The best available CPUs for socket FM2+ are the quad core Athlons, like the Athlon x4 880k. I've never used anything socket FM2+ though, used some AM3 and AM3+ CPUs, so no idea as to their performance. I would imagine though, being an older architecture the performance isn't amazing. I would recommend looking for benchmarks comparing your CPU to one of the quad core athlons, to verify whether or not it's even a performance upgrade at all.

You should really consider buying a new motherboard and CPU, the best you can buy is an Athlon X4 880K: https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Athlon-Thermal-Solution-AD880KXBJCSBX/dp/B01BPEZ5P4
But it's old and very expensive compared to it's competitors for the same price.

You could buy this G4560 motherboard bundle and get the most bang for your buck: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ADMI-COMPONENT-BUNDLE-Motherboard-productivity/dp/B06W54XLJD/ref=s9_simh_gw_g147_i1_r?_encoding=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=&pf_rd_r=Y624FXF7BXSQTF8EK227&pf_rd_t=36701&pf_rd_p=16f14aeb-bd11-4e9e-8c26-9ca0139074ee&pf_rd_i=desktop

It's pretty hardcore despite its price, check out this benchmark comparing it to an i3 7350K, i5 7600K and an i7 6700K: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dichjs9HXTg

You would push an RX 470 close to its limits.

If I'm right, the motherboard should have an FM2 socket. You will be able to upgrade to a "decent" Athlon X4 processor with that. Plus you can use that GTX 760 you asked about earlier.

I ran GW2 on Medium/Low settings with an AMD Phenom II 840 and a GTX 750TI with 10GB of 1333 DDR3 until I upgraded to my Ryzen 5 setup. It wasn't too terrible unless I was balled up in a big WvW zerg.

If you already have the GTX 760 you mentioned in another reply then I'd say jump on this and replace that processor with the Athlon X4 for a super cheap build. You may even be able to find it cheaper than the $80 on Amazon. (I just did a quick search for reference.)

(DISCLAIMER): This build will probably not run most AAA titles and will only limp you along for another couple of years, but it will let you enjoy GW2 and other games to a degree.

I hope this helps you make a decision.

EDIT: There is a chance I am wrong and this could be an FM2 socket as well. I just dug into it some more and depending on when this was built it could have either the FM2 or FM2+. I'd check and see before moving ahead with any purchases. If its the FM2+, I'll stand by what I said earlier. If it is the FM2 Socket, I wouldn't touch this.

AMD Athlon X4 880K is the best CPU you can put in your motherboard. You'd probably be better off buying this AMD Athlon X4 860K instead and just overclocking it.

How much system RAM do you have?

I do. And from what I've been reading, it seems like the overall prospect for you to consider would be the Athlon x4 880K. Here is an example of how much one would cost on Amazon as you can compare prices with other CPU's and see what works with your Budget.

Metro is single player but I absolutely love the game to death. I did a Twitch stream a few months ago on the absolute highest difficulty (which btw, no HUD allowed on that)

But yeah, I would not play Arma on an APU.

Try this:

If I go by memory correctly, your mobo is FM2+, which this CPU is and it would be a step up.

You can buy an X4 880k for the same price ~ $94 - https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Athlon-Thermal-Solution-AD880KXBJCSBX/dp/B01BPEZ5P4/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1466163758&sr=1-1&keywords=amd+x4+880k

It's basically a higher clocked 860k. Having the same CPU but with OC like the 880k's Turbo frequency I can tell you it will at least bottleneck less when it's 4.0+ Ghz.

Also I don't think it should bottleneck the 380X that much to begin with, but you might have low fps in GTAV because it's cpu-heavy and the 380X also isn't very strong for it even with a much much more powerful CPU it only does 38 fps average on 1080p Very High - http://www.anandtech.com/show/9784/the-amd-radeon-r9-380x-review/11

One more thing - I think it's better to buy a bundle of 2x 4GB DDR3 RAM sticks and use them in Dual Channel mode, rather than use one 8GB stick.

Ha - that is a surprisingly beefy OEM motherboard! While you're planning your upgrade, perhaps consider the following:
