buymeflowers · 2 pointsr/ABraThatFits

There's actually a bunch of Decos with j-hooks, Delight, Charm, Fuse, Amore... I think I'm forgetting some. You'll want to double check bratabase, as they each have their own little fitting quirks. And, unfortunately, many people find Freya bands to run quite large, which might make you effectively sized out since they don't offer anything below a 28 band.

Have you tried racerback clips with your normal bras? I have this style (thought not this specific brand): https://www.amazon.com/Strapper-Original-Clips-Strap-insert/dp/B01483N1GO/ref=sr_1_46?ie=UTF8&qid=1518279984&sr=8-46&keywords=racerback+clips
and they work really well, and are a lot more comfortable in between my shoulder blades than some of the other styles. The only caveat is that some of my bras don't have straps that adjust long enough to use these (I'm pretty tall with low set breasts, though, so I need a lot of strap even without using the clips).

u/aznphenix · 2 pointsr/AskWomen

I think the most universal option would be getting one of those racerback clips, but I'm not entirely sure how well those work.

I think the easiest way to get a racerback is to repurpose a multiway (cross the straps in the back) rather than finding a bra that specifically has a T-back, but recommending a specific bra would require a lot more info about size and shape. In general I recommend pretty expensive brands (since they're the ones that make a decent enough size/shape range - Ewa Michalak, Freya, Panache, etc.). I think Wacoal and Natori might have some more affordable options (if you're in the US - think they might be more expensive if you're elsewhere).

u/annoyingbranerd · 2 pointsr/ABraThatFits

I would recommend bra strap holders like these:

https://www.amazon.com/6-Piece-Adjustable-Non-Slip-Elastic-Holder/dp/B07D8MY4DG/

Note that they are significantly cheaper on aliexpress / wish . I would also recommend getting the version with the clips in the middle, easier to put on and off.

I have a week-long festival that I go to each year as well, and it's almost always incredibly warm and humid. I bring a couple of these with me, I wear something loose and flowing so there's a decent airflow, and I apply a 48-hour antiperspirant under each breast before putting the bra on. If you want to have some extra support, using one of these on the brastraps will be a huge help.

u/legal_beagle · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

I have a set of these that I use to keep my bra straps from showing when I wear tank tops. They just help keep the shirt strap attached to the bra strap so they don't end up in wonkity different places on my shoulders. :)

u/CatenaryFairy · 5 pointsr/ABraThatFits

If you find a dress that works with a strapless bra, there are a number that are available, depending on your shape (projected, shallow, wide, narrow, etc). If you aren't sure of your shape, you can check our our beginner's guide. A strapless bra will be pretty uncomfortable if it's not the right shape and size, so while you're checking our our beginner's guide, you should measure yourself to double check your size. Some common strapless bras I know of are the Curvy Kate Luxe, Cleo Neve Strapless, Freya Deco Strapless, Wacoal Red Carpet Strapless.

If you need a backless bra, you can use [a low back converter] (http://www.amazon.com/Fashion-Forms-Womens-Adjustable-Converter/dp/B007H52HKC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1456804397&sr=8-1&keywords=low+back+bra+converter) which can take a regular bra and turn it into a low back bra.

For a lace back dress, you could have a seamstress add a nude panel behind the lace if you can't get a low back converter to go low enough. Unfortunately that isn't a solution outside of having the dress altered, but it is less drastic than your last possibility, which is having a comfortable bra sewn into your dress.

I have some of these clips. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012XFR25U/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1944687622&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B005HTB5L2&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0GBRR73FNSZK1DHEQNK3
They work OK if your bra straps are long enough. They are nice because you can put them exactly where you need them. Sometimes j-hooks are too high up for me.

u/needchr · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

yeah sure, I would suggest one of these 2 products.

https://www.amazon.com/Strap-Tamers-Reusable-Concealers-Pack/dp/B0064BL882

https://www.magiccurvesusa.com/collections/innermate-accessories/products/bra-strap-tamers

You might see I guess if looking hard part of the clip on outside of clothing, but it should be more sightly than a fallen bra strap, and the peace of mind of been able to relax your posture without worrying about the problem.

u/castikat · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

If you use one of these on the front and another on the back, you can wear a regular bra. Just make sure the band is firm and supportive and you loosen up the straps before clipping.

u/textibles · 6 pointsr/femalefashionadvice

Has anyone had any luck with bra strap converter clips or straps?

u/zaralynda · 3 pointsr/ABraThatFits

my experience with those adapters is that the staps need to be really long because the adapter puts the straps almost touching. I usually wear my straps on the tightest adjustment and if the straps are only partially adjustable, I cant make them long enough to use this adapter.

This type worked much better for me because it doesnt pull the straps so tight. RAZOR Bra Strap Clips Holder Women’s Beige, Black, White https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E5TWQUI/

u/craigslistaddict · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

You can get something like this https://www.amazon.com/Braza-Converter-Strap-Holder-Style/dp/B008BWSMEA (or the other product suggestions) to convert the straps to a racerback style!

u/peppermind · 3 pointsr/AskWomen

There are converters that you can buy that connect the straps on a regular bra in the back to turn it into a racerback style. I'm not quite as busty as you but they work fairly well for me.

u/aowi · 2 pointsr/ABraThatFits

With something like this work? You’ll be able to convert all your bras to racer back. Probably.

u/noffsferatu · 6 pointsr/weddingplanning

Would something like this work?

u/Lanilegend · 4 pointsr/TrollXChromosomes

Have you ever tried a lowback bra? Amazon has some pretty neat ones I'll link below. As for shoes how about some strappy sandal kitten heels or flat sandals? I'll link you a couple pairs I have that are simple and cute

First off, that bra is resting wayy too high on your back, as others have mentioned. So first get a bra that fits better.

This product might help to make your new bra lower:
Coco’s Closet Low Back Bra – Adjustable Bra Extender for Backless Dress – Nude 2 Hook Strap Converter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DC8YY6C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_zK-5CbAHNSA23

Get one of these!

You hook it on to your bra straps but then wrap it around your body for support and it crosses lower down on your back.

u/evespeach · 5 pointsr/ABraThatFits

There are clips you can buy to convert your regular bra into a racerback. Something like clip, but I can't recommend any. Alternatively you can buy a bra with a J-hook. Mine

u/teenbean12 · 1 pointr/ABraThatFits

Mostly likely your bra is not the correct size in the cups or the band or both. I highly suggest measuring yourself and use the calculator in the sidebar to figure out your correct size.

In the meantime you could look into buying yourself some bra strap clips. Here is a random link to show you what i’m referring to. amazon
They may make it harder to put your bra on. Also if you are on the larger side, they may not work for you.
