For home I just use the Multi-mode MM ( UF-MM-1G ) since its cheaper for regular SFP (not the +) ports. Then for cables on something like Amazon get some OM1 Multi-mode Duplex Fiber Optic Cable (62.5/125) - LC to LC

I'm assuming you just want to play with fiber so with that, pick up a couple of SFP fiber transceivers and some simple fiber with LC connectors. Something like this:

• TRENDnet Gigabit SFP LC Module, Multi-Mode, TEG-MGBSX. You need one for each end of a fiber cable.
  
• 1 Meter Multimode Duplex Fiber Optic Cable (62.5/125) - LC to LC - Orange. Many lengths available, use them just like ethernet cables between devices.
  
• Some SFP PCI-e NIC card for the R510. I'm guessing something like this 10Gtek Intel 82576 Chip Gigabit Ethernet Converged Network Adapter(NIC), Dual SFP Ports, PCI Express 2.0 X4, Same as E1G42EF. Someone else might know if that model works with the 510.
  
  This is still only going to give you gigabit speed as that is all those switches can do, but you can play with the fiber. It will be just like using a normal ethernet cable but more expensive. For future stuff you can upgrade the fiber to OM4 for 10G and SFP to SFP+ also for 10G, but that will need a new switch as well as NIC.

You'd need 1G 850nm SFPs on both sides, (10G to 1G will not work) and a 1M LC to LC Multimode cable:

Not really sure if an SFP adapter will work in that SFP+ port
