Okay. So. Striping tape is fun!! Here's an awesome mix n' match striping mani! This is another cool mani with matte and regular finishes. And glitter. Because yeah. you could also do a lot with some bold colors and striping tape! This amazing mani used sponging and striping tape. The result is stunning!! Here is another sponged striping mani! Neons are always fun!

I've only ever lived at home and at the apartment I am in now. While the apartment itself is nice, my neighbors are not so nice. The neighbors to me left are fine - I rarely see or hear them, and the chick living there and I had a nice conversation about polish while on our respective patios. The people across the hall are CONSTANTLY slamming the freaking door. Like, honestly, how many times can they leave a day, and WHY must they always slam?! Plus their grandkid/son/whomever it is always manages to get locked out and bangs on the door and yells through it like, "Yeah! It's me! Let me in! Seriously! C'mon, LET ME IIIINNNNNN!!!" Ughhhhhhhh. The neighbors to my right are always in an argument. SCREAMING at one another, slamming the door, and moving their shit into the hallway. Like, legitimately dragging the mattress into the 3-foot-wode hallway. Plus bags of stuff. And they're messy. They are the end apartment and there's baby wipes and wrappers in front of their door all the time. It isn't from anyone else but them. Then they are LOUD on the patio. SCREAMING at their kids to get off the patio, telling them they're not out there. Errrm, then just close the fucking door and don't let them out? Or else watch them so they can't gee out. Or, here's a bright thought, discipline your children so they actually listen to you and don't keep on trying to go outside when they're far too little to be out there on their own four freaking stories up. Ya, know. Oh, and I saved the best for last! The people above us are ALWAYS stomping. All times of the day. 3am? Yeah, let's run down the hallway. 11pm? Let's jump up and down for 20 minutes. I swear they have a bowling alley. What's even creepier is that when they drop things (and this happens OFTEN), it sounds like the thing bounces. Like, did they rip up the carpeting to make it louder or something?! I don't know. At least I've almost tuned it out by now. I seriously had a friend come over and ask if the upstairs neighbors were that loud all the time. She (half)jokingly suggested that they have their own personal bowling alley up there. It really is that bad. Oh, and the elevators are forever broken. Luckily I usually opt for the stairs, but when I'm trying to bring a cart full of groceries inside it's kind of a bitch to haul them up four stories. And did I mention that the lock on the front door is broken once a month? I wish I were exaggerating. If they took one apartment's rent from one month they could buy a whole new door. But do they? NO. lolol, omg, sorry about my tangent. BUT YOU ASKED, OKAY?! <3 Here's to hoping that your apartment and neighbors are awesome and quiet!

"Cephalopod" is a pretty cool word. Look at this octopus! With spots!! Ohhhhhhh, and this cuttlefish is pretty!

I like beverages. You should try the June bug! Freaking orange sherbet for the win!!

Uhmmm, Hello Kitty is my favorite EVAR!! Like, I even have a tattoo. lol. I have been eying this tote foreeeeeeever! Also, this bento box is adorbs. Okay, maybe you should just look through my entire Hello Kitty Amazon list for ideas. Bahahaha.

Oh, and for the essie list so you don't have to track me down in the event that I were to win this amazingness! I love: charmeuse, braziliant, watermelon, fifth avenue, after sex, who's she red, jewel, curve ball, click it or ticket, capri, super bossa nova, and really red! <3 THANK YOU for a really fun gauntlet and the opportunity! =)

I actually run a company that MAKES travel stickers and patches (http://www.vagabondheart.co) and I've put them on an Away suitcase, which has ridges, no problem. You just sort of put them on slowly, end to end, and try to get as little tucked into a ridge as possible.

