Cause most people on here don't want/can't drive 4k. Also, the Asus PB287Q with the same panel is better. Stand has tilt and pivot, and includes VESA mounting.

It's an ASUS PB287Q.

60hz of 4k goodness with 1ms :)

I run triple 1080p with a single R9 290. Most people insist that this resolution is too high for a single card. And if you look at all the benchmarks, it is. But the big thing about benchmarks is that they only run the most demanding games on max settings. With most games the difference between 25 fps and 55 fps is no AA and medium settings instead of ultra. If Crysis 3 and DayZ are your favorite games, you're probably gonna have a bad time. But if you like to play Call of Duty and Battlefield, you should be able to get by just fine.

Closing statements: I honestly wouldn't recommend a triple monitor setup unless it really enhances the games you play. I only have my setup for iRacing and Assetto Corsa. Triple monitors make a world of difference in racing games. For shooting games, I don't even bother with eyefinity. 90% of people are much better off getting a single really good monitor than three okay monitors. I would highly recommend you look at this monitor or this monitor or this monitor before you jump into a triple 1440p setup.

If you still decide a triple setup is right for you, I would recommend no less than two R9 290's or two R9 290X's to power it.

I use this monitor for about a year now and love it. Really gorgeous vivid colors and 4k is so fucking beautiful. I have tried using 1440p monitors at 144hz and it is blurry and fuzzy looking not being 4k so wish I could give better input on that since it was hard to have an opinion. :(

I️ have this one, 28in 4K Asus. I️ love it.

Please don't go with a 30Hz monitor for gaming. That's literally hard capping your pc to 30fps. http://www.tested.com/tech/pcs/459878-dude-dont-get-dell-4k-monitor/

G-sync is out of the question then, Nvidia put a premium price for those. The lesser PB287Q is good.

Check out some of the new 4k monitors. Samsung, asus, and acer each have one that are cheaper, have more pixels, better response times, and still run at 60 hz. Only down side is most are TN so the colors are a little washed out, but totally worth it. I got mine for 350 on cyber Monday.

Or if you want to spend a little more (still less than the LG wide version) get the new Acer 4k with gsync support. This or the acer 1440p ROG 144hz monitors are the best monitors out:

BenQ PG2401PT - a bit over your budget bracket, but I think I would go for it personally if I could afford it. Reason for it being the 10bit panel (my new favorite). However, as with everything it has its drawbacks and for that monitor it's the size, only 24inches.

The PG monitor features a 10-bit IPS panel that uses a 14-bit 3D Look Up Table (LUT) to guarantee silky smooth color gradation on any image. The 10-bit panel can create more than one billion colors--64 times the amount of color available on an 8-bit panel, and with 14-bit processing capability, generates crisper definition and improved gray-level distinction. The 14-bit 3D Look Up Table (LUT), monitors improves RGB color blending accuracy, resulting in impeccable color and gray tone reproduction. Rated to 350 cd/m2 brightness, the monitor’s Brightness Uniformity Function enables PG series monitors to certify a consistent image across the entire display.

ASUS PB278Q 27-Inch - Almost 600 reviews and still sitting at 4.5/5 stars. Pretty lucky for you as the price on amazon.co.uk and amazon.com is almost the same, but the UK one is priced as £ (£465) instead of $($469). People who own it state its a good multi-purpose monitor. So even though it is a PLS monitor it should be fine.

ASUS PB287Q 28-Inch 4K - 4K version of the above monitor. 100 reviews, 4/5 stars.

Samsung 28-Inch 4K LED Monitor (U28D590D) - pretty decent looking monitor, but has mixed reviews so could be a gamble.

That's roughly it for now. Here's a pretty nice IPS monitor list with USD prices and some helpful notes. I got a few more monitors noted down, but they are gaming monitors with 144Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, G-sync etc.

I think it's worth checking out NEC monitors, which seem to be mega expensive, but offer amazing specs. As to Korean brands, I haven't looked around, have you found any good looking ones with decent specs?

As it stands the BenQ BL2710PT or Asus PB278Q are best choice for you, both 27 inch and 1440p. Also, since you aren't gaming then maybe have a look at 4K monitors? Obviously 4K requires a bit more powerful pc.

