I wouldn't go for a 27" 1080p monitor since it won't be very sharp (24" is the sweet spot for 1080p). Go 1440p 144hz. I would reccomend the Dell S2716DGR as I have the 24" version of it (It is $150 off on bestbuy right now). Unlike what u/rtey31 said a 1070 is fine for 1440p 144hz aslong as you don't care about using ultra settings. I use a 1070 on my 1440p 144hz monitor. Vega is also another option though with a freesync monitor like the Acer XG270HU.

I have the exact same setup, let me break it down for you like this:

Star Wars BattleFront ULTRA settings in game:
1920 x 1080: 90-100 FPS
2560 x 1440: 60-70 FPS

I wish it ran it faster but it doesn't.
Playing games at 120+ fps is awesome, so you could get 1440p @ 144hz but on older games like counterstrike.

I went with this monitor below, got it for $200 and it keeps me happy for now.
Nixeus Vue 24" 1920x1080 144Hz, AMD FreeSync, 1ms, Adaptive-Sync 30Hz to 144Hz NX-VUE24A

I wish I got that red acer that user: c0horst got, but that would mean your games would run slower.

u/NuM_Brrr_WoN · 5 pointsr/Amd

Why not both 1440p and 144hz? You can sometimes find great deals on Acer re-certified monitors for $200-$300. This is what I used with my 390x: https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS

Link was just for quick reference.

u/HoboWithAGun · 4 pointsr/witcher

I have a TN monitor. Specifically this one:

https://www.amazon.ca/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FreeSync-Display/dp/B00VRCLHYS/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=2k+acer+monitor&qid=1565450850&s=gateway&sr=8-2

It looks fantastic. The only downside to TN panels is that they have a reduced viewing angle. Things get dark when you view it at a 30 degree angle, but I was never planning on having people watch my screen from an angle like that so it's not an issue.

u/dildologist · 3 pointsr/buildapc

>Ideally I would like a 1440p ips 144hz monitor but they are all so expensive as my budget is around 350 range.

This particular monitor goes on sale for ~$350 regularly. I got mine new for $350 last year. It is a TN panel but it is gorgeous.

27", 1440p, 144hz. Freesync won't benefit you since you're on a 1080, but the 1080 ought to be plenty capable.

u/freespace303 · 3 pointsr/Monitors

You sure you're not willing to consider 1440p? Because at your budget ($372 usd) 27" 1440p 144hz monitors can be had all day long. If not, I listed some 1080p monitors below as well.

Since you have an Nvidia card, My first choice for you would be the Dell Gsync S2716DGR, which goes on sale for less than $400 all the time. It's pretty much the only Gsync 27" for under $400 consistently. Keep an eye on /r/buildapcsales for the best deals.

After using 2 freesync and 2 gsync monitors, I can't go back. The elimination of stutter/tearing is completely worth it IMO. Framerate dips and spikes are smoothed over as well, making for a very consistant experience.

Also, here are a bunch of Freesync 27" 1440p 144hz choices to consider...

Pixio PX276 - $310/250€

Acer XG270HU - $350

G-Story GS27QR - $330

ASUS PB278Q - $353

Monoprice 124657 - $340

If you insist on sticking to 1080p, here are a few options, all 144hz

Pixio PX325c - 32" - $350

Viotek GN32C - 32"- $300

ViewSonic VX2758-C-MH - 27" - $250

Acer ED273 - 27" - $254

I also recommend checking these sites out, they both have comprehensive lists of the best gaming monitors out right now.