I would say your best option is Raden luggage, which is almost perfectly smooth, but here's the hitch: The company shut down because they're one of those smart battery luggage companies and there's new rules against that. But the good news is all their luggage is on super discount on amazon. They were a couple hundred bucks and now they're 70 dollars because the company is dead. So you can get a really great deal on a bag and then you just have to take the batter out before you fly with it.

https://www.amazon.com/Raden-Carry-Luggage-Black-Matte/dp/B01MRJ27ZJ

I've also put them on the Amazon Basics hardside spinner which has ridges instead of dips, and so they go on there really easily and look good. They have a bright orange and a blue as far as colours.

https://zerohalliburton.com/products/zro-polycarbonate-28-travel-case?sscid=a1k3_11xwt

https://www.skywayluggage.com/products/glacier-bay-carry-on - This is a nice green colorway.

Samsonite has a couple, I think.. Same with Victorianox.

And if you've got money to spend the Rimowa ones are like the amazon one in that they have bumps rather than dips, so you could get stickers on pretty easily and they'd look good.

Or to get the most old school stickered luggage vibe check out GlobeTrotter.

Hope that helps!

For anyone Traveling for the first time here are some tips as a perpetual convention goer / high travel worker:

  1. If possible Have a partner- Particularly one you know in advance; if you get lost, its best to be lost together.
    • Rooming with someone you don't know in a strange town is dangerous. they could room with you, then bail with your loots.
    • Room with someone in your local area if possible.
    • Rooming with the opposite gender is fine, but remember you are sharing space, and to be mindful and respectful of each other (its hella impolite to bring the hot Femqo'te or Manqo'te with questionable morals back to your room for sexy funtimes if you are rooming with a stranger)
  2. Have a Lock for your suitcase- This will only go so far with Cloth luggage, but is usually sufficient deterrent for most people looking for an easy loot score.
  3. Keep your Travel bags light. you never know whats coming home with you. a Good rule is to have a carry on, and a checked piece.
    • have your carry on containing your crucial goodies- Underwear, socks, deodorant, 2 pairs of clothes, and anything you wouldnt want to be stranded without (aka your tickets to the fanfest , and your tickets home)
    • Have your checked piece at least half empty- carrying things like spare clothes and stuff you aren't too worried about. this will be the bag you bring lootstuffs home in.
  4. were going to vegas.... going out at night is dangerous at the least. if you go out- go out in groups, and behave responsibly.
    • Were all adults, and this is relevant to everyone: if you are going to use, drink, or hook up, its a good idea to have a wingwoman or wingman to keep an eye out for you, and to check up on you the next day- a lot of bad can happen in a tourist town.
  5. Get there a day early- its a fun town if you've never been, and there is a lot to do (don't loose all your money at the blackjack table.)
  6. Depart on Saturday night after the event ends, or Monday morning. Traveling on Sunday is usually a painful experience, as well as more expensive, avoid at all costs)
  7. let family know you are going. if you dissapear its a good idea for someone to know where you went and what you are doing
    • check in regularly with them- even if your an adult, rely on your parents if your single, or your SO if not. it seems childish, but it is better to be safe.
  8. do not glomp the yoshi. its particularly rude to run up and hug anyone- ESPECIALLY cosplayers and guest speakers. (tho soken might enjoy it....) Always ask permission to hug anyone or take a photograph of/with them.
  9. If you are changing more than 1-2 time-zones, it is a good idea to offset your sleep schedule accordingly the day prior to
traveling so that you are acclimated to the time difference- nothing is worse than getting to Vegas from the east coast and then having to peter out at 8pm because you are tired.
  10. N E V E R let someone use your phone if you do not know them. "i'm sorry its dead, and my charger is in my room"
  11. Lock up anything electronic, or valuable in your luggage when you leave your room.
  12. Have Food money - At least 50/Day. you certainly wont spend this much if you eat reasonably, but its best to be safe in case you need some disposable cash on hand.
  13. call your bank and let them know When and where you are traveling. most banks will lock cards up if they see them move across country, and you will be stuck trying to get them to unlock it when you go to buy something (like your breakfast the next day). Calling them in advance lets them flag you as traveling in their systems and stops any auto-lock actions. this is universal for all big banks these days.
  14. Bring a camera. you will regret not having pictures of this, (unless you have a good camera on your cellphone)
  15. Good idea to get to the airport an hour early. its better to be early and waiting, than to be late and miss your flight.

