I love sandalwood. My lady loves sandalwood on me. Here are a few of my opinions on sandalwood and sandalwood-inspired scents.

St. Charles Shave Santalum Album Extract: (EdT) This is a one-note sandalwood. Quite sweet and creamy, and almost gourmand in character. US$18 for 2 oz.

St. Charles Shave Limited Edition Sandalwood from Wood: (EdT) still a one-note sandalwood, but deeper and richer. Less sweet, a bit more woody. A friend of mine pronounced that it has "more gravitas."

Herve Leger Homme: (EdT) This is artificial sandalwood (ebonal, and maybe okumal) but smells quite nice. Brightened up with ginger and yuzu (a hint of fruity acidity compared to a creamy sandalwood) and lasts a long, long time. Unfortunately, this has been discontinued. Dangit!

Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Cologne: This is a sophisticated scent, with some lavender, floral notes, and patchouli, with plenty of powderiness (to my nose.) The sandalwood isn't very present at all, though it's a nice scent. Garnered compliments from my lady despite its sweetness and floral notes. Not very long-lasting, and wants a separate atomizer. (Used as a splash, it's too powerful, and cloying!)

MPeG Santal Noble: Edt - A favorite of mine. Not super sandalwoody, but very woody. Smells like freshly-sawn cedar planks, along with amber, coffee, and spices. A superb scent, though not sandalwood-forward.

Karnataka Mysore Sandalwood Soap: This is a soap with actual Santalum Album oil (this is the "true" sandalwood, as opposed to the less complex "Australian sandalwood" and "Hawaiian sandalwood" oils.) Very little sweetness. The "soap" scent comes through clearly, but smells natural, as opposed to artificial. Over time, the sandalwood scent diminishes, but doesn't smell less "real," only less strong.

Every Man Jack Sandalwood Bodywash: This is a gel, in a plastic showergel bottle. It's not real sandalwood, but is pleasant enough. The scent doesn't last beyond the shower, but my lady likes how it smells as I use it. Sweeter than Karnataka, and more artificial, but not bad for everyday shower duty.

Caress Endless Kiss Sandalwood Vanilla body wash: No. Just no. Got it home and was uninspired. I added actual sandalwood oil and actual vanilla extract in an attempt to salvage this, but it could not be done. You'd have better luck adding fragrance oils to an unscented body wash, in my opinion.

Proraso Red (sandalwood) shaving cream: This is a great shaving cream, expecially for the price. The sandalwood is very earthy, and not very sweet to my nose. Lathering is excellent, lubrication is great. The scent doesn't last after the shave, but it's great while it does. I carry a tube in my gym bag, and also use the stuff at home. Very nice earthy sandalwood scent.

Nature de France Sandalwood Deodorant: This is an earthy sandalwood, quite similar to the Proraso cream. Not sweet, not overly creamy or woody. No aluminum, so it's not an antiperspirant, just a deodorant. Still, I love the smell.

Ogallala Bay Rum with Sandalwood aftershave: This is an aftershave, based on Ogallala's spice-heavy Bay Rum scents (cowboy-style, as opposed to pirate-style "pure" bay rum scents.) The sandalwood isn't particularly realistic, but it is pleasant, and has gotten me more than a few compliments. It's a very sweet sandalwood, to the point where I sometimes find it a bit cloying. My lady never fails to compliment me, though, if I've used it, regardless of whether I tell her that I have. Needs to be shaken and -for best result- applied once your face is dry. Good skin conditioning.

u/BostonPhotoTourist · 5 pointsr/wicked_edge

I was actually asked that very question about 10 days ago. I've copied the response below:

Okay, so I'll answer the question in two parts:

Aftershaves

This is a tough one. There aren't that many fougère aftershaves that are both good and inexpensive. The best I can recommend would be, in order of price:

Antonio Puig Agua Lavanda (ignore the literature and just trust me on this)

Pour un Homme de Caron Aftershave Balm, which is both soothing to the skin and one of the greatest lavender fragrances ever built. It's been a little battered by time and reformulation, but is still a masterpiece. Simple, unobtrusive lavender, vanilla, and clean musk.

D.R. Harris Arlington is one of the most revered fougères in shaving, though I must confess that I'm not terribly fond of its sweetness. I find it rather too lemony for me, which gives it an air of lemon pez.

