Reposting this since it got buried yesterday.

Since sophomore year of high school my hairline has been maturing (receding) ever so slightly, but it's definitely amped up thanks to the stress of college + some weird scalp irritation which causes oozing red bumps on my scalp (like acne), which has been reduced through diprolene and avoiding sulfates. Sophomore year of college I scratched a lot of hair out of my scalp thanks to this, and it really hasn't been the same since.

I started using this kit by Andalou Naturals, to moderate success. After about a month I've seen very slight improvement in the thickness of my hair and more growth at the hairline from follicles that seemed dormant. It's also worth noting that some of my hair has started darkening significantly (platinum blonde/translucent to dark brown) and at least 50% of the hair that is returning is much thicker than it has ever been, probably two and a half times as thick.

Regardless, this is where I currently am at 21: http://imgur.com/a/RtE2Q (no product; the black line is a rough estimate of my hairline starting high school)

I can't style my hair at all the way I want to even after spending twenty minutes in the mirror, because it simply doesn't have enough to support itself. I'm very very very seriously considering talking to my dermatologist about finasteride and minoxidil because my hair seems very volatile and reacts to the slightest stress/diet/sleep change, as if taking one step forward is followed by three backward steps. I often hear "oh, just shave it" or "it doesn't look thaaaat bad" or "it's fine" from friends and loved ones, but no one I know really gets the aggravation of wanting to "use" my hair but instead being forced to powder it just to fill in my scalp.

So, minoxidil and finasteride: yes or no? I can't use nizoral (already tried) because I'm sensitive to SLS but I'll probably substitute that with Regenepure DR.