Can anyone recommend a zip-top, medium to large sized tote bag with a cross body strap and minimal hardware/branding in the sub $150-200 range? Preferably in black and in a material that can handle light rain.

I recently ordered this bag in black for an upcoming trip. I really like how it looks, it's water resistant and well made, but it's simultaneously both huge on the outside and too small on the inside. Like a reverse Mary Poppins...

I really like the size and simplicity of this baggu tote, but I know I don't have the sewing skills to add a zipper in a good looking way before my trip. I also checked out the Madewell transport satchel but was pretty underwhelmed by the feel of the leather handles/strap for the price point. This Cuyana bag is really nice, but is at the top of my budget and maybe not very weather resistant. I'd prefer something I could evaluate in a brick and mortar store before purchasing.

Thanks!

Echoing that it I absolutely prioritize comfort and practicality over fashion for luggage.

Right now I have a carry on 21" spinner (Delsey) I can't find the exact one but this one has more similar wheels which has turned out great. It's pretty much as big as I'll ever need -- I packed most of my clothes for college in it after expanding it. The construction seems great but I've only had it for a year.

For smaller bags I have this Nike gym bag that I primarily use for the gym but I've been known to toss it in the wash and take it with me on small trips (~4 days) because it's a free carry-on on Frontier.

Then I have a (normal school) backpack which tbh I use more than anything else. It's this Hershel backpack -- which I use as a personal item (I generally fly Southwest so I have the carry on + backpack). ETA: Maybe it's because I'm not actually fashionable IRL but I prefer to carry a backpack rather than a purse when travelling because I can carry stuff in it (let's be real I use this bag to carry my groceries at college) -- including a small camera, some snacks, my wallet, jacket, etc. I unexpectedly had to stay at a hostel recently (didn't pack light at all) and I'm probably paranoid but it gave me peace of mind to carry my passports, wallet, and a couple other valuables on my person rather than leave them in the room.

Be realistic on how much you want to invest in luggage. Depending on how much travel you do don't discount grabbing a cheap bag from Walmart/Target. When we were kids my parents just got us cheap bags knowing that they'd be abused. My Target bag lasted 10 years, my brother has one from Walmart that was $30 is 18+ years old and still is going strong (it's been on all family trips -- min of 4/year -- and to 8 band camps).

After graduating from highschool a family friend bought me a suitcase (I believe it is an older version of this model).

I can't tell you how much mileage I've gotten out of the thing! (To and from school, and professional school, multiple vacations around the world, day and weekend trips). 21" is a great size as it works well as my second carry on item, and I can pack it full of cloths (I can fit roughly a weeks worth of cloths in that little bag). I've really abused it over the years and it is still in perfect condition. To this day, it one of my most useful presents I've ever gotten, and that was 8 years ago. Also, symbolically it was really the perfect gift upon leaving the "nest".

I am sure there are better models out today and recommend you ask the BIFL community (or search a previous posts on the subject) about which particular model you should get I would recommend a 21 inch Samsonite/American Tourister from my personal experience.

edit: If I were in the mood to buy a replacement this is probably what I would buy

(I say mood, because I am not sure if there will ever be a time I will need to replace the one I have considering how durable it has been)

Item which would most help you achieve a goal. We're designing and building our own home over the next couple of years so the book would be very helpful in achieving that goal. It is located on my House Design wish list.

Best item to bring to a deserted island. Eating is important, being able to cut things is important for eating. On my Cooking & baking list.

Who needs revision?!

This Hammock would be a great way to find time to relax, curl up with a book, some shades, and enjoy the sun!

This totebag would be great. I'm going on vacation to the beach in just a couple months and it would come in handy! :D

Thanks so much for the contest and best of luck to you!!

It is uncommon for freshmen to obtain good internships, but you can't get them if you don't try.

/r/malefashionadvice is a fine resource.

Your bare minimum includes: (I assume you are male)

Leather shoes, preferably dressy.
Casual pants (Dockers, Duck Heads)
Leather belt that compliments or matches shoes.
Dress shirt - long sleeve, with button down collar.

