Heya, welcome to RAoM!! I hope you enjoy it here :D Also, happy birthday c:
I'd definitely recommend picking up the NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk -- it's a great base that really makes colors pop! It's also really creamy, so it blends out easily.
I also love my Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains. I have Rendezvous (a very orange-y coral) and Lovestick (bright pink), which are perfect for summer. I also have Romantic (pretty true red) and my sister has Crush (a darker plum), which are great for fall. These are really easy to wear because they feel just like lip balms, but they're also very nicely pigmented.
If you want to play around with a lot more colors, I would say go for the Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette -- I use at least one color from this every time I do my make-up! It's not too pricey, but it gives you a lot to experiment with :)
I think it would be a pretty great time to pick up some brushes. Since you're just starting out, I'd probably go with ELF brushes because they're super cheap. Here are a few of my favorites (although I'd recommend looking in store at Target, because the white brushes are only $1 and the black ones are usually only $3; they might be cheaper on the ELF website too):
Eyeshadow Brush -- great for packing on the color
Blending Brush -- because everyone could use a nice blender!
Contouring Brush -- really great for applying color in the crease
12 Piece Set -- I don't actually own all these brushes, but it looks like a great set to start with, especially for only $12!
As for something I'd like...well, I'm currently obsessing over this lipstick in Black Cherry, because it is the PERFECT color for fall, and I don't have any other dark lip colors :3
Oh yea, and Summer Fun !
Happy birthday! The big ol' 2-5!

