Getting really close, I got one of them for a recent trip and it works great for VR on the go :)

I'm anxious I'm on an Apple TV so that might be bad for the help! https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-Nitro-GeForce-VN7-593G-73KV/dp/B01N35Z1DA/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1495748033&sr=1-1&keywords=nitro+1060 It isn't a government in a corner OF spot a la Adam Frazier.

You are on the right track with those two you mentioned; exactly the two I would have thrown out to you if you are running away from the gaming appearance. The XPS has a little better display than this NITRO but the Nitro has a much better graphics card which is crucial in especially high level CAD tasks...The Nitro also has a bigger storage.

u/LonerIM2 · 4 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

Since you are looking for few hours of non gaming usage I would recommend this acer aspire V 15 because it comes with everything you need , i7 quad core CPU which is one of the best in the market and great for your usage, 16 GB of ram for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 256 GB for faster boot up and loading, 1 TB of HDD for storage, Full HD screen which is a must have for this price range, high build quality, very good heat management, above average battery life for a gaming laptop (4.5 to 6 hours with light to medium usage), 1060 GPU that should be able to handle the games you mentioned on high settings with very good FPs, and it is within your budget.

u/edit1754 · 4 pointsr/laptopgaming

If you want the best game performance for the price, these are slightly over but probably the best value, with the 6GB GTX 1060 and also IPS / 72% NTSC displays.

u/by_a_pyre_light · 3 pointsr/laptops

The Acer Triton 300 is the cheapest laptop you can get with a full 6GB GTX 1060 graphics card in it right now, at ~$1,049. That will max out all the games you listed without issue.

ASUS's GL502VM is also the same price on sale right now, and is sleeker and I believe thinner. Looks a bit nicer too, IMHO. I had two of the ASUS GL502VS last year, which are the slightly thicker versions with the GTX 1070.

Overall, a good, solid portable gaming laptop but with Gsync battery life was crap, so keep that in mind.

If you want to step up a little bit, I'd highly recommend the Acer Aspire Nitro 15" because it looks like a business laptop, not some gaming eyesore. That means you can take it to school, work, the library, coffee shops, etc. without people judging you. Plus, it starts at $1,299 so it's not much more expensive.

Beyond that, you go up in price a bit for laptops with more metal in their builds and sleeker, thinner, lighter chassis. All of the laptops I've mentioned so far are between 5.5 and nearly 8 pounds. Not the worst thing, but noticeably heavier than thin and light ones in daily use.

Start with the new Sager NP8950, which is well under an inch thick and packs the same specs as the other laptops mentioned, in a plastic and thin metal chassis. It also has a 3 or 4 zone RGB keyboard, which some people love. At $1,499 it's right at the edge of your budget, but the thinness, weight reductions, sleeker design, better building materials, included RGB-lite keyboard, and expandable storage and RAM options make it worth it, IMO.

From there, things quickly go outside of your budget with the MSI GS63VR, Gigabyte P35 and Aero 14/15, Razer Blade, etc.

What about this?

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-Gaming-GeForce-VN7-593G-73KV/dp/B01N35Z1DA This is my vote. I have the ACER Predator Helios 300 and love it (it was on sale for quite a bit, and had similar specs to this) but the Acer looks professional and not like a gaming laptop, which I hate about the Helios 300.

Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro Black Edition

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N35Z1DA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_5eDezb3DGYB6X

This is what I have, ive been using it for about a month now and it's amazing. it's one of the cheaper laptops compared to those with the same specs if you're looking to save money. It runs a little hot out the box when playing heavy games but after undervolting my CPU it doesn't get hotter than 80°.

u/snobbycookies · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

Ha, that is the exact configuration I was looking at as well - 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, and the GTX 1060. Thanks for the tip about the displays.

So I guess in that $1300 price point, which outweighs the other? The P650 or the Acer? (link to Acer: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N35Z1DA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_dp_T1_t36CzbDH4NKZ0)

u/1000000100000 · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

Would the pavilion run CAD fine? With regular use how long do you think before it would see a decline in performance? I'm an EE major looking for something to last 4+ yrs.

Also, what is your opinion on this vs. this at the same price?

u/LeFear11 · 1 pointr/laptops

Found this on Amazon as the above link doesn't ship globally: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N35Z1DA/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1503078296&sr=8-8&refinements=p_n_shipping_option-bin%3A3242350011&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=Gtx+1060+laptop&dpPl=1&dpID=51jejzOZYQL&ref=plSrch

It seems to be similar but once again alot of the reviews state they had to return their models and some had issues of thermals, others battery life and fan noise. Since I'm going to ship this abroad, I don't think I'll be able to return it if any issue arises. Is the risk worth it or should I go for another safer option? The legion I can get in my home country but the gigabyte or acer or any other laptop I'll have to ship.

