5. MCT Oil Keto derived only from Sustainable Coconuts (32oz). C8 and C10. Keto Diet | Paleo Friendly. Triple Filtered. Each Batch is Independently Tested (32oz)

    Features:
  • MCT OIL SOURCED FROM COCONUTS: Not only is our MCT Oil from the highest quality source possible, it's also as fresh as possible. Unlike other MCT Oil's our product does not sit in warehouses for months. We buy direct from our supplier, as it comes off the line. This ensures the freshest MCT Oil possible. If you're new MCT oil, to avoid stomach discomfort start with 1/2 tsp and work up to a full serving size.
  • EASIER ON THE STOMACH: What makes our product superior? It's harvested from coconuts, not palm oil. It's delivered to us fresh from production (not sitting in a warehouse for months), it doesn't contain C12. It's third party tested. All of which leads to less consumers experiencing stomach discomfort.
  • PURE C8 / C10: Our blend is a 60 / 40 split of C8 and C10. C12 (a common fatty acid found in MCT Oil) behaves like a long chain triglyceride, it has no place in MCT (Medium Chain Triglyceride) Oil. What makes medium chain fatty acids unique is they are delivered to the liver and broken down for energy.
  • WHAT MAKES LEFT COAST PERFORMANCE UNIQUE? Unlike other small independent sellers of MCT oil we buy in large enough volumes to secure the highest quality oil for the best price. And unlike bigger brands we don't have inflated overheads and we don't sell to third party retailers. This all means we can offer better pricing on the highest quality oil.
  • NEW TO MCT OIL: Start Slowly to avoid GI distress. Contact us directly if you have any adverse reactions or side effects

alright here goes my exhaustive list of stuff that goes into my preworkout! i love to research the stuff that works, and then experiment to see how effectively they work for me, especially on keto.

  1. 1 scoop of pre jym from bodybuilding.com - just because i don't want to add all those ingredients (good compared to most) on my own and it tastes pretty good (raspberry lemonade). it does, however, have 4g carbs per scoop - https://www.bodybuilding.com/store/jym/pre-jym.html

  2. 1/2 scoop of optimum nutrition hydrowhey protein powder (about 15g protein) - fast digesting preworkout protein seems more logical than just bcaas. keeps me satiated during my workout and seems to boost recovery times because i have the full gamut of proper amino acids in my bloodstream as exercise-induced insulin rises. turbo chocolate and chocolate peanut butter are my favorites. vanilla surprisingly sucks and gets very foamy - https://www.bodybuilding.com/store/opt/platinum_hydrowhey.html

  3. 1 tsp curcumin powder from bulk supplements - expensive but 1kg lasts a long time - go to examine.com to see the dozens of benefits it has across the board. i use this to help alleviate my disc issues, but it feels great for workouts because it reduces inflammation everywhere, especially joints. you can get pills instead, but they're not as cost effective and i like to blend it into my shakes. MAKE SURE YOU PAIR IT WITH BIOPERINE (already in pre jym but super cheap anyway) OR GET THE BIO AVAILABLE TYPES. otherwise, only your gut will get the benefits -
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GHY364A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

  4. 1 digestive enzyme pill - research has shown that such enzymes not only help with what you'd expect, digestion, but also boost muscle synthesis, immune system, reduce soreness, etc. - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RH5K26I/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  5. 1 tbsp extra citrulline malate - because 1 scoop of pre-jym doesn't have the clinical dose of around 8g. research has shown that it reduces soreness and speeds up muscle repair. i believe it helps performance as well - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EYDJU50/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

  6. EDIT: 1/2 tsp (not 2 tsp) extra beta alanine - because 1 scoop of pre-jym doesn't have enough. this stuff kinda acts like creatine, boosting the number of reps you can do. especially helpful on my high rep/speed days. great for crossfit types of workouts if you're into those. i like the tingly feeling as well - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EIO4I8E/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

  7. 1/2 tsp potassium citrate - i take electrolytes before and during my workouts -
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ENSA93S/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

  8. 1/16 tsp magnesium glycinate - one of the most bioavailable forms of mg and doesn't mess up your digestion -
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F7OZJR8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

  9. 1/2 tsp calcium citrate - Ca and Mg go well together in the body. also, multivitamins rarely hit the RDA for calcium -
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00F8I5XPG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

