The black ones look like s&m porn, in my opinion. No idea why those are popular and as you said they're garbage for contrast. I have a box I use for working on my truck because of the grease/grime factor.

We're up here in the mountains so it's usually cold. I started using 15ml gloves (http://amzn.to/2tC09la) and I like them a lot. They're pretty durable, honestly. I don't have that exact box, we get ours from the hospital, but they look similar.