Woo! Happy birthday! I love shopping for others c:
I wouldn't know what to do with myself if I had this many colors D:
http://www.amazon.com/SHANY-Makeup-Artists-Eyeshadow-Palette/dp/B002RXW5BA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=1HDUAZPRVGF3T&coliid=I37UDJBAHK9MDJ
Sleek (a UK brand, but you can find it on amazon) makes some pretty good palettes in that price range. I'm not particularly impressed with the quality of my NYX palette (their single shadows are more consistent) but I think Sleek does a good job in terms of texture and pigmentation.
Here is a neutral palette by them: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008QYAJXU
A brights palette:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008B60N84/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?qid=1375148980&sr=8-3&pi=SL75
I'd shop around and find a palette you're comfortable with from them.
Also, Coastal Scents is really inexpensive and I think the quality of their Go Palettes are pretty impressive. I would avoid their really big 88 palettes though. I have the feeling that the bigger the palette from them, the worse quality it is.
I have Beijing and the colors are so pretty! http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005UBN3NU/ref=mp_s_a_1_16?qid=1375149120&sr=8-16&pi=SL75
I also have their brush kit--I would recommend that as well.
As for drugstore brands--Wet n Wild's "Comfort Zone" is a GREAT neutral palette and its only $4.99-$5.99 at drugstores. Their other shadows vary in quality, but for the most part, they're on par with NYX for a little cheaper. I also really like Sonia Kashuk's neutral matte palette (my mom has it) and that's about $19.99 at Target.
Oh, and definitely pay Nordstrom Rack a visit if you're looking for higher-end brands at ridiculous discounts (I see UD and Smashbox there on the regular!) Just don't buy a palette with colors you're not comfortable with using because its from a high end brand. When I was starting out I bought UD's old Fun palette because it was on sale and I seriously only ever figured out how to make one shadow work with my skintone. I ended up loving Wet n Wild's comfort zone way more.
Have fun!
Oh my god, I think color correcting is my calling. I posted in MUA a few months ago about my color correcting B/A (link here) and I'm a huge advocate of drugstore makeup.
These are my lifesaving products- keep in mind that although I am a medium/deep (tan) skin tone, the following correctors can work wonders for darker and lighter skin tones.
These products may be cheap, but the amount of correction to the face is astounding.
The first product is something I use everyday. I take about half a pump onto the back of my hand and go around my undereye/eye area, my muzzle discoloration and my hyperpigmented birthmarks on my face. A light, targeted layer of this instantly brightens the skin, and often times it will be enough after foundation to cancel out discoloration.
For days where I have slept less, or woken up after being dehydrated, the orange pot concealer is my best friend. I will blend this orange with a lighter skin tone concealer from the palette to create a custom correcting shade for concealing. The palette also has some peach-y tones but I find they are too light for me. When mixed, the concealer becomes this beautiful smooth and creamy formula that can be layered (lightly!) to avoid creasing, but to create a flawless finish. That concealer palette is also incredibly helpful for contouring/highlighting.
My next color correcting investments will be these products:
Destiney Godley has a great video where she uses this and loves it, so I'm pretty stoked to get it.
If you have any questions please please please let me know! I'm by no means an expert, but I do this every single time I wear makeup, and I've only gotten better at it! :)
This is my little [Kiko] (http://i.imgur.com/MTHNvqY.jpg) aka Kikololo/ Kikonono aka bebe dog aka nub dog aka cat dog. She's a little asshole but we love her anyway :) fun story after my fourteenth birthday I got about $125 from my friends at my party. I left it hidden in a basket on my coffee table when I went to bed, and when I came out in the morning, she had gotten onto the table, gone through the whole basket, found the money, and shredded it. And she's also really not the brightest little lightbulb, but she tries so we don't criticize her :) and she sits only on the back of the furniture so we call her a little cat dog. And she does this thing I call her carpet shnuffling where she puts her face on the ground and her butt up and she runs around like that for a bit<3 okay I'm rambling now but she just leads such an interesting life hahaha and [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Himalaya-Herbals-Kajal-2-6-g/dp/B004FZAKQA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=337XGNTAUQ2R8&coliid=I1G9OF0OX090C2) and [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Wet-Wild-Coloricon-Eggshells-380B/dp/B005C50W3I/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=337XGNTAUQ2R8&coliid=I2HNM6T2Q4MOEN) and/or [this] (http://www.amazon.com/Coastal-Scents-Makeup-Palette-Beijing/dp/B005UBN3NU/ref=pd_bxgy_bt_img_z) would all make my life absolutely complete <3 they're all like a dollar haha although it might total up to slightly over $10, I hope that's okay? I really can't math hahaha
EDIT: Someone informed me that thebalm will be on hautelook this Friday, March 7th :) Although, if you have access to Amazon Prime, it might not be any cheaper than there.
SECOND EDIT: I just realized that this palette would be perfect for someone starting in makeup, too. Emilynoel83 did a tutorial series on a makeup starter kit, and this palette was heavily featured: part one, part two, and part three.
Blueberry Waffles
I wear a lot of bright makeup and I'm always trying new looks and products, so my emergency kit is always on hand for when things go wrong.
and, most importantly, WATER!!! The most important beauty product available ;) A dehydrated face can't be covered with the nicest foundation in the world!
I'm coveting Galaxy Chic Baked Eyeshadow Palette, because I want to look like a magical space creature : If that's too much, this Sleek palette is like a rainbow on drugs and I need it :)
This is one of my favorite questions to ask people! My husband and I are big on paying it forward.
Last christmas, the Doc Mcstuffins doll was one of the hot toys. We were lucky enough to get one for our niece, but it turned out that she already had one. People were selling it on eBay and Craigslist for 3 times its worth because it was in such high demand. We decided to list our doll on cl for the price we paid ($50, I believe). The woman who inquired first seemed so happy to find the doll... When she showed up to pick it up, she handed me the cash. I handed it back to her and said, "No charge. Merry Christmas." She shed a few tears and thanked me profusely. It was awesome.
The items I'd most like to have are: Eco Tools 6 Piece Eye Set, Coastal Scents To Go Palette Beijing, or Sleek I Divine Oh So Special palette
Thanks For hosting... Great question! How about you?
Stalk her makeup collection to see what she already has, so you don't buy doubles.
If you want to go for fancy presentation, I think you should get a few types of product, like brushes, some lip things, and some eye things.
Real techniques brushes are great, and you can get them in stores or on Amazon; here's a couple [sets] (http://www.amazon.com/real-Techniques-Core-Collection-Set/dp/B004TSFBNK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1397668617&sr=8-3&keywords=real+techniques+brushes).
The Sleek palettes are well thought of and cheap, and I don't think she'd object to getting this.
Lipstick is based a lot on skin tone, so if you want to get anything like that you should try to figure out what her undertones are. Before you panic, an easy way to guess is if she wears
gold
yellows/oranges
warm, autumnal colors
She's probably got warm undertones. You can also take a peek at her foundation to see if it has anything on there like "warm" or "neutral" or "cool" - then you can maybe take a look at the lipstick labels and compare. If a red says "true red" it's may have some blue undertones.
Ideally, you'll be able to ask a sales rep somewhere, and maybe you can bring pictures taken in natural lighting for them to get a good idea.