  10. 1/2 tsp pink salt - sodium! need lots of it because i sweat a lot - https://www.samsclub.com/sams/himalayan-pink-salt-5-lb-fine-grain/prod20131268.ip

  11. 1/4 tsp vitamin c - i take a lot of vit C to help with disc healing. collagen synthesis requires vit C. of course, great anti-oxidant, great for skin, etc. -
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00AYIM9Y8/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  12. 1/2 tsp ALCAR - i supplement this mostly for the nootropic effect (boosts the brain and concentration), but it supposedly helps with fat breakdown and energy a little bit. i feel razor sharp concentrated during my workouts with this. also, it's just plain old good for the brain. -
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E7H96DY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&th=1

  13. 200 mg L-theanine - smooths out the jittery feeling from caffeine to provide more stable energy. also good before bed to get higher quality of sleep. -
    https://www.amazon.com/BulkSupplements-Pure-L-Theanine-Powder-grams/dp/B00E7GESLA/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492089341&sr=8-1&keywords=bulk%2Bl-theanine&th=1

  14. 100mg pill RALA - good for the nervous system and energy - https://www.amazon.com/Doctors-Best-Stabilized-R-Lipoic-BioEnhanced/dp/B000I4C19G/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492089382&sr=8-1&keywords=doctor%27s+best+rala

  15. 200mg coq10 - good for the heart, boosts energy a bit - https://www.amazon.com/Doctors-Best-Absorption-Bioperine-Supplement/dp/B00HRGN36S/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492089466&sr=8-2&keywords=doctor%27s%2Bbest%2Bcoenzyme%2Bq10&th=1

  16. 320mg saw palmetto extract pill - good for men's prostate health, keeps good testosterone high (instead of DHT), and for me, prevents the hairloss that creatine (i think) has induced. not just bs bro science, go to examine.com for research. i personally have regrown a lot of hair by taking 2-3 three of these a day for the last three months! - https://www.amazon.com/Doctors-Best-Palmetto-Softgels-Count/dp/B006RQ6TAG/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492092375&sr=8-1&keywords=doctor%27s+best+saw+palmetto

  17. 1 tbsp psyllium husk powder - keeps my digestion on track, prevents the indigestion i tend to get from MCT oil - https://www.amazon.com/Bulksupplements-Pure-Psyllium-Powder-grams/dp/B0100QRXOO/ref=sr_1_2?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1492092483&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=psyllium%2Bhusk%2Bpowder&th=1

  18. 10g MCT oil - i either use brain octane or miCkey T Eight because they are pure C-8 caprylic acid instead of blends of the crappier acids. definitely boosts energy during long workouts. careful, it tends to mess with your stomach if you don't ease into it. if you're good with coconut oil, you're probably good with this. - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00RUCHISS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  19. 100mg hyaluronic acid - helps with joints and skin. i have noticed my knee and elbow pain going away while taking this. skin complexion also improved. - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00663G8WO/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    currently experimenting with:

  20. clear muscle - i usually supplement HMB, but this is the newer liquid variant. its pricey, and i haven't noticed anything bad about it, but it's hard to say if it's working better than the much cheaper powdered HMB. studies are probably very biased, so i can't really trust them - https://www.amazon.com/MuscleTech-Advanced-Strength-Building-Capsules/dp/B00JQ3WXS4/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492094034&sr=8-1&keywords=clear+muscle

  21. phospha muscle - phosphatidic acid has shown some promise in studies, but again, probably biased research. also cannot tell yet, but i have seen some decent strength gains pairing this with clear muscle. we'll see! - https://www.amazon.com/MuscleTech-Phospha-Clinically-Phosphatidic-SoftGels/dp/B00UVAG1PM/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1492094155&sr=8-1&keywords=phospha+muscle

phew! making this list made me realize how much time and effort i put into the trial and error of my preworkout. of course, i supplement a lot of this stuff with my other meals as well. as you can see, i'm very big on supplements, biohacking, and nootropics. i read up a lot on research in my spare time.

I also have a lot of food allergies.

Keeping meals simple has helped me a lot (not just from an allergy perspective, but diet adherence, time management, etc.) Most of our meals we build around one main protein and 1-2 vegetable side dishes.

I've found searching paleo and whole30 type recipe sites and books helpful for inspiration. While some recipes will be too high carb (or need to be modified) it gives you a lot of basics to start with.

