If you think you are motivated to teach yourself, check out A Player's Guide to Chords and Harmony I would find a decent teacher or music school friend. These people can probably pack 2 years of University theory into a couple months, for thousands of dollars less. Watching videos on youtube only goes so far to getting any depth. The education videos on theory that are actually inspiring are few and far. Grasping intervals, diatonicism, triads, upper structure chords, etc.. takes basically teaching you the names of a bunch of sounds your ears have been exposed to by Western Music.