This one is 1440p, 27 inches, and 144hz. People are saying you can tune the colors because they're not the best out of box, but everyone has difference preference on color.

u/FailingChemist · 3 pointsr/meirl

FreeSync, nice! AMD guy. I got this. Been wondering about ultrawide.

u/whatdidshedo · 3 pointsr/buildapcsales

freesync if you can .. it's not much difference in price anyway , if you have compatible amd card , prices are going down, even acer XG270HU 1440P 144HZ FREESYNC IS $350 now

u/TheFrenchAreAssholes · 3 pointsr/Amd

[This] (http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS) should be what you're looking for. Granted, it's twice the price. It's a pretty good monitor, though; I have one.

u/DaLegendaryNewb · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I'm running an xg270hu, 1440p 144hz with freesync for just under 400 USD. I'll be honest the colors aren't mesmerizing but they're slightly better than my old ~100 dollar monitor, and it definitely doesn't look great at an angle but that doesn't bother me as I have it sitting directly in front of me. Freesync is was amazing with the high refresh rate since it's hard to run games at 144+ fps consistently, that is until I switched to team green. I would still recommend it if you're okay with a tn panel and it's in your price range.

u/zstone · 2 pointsr/buildapcsales

Why not get this panel for $5 more? Acer XG270HU

u/Dragonasaur · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

Why is the bezel-less version less expensive?

u/arkhound · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I had gotten a refurb of this.

Mine was about $400 when it was going for $500.

u/Gooey_Gravy · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

This is essentially the same monitor just the last generation of it so maybe this will work?

Acer XG270HU omidpx 27-inch WQHD AMD FREESYNC (2560 x 1440) Widescreen Monitor https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VRCLHYS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_AXWOzbFN0TDV2

Se ve que andan entreverados porque antes se medía de otra forma, yo pasé del 24" 1080p a este otro, por eso me quedé con el termino 2k... Lo catalogan como WQHD o 1440p también.

u/ikiSendu · 2 pointsr/bapcsalescanada

If you want that 1ms response time.

u/Soulshot96 · 2 pointsr/Monitors

Couple options for the 27 inch panel:

Asus MG279Q(IPS Freesync 4ms, 144hz, not as good as the PG, but it's cheaper, and works better with your AMD GPU thanks to freesync): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236466

This Acer(not too pretty imo but 144hz 1ms Freesync and cheap): http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS/ref=sr_1_1?tag=amazon0606-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1430272001&sr=8-1&keywords=acer+xg270hu+omidpx

If you really want to save money, there is this Asus monitor(24 inches, 144hz, but TN, and only 1080p): http://www.amazon.com/Asus-VG248QE-24-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00B2HH7G0/?tag=amazon0606-20

You'll have to look at these monitors for compatibility with Vesa mounts and stuff.

As far as Ultrawides go, that is a bit trickier, you might want to either stretch the budget, or cut into the $600 for the 144hz a bit to get both. I'll post suggestions anyway.

A Dell IPS 1440p ultrawide no freesync though afaik and rather expensive: http://www.amazon.com/Dell-UltraSharp-34-Inch-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00PXYRMPE?tag=amazon0606-20

Crazy territory here, but this Acer has 75hz, 1440p, ips, freesync and a slick design, but its expensive as hell:
http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XR341CK-bmijpphz-34-inch-UltraWide/dp/B0111MRT90/ref=sr_1_15?tag=amazon0606-20&s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1436945804&sr=1-15&keywords=3440x1440

And a slightly cheaper but still pricey 1440p ips ultrawide from LG:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824025066&cm_re=1440p_ultrawide-_-24-025-066-_-Product

Look through, find some you like that both fit into your $1200 overall budget, make sure they would fit on a mount, find a mount, and go.

u/HoosierCAD · 2 pointsr/Amd

I was personally originally looking at Acer XG27 b/c less $$ than BenQ. But, then switched back to looking at 1080 monitors b/c honestly didn't think consistent 60 fps was achievable in AAA games on an r9 390 (p.s. sorry again, I know I'm not helping with your problem)

u/coldtires · 2 pointsr/xboxone

Watch out some G-Sync monitors are known to have compatibility issues with 1440p detection on Xbox, I've seen one or two but it's not all monitors. Worst case scenario you get stuck with 1080p.

So don't throw out any packing material in case you need to return it.

