If you want to go all out you can look at a laptop like the Acer Predator 17 with a more powerful GPU
The [acer predator 17"] (https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-Gaming-GeForce-G9-793-79V5/dp/B01N6S4A2U/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1527043437&sr=1-3&keywords=gaming+laptop+gtx+1070) Gaming laptop comes with a GTX 1070 graphics card. Besides it's graphics card, it a great overall gaming laptop. It's audio quality is wonderful considering that you would be using it for music.
Hey, here's 3 in your range.

I appreciate the detailed response. I'm definitely going to keep searching for something that sticks out for me with a 1070. Particularly I was looking at:

Well I think most 17.3 inch gaming laptop will have that feeling, but if you want to check other good options there is this acer Predator 17 and the Eluktronics Pro-X.
You think it would be worth it to sacrifice screen refresh for thunderbolt 3? Acer 17 or Acer 15
> will have desktop grade CPU/GPU where the laptop obviously will not
There's actually not much of a difference between Nvidia Desktop GPUs and mobile GPU's anymore. The mobile 1060 performs within 10% of a desktop one.

Something like this is honestly great for mobile PUBG:

7700 + 1070 w/ G-Sync on a 17" screen. There's also the cheaper 1060 version.
Here's a benchmark video of a 7700HQ + 1060 playing PUBG:

They're playing at Ultra settings and on an older version of the game than what exists currently, but honestly just turning shadows to low may let you get a consistent, easy 60 fps.
What predator 17 are you looking at, the one I saw has a freakin 1070 paired with a 7700hq.
You're definitely seeing some older model. There's one on Amazon for 1600 usd with the specs i just mentioned.

ahora todo el gasto.. te coviene mandarselo a alguien que vaya, te lo traiga, gg aduana
If your fine with spending a little more and don't mind the "gamer aesthetic" this one is much better for the price.

Lenovo Legion Y7000
Got this laptop some months ago and it runs fine with games like Witcher 3 on low, elite dangerous on medium, and Warframe on high. I think the mobile 1060 would fit your needs. If not then something like Acer Predator 17 with a mobile 1070 would do. From Amazon
I suggest you do some research before you buy though just to be sure the laptop is right for you. I might be linking you to pricey stuff since it was me doing surface level searching.
Edit: Walmart Overpowered brand is also good to look out for too. You get more bang for your buck but it’s Walmart.
Hello, I posted a request for a suggestion, but got no replies. I'm torn between the Eluktronics, HP OMEN X, and the Acer Predator 17. I'm leaning toward the Predator because of the lower price point and SSD+HDD. They all have similar specs and the prices are close, which one is the best purchase? Is there something better for in the ~$2000 range?
EDIT: Perhaps something with a GTX 1080?
EDIT 2: This appears to be the college thread, and I am more interested in gaming, my apologies. I'll x-post to the other thread if you need me to, please let me know.

Somehow that link on Bestbuy that link is dead.. For VR you will definitely need at least a GTX 1060 Graphics card as it is the lowest GPU that supports VR. I was also going to recommend one of the laptops with the new 8th 6 core processors, but at that price range you are only going to get ones with GTX 1060 gpu so I recommend you go with a 7th gen and a GTX 1070 Graphics card. Something like this Acer Predator 17 Gaming Laptop would do a very good job.. It definitely has the performance power you want in addition to a decent display, good build quality, excellent keyboard and importantly, manages heat well.
[Laptop] (https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GE72MVR-APACHE-PRO-044-i7-7700HQ/dp/B06XSBQZXR/ref=sr_1_9?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1501990011&sr=1-9&keywords=msi+gaming+laptop)Not the thinnest laptop, but its cheaper than your budget, has a GTX 1070, and an I7-7700k! It is about 30mm though, which for a gaming laptop, isn't too too bad. If you really need a slim laptop, I am guessing some of the razer laptops would be your better bet. If you want, unless you really need the gaming portability, you could get a basic razer blade stealth, then buy the razer core and add your own graphics card. Even better, just get a gaming desktop for 800-1000 (USD) and get the same performance, then spend your remaining budget on a laptop. This will give you FAR better bang for your buck. You could even get a 1000(USD) desktop with a good I5 or Ryzen and a 1070, then get a laptop with something like an MX150 for light(er) gaming on the go if need be. You can check out this video for more info on that and [here] (https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Blade-GeForce-Gaming-Laptop/dp/B01N4P5HKV/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1501989764&sr=8-7&keywords=gaming+laptop+razer) is probably the best option for that razer blade laptop. It's very thin (only 17mm for a gaming laptop!) and has a 1060. But the other one I showed you is cheaper, and has a better, well, everything. If you are willing to take a bit thicker laptop, you are going to get a way better performance, for a cheaper price as well.
