Ok, I totally understand- I've just heard the argument against using computers hundreds of times, coming from people who think that an all-analog workflow is better. But even the big record companies use digital workstations lol

Tascam used to have some pretty great stuff on the cheap; it looks like their newer stuff is a lot more expensive. This seems to be the lowest entry computer/audio interface replacement tascam makes. It's $500.00, but you'll be able to do everything you need on it without touching a computer.

This might be a stupid question but I'm new to this and honestly confused. I would like to be able to record at least four condenser microphones at once, and would prefer to be able to send those to my computer on separate tracks. I think all I need is a mixer with phantom power, but I'm really not sure. I can spend up to $500. I'm considering getting something like this. If I need more equipment please let me know.

Also gonna need an amp.

You could get the Marantz PM6005 refurb for ~£360, and then a pair of KEF Q350’s for £495.

Or, for ease of use, the KEF X300A’s for £800. They are self powered and take 3.5mm or USB.

Just to update, I found a suitable amp. The Marantz PM6005 does absolutely everything I need.
