Typically 24 inches is what most pros use at home :) but on NPL we use a 25 inch monitor from ALIENWARE which is this --> https://www.amazon.com/Alienware-25-Gaming-Monitor-Height-Adjustable/dp/B0733YCKM5/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=alienware+25+inch+240hz&qid=1562913788&s=electronics&sr=1-1 but i recommend you get a 24 inch monitor from benq or something like that 144 hz at least :))!

u/blue_wafflez · 9 pointsr/buildapcsales

Not sure where you're from, but Amazon is also selling the AlienWare 25 240hz monitor for the same exact price brand new.

Edit: It's the AW2518HF model. I also haven't had my coffee this morning. Amazon is $329 NEW. Dell site is $273 refurb after discount as stated by u/thehippyjonny. Don't reddit before you're awake, people.

> What's the best choice for another monitor then?

That depends on a lot of things. What kind of games do you play, what's your budget, where do you live, what's more important low input lag/motion blur or picture quality etc.

This is what I'd get: https://www.amazon.com/Alienware-25-Gaming-Monitor-Height-Adjustable/dp/B0733YCKM5 if I lived in USA because I mostly play CS GO.

From the reviews i've seen it works. Link (under 7*)

u/sorenCS · 2 pointsr/pcgamingtechsupport

I think it does.

I have gsycnc turned on on nvidia settings as well.

u/preme_killa · 2 pointsr/RocketLeagueEsports

i used 240hz for about 2 months and then i borrowed my friends 1440p to give it a try. yes the quality is better, but the game just felt sluggish idk. when you play rl at 240hz the game just feels perfect. its kinda hard to describe. you just have to try it.

i have this monitor https://www.amazon.com/Alienware-25-Gaming-Monitor-Height-Adjustable/dp/B0733YCKM5/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=alienware+240hz&qid=1571514470&sr=8-2

This one is pretty cheap

Alienware 25 Gaming Monitor - AW2518Hf https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0733YCKM5/

I personally have the PG258Q and I just recently turned g-sync off and I’m honestly not seeing any difference.

Edit: I’m able to play at 200+ fps in games so I’m not sure if this is the reason why there’s no tearing?

u/pirateslife99 · 2 pointsr/starcitizen

Ok. Then with some quick googling, I'd say the Alienware AW2518Hf, the ViewSonic XG2530, or the ASUS ROG Strix XG258Q.

Mouse- G502 ($47)

I just bought these 3. They are awesome quality and less than $500.

Hope it helps!

For about the same money (or less) you could get the Alienware 240hz: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0733YCKM5/

Also, why did you decide on the i7 8700k? The 9700k is same price and newer.

u/Withypoison · 2 pointsr/Monitors

I do own 3 other 240hz monitors but I do think the best one for your price point is this

Samsung C27HG70,
and Alienware AW2518Hf

At first it would display to both monitors but I couldn't get anything higher than 640x480 on the samsung. When I went into the monitors settings I changed the displayport setting to 1.2 from 1.2+. and that allowed it to work through the adapter, but thats when I couldn't get the monitors to extend.

u/FINALLY_I_TRIED · 1 pointr/buildapc

With this build you could make use of 1080p 144Hz, 1440p 60Hz and if you want to future-proof your monitor even 1440p at 144Hz. Here is a list of monitors that would fit:

u/floating_on_a_cloud · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Awesome! Thanks for the info.

I am planning on buying the AW2415HF from Microcenter and trying it out. If I don't like it, I can return it and get a full refund. I'm a casual FNBR player, so idc much about the FOV downgrade. I'm a big OW player though.

Last question (kind of unrelated):

Do you know if Nvidia has fixed the dual monitor/different refresh rate stuttering issue? The stuttering is really annoying when I try to play a video on my second screen while I play games full-screen on the other monitor.

Example thread, except I always play in full-screen. My driver version is: 385.69

Would this be a good option for 240hz? I mainly play fortnite (I know I know) So I can push some pretty high frames. This one is "freesync" though. What is the difference between freesync and gsync?

thanks

u/tiredofretards · 1 pointr/Monitors

Yeah I have been looking at Dell and Alienware gaming monitors and they are all TN. Maybe this one, but I have to be sure that the freesync will work with my nvidia gpu.