I just want s screen with marginal input lag, and all of those are still 1080p at 60hz.

Actually this one apparently only has 11ms of delay, so spensive tho.

price for the specs. The lag is a little high at 7ms, but I've just paid £400 for a NEW 28" monitor of similar specs & lower-design

Good call, I didn't even catch that. Would you recommend the ASUS PB287Q or the Samsung U28D590D?

u/FlamingLizardGaming · 2 pointsr/suggestapc

Sure, what games will you be playing? That will help me find one.

Knowing nothing about your gaming habits, this monitor
Is about the best you can buy. A really fast refresh rate (good for shooting games and competitive games like rainbow six siege, csgo, fortnite, pubg, overwatch, Fallout, pretty much any games) this monitor has a really high resolution compared to the standard 1080p monitor. It also has G-sync that makes games a lot smoother. (It only works with Nvidia gpus)

IF you want a cheaper monitor, then this 4K monitor is both bigger and has a much higher resolution (more detail) but a lower refresh rate, so the image won’t be as smooth and snappy (which isn’t important for games like WoW or Dota or more casual games like Strategy games or games like undertale/enter the gungeon)

You can always have one 4K or 1440p monitor and then a smaller or cheaper 1080p monitor next to it for YouTube videos or google while gaming.

(Lmao I should make an Amazon affiliate link and make some ca$h from this)

Also the 1440p Monitors are really good too, and a bit cheaper, if you go 4k MAKE SURE that your laptop and the monitor you choose can support 4k @ 60h, which requires a display port 1.2 connection.

u/Sgt_Slate · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I got a 60hz 4k monitor for under $600. Has been great so far with my new rig.

u/mammon43 · 1 pointr/overclocking

https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B00KJGY3TO?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image

This is my primary monitor, 60Hz refresh rate 1ms response time.

I play a lot of games. Destiny 2, battlefront, battlefield, civilization, farcry, assassins creed, borderlands, skyrim, kingdom come, gta, witcher, tomb raider, star wars old republic, thief, etc

I play all games on high or ultra with only things like super intensive hair or water effects turned off or lowered. I usually pull 45-75 fps on these games with those settings which is fine by me.

Exception to this being Assassins creed, witcher, destiny some days, and civilization. Civ i usually have to be on medium if its late game which is fine, destiny 2 really is all over the place but struggles to get over 24fps on medium. Assassins creed no setting is low enough to get it over like 16-19fps.

It was assassins creed and destiny that got me instructed to over clock

I bought the above one last year from Amazon, it swivels to portrait mode, it's 4k and works with USB-C to Display port from my 2017 27" iMac. Also the price was IMHO pretty cheap.

Very, very happy with it....

One issue you might have; it does not bother me; it is a widescreen monitor, so is very tall when in portrait (26" top to bottom, the stand allows you to lower almost to the desk level, bar 1.5cm, the stand base height).

for SLI 980s, I'd either get the ASUS ROG SWIFT 1440P monitor, or this one, which is what I currently have. Can't recommend it enough for someone who has the GPU power for it :D

u/aznpersuazn615 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I would rather buy the Asus PB287Q.

If you can live with paying $700+ for a G-Sync 4K monitor, go for it.

u/N0uri · 1 pointr/mac

Awesome, thanks for the article. I ended up going with this monitor. I was debating on a 1440p 144Hz, but I'm not really doing any intense gaming, and I would rather have the display closer to retina. I'm hoping the monitor I ordered is decent - the reviews are promising and I've always been a fan of ASUS. Reviews say its a good pairing with the MBP. Hopefully I don't run into the blurry text bug, but I'll keep that article in handy if that happens. Thanks again!

u/redditorsarefags2 · 1 pointr/PS4Pro

Thanks for reading. I got the Pro even without near plans for a compatible 4K tv too, although I think if I keep it I'll get a 4K 28" gaming monitor to hold me over.

u/paranoized · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

I have this one. Not sure if this is your price range but I can recommend it. Before my current monitor this was one monitors I had for a couple of days. It had coil whine in standby so I had to return it but mb it was just bad luck.

u/OMG2EZ · 1 pointr/buildapc

It was the 4k monitor with the TN panel that I linked. A 4K IPS monitor that size costs a lot more, no? Acer has a predator model with 32'' that costs 300ish Euro more, that's like 50%.
TN that bad in comparison?

