Reddit mentions of AmazonBasics Retractable Gel Pens - 50 Pack (Assorted Colors)

Amazon has been selling 50 pens, black/blue/ red for $10. Those are the new ones I stock up with. Nobody wants the blue ones.

Pilot G2 - Bold Point

AmazonBasics knock-off of Pilot G2

While I do love the feel of a rollerball and the quality of a nice fp, I've found that gel pens are absolutely wonderful for writing on even the most cheap quality paper, and able to be inexpensive enough that you won't worry about losing them.

I'd highly recommend checking out /r/pens! They are a community for all types of pens, whereas /r/fountainpens is more specific.

These pens are cheap as dirt (they come in a pack of 50 for 9USD), and write great on my cheap as dirt notebook paper. This doesn't seem to fit your needs though because the pens are rather thin. But the point is that there are great choices out there!

Want to try a much cheaper G2? Amazon sells their AmazonBasics gel pens that are shaped pretty similar to the G2 and write about like a G2, but for a fraction of the cost. You can get a pack of 50 for $9.57, which works out to less than 20 cents a pen. Two drawbacks: 1) they only come in 0.7 line, nothing more fine or more bold, and 2) they're only available in packs of 50, which includes 20 blue, 20 black, and 20 red. But if you like the G2, for the price they're worth a try.
