Audio Technica. This is a brand that deserves a lot more attention for making the best quality headphones at lower to mid price range...While searching for a good pair I checked amazon reviews and I had a hard time believing almost all their products had ratings of over 4.5 stars, from budget studio to ultra budget priced. Seriously, this is a company that leaves it's satisfied customers and product quality do the talking.

Edit: My co-worker has the ATH-M50 and they sound and feel GODLY, they deserve all the credit people are giving them... I still can't believe they are $120 headphones because the build and sound quality is unbelievable. Also, if you are a broke college student like me, you can't go wrong with the ATH-M20x or ATH-CKS55USBK in-ear earphones, just check the reviews.

u/vanoreo · 24 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Mouse: Logictech G502. It is widely considered to be the "best" mouse for PC enthusiasts.

Keyboard: Will heavily depend on your preferences, but I have a DASKeyboard 4 Ultimate with Cherry MX Blues (tactile click). I have also heard nice things about the Corsair K70, and Strafe. If you are new to mechanical keyboards, I would recommend checking out the subreddit /r/mechanicalkeyboards for more information.

Headset: I just use an old set of Turtle Beach X12s I've had forever, because I usually just use my soundbar, but a buddy of mine prefers to use a desk mic and some Audio-Technica headphones.

EDIT: Saw your budget in the other comments. You should probably go with the Strafe for your keyboard. Most others below $100 aren't as high of quality. Personally, I think you should get the Strafe, the G502, and the headphones/mic combo.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to visit it when I want to upgrade or need to replace. I just ordered these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HVLUR18/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Heard nothing but good reviews and I know the bran is up there with the best.

u/pursitofHappiness · 5 pointsr/buildapc

get a pair of good headphones and buy a separate mic. Most gaming headphones are shit. I have a pair of audio technica ath-m20x and I love them. They are very comfortable and sound good to me. Cord is a bit to long but other than that I cant think of any cons. http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M20x-Professional-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR18

u/Neo_007 · 5 pointsr/india

if you are a audiophile. Audio-Technicia is way to go. lower price version still little bit expensive but worth the price. you will not regreat.

u/yeah_it_was_personal · 4 pointsr/buildapcsales

So, my strongest recommendation is going to be to get a regular headset and run either the integrated mic if you're on a laptop, or use a cheapo USB mic. For whatever reason, headsets are more expensive for decent quality fidelity.

I'm going to circlejerk Sennheiser: $50, $70, also 70$

And AudioTechnica: 50$

Especially if you're planning on streaming, you can get a great non-mic OEs for midrange price, and splurge on the mic.

u/continuumdrag · 3 pointsr/podcasts

We are looking at setting up an very basic, in-home podcast studio. Would anyone mind weighing in on what we are considering?

The podcast is primarily two hosts with an occasional guest (3 ppl max). Its all conversational. It doesn't need to be perfect, we are just hoping for a reasonable audio quality. We aren't trying to break the bank. So my research has been low end but quality items.

Here is the purposed setup:

u/RyzaVisuals · 3 pointsr/Beatmatch

I use these I’ve had them for about 2 years now and can’t complain. Pretty durable and I use them for a lot of my mixing projects in school and out of school. Sound translates pretty well to different monitors and headphones.

u/outlooker707 · 3 pointsr/xbox360

this

or

this

I'd also recommend the MDR-V6 if you can find it on sale.

Those are good choices for $50. Unfortunately you cannot plug headphones into the xbox 360 cotroller, only the xbox one. The cheapest way to connect them is to use this. You will have to plug in the audio cables to this connector and then plug your headphones into the other end.

This wont work if your friend only has an hdmi cable, there is another way to connect them but you will have to spend another $50 for an adapter. Still I bet your friend would appreciate a nice pair of headphones that they can use with all other devices.

u/ma7ch · 3 pointsr/DotA2

I personally would go for a desktop microphone with a pair of nice headphones.

Blue Snowball Microphone (£49.99)

Audio-Technica ATH-M20X (£32.99)

u/FiiSKiiS · 2 pointsr/PUBATTLEGROUNDS

Depends what you want.

Personally, if you don't mind wired and using a secondary mic (you honestly should anyhow, headset mics blow), you can jump away from "gaming" models and get better quality for a better price. I used Audio-Technica ATH-M20x, which you can get for $50 of Amazon. They absolutely killed everything I've tried otherwise, including HyperX Clouds. They also have an extremely long cord.

I wanted a wireless set without breaking the bank and have been impressed with the Rig 800s. I can't recall exactly which version I have on those, but I got them on sale for ~$80 at Best Buy.