I don't care much for widescreen gaming, right now I can't see myself play a game across 3 screens. The stuff I would play (Destiny 2, bigger single player titles like Mass Effect/Hellblade etc., old school stuff like Diablo 3) works fine on one screen. I wan't solid performance even when running a stream on another screen, that's the most important thing for me I guess. And I want that 4K HDR option for the really juicy titles the might come around this or next year.

Edit: This one looks good(?) - Not that expensive then after all.

u/SgtBeotch · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Again, go with a 32" if you prefer size over PPI

Keep in mind, this is pretty top end. It's overkill for those two games but will set you up nicely for pretty much any gaming you want to do.

You'll want to use DP for both, especially the 1440p144hz. I have a newer HDMI for my 4k60 monitor that can push the 60hz refresh rate. So that can work too. I think the newest HDMI can push 144hz but I could be mistaken. Regardless, go for DP.

u/Legolas125 · 1 pointr/buildapc

I found 2 pretty decent ones: Asus Monitor and Acer Monitor, Both being 4K monitors and 1ms response time the only benefit with the Acer is G-Sync which eliminates screen tearing, making the game look a little more smoother. As for whether or not you need a 4K the choice is completely up to you, depends on what your primary use of the PC will be.

u/bendvis · 1 pointr/buildapc

I really enjoy my Acer XB280HK. GSync is fantastic, but is only usable if you've got an NVidia card, and is only useful in games.

Prior to the XB, I had a Asus PB287Q that was also very good, though it suffered from a little light leakage when the screen was dark/black.

u/L064N · 1 pointr/buildapc

Yeah i'm considering that but I was leaning more towards a 4k monitor. The one you linked is 1440p oppose to 2160p like the one I linked to in the post. The ASUS PB287Q is 4k and it costs $560 and has similar specs to the Planar 4k monitor as far as I can tell.

u/Cigaro3 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Hey, First time builder. I am starting to look at BAPC and decided to just start taking a look at monitors. Looks like there are so many choices that it seems best to get this out of the way. Anywho, Im just looking to see how realistic my search is for a sexy monitor at a decent price:

  1. ultra-wide, 27", up to 4k
  2. Minimum bezels
  3. Curved(?)... probably too expensive.

Other than these aesthetics, Im not sure what else to look for...

  • G/free-sync?
  • Whats a good response time?
  • Whats a good refresh rate?

Purpose of the PC will be casual gaming, light productivity, watching shows. Id love to find something around $200. But I would go up to $400. (This might be overkill considering the PC budget will be $800-1000ish, If I can make it 4k compatible with decent FPS at this price point)

Tell me whats wrong with these examples:

Assuming low response time and not 4k?

    Is 60hz RR any good?

Lastly, 5ms RT when many monitors have 1ms?

I might just be over thinking it all but please let me know how my expectations are and if any example is actually a good monitor.

    Thanks for reading =D

Now then, on to the monitors. I'd go with a 2560x1440 144Hz monitor (known as 2k), a 3840x2160 monitor at 60Hz (known as 4k), or a set of three 1080p monitors.
It comes down to preference. The 1080p triple setup gives you more immersion, the 1440p will have clearer image quality, more frames a second and makes movement panning and motion blur more realistic, wile the 4k monitor gives you the best high quality graphics.

I have the ASUS PB287Q https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PB287Q-3840x2160-DisplayPort-Monitor/dp/B00KJGY3TO

At $349 it's one hell of a monitor. I paid $499 back in mid 2015. On mac OS there are plenty of scaling options and they all look really good.

Asus PB287Q

Solid choice monitor there. You could also go the 1440p/144hz route, which would make for a better gaming experience imo. Nice resolution and better refresh rate. Granted that's mostly down to the person. Some prefer a better resolution, some a better refresh rate. Puts ya right in the middle of both tho :P

Check r/monitors also, they're pretty handy over there.

u/Portgas · 1 pointr/hardware

These monitors aren't 4k. The first one is 1080p, the other one is 1440p. 144hz is display's refresh rate.