For a high quality 1440p G-Sync get the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q which is IPS.

https://www.amazon.com/PG279Q-DisplayPort-Adjustable-Ergonomic-EyeCare/dp/B017EVR2VM/

Now that Nvidia allows Freesync to be used you could consider a 1440p Freesync monitor instead.

This Acer is 27" 1440p IPS with a Freesync range of 40-144Hz, to use with Nvidia GPU, enable G-Sync compatible, keep v-sync enabled in games, install Rivatuner server and enable frame rate lock below max range so 138fps, that gives best results.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS/

Xbox can also use that Freesync range with 40-60hz support in 60hz output mode and maybe even 40-120Hz with 120Hz output mode though known 120Hz Freesync support on Xbox is rare & it wont be till next gen Xbox we see high frame rate titles up to 120fps.

See AMD Freesync database for more product options and filters.

https://www.amd.com/en/products/freesync-monitors

u/rayzorium · 2 pointsr/gaming

Not only that, but G-Sync as well. There's plenty that cheap if you're okay with TN.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS

u/Jamjosef · 2 pointsr/Amd

Well you could get a Freesync 1080 or 1440P 144hz monitor for relatively cheap

1440P $403

1080P $235

u/shadyinternets · 2 pointsr/Monitors

have you considered 1 ultrawide? you would only have to give up the decent refresh rate part as to get 100hz is going to be at least $1,000 if you find a refurb or something.

something like this, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Q7VCSGU/ref=psdc_1292115011_t1_B00PXYRMPE

you will be at 60hz but the 1070 should push it nicely.

otherwise you are prob not going to find what you want at that price point, would have to spend a little more for something like https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS/ref=sr_1_3?

what about something like this? people claim to get it to 85hz, its 1440p, no bezel since ultrawide and not a ton over your budget. https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Curved-34-inch-UltraWide-Display/dp/B0111MRT90?

dropping from 1440p to 1080p would also open up more options.

u/hbn3141 · 2 pointsr/buildapc

There's a very wide variety of 1440p 144hz monitors that are perfectly fine for 400 or under like this

u/defnot_hedonismbot · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

It looks like a pretty good monitor! TN panel is not as bad as many make it out to be, if you're on a monitor you're probably looking at it with decent viewing angles. I use TN and love it. I'm not sure what your budget is but I feel the Acer XG270HU is worth mentioning, it is $130 more but has support for 144hz. Again, no clue how important that is to you or what your budget is just sharing the monitor that I have. And the monitor you linked is still great.

u/lwhitit · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I am partial to ultrawide myself but be warned 1080p on a screen over 27 inch can be too pixelated for some. All the games you listed support 21:9 and you will get much better frame rates with your current card vs 1440p. I wouldn't look at the UM67 personally. In the $500 or under range this is a better option since it the newer model and it also has freesync.

As for 1440p recommendation this would be cheaper and also have freesync.

u/kkjdroid · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

That's 1080p144, not 1440p144. In fact, you can get an Acer XG270HU (1440p144 TN FreeSync) for about $300 if you're patient and don't mind it being red for some reason. That brings it down to $100 more than the cheapest 144Hz monitors of any size, resolution, and feature set.

u/ShotIntoOrbit · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Nope. $249 was its lowest on Amazon and that was 3rd-Party Used. I would agree $299 isn't that good though, since that is basically its normal price on the Acer refurb site, it just come in and out of stock a lot.

Only concerns, does it feel a little small? And is it a TN panel, if so do you feel like you're missing out on the color?

edit: I'm considering this one as it's listed by Nvidia as being compatible with G-sync. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VRCLHYS/ref=as_li_qf_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=thepcenthusia-20&creative=9325&linkCode=as2&creativeASIN=B00VRCLHYS&linkId=a6f4704454e440d96dd8d38588b44968

I have a 1070 as well, and use a 1440p 144hz monitor. In The Witcher, Ultra settings, 1440p, I get 70-80fps. It's fucking awesome. I have this one but you'd probably want the g-sync version, not freesync. I bought it when I was using an AMD card.