Perfumes

I feel rather odd saying this but the absolute best compliment to Imperiale, in my view at least, is not a fougère at all, but a leather fragrance called Knize ("kuh-nee-sha") Ten. It's a dark, dry, old-style leather, the preferred fragrance of James Dean, and one of the most richly complex fragrances I've ever encountered. It's gorgeous stuff, jointly created by two of the greatest perfumers in history. That said, it's an extraordinarily divisive fragrance, so I'd order a sample of it if you think it might be for you. If you need recommendations for sample dealers, just let me know.

If you're looking for lighter and cleaner, I can recommend four brilliant fougères that would work beautifully with Imperiale:

  1. Geoffrey Beene Grey Flannel: A slightly peculiar but eerily beautiful fougère with heavy emphasis on petitgrain and iris. Bitter and powdery, with rich oak moss base notes, and one of my favorite fragrances of all time. It's dirt cheap to boot.

  2. Penhaligon's English Fern: Perhaps the most "classic" of the fougères on this list, though it's heavier on clover and anise than most other fougères I've encountered, which really plays up the "soapy green" aspect of such scents. Extremely popular in the shaving world and very much a "mature" fragrance; I never feel old enough when I wear it.

  3. Azzaro Pour Homme: The only aromatic fougère on my list, this is one of the great masterpieces of perfumery and so historically significant that there are six individual perfumers who claim to created it. It carries a slightly bitter caraway note and has a bit of a rough beginning, but transforms into a beautiful, airy fougère within about 15 minutes. It's quite inexpensive, especially for what it is, and a little goes a long way.

  4. Guerlain Mouchoir de Monsieur: The "Gentleman's Handkerchief" is my absolute favorite perfume of all time (and, coincidentally, the one I wore to my law school graduation). It was created in 1905 as the brighter, dirtier cousin to Aimé Guerlain's masterpiece Jicky. It carries a lot of lemon and a considerable dose of civet, which turns to a beautiful velvety power on my skin. There's really no replacement for smelling it in person, but it's unfortunately very difficult to come by in US department stores or even perfume specialty shops, so I recommend ordering a sample of it (and Jicky, if you're interested in the perfume that made Guerlain famous).

    Hope that helps.

Sure! So we're looking for something casual but classy for cooler weather and frrrrrigid winters, all-purpose wear, youthful but not immature, and most importantly, affordable.

Burberry Brit is a very good start. Burberry London might be worth a shot, too. It's sweeter and richer than Brit, trading vanilla powder for sweet, dark woods. A great fall/winter scent.

Tommy Bahama Men (the old one in the kidney-shaped bottle, not the new fruity one in the flask-shaped bottle, Tommy Bahama FOR Men). It's peppery and woody and warm, unsweet, very manly. Similar to Brit except lacking the rose/powder notes.

Versace The Dreamer - give this one a full wear before you rule it out. At first spray it smells odd, almost like rotting pine needles and burning plastic, herbal and spicy and weird. But after a half hour or so those notes fade and work to give a kick to a gorgeous tobacco, floral, and dry vanilla bean heart. Utterly masculine, but not macho or brutish like some stuff.

Bulgari Pour Homme: a slightly musty tea scent with classy florals. Fascinating and unique without being off-putting or out-there.

John Varvatos Platinum - another nice woody that works great in cool weather with a business casual attire. Dark and semi-sweet sandalwood. I am a fan of the entire Varvatos line and his nose of choice, Rodrigo Flores-Roux. They make fragrances that are simultaneously modern and classic, classy but not dated or stodgy. Also try John Varvatos, John Varvatos Vintage, and John Varvatos Artisan Acqua.

Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense - Woody-creamy and a bit red-spicy, it's a really nice designer fragrance. The skin-saltiness of myrrh and labdanum carries a soapy vanilla/amber/floral heart. As with most of the Prada line, it's a bit abstract and chemical-y but in a good way.

As always try before you buy. I'm making some assumptions about your style and taste recommending these.

u/BrightKnight141 · 8 pointsr/malefashionadvice

First of all, try /r/fragrance for a more info. Also I'm only in high school, but I've researched a ton about colognes- even then take everything I say with a grain of salt.

Second of all, Animale Animale is a wonderful fragrance, one of my friends has it and loves the shit out of it. You can't really go wrong with Jean Paul Gaultier's Le Male. I had a sample of that from Sephora, but it ran out, so I got this instead- Cuba Gold. It's almost the same, the only difference that I can discern is the first 15 minutes of Cuba Gold is more... papery smelling if you will... It's a little bit harder on the nose, but besides that it's near identical.