I'm looking for a good 144hz /240hz monitor for fast paced fps games.
I've got a 1080ti.

My only requirements are

  • that it has decent viewing angles (for consuming movies not directly in front of it )
  • not much ghosting
  • and under 400 or 500 cad.

I have Amazon prime so something from Amazon would be nice but not necessary.

Here's some I found. Anyone recommend these?

    ViewSonic XG2530 (25" 240hz)

    Alienware 25 240hz Gaming Monitor - AW2518Hf

I've not really found anything good for the 1440p 144hz in the 450 range.
    What do I even go with, 1440p 144hz or 1080p 240hz?

If you guys can help with some recommendations or insight that'd be great :)

u/Phelix007 · 1 pointr/Monitors

Oh they might not be on sale right now then, when they are the s2716dg is usually $350-$400 while the s2416dg is like $300-340ish if I remember that correctly. Buying them used you can more than likely find them cheaper.

There is also this one that's on sale right now if you want to stick with 1080p but is a 240hz monitor

1080p but it is 240 hz. Great for esports titles like you mentioned. FreeSync is supported by Nvidia now and the range is 48 to 240. It is $299 at the time of this comment.

u/Owlero · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

The left panel is 1080p 240hz (Alienware AW2518HF) and the right is 4k 60hz (LG 24UD58-B).
The arms are VIVO gas-springs (STAND-V001O)

u/oWowhatisthis69 · 1 pointr/buildapcforme

Hey so one more question lol. I found a 240 hz monitor at a really nice price I think? https://www.amazon.com/Alienware-25-Gaming-Monitor-AW2518Hf/dp/B0733YCKM5 Would the first rig you suggested be able to utilize the refresh rate? I'm getting a little greedier on the refresh rate, since it seems to not be too big of a price jump compared to the other 240 hz monitors alot of the csgo pros seem to be using which is the benQ Xl2540

u/StillUsesWindowsXP · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

The same seller has it on Amazon for $10 more, but with Prime shipping: https://www.amazon.com/Alienware-25-Gaming-Monitor-AW2518Hf/dp/B0733YCKM5

u/koalificated · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

It's pretty tough finding a monitor nowadays that doesn't go up to 1080p. If you're aiming for that much FPS you're going to need a monitor with a high refresh rate which doesn't come cheap. You can always lower your resolution and graphics in the game settings.

This monitor has an extremely fast response time for your multiplayer games, supports up to 144 FPS, and has pretty good colors for a TN panel. $200

This monitor has the same specs but supports up to 240 FPS. $250

This monitor is by far the cheapest again for similar specs, but only supports up to 75 FPS and has weaker colors. $130

This one is the most expensive but supports 240 FPS, freesync, tilts, swivels, and is by far more reliable than any of these other ones will be. $340

Be warned you get what you pay for. It's also worth looking around craigslist or ebay for used monitors and researching a little more for what you want.

u/Donler · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

The Dell Alienware 25 - AW2518Hf is also on sale for $303 on Amazon. Would the Alienware make a better sole gaming monitor than the S2719DGF? (I realize the size difference)

u/I-already-redd-it- · 1 pointr/pcgaming

Thanks for the reply! I’m not planning on using VR, as for the monitor, I already have one so we can exclude that from the price, leaving us with 600 or so left to spend, if you want more information on the monitor, here is a link to it on amazon, again, thanks for the help

The Alienware 25 inch is awesome! I had one for a couple years and had to upgrade to 4K for editing, but great monitor and excellent build quality. The free sync worked great with my Nvidia GPU. No need to spend extra on Gsync. Alienware 25 Inch, 240 HZ Monitor

u/Seb_op · 1 pointr/Monitors

If you only play competitive games i'd get 240hz. Pros don't really care for g-sync so I would just get a freesync panel since its much cheaper. Screen tearing isnt a big issue wirh high frame rates. Something like this for the same price as the acer: https://www.amazon.com/Alienware-25-Gaming-Monitor-AW2518Hf/dp/B0733YCKM5/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1524753730&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=240hz&dpPl=1&dpID=51R-faocHEL&ref=plSrch#nav-search-keywords
