As somone who broke the LCD on my 17in HP G7, I say buy the LCD off somewhere like Amazon. The machine you have is still modern enough that you'd just be wasting money buying a complete new one to replace it outright. The screen is probably easy enough to swap out:

Likewise a replacement for the onboard keyboard is around $25 on Amazon. So you have the option of spending ~$90 dollars in parts. Versus $400-$500 for a completely new machine you might not see a lot of difference in performance on, compared to your existing machine.
At a minimum you can continue using your current machine (after fixing it), then save up for a nicer dedicated gaming machine.