Hello,

I think the Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition (1274$) would be a great choice.

  • 15.6" FHD IPS Screen
  • Intel Core i7-7700HQ Processor 2.80GHz
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 VR Ready
  • 16GB DDR4-2400 RAM
  • 256GB M.2 SSD + 1TB HDD
  • 6hrs battery life / 0.98inch thin

You'll get a powerful laptop packed in a thin sleek and professional looking chassis. The GTX 1060 will handle any game you'll throw at it with decent frames. You'll also have plenty of storage and an excellent screen with 300nits of brightness and 85% sRGB color gamut.

If price is really important to you, I'd suggest going for the Acer Predator. The only problem is that it looks like Megatron's offspring but that is pretty much the only drawback. Otherwise great battery life, cooling, everything else you could ask for from a budget gaming laptop. Obviously doesn't have a premium build so don't expect the durability to be exceptional.

Here is one at $1050 from amazon

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-Processor-Graphics-G3-571-77QK/dp/B06Y4GZS9C/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1502640464&sr=1-2&keywords=acer+predator+helios+300

I was looking for a gaming laptop myself. Mine is a Clevo with a gtx 1060 but is really slim and light compared to most of the other gaming laptops at 18.6mm and less than 5 pounds. But the cooling naturally isn't great since it is pretty slim. It costs about $1400 depending on customization. If you want your gaming laptop to look subtle, here is a link to that as well.

https://lpc-digital.com/product/sager-np8950-clevo-p950hp6/

Here is another one that looks subtle. Weighs at a bit more than 5 pounds and stands at about an inch, but it has a really good battery life.

I was going to show you this: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-Gaming-GeForce-VN7-593G-73KV/dp/B01N35Z1DA Since I own it and absolutely love it, but it's a tad bit too heavy at 2.4KG. Other than that, it hits everything else: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB of dedicated GDDR5 VRAM, Intel Core i7-7700H, 256GB SSD (You can upgrade this with the money you had left), Thunderbolt port ( 4 lanes, eGPU possible ), 88% RGB, 15.6 display, and 16GB ram that's upgradable (but 16 is good as it is). Plus, at the price of 1,200 with free shipping is hard to beat. But, that's if you're willing to ignore the bit of extra weight.

u/AsirK · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

If you're willing to spend a bit more. I recommend the Acer Aspire V15 Nitro.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-Nitro-GeForce-VN7-593G-73KV/dp/B01N35Z1DA/

As for gaming settings, with a GTX 1060, you'll be able to run most games on relatively high settings.

u/Emptysighsandwine · 1 pointr/soccer

Been at my job for 7 weeks now and I absolutely love it. I've done volunteer work experience that were way worse than this so it's amazing that I'm getting paid and enjoying it!

Anyone on here able to advice me to whether this is a good deal for a laptop with those specs? https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-Nitro-GeForce-VN7-593G-73KV/dp/B01N35Z1DA

Last thing. Fuck apple. This latest update has made my phone near unusable.

u/elvinelmo · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

A laptop like the Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro is a good one as its not too heavy and it has the power to run AAA games and get 60 fps on ultra so getting 120 fps on medium for Dota and CSGO will be doable. It has a neutral look and a strong build quality as well. It has a fast boot time due to the SSD and it has a nice IPS scree for wide viewing angles

It was this one:
Acer Aspire V Nitro

It's been working great so far. I think for the price it's not bad at all for what I got. Definitely don't care for the trackpad but, I never use those lol. I haven't installed Steam on it yet because I know if I do my study time will be wasted. So no idea about "Ultra" settings or not.

Edit: I got one that's refurbished from Newegg, but then added the Extra warranty so it made it the same price as new. But the warranty covers spills, accidents, etc.

Hi, Ibuypower is running a stealth pro sale, it has a 1080p screen, I7-6700hq, gtx 1060 6gb, and starts at $1300. I know the chassy is fully "alloy" but I have no idea about the build quality specifically.

its lightweight, has a thunderbolt port, and also a sata 3 256gb ssd
edit: the acer has been said to not have the best build quality though.
although I would like to know other laptops in this range.

u/Michiganders · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

I think your best option would probably be the Acer V15 Nitro which is currently on sale for $1180. It will have quite a bit more power with a GTX 1060 dGPU, a quad core i7 processor, and 16gb of ram. It has an alright battery (advertised up to 6 hours), and a moderate weight at 5.5 lbs. However it still maintains a pretty sleek exterior and avoids any red accents (except the backlighting on the keyboard which is red). You can also find a model with a 256gb SSD in addition to a 1TB HDD for $1300.