If you don't want to do all that, a nice assortment of tinted lipbalms (people here seem to like the baby lips ones, and they're at basically all drugstores/makeup sections in stores that have makeup sections)
And you can't go wrong with a good primer. Go to Sephora or something and pick up one of the travel size Smashbox photo-finish face primers (the travel size is a better deal, ounce per ounce) and add a few things of chocolate for good measure.
Wow that is super awesome! Congrats! Are you getting promoted? Lol, I think that'd be a great idea ;) What are your plans to celebrate? Thanks for the contest.
At the top of my list I have this and this
BIG MONEY!
You know what's save me a ton of money on cosmetics? Working from home. One of the many advantages of working in my dinining room (other than the short commute from the bedroom) is I'm not wearing make-up every day. I am also not popping into the drugstores at least once a week (dangerous territory, it's so easy to splurge on a new lipstick or mascara, and bada-bing, there goes $20).
But obviously I'm the exception to the rule -- if I were going outdoors every day I'd be made up as usual. Still, you can do great by getting eyeshadow palettes at Amazon, and hit your local discount stores to snoop for bargains. I was in Manhattan last week and went to one of my fave discounters where I snagged three different shades of Revlon lipstick for $1.99 -- for the three of them, not each!
Here are a couple of links of Amazon for great eyeshadow kits at amazing prices -- and the colors are gorgeous!
http://www.amazon.com/Shany-Makeup-Artists-Eyeshadow-Palette/dp/B002RXW5BA/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1343967406&sr=8-4&keywords=eyeshadow+palette
http://www.amazon.com/Coastal-Scents-88-Original-Palette/dp/B002QANC2A/ref=sr_1_10?ie=UTF8&qid=1343967406&sr=8-10&keywords=eyeshadow+palette
I have the 2nd one listed and the colors are terrific, great pigmentation, and you can't beat the price!
I just picked up this palette on the recommendation of some people here. It has loads of fun colors. I haven't properly played with all of the colors, but the ones I did tinker with were wonderfully bright for the cost. I'm pretty happy with it so far. I had loads of neutrals, and this is my first collection of BRIGHT shadow. I think its a great set to grab if you want to test out the waters.
I honestly love ELF gel liner specifically in Coffee. The other colors are mediocre but coffee STAYS PUT ALL DAY even without primer. Like I can shower and that shit will still be perfect and not run in the least bit.
If you're doing all kinds of funky stage makeup really look in to those Sleek palettes. It's cheaper to buy them from the sleek website than on amazon and they have great sales. They're fairly pigmented and come in a variety of awesome sets. It's a less expensive way to build your collection if you don't have the cash to be dumping on Mid-End stuff.
Oo, there are also things like Coastal Scent concealer palette and blush palettes which are great if you're going to need lots of color for stage stuff!
And the Ben Nye powder I linked is actually a stage makeup finishing powder; it's made specifically to keep your makeup in place for performances but it's great for daily use as well.
It's not cheap, but I'm in love with my UD Electric Palette. I find uses for it fairly often. Adding a touch of color to a smokey eye or that kind of thing is pretty fun. It's understandable that you wouldn't want to spend that much though. I had an 88 color palette (some chinese brand) that I got years ago that worked pretty well! It's pretty cheap and the colors are small, but it always seemed pretty pigmented. http://www.amazon.com/Coastal-Scents-88-Original-Palette/dp/B002QANC2A
If you're just starting out the biggest advice I can give you is go with ELF products. They're cheap, good products that won't break the bank if you decide all this make up stuff isn't for you.
When doing my face (i'll leave lips and eyeshadow out) here are the steps I take:
***
And you're done!
***
I would suggest looking at ELF's actualy website, as some of the prices on Amazon were really high, plus they always have great coupons!
I usually take a pocket knife and chop it straight out of the pan into either a mortar and pestle (ideal) or a jar lid that I've cut a bit of parchment paper so it fits in the lid... Basically, I would not even bother trying to remove the pans themselves, and just scrape up the pigment.
For what to do next:
Cut the parchment paper to fit in the jar lid (making sure the paper has a lip all the way around so no powder actually spills out). Then, crush and chop up the powder until it is very fine, inside the lid; the powder won't stick to the paper, and you probably won't cut it up with your chopping either, as crushing up a soft powder is pretty easy work.
Now, pour that powder into a square of parchment that is about 4"x4"... Before you pour it, make sure the square has been folded in half and creased, then unfold it, to allow for easier pouring.
So you have your eyeshadow on the paper. Now, I should have mentioned you're better off getting these pans because they are magnetic (get a magnetic palette!) And are reusable. Good stuff.
Pour the crushed shadow into a pan. Take a dropper bottle with rubbing alcohol 91% in it, and drip enough to almost completely fill up the pan; mix it into a paste and let it sit for a few minutes.
Get a clean cotton cloth (about 5"x5") and a quarter for the next part. Once the mush has evaporated a bit, place the cloth over the pan, and push the quarter over the pan to squeeze out the alcohol a bit and press the makeup. I usually press it once, pick up the cloth and get a clean corner, press it again, pick up cloth and get clean corner, press it three times total.
Let your pans dry several hours just to be sure it's good to go.
Voilà! I pressed those a few days ago and they work like a dream!
I got a guy too, It'll be interesting. Lol
I saw that color and it's super pretty!
My favorite color is almost any variation of pink! Lol
I've been wanting [this] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CD83H0M/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp_1_3?colid=UVXNMW8ZDCC6&coliid=I2SSNB76OSIQ3C) for awhile and [this] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00FGRD784/ref=aw_wl_ov_dp_1_2?colid=UVXNMW8ZDCC6&coliid=I3QE7H7CPMN82K) to press and organise my few Indies better! :)
Thanks for hosting!!! :)
I also found Pixi to be just so-so on really intense dark circles. I really like this palette from Graftobian, a professional brand. Covers much better than Pixi.
Love the palette since it has a great range of color, so you can mix your perfect color, and play with what will work for you. Orange/yellow/salmon/really, really light pink, plus a green if you have intense redness. I'm really fair, and use the pink/salmon one (second lightest shade) for my circles, with the really light one as a highlight.
A similar product is this by MUFE.
I prefer the Graftobian because the formula is creamier, plus the correctors are designed for Pros, so they can deal with nearly any color combination. However, use very, very sparingly. I like to use an eyeshadow blending brush for application.
I absolutely LOVE the Coastal Scents palette. It's like a Z palette but more organized and cleaner. I actually bought this palette because it also came with some CS singles in colors I liked - I wanted to try out the CS formula and it wasn't much more expensive than an empty one (plus Prime shipping).
I assumed I would get rid of 90% of the shadows but ended up LOVING probably 75% of them. In fact I ended up placing a Coastal Scents order for more of their singles, I liked the formula so much. Now I use that palette to rotate my most used singles from UD, MAC, and Makeup Geek and it is PERFECT. Huge sturdy mirror too.
