Oh boy, as someone who used to play PC games exclusively on laptops I have some advice for you: get the cheapest one you can since gaming laptops tend to get quite hot over time and since they aren't modular like PCs won't last many years (1-3). So, for instance, for you, the GTX 1050 sounds like it will meet your FFXIV gaming needs so look for something like this.

To get the most out of your budget, the Acer Aspire VX15 for $800 is a powerful machine for the price. Its a great gaming laptop with an IPS display and GTX 1050 dGPU, and at 15.6" would be a good size for you. Inside it has an Intel Quad core i5-7300HQ processor, 8gb of ram, and a 256gb SSD. The display is a 1080p IPS display, weighing 5.5 lbs, with a 6 hr advertised battery life. It has a backlit keyboard as well.

u/jhalls13 · 4 pointsr/buildapc

Yeah it has an integrated graphics GPU. I would try to find something with a 1050 or cheaper but still okish is the 960m. Anything below that I wouldn't mess with.

There is a 1050

u/LonerIM2 · 3 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

I agree that this is a great choice but since your budget allows it I would actually recommend this configuration for a little over a 100 more you get double the ram and 1050Ti instead of 1050 which is a more powerful GPU which means better gaming performance.

In your budget and based on what you are looking for, this Acer VX 15 Laptop would definitely do the job for you... It has a powerful quad core i5 processor, 8 GB RAM, fast SSD and a decent gtx 1050 dedicated graphics card...It will do a great job at coding and running those games..Does have a backlit keyboard, a decent battery life and decent overal build quality.

Clevo N855HJ w/ IPS panel - $844

u/Orangematz · 3 pointsr/laptops

How about this?

u/sniper344 · 3 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

Grammar_N-N-N-Nazi just below your budget radar. The Acer Aspire VX 15 laptop is perfect for you. A 15inch 1080p widescreen IPS display with a 7th Gen Intel Core i5-7300HQ processor is great of some software and programming work . Looking at the gaming graphics, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 has what it takes to play the latest games that you will desire, 8GB DDR4 ram which is up gradable and 256GB SSD storage. (1) USB 3.1 Type-C port, (2) USB 3.0 ports, (1) USB 2.0 port, (1) HDMI and the battery life goes up to 6 hours, great for you in my eyes :-).

u/elvinelmo · 3 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

How professional would you like the laptop to be as in terms of value for money the Acer Aspire VX 15 is the best one out there at this price point as it features

  • 7th Gen Intel Core i5,
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050,
  • 15.6 Full HD,
  • 8GB DDR4,
  • 256GB SSD

and an IPS display for wide viewing angles. If you want a more professional look take a look at the Lenovo Legion Y520

  • Intel Core i5-7300HQ
  • Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
  • 8GB
  • 256GB
  • IPS display

This is a more professional looking laptop but it has slightly weaker specs, but its still a good value
u/ahrhamza · 2 pointsr/battlefield_one

How much is your budget? If you could spend maybe till $850, check out the Dell Inspiron 15 or the Acer VX 15. Both have decent specs and you can run Battlefield at high settings with around 50ish fps.

Acer VX 15

Dell inspiron 15

Both have options you can choose depending on what you want and how much you're looking to spend.

Get Acer VX 15 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N11JKA3?ie=UTF8
i5-7300HQ
8GB RAM
256GB SSD
Windows 10 OS
15.6 inch FHD display
4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 GPU
backlit keyboard
That's the best specs you can get under $800

u/SaneBRZ · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

The HP Envy 13.3 is certainly not a gaming laptop. It's a thin and light laptop, without dedicated GPU. It will run games like Overwatch, but only on lower settings. And it will really struggle with H1Z1.

If you want a laptop for gaming and don't want to spend more than $750, then the Lenovo above would be the most powerful you can get. Other alternatives also come with an i5 quad core, but have a slightly weaker GTX 1050 (and these are the specs you should look out for, i5 quad core + Nvidia GTX 1050/1050 Ti).

Acer Aspire 15.6" FHD Gaming Notebook (Intel Core i5-7300HQ, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD) Wind... https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01N11JKA3/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_c_api_mwBozbV8CQMXJ

u/Elruflon22 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I recommend this for a cheaper and better (has IPS and a GTX 1050) specced laptop, or this for the same price as what you were thinking of buying but better than the other one (GTX 1050 Ti). The downside is the storage, only a 256GB SSD is with it, can always add an HDD though.

Well guess what I'm searching exactly the same thing. I've already searched some ideas and I found (link for specs included):

Currently living in my car. So that's a bit of a challenge. If I could splurge and get a loan on some extra cash or maybe set up a payment plan. Would https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N11JKA3/ref=mp_s_a_1_35?ie=UTF8&qid=1503223578&sr=8-35&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=Acer%2Blaptop&dpPl=1&dpID=51LptbJAClL&ref=plSrch&th=1&psc=1
Be reasonably worth the investment?

u/sonicgamingftw · 1 pointr/laptops

I've also been asking around on other forums and some people have recommended me something like the [VX 15] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01N11JKA3/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1493652389&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=acer+vx15&dpPl=1&dpID=51LptbJAClL&ref=plSrch) and it looks really really good, and new, for the price. Might anyone have any input on if this is overkill or like if its cheap or something?

u/trainedtech88 · 1 pointr/UltraBooks

with that budget you wont get an ultrabook that will run those games smoothly. a suitable choice would easily be this Acer Aspire VX 15 Gaming Laptop but then its heavy and only comes with a 256 gb ssd. i also found this Acer Aspire R 14 which is a great deal within budget but with the games you intend to play you might have hiccups using this laptop. there is also this Acer Aspire R 15 which ticks all your boxes except the size and it is outside your weight restriction. it would be a good choice as well due to the fact that it does have a dedicated 940mx gpu that would be great for playing those games in low-medium settings.

How does this compare to https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N11JKA3?ie=UTF8

Thanks again!

u/Reydiance · 1 pointr/laptops

How about the Acer VX15

The Asus is known to have a poor TN display. This one has an IPS display and a SSD.

u/jdb12 · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

I like the Acer Aspire VX 15, but is there anything I need to know about it?

I like that it has expandable storage and decent graphics (and love the $800 price tag), but is it worth upgrading to the Lenovo Y520?

I saw these in the wiki, is there a better option for the price? $800 seems too good to be true for what I want in terms of gaming.

Good price and great specs here

u/henryyang713 · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

No worries, thank you so much for the help. One more question if you don't mind. I'm actually looking at 2 different laptops right now and I'm not sure if they will be able to run Premiere Pro smoothly. Could you please offer your thoughts? (they might be the same laptop...)

Ah man that sucks...try and see if any companies do international shipping? For example, some products on amazon ship internationally but I am not sure how much they charge to do so. Doing a quick search showed me this, although with the $799 USD price tag and additional 194 shipping and import fees the price goes up to $1000 USD.

I've found this laptop, and I'mreally impressed with it. My only problem is that I don't know if it comes with Microsoft office.

I also like this laptop, but I've been told that Microsoft office doesn't come with it.

Hi,

I think these are your best options: noteb search results.

I've search for laptops with IPS displays. There are a few laptops for under $800 which have good specs but have low quality displays.

You could get something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-Gaming-GeForce-VX5-591G-5652/dp/B01N11JKA3/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1498591091&sr=1-1&keywords=Acer+Aspire+GTx+1050

An SSD doesn't matter for gaming except in load times. It basically just makes everything in normal use run faster due to its electronic storage is faster than mechanical (hard drive). Honestly with the new cards out I wouldn't say it's reasonable because it's gonna really hold you back with future games. Here is one I found though