Basically this overall look:

example1 example2

That's your bare absolute minimum.

Depending on your shirt selection, you can add a tie to step things up a notch. Recommended if you are dealing with serious employers.

Your next step up is to add a blazer to achieve this basic look:

example3 example4

Your last logical / typical / common step up is the basic suit, which is pretty similar to the blazer look, just more coordinated and less casual.

example5 example6

If you are going to buy a suit, I encourage you to go to a proper suit store.
Men's Warehouse, Joseph A Bank or something similar.

Get something in the $200 to $400 range -- And pay extra to have it tailored or fitted to you.
An off the rack suit can look baggy when they don't fit you well. This can damage your overall appearance.

Pay attention to the tailors & sales people. Think about color combinations so you can mix and match items for maximum re-use.

Dry-Clean the suit. If you are good with an iron, you don't have to dry-clean the dress shirts, but I recommend that you do so anyway. Dry-clean neckties only if you get them actually dirty.

DONT go cheap on the shoes. Spend $100 not $35 if you can. It really does impact the overall look.

You don't need to buy it from the suit-people, they might include one for free, but I very strongly encourage you to invest in a proper garment bag, kind of like this: garment bag and keep your suit(s) in the bag at all times.

That will keep it fresh, unfaded from the sun because you left it in a pile next to the window for a week, and free from animal hair, laundry stink and anything else negative we can think of.

I have two TravelPro suitcases and can't recommend them enough.

I have a big TravelPro Platinum 7 28" for long trips (I chose the older Platinum 7 model because of the warranty). It is a huge suitcase, so it's easy to fill past the 50lb limit, but other than that, it's a great suitcase.

And I have a smaller TravelPro -- a FlightPro 22" Business Upright that I use for shorter trips. It's a mini version of the bigger one. This is the model I recommend for your carry-on needs.

Both are well designed, have telescopic arms, are two-wheeled, and are very rugged. I bought the smaller one first a few years ago after doing much research on the subject and finding that it was recommended by flight crews (pilots/airline stewards).

I had the 22" for a few years and liked it so much I bought the bigger one.

Apparently they had older models that was made in America and was of much higher quality, but I can't say anything bad about the new stuff, never had any problems with it.

I would recommend it as BIFL quality, however you should keep in mind that I don't fly very often, only a couple of times a year.

The link to the Platinum 7 28" is a direct link to Amazon where I bought it from. The link to the FlightPro 22" Business Upright is a link to an image because I purchased it from some other site and I can't find the exact model on Amazon.

Waterproof bags for things while kayaking

Bible verse lanyard for dad to use when coaching

I just put this book in my own WL, me and my father have a hard time communicating and I think this would be great for dad's who are too busy or too much in dad mode to really be talkative about themselves.

What woman doesn't like smelling good?!

Teachers never have enough bags for carrying things!

Can never go wrong with jewelry or this

And of course writing a real heartfelt letter to them both or just telling your parents when you gift them how much you appreciate all they do and that you love them very much. That would put them over the moon I'm sure!

Happy Shopping.

I understand this is a little beyond your target price, but if you can catch a good sale or afford a little splurge, Tumi bags are great. They are designed for travel and business commuting so they have lots of pockets and compartments and thoughtful little details. Not to mention, they are durable and generally a timeless style so they should be a good investment that lasts a long time. Personally, I think Coach has gotten really junky so for the money I think Tumi is better quality.

I have the Voyager Geneva and an older version of this mini messenger/handbag.

u/loddist · 2 pointsr/backpacks

I'd usually chime in as well with how so-and-so product could use improvement...

...but I actually really like this idea. Well done!

Can't really tell what material it is. As long as it doesn't leave angry red welts on my back after use, then this seems like a winner idea.

I like that it can be used on multiple backpacks. It would also be great for hot and humid weather like anywhere in South East Asia. That can be a market for you to think about later. If you're manufacturing in China, then it's even easier to ship or dropship from there to South East Asia.