For my carb eating husband I might withhold some of the fat from my meal and add it only to my portion, or make cauliflower rice for me and regular rice for him, or serve my sauce over vegetables instead of noodles. If you keep the carb mostly separate (rice, pasta, potatoes, starchy veg) it is easy to make it work for everyone.

Our primary vegetable side dish rotation is broccoli, green beans, leafy greens (spinach especially), asparagus, cauliflower, snap peas, squash, mushrooms, bell peppers, and brussels sprouts. I often buy 2 or 3 large bags of vegetables per week and mix and match into our meals, then do something different the next week.

For the meats I do a lot of chicken (roasted, fried, stir fried, curried, grilled,) pork (pulled with home made BBQ sauce, roasted, grilled, fried), burgers (beef, turkey, or beyond beef soy/gluten free pea protein), steaks, beef stew (with lots of mushroom and smaller amounts of lower carb starchy veg such as rutabaga), sausages (pork, beef, turkey, or chicken), ground beef (taco salad, stuffed peppers), and sometimes fish (usually just tuna or white fish tacos.)

Some substitutions you might make (but I'm not a doctor so check with yours):

Ok, in that case, the difference between the MCT oils I linked and the pricier ones is debateable, but some people seem to find more benefit from an exclusively C8 oil. I haven't tested this myself yet (I actually will be over the coming days as I ordered some two days ago), so I can't comment too much on the differences, but this article explains a little - be aware it's written by a company that sell both C8 and normal MCT oil. If you are going to go with a C8 oil, the most reasonably priced one I've found is [this one]https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ketone-Producing-Caprylic-Triglycerides-Friendly-KetoPerformance%C2%AE/dp/B01M12RE4D/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1496141620&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=c8+oil&psc=1).

Olive oil is a good choice - it may be a little higher in polyunsaturated fats (PUFAs) than strictly optimum (macadamia nut oil would be a better option in terms of nutrition if cost is no issue, but I can't comment on taste). Coconut oil is a better choice, in my opinion, if you're not bothering with MCT oil. If you are, it probably isn't worth it, though if you do want to use one, this seems to be a good option.

Regarding MCT oil intake, it's a difficult question to answer. Generally a 40-50ml intake is the upper limit of what I'd recommend for a day, but that's more based on recommendations I've seen given by other people than empirical data. I know some Ketochow users actually use only MCT oil as their fat source, so I guess you could even try that if it doesn't cause any problems for you - it's pretty much entirely up to you really, I don't think past a certain point there's really any additional benefits though.

I've checked the MCT contents of Mutant MCT oil and, whilst Bulletproof don't say their exact ratios, the two seem like very comparable products to me.

Yeah, it's a good idea to pay attention to the ratio (which is why some people prefer to get their omega 3s from flax instead of fish oil). Keep ratio ideally between 1:1 and 1:2.3 omega 3 to omega 6, though as high as 1:4 doesn't have health issues.

The algal oil capsules are these ones. They're the best ones I was able to find during my searching, but feel free to check the website and have a look at it, and if you come across any other algal oils elsewhere you think may be better, let me know and if they are better, I'll switch our stock :)

Ah, sounds exactly like what I do sometimes - I've never noticed any issues with 23/1 on the shakes, though the third one can be a struggle to finish due to fullness for the first few days.

When we release our higher protein one then, that could work well for you. But fair enough, if you do find you like it as is but want some addition protein, either a few protein shakes or a normal keto meal should do well.

Sure. Glad to share what I've learned. I've done a lot of reading about it and made extracts and tinctures myself, and I grow plants as well. I live in Oregon.

There is some good info here: Project CBD

I've settled upon 20mg CBD twice a day for now.

I have been buying CBD isolate and dissolving it into MCT coconut oil. This is the least expensive option that I have found. It is very easy to do, and you can control the dosage well. For example, by dissolving 1000mg isolate into 30ml of MCT, I get a dosage of about 33mg CBD per milliliter.

I started doing this because there is a lot of really unreasonable price gouging happening in this industry. I can make my own tincture for about ~$35 per 1000mg, and it is top quality. If anyone wants to start selling it pre-made for that price I am happy to buy their product. This company is the most reasonable price I have seen so far for tinctures. It is also a full-spectrum product, which is really worth it if you can afford it.

Anyway. Here's where I get isolate. They ship to all 50 states. There are other places like CBD Distillery that have it for that price, too.