I just bought a couple Acer XG270HU for $300 each at Best Buy. Loving them so far. It's got this bronze/orange colored plate on it though so make sure that's not a problem for you. Cheapest 1440p 144 Hz monitor I could find with G-Sync/Freesync. Pretty happy so far. Only cons for me are colored plate and the fact the monitors can not rotate left/right on their stands. You have to rotate the entire stand. Also they can not adjust height. With all that being said they are 5/5 for me.

This is probably the cheapest. It has gone on sale for much cheaper so if you want to play the waiting game you can. Other sellers have it for lower, just not for prime.

u/Gilianz · 1 pointr/Monitors

This kind of comes down to preference. Personally, I like a 2 monitor setup as you can always have something else on the other screen. The two monitors are a little bit different because the LG monitor does have freesync, which is only good if you have an AMD GPU. The Acer monitor on the other hand will have a 1440p resolution compared to the 1080 of the LG. The other thing to consider is the amount of money you are spending. The LG will give you enough room for a game and twitch chat on the side, since not all games run at a 21:9 ratio. But you would have to spend $400 more for the dual monitor setup.

If I were you and wanted to spend the $800 in total I would go with this Acer monitor, that is if you have an AMD GPU for freesync. Then get a cheaper 27" monitor on the side, be it a 1080 or 1440 resolution monitor. The reason I would spend the $600 on that monitor is because it will have an IPS panel, great for color if you are playing scenic games, and will achieve the 144hz refresh rate that most people will say is good. For the second monitor you could get something like this though arguably it would be nice to have matching monitors.

u/tjwhalen · 1 pointr/buildapc

Man I drool over the thought of an ultrawide like that in 144hz, then I realise I couldn't afford it.

I ended up buying an Acer XG270HU which is 1440p, 27" 144hz, and freesync. Big step up from my 24" 144hz.

Still though, I cant wait until the day where a 4K+ 144hz ultrawide is affordable (or even available)

u/SCP239 · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I don't think you'll find any for around $400. Regular 1440p monitors start off around $300 and generally 144hz monitors are TN instead of IPS.

A quick look through Amazon gave me this. Can't see anywhere it states if it's IPS, though. It's the only 144hz 1440p monitor I saw around $400. All others were $600 or more.

I'm currently working on getting a weekly stream up and going, but I only have one monitor. What I have right now is great, it's the Acer XG270HU. The only problem, if you even want to call it that, is that it's FreeSync, while I have an GTX 970. I want a second monitor so I can read Twitch chat while I stream. I was wondering if I should stick with the monitor I have and just buy a cheap one from Best Buy as a secondary monitor or if I should buy a G-Sync monitor and use this one as my secondary. Will the quality jump that much if I go to G-Sync?

I have vsync on as every guide told me to do I have the game in fullscreen mode my video card is an R9 290x Oced to 1200/1500 the games are at 1440p. Fallout 4 limits me to 30FPS and no difference. I am connected using display port no adapters just display port to display port. My monitor is this one

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS

The monitor said it supports freesync I tried every setting I have freesync enabled on my Radeon Control Center for that monitor and nothing. So far the investment hasn't been worth it I was already on a 1080p 27in monitor I moved to this one for Freesync and so far I have been incredibly disappointed since I have yet to see a difference.

If I am doing something wrong please tell me because I feel REALLY ripped off by AMD for falling for the marketing BS and buying a crazy expensive monitor. Don't get me wrong 1440p is nice but I paid extra to get a higher end one that had Free Sync support :(

Hi, I'm planning on getting a new monitor and graphics card pretty soon. Right now I have a Samsung SyncMaster P2350 (23", 1080p, 60hz) and a 780ti SC. My graphics card will be upgraded to either a 1080ti in Q1 2017, or the Titan Pascal if I can find a good deal on it.