Another attachment/design idea: if the backpack is turned sideways, can your product be used as a trolley strap? The suitcase handle would slip in between the bakspacer and the bag's back. Then you could pull it along that way. Example picture : https://www.amazon.com/SwissGear-3555333416-Hybrid-Blue/dp/B06XWKK7BL

Check out the last picture for this swissgear backpack. Maybe your product could be used that way?

All the Nannerbear hype...drooling.

I was thinking Timbuk2 and Chrome but I see they've been mentioned.

These might be a bit girly, but I have the Speck one and it holds up. Never owned anything from Fluevog, I just hear their products are excellent and sturdy. Incredibly pricy though.

A few different styles are available at the bottom of the page. The one I really wanted to recommend, the WT-18 is currently out of stock but Jetpens are good about restocking in my experience. I'm also a huge fan of Nomadic products.

Nomadic

And lastly I was just cruising Amazon and saw this one which looks more compact but should be large enough for a tablet.

Hi! Okay, so this is really delayed, but I wanted to give you another perspective on packing light on international carry-ons. I have two different bags I use, depending on the kind of travel I'm doing: the Ciao convertible underseater spinner and the REI Trail 40. The top compartment of the Ciao zips up to form another pouch if you need. I bring the Ciao if I know I'll be buying a lot of souvenirs and expect to check the bag, and I always bring a packable duffel tote in that case. I'll bring it in the Trail 40 next trip. Also, don't buy the Ciao spinner on Amazon - it's $29.99 at Costco, which is where I got it! The REI Trail 40 beat out the Porter 30, Fairpoint 40, and Kelty 36/44 bags, among others, for me. (I might try out the Fairview now that it exists, but I'm pretty happy with the Trail.)

Both of these bags qualify as international carry-ons. Here is what I fit inside the Trail 40 on my last trip:

  • Packing cube: 5 shirts and 3 scarves

  • Packing cube: 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of joggers, 1 pair of hiking pants, 1 dress, leggings, pajama shorts, 1 sports bra

  • Half Cube: Underwear and two swimsuits

  • Bullet Journal and pen case

  • Book

  • Macbook Air 13 and cord

  • Toiletries (Liquid in quart-size bag)

  • Toiletries (Solid cosmetics, medicines, deodorant, hairbrush, hair ties)

  • Ballet Flats

  • Sandals

  • Umbrella

  • Water bottle

  • Snacks

(edited to add things I forgot about)

I wore a sweatshirt and sneakers on the plane. I didn't even end up wearing everything on my last trip, so I'll probably downsize a little bit next. I fit the same amount of stuff in the Ciao underseater as a carry-on and brought a commuter backpack for use on the plane.
u/embertouchtehfire · 2 pointsr/crochet

Things I find useful.

Small snips - they are small siccors typicly used in sewing they keep a sharper edge because the blade is small making it easier to cut yarn.

A hook, and gauge tool I recoment the Susan Bates brand because its crochet friendly, other brands dont always list the crochet hooks ect. Its an important tool because most patterns will tell you what the gauge is and this tool makes it dead simple.

Yarn Needles Not to be confused with sewing needles, these have a larger 'eye' so you can thread yarn threw so she can weave in the tail ends of her projects.

Bonus-- not nessary.

A project bag like this or like the one I have which my SO gave me last year for christmas, matieral looks cheap but it has held up fantastically threw several BIG projects it holds all my hooks and project yarn (I can fit over 20 skeins in it). Project bags are nice so you can have a place to put your yarn and tool, keeps the kids/pets/dust out. Also makes it easier to tote around, I often take my crochet with me to our friends house when we game.

OMG OMG it looks so so so sos os so sosooooosososososo goooooood!!!!

I am super excited because I get to finally meet/spend time with/bone my LD love interest. I say love interest because we're kinda taking things slow, feeling things out, don't want to get pregnant, that kind of stuff. Anyways, he will be here on Monday. I can't believe it's happening. ITS HAPPENING. My house is a disaster.

A suitcase set because he's traveling here and then we're traveling to Kansas City. WOOOOOOT.

I found this minimalist tote bag and I'm thinking of buying it. Is it too feminine?
