Hey /u/benderzone, \^ that's a damned good build.

The only thing I'd mention is that the AMD Zen 2 architecture (3x00 series) is expected in June, so prices for the 2600X might drop a bit up to and around then. I don't think the drop will be more than $75 total between CPU and mobo, but keep it in mind and don't kick yourself over the price drop - just be sure to get that much enjoyment out of the system to make it worthwhile!

Another option is to get a replacement laptop. It's a bit more, but maybe you can sell your existing laptop and recoup some of the cost.

I don't follow gaming laptops much, so I can't recommend specific models, but this bad boy with a 2070 is under $1,900. If you can sell your existing system for $500+, it's not far away from the build-it-yourself approach above. You can get a laptop with a 1070 or 1080 for around $1200, which is still very viable for VR if you're on more of a budget.

The Rift S would work better on a laptop than an original Rift because it uses fewer USBs, and it would give you some of the portability of Quest without compromising on the VR experience.

Lots of options! Good luck, have fun.

Who said so I got a few ones for you the MECH-17 G1Rx, Asus ROG Strix Scar II and the AORUS 15-X9 .

Most complaints are about noise, whether it's speakers, coil whining, or fans. As far as I'm concerned, 1k for a 1050ti isn't what I'd be going for.

For $399 more you can get 200-250% better performance out of your gpu ->

This is one of the cheapest but best bang for the buck laptops I could find. The only issue is that there is a bit of trailing due to a response time of 20ms or smth. Not shabby if you're not into fps. I'd imagine anything else; vr, workstation, etc, is perfect.

Personally this is what I got:
Being a similar line-up: Yes, can get really loud. Performance and cooling are fine with me and everything for the most part hovers below 90c

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar II recently went on sale and is still available for an incredible price. I think it's best to see if you can beat this deal for Black Friday.

u/DarkWingedEagle · 2 pointsr/pcgaming

Amazon us has the Asus Strix Scar with a full 2070 for $1500 its normally a $2000 dollar laptop. Honestly you would be hard pressed to find better and it would be tough to build a better desktop for that price and near impossible including a comparable monitor. But it is at the top end of your price range. Honestly the only problem is it only has 512GB of onboard storage but a cheap usb c external ssd fixes that.

I'm not sure why this one hasn't sold out yet. I was kind of sold on the GS65 or the Triton. Otherwise, this seems like a solid deal.

Found two laptops that you could be interested in Acer Predator Laptop

Asus Rog Strix

1st one is cheaper but has a smaller 256gb m.2 ssd drive in it but is upgradable and has a secondary storage drive available to put a hdd in for larger capacity.

The 2nd laptop is a little more expensive than your 1500 budget but provides much better GPU power. Comes with 512 m.2 sdd and another storage drive slot.

All of them except the blade, gotta love them RTX cards. This one also just got reduced and I think it's worth a look

That is weird, how about this link ?

u/sandman539 · 2 pointsr/SuggestALaptop

Hi, if you would really like to Maximize gaming potential I saw Strix Scar II on sale on Amazon for 1400usd. It comes with 144hz screen, i7 8750h and a rtx 2070.

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-GeForce-i7-8750H-Windows-GL504GW-DS74/dp/B07MDDNCH2

It isn't too big, however it doesn't have amazing battery life, and under load it could be pretty loud.

I you woul buy get a model with 2 ram sticks, mine came with only 1 and is not as fast so I need to upgrade ram.

https://www.amazon.com/IPS-Type-GeForce-i7-8750H-Processor-Windows/dp/B07MDDNCH2?ref_=bl_dp_s_web_2528968011&th=1 i mainly looked on amazon for reviews and recently and some of there older laptops and the rtx seens to have screen bleed over heating and defective laptops alot

u/Speedwizard106 · 2 pointsr/GamingLaptops

For that price you should at least be getting a gtx 1070 or an rtx 2060, both significantly more powerful gpus. This is just a little pricier but comes with an rtx 2070. The one your looking at is highway robbery.

Is this a good price for the equipment I would be getting? Should I be waiting longer until Black Friday for a better deal?

u/Dopey314 · 1 pointr/LaptopDeals

Yeah I agree i'm just confused if this https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MDDNCH2/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 is the right way to go or to go for something with a 1660 ti for about 500 less, i dont even see this listed on most of these deal threads

u/rerun7 · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

I personally want this laptop lol. ASUS Strix Scar 2. Although it is 5.3 lbs it is made reliably and well. The cooling will be better and it is made by ASUS, a reliable brand

8750h rog with a 2070 and 144hz for like 1300 the 9750h is only a minor upgrade to the the 8750h the 2070 mobile smokes the 2060

u/KaboomOxyCln · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

I mean, I can't say less than a quarter of an inch thickness is worth a -22% performance hit. But to each their own.

Edit: Nice downvote. For anyone curious here are two laptops that are the same similar form factor but with 2070s for 50 and 100 more, Amazon, Newegg

u/daaangerz0ne · 1 pointr/SuggestALaptop

This is temporarily oos but can still be ordered. With a full sized 2070 (non Max-Q) it is the absolutely best specs you can get for the price.

This one has a 2070 max p so it has maybe a 10-15% performance drop compared to a full 2070.

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-GeForce-i7-8750H-Windows-GL504GW-DS74/dp/B07MDDNCH2/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=asus+scar+2+2070&qid=1573735198&sr=8-3

Asus has bad customer service sometimes.

These are two good options I could find with an rtx 2070 and meeting your budget and other stuff like refresh rate, Cpu etc. 8750h and 9750h are almost the same in terms of performance so don't worry about that. Good luck.

This Is a strixx hero lll that have everything you want except the extra hdd but I think you can buy a hdd online and place it in the laptop yourselves or you can get the legion y540 with a 2060 which is as powerful as a 1070 or you can get something less powerful but cheeper like a Acer Helios 300 with a 1660ti which is powerful enough to run modern warfare on ultra