You just dump 1000mg (1 gram), or even more, into 30ml of MCT oil in a bottle with an eye dropper and shake it for a minute and it totally dissolves. You can adjust the concentration easily to suit your needs. It is completely flavorless. You can do drops under your tongue or just shoot it into your coffee.

Feel free to ask anything specific. I hope this helps. If you decide to add THC to your mix (you do live in a legal state, after all) you can usually find a THC tincture and control your dosage by adding separately. Or, you can just smoke a bowl like I do and keep your CBD separate. The optimum medical benefits are apparently found with a ratio of anywhere from 10 parts CBD to 1 part THC (10:1) to 1:1. That being said, CBD works very well for many people without any THC.

I don't have experience with TBI but exogenous ketones and MCT oil have allowed me more leeway with the amount of protein and carbs I can eat while keeping my blood ketone levels high and blood glucose low. I aim for blood BHB levels above 4 mmol/L and a glucose-ketone index (GKI) of <1.

As far as affordable exogenous ketone supplements go, I use Nutricost Keto BHB Exogenous Ketones. Cheap (as far as exogenous ketones go, at least) and effective.

For MCTs, ideally you would want to go with something high in caprilyc acid (C8) which is the most ketogenic of the MCTs. I use Clean MCT. You don't need to use a C8-only MCT oil, but it will provide the greatest benefit. I've used mixed products before with good results. For an overview of different MCTs, see this blog post from Bulletproof.

Another thing I've found helpful in maintaining therapeutic ketosis is a blood ketone meter, like the Keto-Mojo or Precision Xtra. Tracking my blood glucose and ketone levels after eating has allowed me to tailor my dosage of exogenous ketones and MCTs to maintain a GKI <1 while supplementing strategically and not wasting a ton of money on supplements.

You can use pure coconut oil (which naturally contains mostly MCT oil), pure MCT oil from a health food or vitamin store, or a mixture of both if you'd like. In terms of potency and extraction effectiveness, pure MCT will work best.

It's generally recommended to decarb first to ensure that your final product is evenly decarbed and to allow using the oil in lower temperature recipes, which is preferred due to the volatility of many cannabinoids. I've also read that decarbed THC is more soluble, making it easier to extract from the plant matter which would lead to even better yields.

Stove top is ok if you can accurately measure the temperature of your oil. The oven is recommended because it can accurately hold an even temperature specifically set by the user (rather than guessing "somewhere around medium-lowish"). I believe it's only sealed to avoid from foreign material falling into the oil, since there is a fan running in standard convection ovens. If you must use a stove top I would recommend using a double boiler to buffer & diffuse heat.

MCT Oil on Amazon is considerably cheaper than purchasing locally if you don't mind the shipping time. Good luck!

Wow, thank you for the lengthy reply. I'll look into some products that you mentioned in the first few steps and see how they work out for me. I definitely agree it will be something to do with un-moisturized skin, I just need to find the right products that help my skin as opposed to creating another problem. Since making this post and reading your response, I have ordered this, [this]
(https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B074W8S1RN/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1), [this] (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003YMJJSK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and this.

As for the Lotrimin Ultra, would something like this work?
It contains Terbinafine Hydrochloride 1%, not sure if that's similar to Butenafin Hydrochloride by any chance? If not I have found the exact product you mentioned, although it is a bit more on the expensive side in comparison to what I'm used to. But I will definitely give it a try.

Thank you again for your response, I will hopefully report back soon with positive results!

You might look into an intermittent fasting kind of diet to address your issues while eating at work. A lot of people love it and say it helps their metabolism. You basically just consume your calories within a small window for the day. I've also found that a high fat diet keeps me satiated to where I don't even think about food. But if I'm eating a lot of carbs, I'm usually hungry again within a few hours of eating. When you sleep at night, you can go into ketosis where your body burns fat for fuel. I've found that if I wake up and have nothing but fat for breakfast (usually this stuff blended in coffee/tea), in theory my body might stay in ketosis, and I'm full until the late afternoon/evening. That's something everyone I know who eats a ketosis style diet says, they aren't constantly hungry. Where if I have the same amount of calories from nuts/seeds/cereal/fruit/whatever, I'm always hungry around lunch time. I still always eat around lunch because I'm really active and know I need the calories, but the difference in my appetite is huge. I'm also a lot more mentally clear/sharp with nothing but fat in the morning. You might try that, too.

