I got some pajamas from Kindred Bravely. The fabric is super soft. At 35 weeks the top is too tight in a medium, but the bottoms have a nice wide waistband that is still comfortable. I’m planning on bringing them to wear postpartum in the hospital for visitors. The top looks good for discreet breastfeeding. I like pretty much everything I’ve bought from Kindred Bravely.

The hospital will have these really sexy mesh underwear. Take them. Take them all. Ask for more while you are there and take those too. They will also have the monster pads for your postpartum bleeding. Same for those as well.

I second the comfy pillows and anything else you need for sleep. The hospital beds are the worst.

I ended up getting my own hospital gown (I had been planning a vaginal birth) and I really loved that for surgery and the night/day after. The snaps up the back gave me more coverage/comfort than the ones they have there. Plus they came in cute prints. I also really liked these nursing nightgowns. They were perfect once I changed out of the gown and I still love them at home.

Speaking of showers, they will typically provide little sample versions of shampoos and soaps but I really liked that I brought my own just because it made me feel a little more human. Maybe bring a couple towels if you have room. The ones they had in my room were really sad.

Not that you asked but I will recommend walking early and often. It won’t be fun, but you’ll heal so much faster! Also ask if you can bring a speaker into surgery. We picked a few songs to play for baby’s birth and it was just magic.

I never feel comfortable in hospital gowns, they even had a gown that allows breastfeeding (two gaps at the front) but that didn't work too well for me. I had a comfortable sports bra on during delivery, and afterwards I just had a little nighty on for the hospital stay- it allowed them to still examine me if needed, and the top was like a v neck with stretchy material so it was easy to pull aside to breast feed.

I bought a labor and delivery gown to be more comfortable. It opened in 4 different ways, including the back, front and shoulders for nursing. It was super comfortable and I wore it throughout labor, delivery and the first 12 hours. I then had my mom take it home to wash it and then put it back on the 2nd day. Highly highly recommend.
The one thing I will say is that if you’re having a c section, they said I couldn’t wear the one I had because of the metal snaps. This is the one I have.

For baby, we just had her in a diaper and swaddled so I could do as much skin to skin as possible while nursing.

My favorite item to recommend is a short, lightweight robe! Short makes it easier to sleep in, to get in and out of bed, and to feed the babies.

I LOVE these Kindred Bravely pajamas. The shirt is just ok (can also be used as a nursing top which is a plus) but the pants are amazing.

I’ve been living in these since my daughter was born 9 days ago. I also had a c-section and these are easy to slip on and off, they have snaps on the shoulders to make breast feeding easy, and they are super soft and cozy.

I delivered my di/di’s as a double whammy at 27+3. My c-section was an emergency to have baby b out.

My advice is: make sure to pack a robe. Not a long thick one, but one that is light and stops above your knees. You will not want to wear pants, trust me.

The snaps are hard to redo by yourself if you plan on using it as a nursing dress after delivery, but otherwise I love it.

I am also size 18/20 and lost a bunch of weight during the first half of my pregnancy. I bought this robe from Amazon. It fits nicely over my bump (I'm currently 38 wks) and is very comfortable.

I bought this one off amazon. I've been in the hospital many times and have an aversion to stock gowns as well so I wanted something to be cute as well as functional. I plan on walking to aid with labor and I didn't want my ass flashing the whole floor.

Note, though--these particular pjs were a nice cut but a cheap fabric--they pilled like crazy, though never stopped being soft.