My real question is which monitor to get? I want an upgrade from 23 inches and 1080/60 and was thinking something along the lines of 27 inches, 1440p at 144hz. I'm going to be using it for gaming, so I'd like a 1ms response time.

I was thinking about this Acer monitor but I wanted opinions on other products before I pulled the trigger on anything.

1440p is definitely a "must have", while the refresh rate can either be 120hz or 144hz. 1 or 2ms response time is ideal. Panel type (TN vs IPS) I am not too knowledgeable about, but I'm open to suggestions and reasons for/against a panel type. G-sync is not required. Budget is flexible, and I may consider an $800+ monitor, so don't hesitate to throw all suggestions out there.

Thanks everyone!

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS

which you can find for $300 or less on /r/buildapcsales fairly often, and an RX 480 8GB, which is basically the power equivalent of a GTX 1060 from what I gather. You may want to look into something more powerful if it's in your budget.

The monitor supports FreeSync (AMD) and it's definitely the nicest monitor I've ever owned. I haven't had any problems with it.

I want to measure the input lag against my other 144hz monitor, unfortunately I gave it to a friend so I will have to try to get it back for testing :(.

My biggest complaint is the colors which I am going to fix this weekend as I should have time on saturday.

But again I want to test that input lag because after some long gaming sessions I have noticed I needed to adjust my dpi a bit so I am not sure exactly what is going on there. It feels slower than my other monitor, https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS/ .

Its one of the freesync screens Nvidia certified for gsync

u/OneTrickSenpai · 1 pointr/Monitors

Keep in mind that the monitor you listed is TN, and only has a 1920X1080 resolution. At 24 inches, a 1080p monitor probably won't look very good to you.

If good color reproduction is important to you, I would suggest going for an IPS panel instead of a TN one, and I would definitely suggest going for a 1440p monitor over a 1080p one.

However, getting all that with G-sync is very expensive. Without G-sync, you could pick this one up for around $400.

If you want a TN panel for the low latency and don't care about G-Sync, try this one.

I personally have not noticed a huge increase in quality with G-sync, but you mileage may vary.

u/Bout73Ninjas · 1 pointr/buildapc

Maybe this?

If you're doing 1080p, I would highly recommend going 24". After using a 1080p 27" monitor for a while, the loss in picture clarity is just too jarring. Frankly, I'd even go as far as to say the picture looks terrible.

This Acer monitor is probably your best bet for around $350 with your rx570. You should be able to do 1440p 144hz in most games just fine. The freesync will help with dipping framerates anyway

This one is a VA panel so the colors will be better, but it's by a weird brand that I have no experience with. So it's up to you

Fantastic monitor, bezel is a little thick if you’re using them for multi monitor but I don’t really know why you would. u/Snafutarfun · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS

Like, two years ago, it is a TN panel, but was very solid, at least until it started having problems. I think that the issues were caused because she would never turn it off.... I told her that leaving it on would diminish the life expectancy, but she didnt and that's the end of it

Anyhow, was a good monitor while it lasted, no dead pixels, blacks where "ok" too, it had free sync and Nvidia had rolled some patches that also enabled Gsync

u/Warskull · 1 pointr/SiegeAcademy

First off, before you even think about investing in a 144Hz monitor, can your GPU give you the framerate you want in this game?

Beyond that, monitor technology is to the point where everything is pretty good. The more expensive ones support things like HDR or are ultrawides.

You have three panel techs, TN, VA, and IPS. TN is the older tech, it is cheaper to make and tends to have better response times. IPS has superior color and viewing angle, but the response times and refresh rates suffer as a result. VA panels are in the middle. You can still get excellent response times on VA and IPS monitors, but they will be a lot more expensive as a result.

Viewsonic and Acer makes some really good 1080p 144Hz monitors. They offer great budget TN panels. You can get 24 inches 1080p for about $200.

Viewsonic is probably the best budget option.

Samsung has some VA panel for a bit more. You'll get a nicer image.

If you have a good graphics card and are ok with spending a bit more Acer has a good 1440p monitor.