I have the same issue - I have the blue darkness from having too thin/light skin on top of veins so the darkness shows through. I'm 32 but also have had this my whole life and have spent thousands of dollars on just about everything - pills, creams, treatments, dermatolgists, estheticians, etc since i was 18. After trying everything, the only good fix I have found is filler injected by a Dr skilled in the canula method (to avoid brusing). This helps the appearance greatly for 1 to 1.5 years by putting a pad of filler between the veins and skin. For a temp fix, graftobian corrector concealer is great (soft orange and pink colors), but be aware that caused some temporary milia for me so now I only use it when my filler is running out or special occasions. The colors look weird but they counteract the blue/darkness and blend well. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00462OE3M?keywords=graftobian%20corrector&qid=1450327584&ref_=sr_1_2&sr=8-2 Good luck! I dont usually comment here but I wanted to save someone else the trouble of trying everything I did that didnt work. If you dont have the vein issue but have more of a browness on top of the skin, I saw a laser procedure on the Doctors that seemed to work for that type.
Some of these might run you a couple dollars over 10, but they're all pretty good!
That's all I can think of off the top of my head!
This is my favorite palette ever: https://www.amazon.com/l-f-Eyeshadow-Piece-Palette-Natural/dp/B00AB4ZTEW?th=1
I think the texture is good and pigment is rich, not too much glitter but a little shimmer, they don't leave too much fall on my cheeks with application, and I LOVE the two beige colors that are in the first two columns on the left, second row up from the bottom. I wish they just made those two colors in huge singles, because I love them as a base for a lot of things but also by themselves. At around $7 usually, I just end up buying a new palette when those run out b/c I never use up the other colors.
I had a long stretch of time to myself last night and plenty of time to do makeup without rushing, so I thought I would pull out the Shiros that I got last week for u/lecatprincess's All Aglow contest.
I'm new to glitter (thought before that my wrinkly ol' eyelids couldn't tolerate glitter or shimmer in any way), and haven't used loose pigments in a while, so I knew this could be a mess. And in fact, even pat-pat-patting the color on, I had to wipe off my first eyes because using I'll Move That For You over Wildflowers resulted in my looking like I had been punched in the eye by someone very glittery and fabulous.
Please ignore my messy eyelashes - I decided to go all-out and put on Ardell individual lashes and they don't play nicely with be-mascaraed eyes (at least not ones wearing They're Real) so my lashes look messier than usual (I need a good comb, mine does not do the trick; recommendations welcome!).
Here's mah face without the spotlighting: eyes open and eyes closed.
Face
Smashbox Photo Finish Primer
CoverGirl Clean Whips Foundation in 310
Benefit Fakeup
This concealer with the darkest shade for contour and the lightest not-white shade for highlight (this was my first time trying contour with creams instead of powders)
TheBalm Instain Blush in Argyle
Cindy Loumanizer
NYX Taupe for contour because I think I was too tentative with the cream contour
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
Eyes:
NYX HD lid primer
Shiro Wildflower on lid (I think despite the pic I got pretty even coverage, I think the sparse area in the pic is a lighting issue)
Shiro Elite Four in crease and outer lid
Shiro Twighlight Realm in outer corner of lid
TheBalm Mary Loumanizer on brow bone
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner on top lid (/u/Quixle, I LOVE THIS!)
CoverGirl eyeliner of indeterminate name and shade on lower lashline (I will look it up if you'd like, it's a pencil with a smudge sponge on the other end and I got it free with a CG coupon my daughter gave me)
They're Real on top lashes
Lash Discovery on bottom lashes
Lips:
NYX Tea Rose
Stila Color Me Pretty Convertible Color Palette in Kitten just in center of lips for a little sheen
There are some good tips already here but part of getting the look right is having the right products so here are some great ones I have used and some I'd like to use:
Ben Nye bruise color wheel for those nasty reds, purples and especially the yellows and greens you wont find in normal make up.
Ben Nye stage blood in zesty mint for liquid or oozing blood. Edible is a must if you put it in your mouth but keep in mind this does not dry! If you put it on your face or knuckles and then accidentally swipe something it will get everywhere.
Scaring liquid to create small cuts, perfect for a split lip or eyebrow this product shrinks and creates a depression in your skin so it actually looks like a chunk of flesh is gone.
Scar wax is great if you want to build up a broken nose or puffy black eye but it is very sticky and needs to be powdered with either a setting powder or a foundation.
Also here is a pretty good video on how to use these products. Its only missing the scar liquid which you could just lay under the split lip and eyebrow.
Good luck and try not to get blood on Stan Lee!
Okay so I saw you said $25 so here's my input.
I was just glammed Meet Matte and I'm really enjoying it. This is the older one which is why it's cheaper. The new one is $42.
Nude'Tude is supposed to be a great UD Naked dupe.
Naked Basics is amazing. It is perfect for wear every single day. I love it.
These Sephora palettes are pretty good. Sephora isn't the greatest brand but it's better than the cheaper stuff and these palettes are a nice deal for the amount you get.
I also really like Too Faced and this is an affordable palette of theres.
I don't know if this counts but I did some Pokemon makeup for fun one day. My two favorite pokemon! Pikachu and Oddish! :)
Pika Pika
If I win of course I needs some moar makeups. :)
Oh woah! What the heck? lol I got mine from this retailer on Amazon. Hope it works out for you! :)
Thanks for your kind words, I love putting together these pictorials, it was a pleasure. Thanks for checking out the blog! <3
It's my party! For my birthday, which is in a few months, I would love to receive this contour palette because I need to make myself look like I have a bone structure haha, and I would also love to receive this brush set because I am in desperate need of brushes! Thanks for the contest and happy birthday!
Sorry you're going through this. Keep your head up, girly. I have to admit...looking at pretties is a not too shabby distraction.
Just realized I love palettes. I have a problem.
Happy early birthday! :D
I'm so looking forward to fall because all the orange! It is my most favorite fall color. And this year, I have Fire from Stila's In the Know palette, plus all those lovely neutrals to pair it with. I can't wait!
I'd love to add Coastal Scent's Fall Festival palette to my collection this fall, and given the theme of this contest, I'm going to pick that as my prize if I were to win. Throw in a NYX lip color or blush if the prize needs to be closer in price to $25, but I'd be just as ecstatic with only the palette. It's so pretty! :)
I hardly ever see /u/iwontremeberthis entering contests, and she's always so friendly and helpful, especially when it comes to indies, so she's the one I'm tagging in!
Mega grats! Life is so much better when work is going well. That's really amazing and I hope your employer sees how awesome you are! :)
Now down to serious business: C'mon big money, big money, no whammiiieeesss STOP!
If I had $30, I'd definitely go for NYX Cosmetics The Smokey Eyeshadow Palette, the Coastal Scents Fall Festival Palette and NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Transylvania.
Blueberry Waffles
Things I always carry (or wish I carried):
Thanks for the fun contest! I can't wait to see what everyone else has to say.
This palette is exactly $20, but I also have my eye on this facial oil for my dry desert-like skin in case the price doesn't stay $20, or if that's too much!.
Happy birthday!! I turned 26 last month!
If it were my birthday again, I'd love to get the Sleek Vintage Romance palette! I got my first Sleek item earlier this year, and I love it!!
It's my party!
Ugh I'm so SICK of Summer :( Bring on the Fall!!!
I will probably be rocking this dark burgundy lip - NYX butter lipstick in Licorice - However, I have a few lipsticks coming in the mail right now so I may change my mind ;) But I feel like this dark color is very flattering on me and Fall friendly!
Swatchy Swatch!: http://imgur.com/a/IObXA
I can't decide between these two palettes, so feel free to surprise me if I win :3

