Honestly just look for quad core CPU or better, 8+ GB of RAM (you can upgrade more later) and a 4 GB GPU or better (1050, 1050 ti, etc), and a 256GB + SSD (preferably nvme or pcie)
I like my Acer Nitro 5. Battery life is pretty good, although I have mine plugged in most of the time. It gets a bit hot when playing more demanding games, so a cooling pad is recommended. All around it's a good upgradable laptop for the price (bought mine recertified and it was basically brand new).
