Sadly, this is pretty standard for most cheaper purses. Almost every faux leather purse I've bought has strap problems within the first year.

That said, Amazon has some excellent replacement straps you can buy. I picked up these and they are super sturdy and have survived so much longer than the original straps one of my purses had.
