I bought this for my T440p approx. 2 months ago for $80-90 USD: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B074K273KV/

It's out of stock now but the 128GB version is still available: https://www.amazon.com/ADATA-IM2S3334-Industrial-Grade-Internal-IM2S3334-128GD/dp/B074JMMW4N/

The 256GB version for that price was the best 2242 form factor $/GB I've ever seen, even compared to some of the shady Chinese models out there. Plus ADATA has proper warranty channels you can RMA the product through in case it fails within the warranty period.

EDIT: It was $90 USD and I reviewed it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/77tzl2/great_priceperformance_m22242_256gb_ssd_by_adata/

I ordered an Adata 256GB from ebay (US seller).
Here's some on amazon though. This is the same model as what i ordered. It does have DRAM cache which was pretty important to me.

They start at $668.

With a processor, graphics, and display upgrade, $826.78. (i5-7300U, 940mx, and FHD screen). Which is how I would order it. I would upgrade RAM and SSD myself.

I would buy a 8 x 2 gb kit of DDR4, but you might be able to get by with 12 or even 8gb. Totally depends on your needs. This also might be something to ask the Reddit about, as I don't know much about RAM compatibility, and how much you can mix and match RAM. (I personally, just buy the exact same model even if It means spending a lot more).

I would put a M.2 SATA III SSD in the WANN slot, and leave the 500 gb HDD in the machine. You'd get 756 gb total, and could put the OS on the SSD along with important things and have plenty of speed. A 2242 mm M.2 with 256 gb should cost you 90$. So total cost after upgrades $940 with 8gb RAM, 961 with 12gb, or $1006 with 16 gb RAM.

I picked up an ADATA 256 drive for like 85 bucks on amazon a few months ago and haven't had any problems with it. Its sold out now but if they come up again I would definitely recommend it.