If you start going into higher end tech like HDR the prices start to go way up.

u/UpalSecam · 1 pointr/Monitors

u/bwiebe13 · 1 pointr/buildapc

if you want a low response time you need a tn panel type. Usually people who want a low response time play first person shooters. Am I correct?? If I am, that means you will also want a high refresh rate panel. If my assumptions are correct, then there is really only one monitor that fits these criteria:

https://www.amazon.ca/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-27-inch-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS?ie=UTF8&keywords=Acer%20XG270HU&qid=1436072307&ref_=sr_1_1&s=electronics&sr=1-1&tag=amazon0064-20

Note: this applies to Brownaay aswell. there are no 24" tn panels in 1440p. You would need to get an LED panel which has a slower response time if you want 24".

Could be cheaper/better if you did not want RGB, but for an RGB build you cant really go lower, overally pretty good, just change drives/power supply and search for another 5700xt, best are PowerColor 5700xt Red Dragon or Sapphire 5700xt Pulse. 3 fan Gigabyte card is fine too.

Go with 1440p, you are NOT on a budget and 5700xt is perfectly capable for it =) Well, it IS hard to find a decend 1440p 144hz non TN Freesync panel, acer 271+ models have issues, otherwise 270 series is great(https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-27-inch-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?keywords=Acer+NITRO+VG270U&qid=1568102625&s=gateway&sr=8-1-fkmr0

Case is good, but if you want RGB - front panel is closed, so there is not much place to put it into =)Corsair fans are great if you want fans and a ring, but otherwise they are not great fans and cost a lot, so added another option. And yeah, if you still want to buy corsair fans - just get h510 Elite, would be the same price as h510+corsair fans, looks great and everything is pre-installed.. Otherwise just h510+30$ for fans(option in the list).

for Drives - Ditch HDD, they are slow, noisy and and this build deserve better. Here is your main drive, list does not seem to find it, it's great and reviewed by Tom's Hardware recentlyhttps://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Gen3x4-000MB-SU001TBP34A80M28AB/dp/B07L6GF81L/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=SU001TBP34A80M28AB&qid=1568101817&s=gateway&sr=8-1 $114.99 for 1TB nvme goodness
Second drive can be anything, tho b450 board only have one m.2 so any sata ssd for 1-2 tb is great, added a great option, it seems on sale right now.

Also added another memory option, same just 3600, if you want.

Hey guys,

I'm building my PC ATM (I76700k, GTX 1070, Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 Go DDR4 @2800mhz...) and i have a question.

Right now i'm rocking an old 24" Asus, and i'm hesitant for my next monitor (I'll use the 24" as a second monitor) : With my config, should i go with a 24" @ 1080p or a 27" @ 1440p ?

The BenQ XL2430T

Acer Predator XG270HU (It's a freesync but i'll have a Nvidia card).

I think i'll play mostly fps (Overwatch @144hz, BF1...), fighting games and games like Rise of Tomb Raider, etc...

So yeah... why would you guys do ? And bonus question, which side would you take if i had a choice between 2 G-Syncs ?

Thanks for your time !

The Acer XG270HU is $420 on Amazon right now for the "AMD Freesync" version. The "Freesynv" version is $550. What's the difference between AMD Freesync and just Freesync? If I plan on getting an 1070 or 1080, would the "AMD Freesync" work with this, or would I need an AMD card?

Would this be a good deal for a gaming monitor with a 1070?

u/6x9equals42 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Here's a 1080p/144hz 27" and a 1440p/144hz freesync monitor that would fit in your budget. If you want a 4k 60hz TV this 43" has good ratings but is $500

u/homietron5000 · 1 pointr/Monitors

Depends on your budget, bud.

I assume you know what things like refresh rate are, and what IPS/TN panels are. If not, [here's] (http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/r/refrrate.htm) a quick definition of what refresh rate is, and a [video] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8Y26Uq07Kw) on the differences between IPS and TN panels. Also, consider Freesync. Here's a [video on what that is] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ey-KObDABI).