Like other people said, they are probably either active or they aren't counting their calories correctly. If these people are youtube/internet famous, remember they have a brand/lifestyle/advice to sell, and they're going to say what gets them the most viewers and conveniently leave out other things that aren't so sexy (like hours of cardio a day or whatever). "Eat as much as you won't and you won't get fat!" That sells way better than "Eat a reasonable amount of food for your body and exercise."

u/Captain_Midnight · 3 pointsr/keto

Sweet potatoes and yams are pretty starchy, so in large enough quantities, they will keep you out of ketosis.

Coconut oil is naturally high in lauric acid, (aka C12 because it has 12 carbon bonds). There are small amounts of capric acid (C8) and caprylic acid (C10). C12 is technically an MCT (medium chain triglyceride), but it has to be processed by your liver while C8 and C10 bypass that step. MCT oil is just the latter two acids, making it a more efficient form of fuel than coconut oil. You should definitely feel the difference in your morning coffee.

If you shop around, you can get MCT oil for reasonable prices. Amazon sells Left Coast for $21, and there's Viva Labs for $18. The latter is sourced from palm fruit instead of coconuts, but at this level of refinement, it doesn't matter. It would be like arguing over which country produces the best gasoline. It has no effect on your car's engine :).

Since these bottles have 32 ounces of fluid, that's actually a pretty decent price. Most retail jars of coconut oil are 16 ounces, so although they're cheaper, they also have half the oil (and a fraction of the C8 and C10).

u/thatfatdood · 1 pointr/treedibles

I JUST GOT A WONDERFUL IDEA! Okay, so coconut oil works so well mainly because it has so many medium chain tryglycerides, but I believe it is only 60%. You can buy MCT oil on Amazon

http://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-100%25-32-Fluid-Ounces/dp/B0019LRY8A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1367695371&sr=8-1&keywords=mct+oil

If you put this MCT oil (which is a liquid and is perfect for extracting THC) in a bottle, and add the ground ganja and leave it for cold extraction for maybe three days, it should work extremely well! I just don't know if you can cook with this MCT oil. If it does work, it would be the absolute most effective oil to make edibles with!

u/renerdrat · 1 pointr/Alzheimers

no but there's a huge article about coconut oil and alzheimers on the internet, i'm sure there's plenty more now. the MCT oils in coconut oil fuel the brain very well.

You can actually buy pure MCT oil on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-100%25-32-Fluid-Ounces/dp/B0019LRY8A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1426579004&sr=8-1&keywords=mct+oil

Anyway just thoguht I'd show you some alternatives to just coconut oil.

u/nallabor · 2 pointsr/Keto_Food

Lets see... I've tried quite a few, but certainly not all of them. I remember these 4 specifically.

Mickey T Pure Caprylic Acid - I don't like that it uses some palm kernel oil. I really like it, but I'm only on my first bottle. Little to no taste.

Nature's Way Coconut Oil - Only 94% MCT if I recall correctly (nonissue for me). Tastes good, like mild coconut.

Sports Research - Quality, but it has a slight chemically chloride aftertaste.

Burried Treasure - Stay away. Significant consistency/quality issues across 4 different bottles (3 from Amazon and 1 from Central Market). 1 had little to no flavor, 3 had a similar chemically chloride aftertaste.

I'll next try one of these two:

one, two

I haven't tried any of the Bulletproof stuff and don't intend to.

u/imcalledsars · 0 pointsr/keto

Just reading through some other comments, I would agree that your calories are too high and you're consuming too many carbohydrates. I'd cut your carbs down to below 20g per day and up the fat content in your diet. 1 easy way to add more fat in your diet is bulletproof coffee, especially since you're already drinking a lot of coffee. Here's my 2 recipes:

Iced (this is my daily go to): 8oz cold brew, 1 TBSP heavy whipping cream, and 1 TBSP MCT oil, blended for about 10 seconds. Pour over ice. Optional: add a tiny amount of SweetLeaf Sweet Drops. The coconut flavor is my favorite. I usually double this recipe every morning.

Hot: 8oz fresh brewed coffee, 2 TBSP unsalted butter, 2 TBSP coconut oil or MCT oil, blended until butter and oil is melted. Optional: add a tiny amount of SweetLeaf Sweet Drops.

u/Entropy_surfer · 1 pointr/ketoscience

If you haven't read this already, you'll find it interesting. Basically the punchline is that if you're glycogen depleted to a significant extent, the majority of the glucose in your system will go toward glycogen replenishment. You can use that to your advantage to time carb intake. I'm not sure that there will be a major difference between glycogen stored and increased serum glucose.