Happy early birthday!! :D Thanks for the Giveaway/contest :)
Happy birthday! Woot woot! I would like another Sleek palette if it's my birthday! It's my party! No, actually it's woolybooly's party :)
Here's a couple good options for palettes: http://www.amazon.com/theBalm-Balm-Jovi-Rockstar-Palette/dp/B0096OBH4Y/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1416330457&sr=8-3&keywords=makeup+rockstar

and brushes- the ELF aren't so bad, some are better than others, but I really like ecotools. Real Techniques are also good but will cost you a little more.

I have the rockstar palette and love it.
/u/kyriya you're the icing on the cake for sure ! The best part !!
So heres a few add on items that are cheap and easy- just like me ! hah-
Fridge Brace for the RV fridge
Colorful eyeshadow palette
The best mascara ever!!
I've convinced myself I NEED the Sleek Vintage Romance palette. So. Pretty. I've been wishing for it forever! Hope you feel better and thank you for hosting :)
Please Note: I have no idea what I am talking about here, or really most places.
Halp!? My wife left all of her makeup stuff when she moved to the US, she picked up some cheap stuff because we were pretty strapped for cash and shes been using that ever since but I would like to get her some nicer stuff.
she has the following stuff.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AB4ZTEW/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00UXYX8KM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01AS2IRJA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Can anyone help make some kind of recommendations? I tried your side bar guides but Those got me nowhere, I suspect they require a tad more general knowledge about this kind of stuff than I have, I dont really know what foundation blush etc even are so......... Please Halp?
>Nail polishes (which ones to keep, purge, guidelines)
Open every one. Are they getting thick and cakey? Does it apply streaky and uneven? Does it chip really easily after only a day? If the answer is yes to any of these questions, throw it out, they're not worth keeping around. You don't need 5 pinks, 3 reds, and 4 blacks. Keep just one of a color. If you have extras that are still in great condition swap them! http://www.reddit.com/r/redditlaqueristaswap
>Lipsticks/ lip glosses
You shouldn't keep lipsticks/glosses for very long after opening, as they are moist and breed bacteria/go rancid. Lipstick can last about 2 years, lipgloss about 1. Anything older than that, toss it.
>Eye shadows
If they are powder, then they can last several years! I remove the pots from their bulky containers and put them into a Z palette (best makeup invention ever): http://www.amazon.com/Z-Palette-zpalblkorig-Large-Black/dp/B0033AYPXC
I also put my blush and bronzer in it, and it drastically reduced my makeup clutter. Also, you can have a small one for throwing into your purse with the exact colors you need.
>too many socks, t shirts, belts, bras, underwear
All you can do is just bite the bullet and get rid of the ones you don't actually need. Throw everything but the bare minimum into a box, and shove that box into a far away closet. If you REALLY need it, you can go get it. Anything left in the box after x amount of time (3 months is a typical time frame) toss/recycle/donate.
Good luck! :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TOO YOOUUUU!
I live in Florida, land of the eternal summer. Fall consists of about one week where you don't sweat the second you walk out the door. Since seasons don't exist here, I don't change my color palette as much as I would in another area that gets definitive seasons.
With that said, I do tend to go more with mattes than I do during the summer. I think this smoky light pink is something I would gravitate towards during the fall. I also go for matte lipsticks more often in the fall as well. This NARS matte lip pencil in Bahama is one that I like to use in the fall. It is a really pretty shade.
I have been eyeing this palette for ages: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B005UBN3NU/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=21KHPTB35LXYD&coliid=I34N4AORN4VPC3
I think it would be a good fall palette as well! But any surprise would be totally awesome.
I am going to tag /u/earworms in this, she hosts a lot of contests but I don't often see her enter, I think she should!
Thanks so much for hosting!!
I am torn between a cheap ($1.93) add-on and a more expensive, but AWESOME pallet add-on.
I got yelled at for being in the way of kids wanting to play hopscotch the other day... LoL. bonus, daughter in picture! LoL - we were making faces at the camera, she'd copy anything I did. lol
Congratulations on bringing in the big money! That is one amazing feat!
I've been really bad at impulse buying lately so I'm going to try and be practical with my choices...
Replacement Eyelash Curler Pads I can't ever find these in stores...I just end up buying a new eyelash curler.
Brush Guards to keep my new brushes in tip-top shape.
Mixing Palette and Spatula to fix my dried-out Stila smudge pots.
6-Pack of NYX Lip Liners because I do not own any lip liners yet.
I tried picking things with free shipping. For the lip liners, there are a couple of other sellers that are offering free shipping.
Thanks for hosting!
This is Ollie, both as a puppy and now. He hasn't changed much, just a bit bigger. My roommate and I adopted him from the local humane society. He's the best cuddler ever! I couldn't imagine my life without him in it. He just has so much personality and is super smart.
THIS would be amazing!
I have both Zpalette and Makeup Forever and they both work great. I prefer the Zpalette since it's a little more sturdy but the Makeup Forever is good for eye shadows! Hope it helps!
Maybe these?
These are great if you can overlook that time the owner spewed a bunch of classist venom on customers for not liking her waffle iron or whatever it was. Idk bc she's irrelevant. But srsly great magnets!
These seem well loved and always intriguing to find products with such outdated packaging...bc they know the product is so good they knew they didn't have to bother with after 1967
Seems like we both came back around the same time!
I'm looking forward to just hopefully getting my life together in 2015. I wanna get back on track with all the things I've been meaning to for the past I don't know how many years.
I'd love this palette if I win!
Mid-range: theBalm's Meet Matt(e) eye shadow palette
Low-end: Smith's Rosebud Salve
p.s.
Hi!
I learned with this one on amazon. Super cheap and worked great! I liked the price because I was practicing all the time so I didn't feel bad or like it was a waste when I would redo it a million times.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D5TB1LK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Happy you're alive, Tara!
If I win, I would like this from my Makeup list.
I am really really glad you daughter is ok. Traffic accidents can be scary.

