I'd recommend the newer version of that laptop instead, with better specs for the same price: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Display-i5-8265U-GeForce-A515-54G-5928/dp/B07TJ21K7T/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=mx250&qid=1571888392&sr=8-1

You get an i5-8265U, an MX250 GPU, 8GB ram, and a 512 GB SSD, which is pretty good for $649. It also weighs just 3.97 lbs.

Approaches from behind and steal the last 5 hairs

Joking aside I would recommend either this Acer Aspire 5 because of the following:

  • It comes with a great deal because of black friday.
  • It offers great value for money since it comes with 8 GB RAM and 256GB SSD and both are somewhat standards in 600 range so finding them on 500~ range is somewhat a catch.
  • Slim, sleek high-quality case and the aluminum lid gives the Aspire a premium look.
  • You can actually rotate the lid back a little beyond 180 degrees, meaning you can lay the laptop completely flat with the lid open.
  • It is lightweight for its size at 3.97 lbs

  • Comes with backlit keyboard, you also get a dedicated numeric keypad with a somewhat narrow design.
  • Battery life advertised Up to 7.5-hours Battery Life.

  • Comes with a range of ports, including HDMI, USB 3.1 & USB 2.0.

  • you can upgrade SSD and RAM up to 20GB according to this

And if you can push your budget higher, this would be a better option because of the following:

  • It over great value for money since it comes with 8 GB RAM and 512GB SSD.
  • It comes with 8th Gen, i5 quad core CPU.
  • Slim, sleek.

  • the lid of the device has a matte finish on its aluminum material. On the other side, the plastic material on the rest of the chassis is retained.
  • its lid cannot be opened with a single hand. On the bright side, it is sturdy and prone to flexes. Moreover, we see an upgrade in the hinge department that leaves them a lot stronger than before.
*The narrow-bezel design offers more real estate for amazing images. Crisp, true-to-life colors come alive on a 15.6” Full HD IPS display with Acer Color Intelligence.

  • Battery life advertised Up to 9.5-hours Battery Life.
  • you can upgrade RAM up to 12GB.

  • Comes with a range of ports, including USB 3.1 Type C Gen 1 port, 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, USB 2.0 port and HDMI port.

  • comes with NVIDIA GeForce MX250 GPU, and you can check the performance from this link

If you can stretch you budget a bit, I'd suggest the MSI PS63. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WLVXPYP

Its an older model hence the discount, but it packs an i7 with a 1050ti.

If thats too much then take a look at this Aspire 5. Its much more of a budget laptop but it comes with an i5 and an entry level MX250 dGPU. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TJ21K7T

If going without it is okay, the Acer Aspire 5 is a very solid option. You get a dedicated graphics card, which should help with light gaming.

I had actually been looking at this version of the Acer Aspire 5 that's $50 cheaper. It looks like the only difference is the processor. I have to be honest, I don't know much about this stuff. What's the difference between Intel Core i5-8265U vs Core i5-10210U? Is it big enough of a difference for the $50?

I think the Acer Aspire slim should be a good option, it's fairly light at 3.97 Lbs. with a FHD IPS screen, a Quad core CPU and an MX 250 GPU .