Next, I'd recommend going to Sephora, or any fragrance store for that matter, and trying the fragrance before you buy it- everybody's skin is slightly different, and what works for me may not work for you and vice versa. You can also go with a few friends for opinions, but don't take everything they say super seriously. After all, this is for you, not them.

Finally, I'd recommend looking at some review from YouTubers who do this a lot. My two favorite channels are the FragranceBros, and DracDoc.

Feel free to PM me if you have any more questions :)

I suggest going down to CVS or Target for your balm...

Duke Cannon Ice Cold or Cremo Cooling balm at Target is about $2.50 / ounce, so $10 for those (roughly), and CVS offers Aqua Velva 5 in 1 Sensitive Balm for about $6 (forget the product size, maybe 3 ounces?). You can also get the AV from Amazon for less, depending on seller.

IMHO, any of these three mentioned outperforms any currently offered artisan balms, and at a cheaper price point. The scents are mild, pleasant, and fade quickly, and that last point is seen with all artisan balms also, so is kind of a standard characteristic.

As far as EDTs, also suggest moving away from artisans, at least until you have funds built up and preferences established.

Grey Flannel is all of $17: https://www.amazon.com/Flannel-Geoffrey-Beene-Toilette-4-Ounce/dp/B000C1UEZI/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1539875209&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=grey+flannel+cologne+for+men&psc=1

Paco Rabanne PH EDT = $25: https://www.amazon.com/Paco-Rabanne-toilette-Spray-Ounce/dp/B000195QUO/ref=pd_sim_194_1?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B000195QUO&pd_rd_r=9f98cdfc-d2e7-11e8-b4d0-e1b91b9d888c&pd_rd_w=PX1it&pd_rd_wg=9FEW5&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=18bb0b78-4200-49b9-ac91-f141d61a1780&pf_rd_r=VGKK7S8TY20TGP2RN09Q&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=VGKK7S8TY20TGP2RN09Q

VC & A Tsar roughly the same price: https://www.amazon.com/Van-Cleef-Arpels-Toilette-Ounces/dp/B000CNP4HO/ref=sr_1_1_s_it?s=beauty&ie=UTF8&qid=1539875354&sr=1-1&keywords=tsar+edt

As is Aramis by Lauder: https://www.amazon.com/Aramis-Toilette-Spray-Body-Shampoo/dp/B000GSVJCY/ref=pd_sim_194_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07HJS653R&pd_rd_r=df727a40-d2e7-11e8-99db-c5033403ba63&pd_rd_w=G03Iv&pd_rd_wg=41Axs&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=18bb0b78-4200-49b9-ac91-f141d61a1780&pf_rd_r=CN4KW05R616MJBSDPD6A&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&refRID=CN4KW05R616MJBSDPD6A&th=1

Not even mentioning Brut or Old Spice! (Aim for EDC or EDP in both of those, not the aftershave.)

Anyway, you may not like each and every one of these fragrance choices, but based on what you've said so far, you seem to be OK with smelling like something other than "the ocean", or "fresh". So all of these are worth a try, and a 1.7 oz bottle of any of these will last you for 7 or 8 months, assuming constant use of three spritzes per day.

Most artisans are good at making soap. A very few are also good at making scents, but to me, it makes more sense to try older, cheaper classic scents first for best value and the most bang for the buck.

u/Oodava · 3 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

There are a lot of good cheaper quality colognes out there. Nautica Blue, Curve for men, or even on the higher end of things Jean Paul for Men.

However, what I'd recommend is that you head over to your local Nordstroms cologne section. In most Nordstroms you will find little sample vials which you can fill up with any kind of cologne you desire. From the $150 bottles, to the $40, doesn't matter, just sprits it into the sample sprayer and use it next time you want to impress. Not only that, but if it's slow and the sales guy is cool chances are you can walk out of there with about half a months worth of cologne. Just make sure you bring a fine point felt pen/sharpie to write on the sample tubes so you know what to buy if you find one that smells fantastic on yourself. Good Luck!

u/PressPauseplz · 1 pointr/Colognes

A good buy is Dolce and Gabbana The One(Eau De Parfum). The projection isn’t the best, but it’s a really good date night fragrance. But if you want a more projection, another really good fragrance is Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit De L’Homme(Eau De Toilette). They’re both good, masculine fragrances and compliment getters and you can wear them almost anywhere at anytime.