You could also look into the Eluktronics N850 for $1250 which has similar specs with a Kaby Lake i7-7700HQ processor, 16gb of ram, 256gb SSD and a GTX 1060 dGPU. It avoids red accents as well, and has a customizable backlit keyboard that you can just set to white. It weighs a bit more at 5.9 lbs though. It also has another storage slot to add a 1TB HDD if you choose to do so in the future.

Otherwise if you're fine with a GTX 1050, you could look into either a Dell xps 15 which will run you at the top of your budget, or the cheaper Asus Vivobook for around $1000.

u/Kart0410 · 1 pointr/laptops

take a look at acer V15 nitro or V17 nitro they are pretty good and are not as bulky and gamer looking like the acer helios 300 plus it even has a 256 GB ssd in addition to the 1000 GB hdd

u/flaminghero122 · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

Hey, I'm also looking for a high end gaming laptop with a decent enough battery for regular use (6 hours+) as I'm heading to college too.

The Gigabyte P35xv6 is very sleeper. I see no mention of it on this forum despite its thinness, weight, fantastic price, and battery life (due to Optimus) while having a GTX 1070. The only real complaints about it is that it doesn't have Gsync or a refresh rate higher than 60hz, and its poor cooling with temps reaching in the high 80s during gaming. However, you can easily undervolt or repaste the CPU to get decent temps.

https://m.newegg.com/products/N82E16834233208

If you are deterred by it, here is another good option, the Acer Nitro V15 Black Edition, which fits your criteria and is only 1299$, but has a GTX 1060, which is expected for that price but can still run nearly every modern game at 1080p 60 fps on high settings. However it also has cooling issues like the P35xv6 but you can still undervolt and repaste.

Sorry for the late reply.

Out of these 3 - Clevo, Acer and Dell 7567 (I can wait a bit for the Dell to come to Europe with IPS dispaly), which one would you (and others) recommend?
Also is there any big difference if I wait a month or two for any better looking models or better price-specs coming out/to Europe?

I would really like something that looks a bit more stylish (like the Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro Black Edition, except the 1060 GPU makes the price go too high for me atm), and I would be happy to wait for such a model if its coming?

Also what do you guys think about these 2:

Eluktronics P650HP6

Aspire VX 15 Gaming Laptop

Both seem to come around 1000 GBP after shipping fees

I think the Lenovo Yoga 720 offers the best specs for the money if you don't mind à 2-in-1

  • Intel Core i7-7700HQ 2.80GHz
  • 15.6"
  • 4k screen (3840x2160)
  • 16GB RAM DDR4
  • 512GB SSD
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050
  • Windows 10 Home 64-Bit
  • 9 hours battery life
  • 4.4 lbs

It also has a USB-C with Thunderbolt 3 and the RAM and storage are upgradable.

Alternatively, you could check out the Acer Aspire V 15 Nitro for a cheaper alternative. I don't think it is offer with a 4K panel, but it has a better GPU (GeForce GTX 1060)

The MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro is also great, has it packs a GTX 1060 and as a 4K display, but is battery life is a lot smaller (with 3.5h of normal use). However, I couldn't find the one with the 4K panel and the CPU i7-7700HQ outside of canadian stores (and it adds up to ~1750$US)

After doing some additional research, I'm between the Predator laptop that you mentioned and the Acer Aspire V15 Nitro. Which one would you recommend?

u/Uridiawt · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

I am looking for basically the same things as you with a similar but slightly smaller budget - Heres some interesting ones I like.

Its a couple hundred over your budget but the Gigabyte Aero looks amazing, youtuber reviewers all seem to love it, It looks professional and not these over the top gamer laptops that I hate as well, it has a GTX1060 for gaming, it has almost no bezels which makes it lok amazing. Its over my budget by about $400 but I'm still considering getting it.

Bonus it has a very good battery, and is very thin and portabl easier for work and has the SD card reader you mentioned.

They also have a 14" version that is only about $100 over your budget with the same design and specs, except for it has larger Bezels on this verison.

https://www.amazon.com/GIGABYTE-Aero-15W-BK4-i7-7700HQ-GeForce/dp/B07141QMKD

Also there is this ASUS FX502 - Got the gamign specs and again its more professional looking, really toned down on "GAMERZ! look" I I have heard confliccting reports about its thermals so I would look more in to that if you like it.