My guess is you could stand to eat a few carbs and not cycle in and out of ketosis, as long as you're getting enough cardio in on top of your other workouts. I've been doing Keto for about three months now, and I'm a climber. I was really interested at in how keto would affect my climbing performance since climbing relies heavily on the phosphogen and the glycolytic systems. Initially my performance did suffer during adaptation. Once I was fat adapted I haven't noticed much of an impact on my climbing ability. I'd be willing to bet that with a little bit more training you'll be able to crank out 50 PU again after your muscles adapt to using more ketones.

As for fuel, I highly recommend the C8 oil that is on the market now. This stuff is the most ketogenic component of MCT oil. I've used this stuff and I feel great when working out. Careful though, it'll lubricate your guts even more than MCT. I take mine in bulletproof coffee, half butter, half C8 and about a tbsp of powdered lecithin.

u/ItsBaconOclock · 1 pointr/keto

I have Amazon Prime, which makes it cheaper after shipping than anywhere else that I've seen. So if you go that way, I think Amazon is the best option.

Pro Tip: In case you didn't know, too much MCT (or Coconut Oil) will clean you out. Otherwise they're both great. The More You Know

u/Peace_Love_Keto · 8 pointsr/ketogains

If you goal is to do a frugal keto, then OMAD (one meal a day) is probably your best bet. My plan isn’t exactly OMAD because the BPC is pretty calorie heavy, but it satiates me and holds me over through lunch/dinner.

Breakfast: BPC (Bulletproof Coffee). I use 2 Tbsp of unsalted Kerrygold and 2 Tbsp of MCT oil (you can sub coconut oil for the MCT). I use this brand of MCT.

Approximately 53g of fat, 460 calories.

This leave all of my protein and around 50g of fat for late lunch/early dinner. This can be varied: grilled chicken with an avocado. Steak and broccoli with cheese. Fish and asparagus, etc. The key for me is the BPC in the morning as it holds me over throughout the day. Also remember to drink A LOT of water as keto will cause you to lose a lot of water weight. I also drink an apple cider vinegar drink a couple of times a day to curb hunger/cravings. Just a Tbsp of ACV with a Tbsp of lemon juice in a full glass of water with a few drops of stevia.

Hope that helps! Oh and buy almond flour at Costco, the Kirkland brand is really good! And check out /r/kerorecipes for meal ideas!

u/KConHHI · 2 pointsr/keto

I use MCT oil powder daily. It’s been a huge help with some GI issues I was having before going to Keto. I’ve found it helps energize me in the mornings and I’m not nearly as hungry throughout the day. Everything I read about it says to make sure you use a formula that just has MCT oil and acacia fiber. I’ve tried a couple different ones and this one is what I’ve settled on. It’s tasteless and mixes well with any liquid. I put it in my electrolyte water each morning and in my tea at night.

u/I_talk_about_stuff · 2 pointsr/keto

Pretty much everything in the supplement world is a scam, at least as far as over marketing products with pretty labels and lots of "science" to make their product superior to the next guys. Most people in the bodybuilding world already know this but it is unfortunate that there are people who want to take advantage of dieters now as well.

Always look at the lesser marketed products for comparison.

Here is the Now brand for 15 bucks vs 30 for bulletproof brand. The only difference is that you did not just read a 3 page ad for the bulletproof product that would have jerked off your ego just enough to not care that you are paying a lot more.

http://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-100%25-32-Fluid-Ounces/dp/B0019LRY8A/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1397232291&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=pvl++mct

This is not against bulletproof. This is just supplements in general so that I am clear that I am not just hating on one brand.

Also that is just a quick search. If you search for an online vitamin store in your area you may find one even cheaper. The now and pvl brands are both good and come without price inflation.

Yes, regular coconut oil is good too. But not as good.

When you're taking MCT oil, it's almost like eating ketones. It enables your body to get used to distributing ketones around your body and using it for energy. It also enables you to stay in ketosis easier when you mess up and eat incorrectly.

So it kind of gives you a head start and a buffer zone.

Hang in there. Euphoria is just around the corner.