The One

La Nuit De l’Homme

u/SublimeScholar · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Acqua di Gio is my recommendation. I like it, Colognemasters likes it, a lot of people like it. The biggest complaint people make is that it is too popular, but most good fragrances that you'll be recommended are popular.

If you want some insight into what MFA as a whole likes, here you go. Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme, Chanel Bleu, Dolce and Gabanna The One, and Armani Code are excellent, in my humble opinion.

EDIT: Fixed the messed up links

I do have one semi-interesting story to share regarding scent. There was a time before Axe was widely known as the teenage boy's over used scent. There was a time when it was new and just starting with their.. let's call it "overly sexual" ads. The early ads where women would just flock to the guys who put on a single swipe of Axe.

>I stopped into a radio shack one day to check out some electric bits and the woman at the front of the store was talking to I think another co-worker or a friend who was in the store. Anyway the girl was telling the other woman how basically when her dude puts on the axe deoderant she kinda can barely stop herself from jumping him "just like the commercial". It's probably one of the most amusing anecdotes I have involving black women. Actually now that I think about it that was the day I got my 3.5mm male-male audio cable that I still use today to connect my TV to my speaker. Good looking woman too now that I reflect.

I had not dissimilar experiences with my ex but it's hard to distinguish her being really into me and her being especially into something I did so it might be moot.

In conclusion I don't have a scent profile. There's stuff I use and stuff I avoid. That said "You smell nice" is one of my favorite compliments (receiving).

E: I was on amazon and saw something I hadn't seen in a long time one of my most successful scents: Cuban Cigar lookng thing

u/CampBenCh · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I use Lacsote Essential and I have never had complaints- but I've also not really had compliments. Honestly I've gotten more compliments that I smell good just by coming out of the shower or wearing deodorant. It's like I spent $70 on cologne and the only thing that makes me smell good to the ladies is fricken Irish Springs soap.

Florida Water. Always Florida Water.

I am pretty sure it's been claimed to have the benefits of any and all, it's basically full of essential waters, and you can sometimes buy it at the dollar tree. Or amazon, whatever you prefer.

http://www.luckymojo.com/catalogue.html

Lucky Mojo is a great go-to for wooey stuff. The woman who runs it also collects / sells things in the same vein of old timey and curio like. Not necessarily woo.

I think you can use that as a starting point and find distributors from there :)

http://www.luckymojo.com/mojocatpharmacy.html

The Chinese healing bit gets me all tingly even thinking of the smells.

u/SuavePadawan · 1 pointr/GetSuave

Depending on your budget, I would suggest you few of my favorite.

  • Legend Intense by Mont Blanc (I just found out it's way cheaper if you buy it on amazon.ca, 57$/3,4oz

  • Terre d'hermes for men 40$/1,7oz

I wore Legend Intense 3 days/week during my university classes. Good choice, it smells both fresh and class. Base notes (after 2-3 hours) are my favorite.

Terre d'Hermès is my next buy. Perfect for spring/summer. Smells fruity, woody and earthy.

However, I would suggest you to take care. Smell is a refined sense, your preference won't necessarily match his. Before buying, you should think about trying with him, make this a enjoyable experience.

u/phdpeabody · 20 pointsr/AskMen

My roomate in college sold fragrances and I ended up with about 100 different bottles by the time we graduated. What bothered me the most about this entire thing is you missed Dior and Chanel entirely. You want something citrusy that blows Aqua di Gio out of the water? Dior Higher Energy. This is hands down my favorite spring/summer daytime fragrance. Want to add some musk to that and bring it into the evening time? Chanel Allure Homme (holy crap this is now $125 a bottle), perfect for the fall. Then when winter rolls around and EDTs don't stick and you want someting rich and frgrant that wafts delicious when you take your coat off? Dior Homme Intense (This bottle lasts FOREVER, 2 sprays all day.. I can smell if coming off in the shower the next day). There's a reason why french cologne makers make more than one fragrance, and it's not to sell to different demographics like US colognes (looking at you Calvin Klein).. it's for the same demographic to wear on different occassions. I've seen that trend with Chanel, Gucci, and Dior.. which are hands down three of the best perfumiers in the world.

u/_fenian · 1 pointr/fragrance

Please, stay away from cheap body sprays…

Instead, buy some 4711 by Muelhens. It's $30 for a big, 27 oz bottle. They have smaller sizes of course, but a big bottle is cheap and will last you a long time, even if you spray with reckless abandon. Plus it's a classy, classic that's super clean, crisp and fresh. Highly rated and well regarded for a "cheapie".