Now that you've gotten settled, I'll give you some options :)

[Acer XG270HU] (http://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS/ref=sr_1_1?tag=amazon0606-20&ie=UTF8&qid=1430272001&sr=8-1&keywords=acer+xg270hu+omidpx) $419

[Acer G257HU] (http://www.amazon.com/Acer-G257HU-smidpx-25-Inch-Widescreen/dp/B00QS0AKVK?tag=amazon0606-20) $260 -- this is a really good monitor for the price if you're on a budget. It doesn't have freesync, but it's great for the price if you don't care about screen tear. Hey, that rhymes! LOL

[Acer H277H] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0148NNKU6/ref=twister_B016E49WWW?tag=amazon0606-20&_encoding=UTF8&psc=1) $280 same goes for this one! it's 1080p so it won't be taxing on your system like 4K would. 1440p isn't that taxing as well if you adjust your settings :)

If you are playing FPS shooters, having freesync could be a beneficial thing for you :) so consider that!

Hope this helps!

EDIT: quick side note! WAIT FOR COMPUTEX BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING! I can't tell you how many times people buy hardware before new ones get announced/come out, and then they beat themselves up. Consider these options as a pathway, but you should 1. Do more research on the things you look for in a monitor besides the things I've mentioned before and 2. Wait until something better gets released since you said you are planning to do a PC build in the near future. Wait for AMD's new architecture, named Polaris, to drop. Wait for benchmarks. Wait for monitors at computex to be announced, and then make a decision! :) All these things can help.

Why? Because I'm planning to do a PC build myself in the near future! :)

Acer XG270HU

Freesync, DP, pretty low response time, 144hz. I own three of them and they're awesome (aside from their stand and no VESA mounts, but there are VESA mount adapters for this monitor).

u/scylendrey · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I bought this one. It was on Amazon for 350 I think at the time. Freesync monitors are very reasonably priced, unlike G-sync.

u/greypiper1 · 1 pointr/buildapc

This is the monitor I was thinking about, another retailer is selling for less than $400, any good?

u/TheBestOtaku · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

u/Dank_Duck · 1 pointr/buildapc

> Is that asking too much from my setup?

I wouldn't say it's asking too much, especially since freesync monitors are quite a bit cheaper than g sync. Don't expect to max out AAA games at 1440p and get 144fps though.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00VRCLHYS/ref=twister_B018FLZ63G?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

IIRC this monitor uses the same panel as the g sync series(xb270hu)

u/DonutDonutDonut · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'm looking to upgrade my GPU, and I'd also like to get a 144hz 1440p gaming monitor. I'm waiting until details on Polaris (benchmarks and prices) before deciding on ATI vs. Nvidia, but I've been considering this monitor. The price is currently pretty great, but since it's a FreeSync monitor, will I be locked in to buying an ATI card to take advantage of the high refresh rate?

u/fandamplus · 1 pointr/bapcsalescanada

Main monitor died so I need a quick replacement. I was looking at something around 24 inches @ 144hz for $350ish dollars. What's my best bet?

edit: Anybody have any experiences with the Acer XG270HU?

You are buying a AMD graphics card and G-sync is for nVidia cards. You could be interested in a Freesync monitor instead.

I'm not sure you'll find a 1440p monitor with Freesync in your budget but I think you'll probably be fine without it. For reference, this should show you two options without Freesync close to your budget and this is what a 1440p Freesync monitor goes for.

If what you want is higher framerate without tearing within your budget, consider going for 1080p at 144hz with this guy. It probably depends on what games you play more often.

u/killacam7478 · 1 pointr/Monitors

What size are you considering? For $400 CAD, you could get a cheaper 27" 1440p monitor, although most I'm looking at are closer to $400 USD. A GTX 1070 is a lot of GPU power so you want to make sure you are getting a good monitor to match that.

