When I was a teenager teaching myself German, I used to come home from Blanchet High School in the afternoon and put Beethoven's Ninth Symphony on the stereo as loud as it could go without blowing out the speakers. On some days I could get through the Ninth Symphony two complete times before dinner. Anyway, one time I was reading the Peanuts cartoon in The Seattle Times and Lucy was leaning on Schroeder's piano, going through Schroeder's wallet. Suddenly Lucy called out to Schroeder across the piano: "Beethoven!? Whoever carries a picture of Beethoven around in their wallet?" I fetched my own wallet and I opened it up and I stared at my own picture of Beethoven inside my own wallet and I wondered to myself, "Is there something weird about carrying around a picture of Beethoven in your wallet?"