Oh neither can I some of those palettes are so expensive. My sex bomb palette was about 7 dollars on amazon. Here's a link! :)
The rest of the colours shown here are from my sleek mattes V1 which is about 11 dollars with shipping on amazon as well! [linky] (http://www.amazon.com/Sleek-i-Divine-Mattes-Palette-Mineral/dp/B008B60N84/ref=sr_1_1?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1411025279&sr=1-1&keywords=sleek+mattes+v1) I love sleek and NYX both are great brands with really pigmented, high quality product for low prices! You should check them out :)
Happy birthday! Whoo, August babies. :)
I'm going to tag /u/map_backwards, since I haven't talked to her lately!
I'm looking forward to burgundy lips ( TooFaced Divine Wine and NYX Licorice, which was already linked) and more purple blush ( Darling Girl Berry Merry )
In the spirit of fall, I've had my eye on this palette
Since I was making several looks one after the other I didn't do much for eyeliner on most of these. A lot of these are simple looks with only 2-3 colors to show some fun bright pairings of colors I think look good together. All the shadows came from:
my inglot summer palette
my disney trios (mostly pressed nyx pearl pigments)
my large Shany eyeshadow palette
let me know if you have any questions or CC :)
Oh wow, they're huge!
Just found this one: http://www.amazon.com/Coastal-Scents-Festival-Palette-8-5-Ounce/dp/B004A8LFJI/ref=sr_1_12?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1418358622&sr=1-12&keywords=coastal+scents+palette
My mama would love that, I might get it for her.
Maybe try out the Sleek Vintage Romance palette. It's got a shade like the one you're looking for (there's a picture of a swatch in the customer photos). I have two Sleek palettes and they're not expensive ($10-$15 on average) and the quality is great!

[close to 20] (http://www.amazon.com/SHANY-Makeup-Artists-Eyeshadow-Palette/dp/B002RXW5BA/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3F0OLRWNN54YV&coliid=IPK3IL3IWUP8N) [5] (http://www.amazon.com/Mia-Secret-Lacquer-Changing-Polish/dp/B005JUTA0M/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=XQV9S2OBJ47W&coliid=IA7N2KW3I6OT0) One 20 gift :). One of my favorite movie's is Troy because I love the whole war/romance theme.
Ooh, thank you! I'm gonna invest in a better wheel soon (I'm thinking the Ben Nye bruise wheel), I think, so I can get a more realistic color variety. These bruises look pretty warm on me, so I figured it'd help to have a bigger color variety too.
I'll practice the grab a little more for a more realistic look! I used my fingers to do it but I didn't think about the spacing at all.
Thank you! :D
Coastal scents original 88; love the oranges, pinks, and greens! Great fora tequila sunrise look or a ruby-throated hummingbird. Amazon Link
The colors online don't look exactly right, but I was very pleased with the intensity and durability.
If you're looking for something just as bright, but cheaper, I have this palette and it's really really pigmented for a drugstore brand! I can swatch it later for you if you want. I think you would have to buy off Amazon/similar places because the company can't ship it to the US. Some of the pigments aren't eye-safe according to the FDA, although they are considered safe in Europe--it's the same this with this palette, which is why they don't have "eyeshadow" written anywhere on the box, lol.
I have this one which is the rainbow palette by Shany and I love it! I've wanted to purchase more but haven't got around to it. I can do some swatches if you would like me too :)
Thanks! I've been using this super cheap palette from amazon, I'm surprised with how great it is https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B001C6H6F8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
This is an awesome idea! I would love to try this eyeshadow.
Also, my wedding derp face!
Edit: hopscotch
I'll definitely let you know! Actually, I was recently glammed this fantastic palette and it's GREAT to help with redness and when I'm having bumpy skin days, but I can't seem to get it to work as well with the bags under my eyes.
We all know interspecies romance is weird
This is perfect because I'm re-vamping my wishlist!
This isn't popular
not that weird
By far the weirdest I actually have an idea for this one soooo yeah.
I use a Graftobian Palette of Color Corrector concealers I got from Amazon which is awesome at the price point. They're creamy, pigmented, blend easily, and cover very well. There are also multiple colors in the palette for different purposes that is similar to the MUFE one but cheaper!
http://www.amazon.com/Graftobian-HD-Palette-Color-Corrector/dp/B00462OE3M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419147074&sr=8-1&keywords=graftobian+color+corrector
I got mine for $20 though and the price fluctuates.
Edit: I would also like to add that they sell individual colors, including one in green for redness!
http://www.amazon.com/HD-Creme-Corrector-Shade-Redness/dp/B004LQ3K6U/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1419147325&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=graftobian+color+corrector+green
These are used for a magnetic makeup palette. They have adhesive on the back and are smaller than what your looking for, but you can search in that direction.

Try also searching for magnetic discs for crafts... Good luck!