I know it's about as reliable as a reddit comment, but someone asked a question on their Amazon listing and that was all in the reply by another customer. I read their description and sure enough, they mention its a "full spectrum" containing Lauric Acid. I went to a few other listings and they specifically say they contain only C8 and C10. There's no need for dairy anything, if you don't want it. I eat a little cream/butter/etc because I enjoy the flavor, but most of my fat calories actually come from medium-chain triglycerides.

Medium-chain triglycerides do not need bile salts for digestion; rather, they are absorbed directly via the portal system and converted to ketones in the liver.

This is the brand I get, as it's specifically only Caprylic and Capric acid.

-------------------------

It works great as a general-purpose oil. You can cook with it, use it as a salad dressing, whatever you like. It has no real taste of its own, so it will just carry the flavors of what you're cooking rather than influence them on its own.

Well, I would say you should add some things that aren't particularly high protein, just mostly fat. With your current ratio it seems like you're probably getting plenty of protein.

So here's some foods that are mostly fat that I enjoy. Coffee with heavy cream. Macadamia nuts. Avocados. Cream cheese (yep, just straight up cream cheese). Olives. You get the idea.

I also supplement some oils. I drink a tbsp of Carlson fish oil every day to ensure my Omega 6/Omega 3 ratio is good. I also drink 2 tbsp of MCT oil every day before my bike ride because Medium chain triglycerides are highly ketogenic.

At any rate I get 70+% of my daily calories from fat, more if I do a lot of cardio so it's certainly possible to eat a lot more fat. I don't eat a lot of red meat, pork, or just meat in general either but in my case it's because they're a bit too high in protein (relative to fat) for my purposes.

u/whattheheckistha · 1 pointr/soylent

MCT oil is quite satiating, actually. I was drinking a DIY workout soylent for awhile and and a tablespoon a day of MCT along with my olive oil was great. I started with all that and now I'm just using a collagen supplement, mct powder, and 1 tbs of hwc. 125 cal, 10 fat, 6.6 protien. That actually keeps me going until the afternoon easily and often until dinner time.

I'm using this mct and this collagen powder. I've always had issues with no energy since I was around 12 years old and keto hasn't helped like I hoped. The MCT powder definitely gives me the boost I've been looking for, I noticed it the first couple days after starting it. Bulletproof coffee? coffee, butter and MCT oil (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0041TXXLO/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0041TXXLO&linkCode=as2&tag=kevingeary-20)

I use whole cream in diet cola (coke float) or coffee or just drink it straight as well.

u/anbeav · 2 pointsr/ketogains

So you've always felt tired, it sounds like perhaps something you should discuss with a doctor as it doesn't seem keto-related.

MCT oil is medium chain triglyceride which is directly converted to ketones for immediate energy (http://www.amazon.com/NOW-Foods-100-32-Fluid-Ounces/dp/B0019LRY8A) Many mix it in coffee, but you can add it to tea.

I also do IF and train fasted, the original leangains protocol is based on fasted-training, but if that's not working for you perhaps consider a different approach.

I always get this stuff but I would like to try the fuel stuff pre workout

I get mine on Amazon but you can get it from GNC, Vitamin Shoppe or any health store:

Yeah of course!

MCT oil is fractionated coconut oil. I buy this brand off of Amazon and use it in OCM. It is possible that the pyrithione zinc is counteracting the sweet almond oil, my formula didn't contain zinc and it made my SD flare up badly.

u/Pipes32 · 1 pointr/keto

It is definitely 100% MCT oil! Here's the stuff I use:

u/SpindlySpiders · 2 pointsr/ketogains

Best deal I've found is on Amazon, and this doesn't have any strong flavors. https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0019LRY8A/

I mix it with shakes or smoothies and don't have any stomach problems from it. One time I thought I'd skip the shake and just swallow it directly. Big mistake. I was in the bathroom almost all day. I've never tried capsules before, but I recommend spreading it out over a whole day or at least a few hours and not taking it all in one go.

u/njpatel · 1 pointr/reddevils

I only had one day of "ketoflu" - and it was actually my fault, I normally work from home and so I had thought I'd stick to having enough salt etc without issue. However the day after starting keto, i was called into the city for some work and I completely forgot to have enough salt and gave myself a headache for the day!

Apart from that, getting used to it was much easier than I had imagined - mainly because I always felt full. I also did a bulletproof coffee in the mornings (with some of this MCT oil), and then a large lunch, and chicken + steamed veg for dinner. I used myfitnesspal to make sure I stuck to my goal calories (I'm very overweight so my current limit is 1300 cals). However I still find it hard to eat that much some days.