Or, you can get some Al Rehab Silver roll-on oil. It lasts a while and is cheap ($4 for a roll-on vial). Often compared to Creed Silver Mountain Water, of course it's not the same quality/scent, but a number of people like it.

u/darkus552 · 5 pointsr/teenagers

Alright, so. From my experience, chicks dig my Gucci perfume. My personal favorites are Armani Ice Code and Versace Eros. Lastly, another great one is Armani's Acqua Di Gio. All last for a long ass time and the smell is great.

Edit: All of these smell relatively sweet, not musky. If that makes sense lol.

u/Gingor · 2 pointsr/AskMen

Taylor of old Bond Street Sandalwood Cologne. Smells good, the ladies love it.

>A classic fougere fragrance with top notes of geranium, lavender, rosemary and liquid amber supported by a heart of carnation, fern and orange blossom resting on a sumptuous base of patchouli, sandalwood, vetivert, powdery musk and rock rose. Contains Cedarwood oil, Geranium oil, Guaicwood oil, Lavandin Grosso, Patchouli oil, Rosemary oil and Vetiver oil.

u/teehee_23 · 1 pointr/Wet_Shavers

Perry Ellis 360 Red. Pretty good scent for ~$25. Like I said, it's Acqua di Gio with more spice. Pretty good longevity, too.

u/Nirvalica · 2 pointsr/fragrance

Nautica Voyage. Fantastic fragrance, if you haven't tried it I think you'll love it. Cheap to try too... less than $20 on Amazon for 3.4oz. Definitely buy it.

EDIT: You might also like Mont Blanc Presence Cool.

And even though it's not as well respected as many other fragrance brands, Curve Wave is very salty smelling to me.

u/MusicalDingus · 5 pointsr/sex

For anybody looking for scent recommendations I'd suggest 360 Red by Perry Ellis, I feel sexy wearing it. I've heard people say it smells like an improved version of Acqua di Gio by Giorgio Aramni (I've never used that so idk about that though). Also Voyage by Nautica, it's a light clean summer/spring scent, I think it would be better suited for a picnic or something during the day than an evening dinner in a suit.

u/Hraboskyjr · 3 pointsr/Shave_Bazaar

So I was in the same boat as you a few months ago, and looked for help on the /r/wicked_edge discord server.

I initially asked for that scent at a cheaper price because there was no way I was going to shell out 350+ for a bottle of cologne.
A user there pointed me to this bottle, has he owned both and could not tell the difference between the two scents.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M3IFUMK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

hope this helps.

Quick edit: I bought it and can verify it smells like it - I was initially looking as I love the executive man scents from stirling soap company & found it was made based off of the creed aventus.

I have had multiple people (men and women) ask about my cologne, specifically asking what brand, where to buy it... etc.

I would recommend this bottle to anyone.

Another edit: If you're looking to just see what it smells like, here is a product from stirling soaps that smells like the cologne.

This is a partially subjective question. But I tend to have reserved tastes. So heres goes.

Nautica, you can never go wrong with this one, its a best seller for a reson

[Mont Blanc, I suggest you read the reviews first. But it's recommended] (http://www.amazon.com/Blanc-Individuel-Toilette-Spray-Ounces/dp/B000C1W032/ref=pd_sim_bt_23)

Hope that helps! :)

u/JMULV_PICKUP · 9 pointsr/seduction

it's a threshold thing.

don't be fat.
don't be real skinny.
don't dress like shit.
don't have a shitty haircut.

optimize what you can. yes i have an advantage being tall but guys can't change that. what they can change is having a better physique, better style/clothes, a better haircut, and taking care of their hygiene. While hygiene is not directly "looks", if you aren't showering regularly and brushing your teeth regularly, that's going to have negative impact on your interactions. Guys should also be wearing cologne. I currently wear Nautica Voyage. I put on cologne every time before going out to do game, before having a date, and before hanging out with a fuckbuddy.

so, to answer your question. looks matter of course but just optimize what you can and then forget about it. don't let being short or ethnic get in your head and fuck everything up.

u/obeetwo2 · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I was looking into fragrances (I know the weekly thread was just recent, but wasn't able to ask there) and have only seen good things about the Nautica Voyage scent, I was wondering if this is a good F/W scent or more of a summer scent. If its more of a summer scent, is there any good frugal scents for F/W you'd recommend?

