I'd definitely go with a new computer lol.
If you want to go the laptop route, a Lenovo ThinkPad L420 might do.
I am selling one for $125 (OBO).I believe it should be able to beat the Gateway. I can test whatever (free) games needed to make sure.If you're thinking about a new laptop that has a little more umph, I'd maybe recommend an Acer Aspire 3. At just $270, you'll have a little left over for a good gaming mouse.
If you're willing to raise the budget to a hefty $400, the IOZ Tech Custom Gaming System will rock your world with a 3.5GHz Ryzen 2200G 12-Core Processor, 8GB RAM and a 240GB SSD, you'll be speeding around in GMOD in no time. It says you can roll with Apex Legends at frame rates as high as 30FPS.
If you want to raise the price well over $300 again, maybe this part list will work for/$450 if you're willing to assemble it yourself. Although this doesn't really seem much different where you couldn't just get this(listed above).