I don't do cheat days etc, because it then takes another 2-3 days to get back into Ketosis, which is just time lost. My thinking is that I've had enough "cheat days" in my life already, so this year is about focusing on losing weight and gaining muscle, then I can slowly bring back carbs etc into my diet!

I really think it's worth sticking to it, and the initial struggle of "what to eat?" "how much to eat?" etc is worth it - good luck!

In coconut oil, their is a particular type of fat known as medium-chain triglycerides. The good part is that they are super bad ass for your health which is why I put MCT oil in all kinds of stuff. The bad news is that your body is not used to them, and they can cause diarrhea for the coconewbie. I put two tbsps of MCT in my coffee (equivalent of 12 TBSPS coconut oil) and I have no digestive issues with it. It's all about adjusting to the special fat.

u/JohnnyRockets911 · 5 pointsr/ketochow

MCT Oil out of the budget? Here's the one I buy for $18.99 -- https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MGW5UVY

P.S. I tried Keto Chow with coconut oil when I first started. It tasted like crap and when it got cold it solidified into floating chunks. Super disgusting. The MCT Oil is worth it. Don't try Keto Chow and dislike it on account of the coconut oil. Much, much better with MCT Oil. You don't even taste it.

u/thatmarkjones · 1 pointr/Waxpen

I've heard MCT coconut oil is soluble with extracts and vapes nice..
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00XM0Y9SE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_RkQEzbKNG0NFR

I would try that before PG/PEG anyday. Has to be MCT though. Terps are best but expensive..

So an update on this. I've been taking up to 4 tablespoons of this MCT oil: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KPZXER6/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I was taking it along with magnesium, collagen, and red reishi mushroom. I think it did have a helpful effect on my tremor, but it's hard to say because I haven't figured out a way to easily measure head tremor except for looking in the mirror. It's possible that it's not as effective for head tremor as it is for the hands. I wonder if the effect on the tremor is just because of the effect a keto diet has. So maybe someone who is not on a keto diet already can try this one out.

I haven't used coconut oil because I buy this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0019LRY8A/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1421085372&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SY200_QL40 . I would think coconut oil would work as well since that's what this comes from.

Similar recipe. I don't use the stupid overpriced coffee and oil from that guy's web site, I just use unsalted butter, Folgers standard brew(usually) and this MCT oil.

Use MCT oil. Either the NOW foods or Premium. Both available from Amazon US and Canada.

Medium Chain Triglycerides (MCT)

You should be able to substitute it for GSO or CSO. It's a very light oil, it should be easy to inject. MCT is absorbed very quickly in the gut, no idea how quickly it's absorbed with IM injection.

This is the MCT oil I use nothing but 15G of fat per tablespoon.

I put a tablespoon in the morning with my coffee then another tablespoon before bed in a cup of tea.

u/logfromrenandstimpy · 1 pointr/JoeRogan

Recently bought this one at walmart just because of convenience. I have tried Onnit and the emmulsified one is better in coffee and stuff because it adds flavor. I would suggest this one just because it is the best bang for your buck. Keep it low quantity to start with. You will have crazy full on run to the bathroom right now liquid shits if you take too much. I use a medicine cup to measure out 10ml and toss it in my shake and then do the same with my salad at lunch with my dressing.

u/bcarlzson · 2 pointsr/keto

Here is the product. The big difference is it doesn't clump up like coconut oil if you put it in a shake and put that shake in the fridge.

MCT is just the ingredient in coconut oil that helps put you in ketosis. You can buy it by itself here.

I bought the liquid coconut oil only because I don't have amazon prime and needed it right away.

BTW, when you start taking this stuff, you might have ummmm stomach issues.

u/Beauregard_Jones · 3 pointsr/keto

You can buy MCT itself. I don't care for the taste of coconut. Plain MCT oil is flavorless. I add 1Tbsp to my hot tea in the morning, and don't notice any effect on the flavor of the tea.

I just started a week or so ago. I started with 1 tbsp and continued that for about three days, then upped it to 2 tbsp. I also put in 2 tbsp of butter and about 2-3 tbsp of half and half.

This is the product I use: https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Coconut-Digest-Filtered-Independent/dp/B00QL083S4

I recommend it! It's decently priced, and it has no taste. I originally used coconut oil but got tired of the taste in my coffee.