If its within budget I would suggest getting a 1440p/144hz monitor. Even if your hardware isn't quite there to take full advantage, its still a huge visual upgrade. Overwatch isn't very taxing anyway, even at max settings and 1440p.
I picked this one up for $350 on sale at my local micro center and I recommend it.

u/RedMage928 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Idk about refurbished on Ebay. Plus I'm probably going to want to check out monitors in-store anyway.

Is GSync really worth the ~$200 more than Free Sync? Cause I can get a new instead of refurbished monitor for less where it looks like that's the only difference. The 1070 sounds like it'll keep up

I'm gonna forget black friday for the monitor.

u/greasy_minge · 1 pointr/Amd

I saw a refurbished acer 144hz 1440p freesync for 350 recently too.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS one for 380 here.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS

And an 8GB 480? You won't hit anywhere near 144hz unless it's stuff like CS, but with freesync, it doesn't matter as much - anything above 45fps will be presented with no tearing, and almost no stuttering.

Seems like a deal to me.

  • cheaper price on amazon.

BTW what GPU are you using? I'm hoping its a gtx 1080 to run 1440p 144hz.
u/ChampionoftheParish · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'd say if you want to play in 1440p on high settings and get high frame rate across a wide range of games, going with a GTX 1070 or waiting for VEGA are really your two options. So considering that, that upgrade budget if pretty tight. You could go with 1080p high refresh rate, or try to shoot for 60fps at 1440p with the RX 480, but know that you won't hit 60 on ultra in every game.

So since pcp is down right now, here's a rough breakdown:
GTX 1070 or Future Equivilent: ~$400
Motherboard: ~$100 (if you want to overclock)
CPU: ~$200 for an i5, ~$300 FOR i7 or Zen Equivilent
Then 16GB of DDR4 ram is another ~$100

So if you go all the way with your upgrade to have a basically brand new system, you're looking at about an $800 upgrade to go to high refresh rate 1440p gaming.

It looks to me like there wouldn't be a ridiculous difference in price between freesync and gsync. If you want a 24" monitor though, there arent really any good freesync ones, so you would need to go 27" which would be about on par wiith the cost of a 24" g-sync monitor. You can get a dell 1440p 144hz g-sync 24" for $400 or a 27" for $600(goes on sale for 500). And you can get a 27" freesync 144hz asus for ~$450.

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XG270HU-omidpx-FREESYNC-Widescreen/dp/B00VRCLHYS

https://www.amazon.com/Dell-Gaming-S2716DG-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B0149QBOF0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484492053&sr=8-1&keywords=dell+144hz

So I don't see much of an issue going g-sync, but you could potentially save money on a 27" monitor.

8ms is really bad... especially for being expensive.

You could get a [freesync monitor with 1ms (TN panel) for less]

If IPS is preferred, these go on sell occasionally I have two, and they are nice. And I used them for gaming. Of course, they're 2 inches smaller.. Still, point being the Dell sucks :v

BenQ has some really nice ones at 1080 like this BenQ XL2720Z 144Hz 1ms 27" for 360 but if you do not care about VESA compatible mounts you could go up to a Acer 27" 1440, 144hz, FreeSync, 1ms monitor for $420. They are both TN panels but most people don't care or know the difference between TN, TFT, IPS.

Click the bottom one that says "blah blah offers 280.62" thing at the bottom and it should redirect to newegg(free shipping too).

This is the one I'm on the border of buying since you can have better than 1080p and better than the modern default of 60fps.

Double the pixels, more than double the framerate. I'm salivating thinking of playing doom at 144fps on super low or at 1440p at a shameful 30fps. But it unlocks future potential for GPU upgrades. I was a midrange GPU buyer so this lets me pick "either or" or overclock to get a mid-range next gen look, maybe 1920x1200 at 90fps, not sure if it's more demanding in pixels or in frame rate refresh, but I'm inches away from pushing the buy button.

I just had that fear that when I press buy cyber Monday will kick into gear and this same thing will be 180 bucks or something.
