Thank you for your post. It sounds like I should upgrade my hardware (and also do a better job with my selections)

My CPU is only an Intel Core i5-6600K LGA1151 and the blu-ray drive I have is shown here (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E6ZAZ8W/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )

If you plug the bluray player into your monitor, it doesn't use your PC. The player itself should have built in software.

Edit: I use this standard USB Bluray player that cost $80: Amazon I pair that with MakeMKV and watched the ripped Blurays on VLC. It works well for me, and lets me avoid the hassle of always putting in the disc when i want to watch something twice