Here's a better link. OP's link came out pretty funny for me.
Sleek has a simple one
This one is a generic one that several brands sell
Bh cosmetics has this one
I don't have any of these but I've been considering them- I don't know much about their quality, but I would guess Sleek has a good one. Hope someone else can give you more feedback!
1.)I enjoy watching things on netflix. My current obsession is Bobs Burgers or Death Note. I recommend something more kid friendly. A cartoon maybe.
2.)My favorite subreddit is /r/nosleep because there are so many stories to read and I love the thrill of a scary story.
3.)I want my mommy.
This is my item, for when I need to hide my eye bags from staying up all night.
Oh Caaaanaaada~
This is adorable! Owl Necklace.
For your wine. A little birdcage for the corks.
For those fancy date nights. Mustaches for wine.
Sometimes we have to be wild! Eyeshadow.
For your phone. Pretty bow case.
You should get this and this
First one because I always loved when my science teachers had beaker coffee cups and this is like the same thing for a photographer and the second because makeup! Palettes are an addiction of mine. :]

I made a post a couple of days ago talking about this $10 Frola Cosmetics powder Contour palette (which has since become a $6.50 add on item... Amazon, you so silly), and promised a more high quality post of how I use it, so here we are! I tried my best to give breakdowns of exactly how I use each color in the description of the imgur album, but if I've left anything unclear or you have any specific questions feel free to ask! I also did My contouring and highlighting slightly more heavily than usual so hopefully you can see what I'm talking about more easily.
Here's a product list of everything I used:
Ooh, that looks nice! Definitely not my eye shape, though. =/ Mine's pretty much like this. Part of the problem is I'm not sure what I want to do with my eyes - I guess I just want to emphasize them, since I like the color, but I'm not sure how one would go about doing that, and I'd imagine there are lots of different ways!
I actually have a ton of other eyeshadow sets/palettes, but they mostly go unused because I have no idea what to do with them, and I don't want to waste them on my terrible experiments! (Which I know is counterproductive, sigh.) The one I use for playing around is the Shany Bold and Bright palette. I also have a couple of these from ELF in purple and grey/black, but they don't have the greatest pigmentation, and unfortunately I don't think the colors look too great on me. :( About a year ago I ordered Shiro's Hobbit collection, which is so gorgeous, but I've barely used it because I don't want to waste it - and also because I don't think I can handle loose minerals yet, lol. Finally, I just ordered a few palettes from ELF (Studio Prism Eyeshadow in Naked and Sunset, and Studio Baked Eyeshadow in California and Texas), as well as Sleek Makeup's i-Divine Eye Shadow Palette in Vintage Romance, and I'm planning on ordering Coastal Scents' Revealed Palette... so I really need to get my shit together before these all arrive.
So basically I think I gravitate towards browns/bronzes, which do go well with my eyes, but I would love to get some golds, pinks, and blues (preferably of the turquoise variety) in there. I'll check out some of the color combos on the Makeup Geek website!
I bought this contour palette after it was suggested by another user on here. I love it! It's soo cheap and HUGE! It's really only for lighter skinned gals, though.
It's my party!
What I want most is actually a Sleek palette too! Vintage Romance or Garden of Eden
Happy birthday!
Is it this it?
I have been lusting after the NARS Radiant Creamy concealer and the Copacabana multiple stick to use as a highlighter. However, spending $70+ on these two is kinda outta my range right now, especially when there are such inexpensive palettes on the market such as this one. I've heard such great things about the NARS concealer though so I might save for a couple weeks just for that..
Should I buy the coastal scents 120 palette or the sleek V1 pallete? (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008B60N84/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2VJ5ISFGB5TF7)
Also what do you guys think of other coastal scents palettes like warm?
And what about their brushes?
Edit: Also, has anyone tried the new Color Tattoo Leather 24 hr? What do you think ?
And what are your favorite makeupgeek eyeshadows?
Amazon!!
I've ordered three palettes through Lucky Girl (was RM Cosmetics until a few months ago) and I will not hesitate to order again.
Messy link here: http://www.amazon.com/Sleek-i-Divine-Mattes-Palette-Mineral/dp/B008B60N84/ref=sr_1_1?m=A2VJ5ISFGB5TF7&s=merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1404945495&sr=1-1
-if someone wants to tell me the neat way to link, I'm all ears :-)
Why isn't undereye concealer working for me?? EVERY SINGLE ONE CREASES IN A MATTER OF HOURS. I've tried the following kinds:
I apply in a single thin layer because I don't have intense dark circles, and then I set with powder.
The Coastal Scents Fall Palette is a nice cheap warm palette :) As for building your own I second both Inglot and pressing indies.
The large Z Palette is only $18 on [Amazon]
(https://www.amazon.com/Z-Palette-zpalblkorig-Large-Black/dp/B0033AYPXC/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1481950979&sr=8-1&keywords=z%2Bpalette%2Blarge&th=1), and like another poster said, if you have Amazon Prime it's free shipping. The $18 is actually cheaper than it is on Ulta or Sephora for a large Z Palette, which is originally $20.
My favorite purple eye shadows lately has been the coastal scents go palette in beijing.
http://www.amazon.com/Coastal-Scents-Makeup-Palette-Beijing/dp/B005UBN3NU
So many pretty purples <3
I have that plate & spatula and it is very useful for sure, I bought it off Amazon. Check it out.
Happy birthday!!! I need to stop doing my makeup when I'm not going anywhere, I'm running out. :)
I guess this is a stretch, but I'll make it work:
I am like this palette, indecisive, perfectionistic, and crazy. :)
I just bought one on amazon forget making one,
I bought the [large one] (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0033AYPXC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_7ZhuzbAC35G79)
holds 27 pans, was 18$
Singles range around 6$
Depending on brand
Example:
MUG singles 6$ sets are cheaper ,
Nyx singles 3-4$,
Mac singles 6$
If your going to spend at least 6×27=162$ on eyeshadows you should at least buy a z palette. It will keep your investment safe and secure. Mine dont move at all and ive taken them travelling with me, its worth it
[I used this tool] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009DUJCVQ/ref=ya_aw_oh_bia_dp?ie=UTF8&psc=1) which has been super helpful with past depots as well as repressing.
Thanks for hosting :)
SHANY Eyeshadow Palette, Boutique, 40 Color by SHANY Cosmetics http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B001C6H6F8/ref=cm_sw_r_udp_awd_Qirntb050HP4B
Here's some looks like that's 25 for $9. But you could always just buy one of the cheap palettes, pop out the pans and throw away the plastic casing. Haha.
Did you know Amazon will donate a portion of every purchase if you shop by going to smile.amazon.com instead? Over $50,000,000 has been raised for charity - all you need to do is change the URL!