u/bookishboy · 1 pointr/fragrance

I've seen this as cheap as $6 on Amazon:

The packaging is cheap as hell, and it doesn't last super long, but it's a nice fresh clean lavender scent. Rumored to be the go-to aftershave of Frank Sinatra. It has a shower gel flanker that's also nice.

u/Diego_Poop · 3 pointsr/malefashionadvice

This is great advice. I think my best bet really would be to go out and do some on-site research. Although, I did find this: 3.4oz Nautica Voyage $58 $15.63+shipping

Edit: After reading the reviews on Amazon, turns out it is indeed a counterfeit.

u/Yokisan · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

I think one should have a preferred cologne - find what scent matches the aura you're trying to project - but limit it's use. I like to keep
D & G The One gentleman for typical nights out with the gents. And Terre D'Hermes perhaps on a date.

I figure clothes catch her attention, subtle scents can seal the deal.

B*tches loves subtly (I kid, I kid!)

This seems like the product for you, 10$ for a bottle that will last you a good amount of time and has amazing reviews!

u/nyan_kitty1024 · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

delicious

Since I'm big into fragrances/perfumes/colognes, I'll go off about that.

This is a fragrance that is very heavily orange that becomes woody eventually(on my skin). The Orange here is a very sharp and bitter orange, with a bit of Vetiver, which makes it a very earthy/dirty orange. It's fantastic for those really rainy days, since the smell of it meshes wonderfully with that rainy/humid smell.

This smells similar to orange hard candy when I smelt it. I've only worn it once, so I can't say much about it. Just sweet and orange ish :P

That's really the only two orange type smells that come to mind right now :P

u/bhindi-man · 2 pointsr/fragrance

You may try some from the house of Armaf like Club De Nuit Intense Man or from the house of Cuba like Variety By Cuba For Men. Both are value for money houses with excellent offerings at lower prices.

u/MrBaconPie · 1 pointr/The_Donald

If anyone is curious, it smells really nice! It's light and fresh, not cheap smelling at all!

You can purchase it from Amazon in the US; http://www.amazon.com/Trump-Success-Toilette-Spray-Fluid/dp/B007OYXCTQ

Lacoste Essential is my goto cologne. It's pretty subtle, but smells awesome.

u/meridian55 · 1 pointr/OkCupid

Nautica Voyage

Some guy I used to know was obsessed with colognes and he said this got the best reaction from women of the 20+ he owned. $12 a bottle and I women do seem to love it.

https://www.amazon.com/Nautica-Voyage-Men-Toilette-Spray/dp/B000P22TIY

u/blackdoglicorice · 3 pointsr/malefashionadvice

My daily go-to lately has been Nautica Voyage. It has a nice clean scent and just smells nice without being overbearing or anything. It's also very affordable compared to a lot of other colognes out there.

I am looking to pick up a cologne. Had my eye on this:
https://www.amazon.com/Christian-Dior-Homme-Intense-Parfum/dp/B001SK2FEU?th=1

When is the best time to pick something like this up? Thanks

u/shoeboxchild · 0 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I actually wear this (19 M in college) and have gotten A LOT of compliments on it. Also it's fairly cheap so it's absolutely amazing for me.

Ya, but there are plenty of great fragrances under $50: Kenneth Cole Black, $30 | Grey Flannel, $20 | Nautica Voyage, $20

Just to name a few. There are plenty more (and the Black is a personal favorite).

u/GregZilber · 3 pointsr/fragrance

If all you can do is under $30 then here’s a recommendation (that montblanc can’t hold a garbage-chemical lit fire to)

Recommendation #1: clone of Creed Aventus
Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man

https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Armaf/Club-de-Nuit-Intense-Man-34696.html

https://www.amazon.com/Armaf-Club-Nuit-Intense-Man/dp/B00M3IFUMK

Recommendation #2: Clone of Creed Green Irish Tweed

https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Armaf/Tres-Nuit-27711.html

https://www.fragrancenet.com/cologne/armaf/armaf-tres-nuit/edt#303982

If you want to get your boyfriend a fantastic. Fragrance that’s natural, deep, complex, unique: check out the fragrance house: Amouage. You can buy them on fragrancenet for a deep discount but they’re good enough to warrant their MSRP.

u/ISaidNoDecaf · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

I second YSL's La Nuit de L'Homme. I picked up a bottle from Amazon a few months ago, and it's pretty much my go-to night fragrance. It's got a spicy/lavender smell to it, and it's a pretty consistent compliment-getter.

u/SAIUN666 · 1 pointr/AskMen

If you find any of those Cuba fragrances they're only like $6 and absolutely worth it. Don't be put off by the tacky presentation (bottles are shaped like 'cuban' cigars). Or grab this 4 pack off Amazon.

u/git_PushPull · 1 pointr/steroids

Knock off Creed Aventus

You’re welcome. I get sooooo many compliments.