4k gaming works this way: You buy a 4k (3840X2160) monitor , like this one for example, set your game to this resolution and enjoy it. It's that simple. You also need a very powerful rig to run newer games in at least 30fps on 4k, though. With good i5/i7 cpu and gpu like 980ti or gtx 1080.

I should have added in that I want to buy the second console to play Overwatch with my daughter haha she's always hogging the setup to play on her account!

Idk how to say this without sounding like a jerk but my income level is such that I'm not stressed over buying a S now and a Scorpio next year and seeing that as a waste. Beyond the complaints of my wife (the boys and their toys complaint), I'm pretty good on that front lol.

Also I found a 4K monitor with a 1ms response time so I think I've sold myself on these purchases lol

The 970 just came out and it's only $339. That and a 4K monitor put you in the 2K range for a PC.

That market will soak it up soon and in six months those prices will drop. I think we're only a few years away from regular 4K gaming. I plan on buying a brand new PC the same week as Star Citizen comes out in 2015, it'll be capable of 4K.

This one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KJGY3TO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER is the same price as the 21:9 monitor, but does have a Vesa mount, and it can be found for $619 http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=AS-PB287Q&c=CJ or $609 with coupon code.

There's this one http://www.amazon.com/AOC-U2868PQU-Widescreen-1ms-Monitor/dp/B00M111J74/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1407353888&sr=1-2&keywords=4k+aoc for $562 total with Vesa mount but a thick bottom bezel.

There's even http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Monitor-P2815Q-years-warranty/dp/B00I0H9T5C/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1407353976&sr=1-1&keywords=4k+dell for $488, but I'm not sure on the quality versus the Samsung/Asus.

Acer is also going to be selling their B286HK for $600.

Well with a rig as powerful as this you're looking at running something in the 4k spectrum and those are about $700 by themselves.

Either that or you can do a 3x1440p setup with these which would be really neat.

Although 3x1080p at 120fps would be wicked...

But ya, this rig is pretty much meant to power a really high end display setup. Anything less and you should start shaving parts off.

It's going to be really hard to find a 27 inch 4K monitor with a super high refresh rate (5ms or less) at $400 - $450..

edit: check out this monitor on amazon

I've got one of these Asus monitors https://www.amazon.com/PB287Q-3840x2160-DisplayPort-Ergonomic-Back-lit/dp/B00KJGY3TO looking for 200, located in Ann Arbor if you're interested.

Even for 1440p monitors, there aren't many gsync for under 500. gsync is very expensive compared freesync, so for 4k i don't think you have the option for gsync if you want to keep under 500.

I'd go with this one although it's a bit under budget, you can get the 32 inch probably

With my build, would you go for a 1440p 144Hz setup, or would you go with a larger 4k 60Hz screen?

I don't play competitively or too many shooters...more games like witcher 3 and skyrim and the like.

Was maybe looking at something like: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PB287Q-3840x2160-DisplayPort-Monitor/dp/B00KJGY3TO/

Not sure if real but anyway...

For that money he will be able to build a "future proof"(I hate that word but have no substitution) build with intels x99 chip set. Just tell him to wait. However he can buy a GTX 800s or Radeon 300 series GPU soon with this Display
4K Resolution, 60Hz, 10 bit per channel from Asus at 666$

Not really for $2500 they would build a more powerful system.

http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcforme/comments/2jt4w3/gamingphotoshop_pc_for_around_1200/

iMac | Custom
---|---
$2500 | $2500
i5 | i7
Aircooled | Water
8GB RAM | 16GB
Mobile GPU M290X | GTX 970
1TB fusion | 1TB HDD +120GBSS +CHEAP EXPANSION
DVD-less | DVD writer

5k | DUAL 4k

The 5K iMac is a wonderful iMac but it is not as powerful as a custom built machine and it would cost more combine that with bad Windows scaling and it being so demanding chances are it'll be unusable for gaming and GPU intensive work. 4K monitors are pretty cheap nowadays and until content starts taking advantage 4K is pretty pointless