My mom does not wear a lot of makeup, but I was planning on getting her this palette for her birthday, although her skin is not exactly olive but tan. Hope this helps!
Yeah I saw Ben Nye on r/makeupaddiction, but when I looked at Amazon I saw some but I wasn't sure which to get. I'll also look into Bobbi Brown as well. Thanks!!
Edit is this it? I think I want to try a palette instead so that there's more versatility in that. Coastal Scents supposedly is decent as well but I only have their shadows :( I've also considered Kryolan but that's double in price :(

I got my bruise wheel and two of the fake blood types from Amazon. I'm still waiting on molding wax to show up. It'll give the gashes more depth, instead of them just being blood.
Edited to add that there are links in there to the things I bought. You can't really tell in the Halloween subreddit style.
It's on amazon and seems to have good reviews! http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005I64ZDY/ref=redir_mdp_mobile
I'm being a sexy skeleton!
It involves a skeleton dress, skeleton tights, and facepaint for the gods.
I was inspired by a "Anna Rexia" costume, which is of course in extremely poor taste. I just liked the skeleton dress, so I'm rebranding it!

Lucky duck! Very kind of your to pass it on. <3
This because those purples! swoon
Edit: because I changed my mind...haha
It's a contour palette! :)
I used Shany Pallet from amazon and I used E210
and thank you so much :)
Will it be less than $27 on Hautelook? It's only $35 on Amazon right now (with free shipping) and shipping is $8 on Hautlook :/
Also... what's the difference between the one you swatched, and this one? http://www.amazon.com/theBalm-Meet-Matte-Eyeshadow-Palette/dp/B005I64ZDY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367510377&sr=8-1&keywords=meet+matt
Not sure if this is prime eligible, but I always worry about makeup getting damaged in the mail. I'd feel a lot more confident with the free 2-day shipping.
do you mean this one listed on amazon? spotted it earlier when looking at the discounted nude palette. i really want the nude one, but i cannot justify buying anymore makeup right now. but i really, really want it...

Sleek i-Divine Ultra Mattes
I actually like the colors of this palette better than UD Electric, and its only 12 dollars.
I like the Balm Jovi palette for travel.
I just got [this] (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001C6H6F8/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Shany Palette. I am very happy with it. I haven't tried every color yet but those that I have used are very pigmented. I used them over UD Primer Potion and they lasted all day.
Graftobian all the way. They make an ultralight palette that has five shades in it, with samples of cool, neutral, and warm toned foundation. I swatched it a while ago with MAC for comparison. My skin is just outside the ultralight palette, I wear Bombshell. The dark swatches are NC 15,NW13, NW15, and NC20 and the light swatches are graftobian. (I dont remember the order anymore, but you can see how light graftobian foundations are in comparison to MAC.)

Graftobian HD Palette 5 Color Ultralites https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004V3GTDE/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_P7lfvb1AJWHDY
I bought this from Amazon and I love it. It blends, blends, blends like crazy. Its the Graftobian HD Corrector Palette.
For some reason there is no picture of the palette I bought, but mine has colors in it (green, orange, yellow, etc).
It's a Z-Palette! I got mine from Amazon, here. They also come in small and medium sizes.
Oops I thought I linked to the Amazon page! Here it is: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00D5TB1LK/
Wayne Goss has a really straightforward video about depotting: https://youtu.be/KcX3BNfO2_A
I tried it, after a little practice and with patience it's not hard at all. I bought a little spatula thing on Amazon for $7 and it is a teeny little godsend for depotting.
Also! Word of warning: Perma-blood is for props/clothes only. I would highly recommend Ben Nye's makeup wheels for blood and bruises and stuff on skin. It's also high quality and very realistic without being itchy :) This is the one I have.
Now that you realize quality & pigmentation matter, and aren't wild about the idea of spending mega bucks... you should check out my little secret. Coastal Scents

I think it was this one! The "ultralites" version.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004V3GTDE?vs=1
It might be this one on amazon
I'm scared of jumping into something bold, so I thought my first palette should be a neutral one. This one had the right price and the reviews look decent!
I'm in the U.S. so not sure if these amazon sites work for you. XL Z Palette holds 35 pans Large Z palette I was wrong it will hold about 21
I actually used to use just high end foundation and contour, and ive been slowly phasing into high end everything. Currently, eye shadow is the only thing where im still currently using cheap shit because I have so much of it that I dont want it to go to waste. I currently use 4 eyeshadow pallets. The first one is some cheap maybelline shit that I like because it has colors close to skin tone so quality doesnt matter too much, and then pallets 2, 3, and 4, are what I use when im feeling sparkly.

The only things I use from too faced are their better than sex mascara, and I use their contour concealers. I use one several shades lighter than skin tone to highlight, and one several shades darker to contour. Will run you $60 total for the combo of the two. You put a lot of effort into your eyes and I put a lot of effort into my lips. :P
For pressing, I use these ones: http://www.amazon.com/Myo-Palette-Eyeshadow-Responsive-Palettes/dp/B00FGRD784/ref=pd_bia_nav_t_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=06DN83T2G9KB39953RNG
They are magnetic, you can use a quarter to press, and they don't rust! And you get 25 of them, so it's not as big of a deal if you lose one or two to a bad press!
Are you me??? omg I've been on the hunt for matte cool-toned shadows for what seems like FOREVER now!!! This is the closest I've found, but even still, like....... would it kill to have a palette without half of the shades in it being browns I already own a hundred of???