Physically clean with Florida Water. Psychically clean with Vesta Powder. Use the Vesta powder thus.

u/HurkyJerkyDancer · 1 pointr/malefashionadvice

You piqued my interest. How long does this stuff last compared to conventional, liquid colognes? At $22.00, I'll just order it blind.

OP, if you're a cheap ass like myself, drugstore aftershaves are great for day-to-day scents, imo. I usually wear Pinaud-Clubman. Some say it's "old man smell" but I think it's classic. I also like Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood as a cheaper option.

u/RiseiK · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

What kind of notes are you looking for in a scent? What price point? I like Terre D'Hermes by Hermes for Men. It has nice spice and notes for those late summer evenings. https://smile.amazon.com/Terre-DHermes-Hermes-Men-Ounce/dp/B000JLEZW4/ref=sr_1_2_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1496810166&sr=8-2&keywords=terre%2Bd%27hermes&th=1

Nautica Voyage

Costs $18 on Amazon and it's $80 in the mall. Smells fucking amazing, I have it.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/malefashionadvice

Inexpensive, okay smell, horrible longevity and projection.

Not recommended at all. You can get a 3.3 oz bottle of Nautica Voyage for not much more if you want a nice aquatic cologne with great longevity and dry down.

u/RollTide09 · 1 pointr/wicked_edge

I’d recommend this as the best clone of Aventus to pair with it.

I have real Aventus and I’d say this gets 90% of the way there for a fraction of the price.

Sauvage is good but you smell it everywhere and people seem to overspray it.

u/nerdpox · 28 pointsr/Frat

Check out Perry Ellis 360 Red if you're a fan of AdG. It's almost identical scent wise. And lasts longer than AdG on my skin. It's also much less expensive.

Nautica Voyage

Awesome. Long lasting. Reasonable price.

u/StellaMaroo · 29 pointsr/AskReddit

I had a boyfriend who wore Acqua Di Gio and I always thought he smelled awesome.

u/alwaysrevelvant · 2 pointsr/frugalmalefashion

Actually...

I'm not sure TDH is what OP would be looking for however. While it does remind me of a forest and wood, there is a hint of sweetness brought in as well. Sample it at Nordstroms or Sephora first, then make your call OP.

u/HarryHungwell · 1 pointr/fragrance

By sold directly from Amazon I assume you mean pretty much any item that is prime eligible? For instance would this be fine:

https://www.amazon.com/BURBERRY-London-Men-Eau-Toilette/dp/B00DKMY8JY

u/Clintonon · 1 pointr/AskReddit

I get Polo Black and Ralph Lauren Big Pony #1 I'd go to a fragrance section of a store like Dillard's/Macy's or something and get some whiffs of the Big Pony Collection, they have some good stuff.

You could also check out: Gio or something from the Diesel Collection

Really, what I'd do and what I have done is ask the lady at the counter what she thinks. If she's hot I normally listen but they probably just are saying what ever to sell me shit.

If you're low on cash ("good" cologne is usually $60-$70) just go to American Eagle or Rue 21 if you're around any. Big clothing chains have their own cologne brands and they smell pretty good and around $20

Aw yes. I have Cuba Black, Orange, Blue, and Red. (I had Gold and I have no idea what happened to it... grump). You can get a set of four for ten dollars, and if you don't like them on you, you can always use them as room sprays or something. I'm big into all of them. Black and Red are definitely winter scents, though.

Armaf Club de Nuit Intense Man

Looks like the price has gone up a few dollars ($30 now instead of $25) but it's still dirt cheap as far as frags go. The price fluctuates for some reason, not sure why.

u/pageplantzoso · 2 pointsr/fragranceswap

Just so you know, La Nuit is 55 on Amazon and 50 on ebay. Though you might have paid 70 for it, no one will swap for that amount. I'm also assuming you have the 3.3 bottle and not the big 6.7 oz bottle which is running almost 90 on ebay.