I matched them with a Behringer Ultravoice XM8500 for my mic, a USB to XLR cable, and a suspension boom stand, all toogether for under $40. The Behringer reviews as comparable to the Shure SM58, which costs five times as much.

Is there a massive difference between the Audio-Technica ATH-M30x and the Audio-Technica ATH-M20x? I'm looking for $50 headphones, but if the M30x is worth an extra $20 I can still buy it. I'm currently using these.
Edit: I found the Creative Aurvana Live! Headphones on Amazon for $60. I've heard amazing things about those.

I would go with Sennheiser or Audio Technica. I like Audio Technica more. This is what I ended up buying headphone wise and love it.

u/ship__ · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

These and these have active noise cancelling

However most closed back over ear headphones tend to have pretty good passive noise cancellation, so here are some.
1 2 3 4 5 6

I wouldn't recommend the Bluedio headphones if you have biggish ears, all the others look fine.

u/gregz83 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

I would consider; 1) switching to a USB wired mouse, 2) When you are using the RODE-NT USB microphone, don't use your USB headset, use audio-jack headphones.

This will reduce the chances of the wrong MIC confusing windows. Here are a few product suggestions:

It depends on your recording environment. If you are just starting out and are recording in a bedroom or office I recommend a cardiod dynamic. Cardiod refers to the pattern around the mic that it picks up. Cardiod mics are most sensitive right in front of them in contrast to omidirectional mics which are sensitive to sound from any direction. A dynamic mic isn't as sensitive as a condensor mic and doesn't pick up a lot of background noise.

If you are just starting out I recommend one of the following:

The first group is "as cheap as you can get" and still get decent quality. The second group is definitely a better setup.

Ethan cohost of the Shieldwall Podcast https://shieldwallpodcast.podbean.com

EDIT: The second group is definitely a better setup in that it allows you to upgrade down the road with better gear. If you have the money an Audio Technica ATR2100 or AT2005 would sound a good bit better in the second list than the XM8500. But do these sound 4 times better considering them being 3-4x the price? Hard to say.

Currently the ATH-M20x are available for 49.99 USD on amazon. Although I can't personally speak for them, the reviews appear solid. http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M20x-Professional-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR18

However, if you are looking for a gaming oriented headset the HyperX Cloud is available for 69.99 USD on amazon. Linus Tech Tips has a review as part of their "Stuff That Doesn't Suck" series.http://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL/dp/B00JJNQG98/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1413417923&sr=8-1&keywords=hyperx+cloud

Hi! I'm looking for closed on-ear headphones around ~£30-40 (45-60$). Initially, I was interested in Sony's MDR-XB450, but after a quick search it seems like bass is not very well defined, just loud. I'm mostly interested in a well resolved mid and low range, especially at high-bitrates (I usually listen in FLAC). I'm also planning to use them outside, so they need to be well isolated.

After browsing through this sub and head-fi.org, I've found the following options:

  1. Audio-Technica ATH-M20X: the only obvious problem with these is that the cable is too long! I couldn't find any cheap M40X's.

  2. Sennheiser 504291 HD 202: these are very cheap, but I don't think they are as good as option (1).

    Any suggestions?
u/tendeuchen · 2 pointsr/ToolBand

Have you used noise canceling headphones before? Because when I tried them they made my head hurt. It felt like extra pressure and a humming noise.

If you don't need the noise canceling feature, these Audio-Tecnica are good at that price point.

u/Bendix · 2 pointsr/headphones

It seems like there are a lot of questions today but I'll give it a shot.

u/[deleted] · 2 pointsr/audioengineering

For half the price of that speaker, you could get a pair of Audio Technica ATH M20 headphones.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00HVLUR18/ref=emc_b_5_mob_t

Even if you're not doing any mixing or mastering, a deep bassline won't come through on a Bluetooth speaker at all. Having something that can reproduce those low notes is important if you want to actually know what your track sounds like.

u/career_whatcareer · 2 pointsr/headphones

Thank you.

I looked it up, but still don't know what "Nuetral", "warm" etc. means in the context of music, without hearing it at least. Basically I just want to get something that "Brings the boom" like the MDR XB500's

To give an example, this is the "type" of bass I listen to. and would like a pair of headphones that really bring out the bass:

[Tyga-Faded] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbouTdwOrVw)(Don't care for the song, but like the bass)

Tech N9ne- On the Bible

Kutt Calhoun-Self Preservation

With that in mind, are the headphones you listed the best kind for the job?

Any of these good for the job?

If they work on a TV they will work with the console.

Hard to recommend without knowing a price range. I have what you might call a budget set:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HVLUR18/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They work fine.

u/Spearra · 1 pointr/GamingPeripherals

These rival even expensive headphones despite being relatively cheap. They are very well rounded, so bass, vocals, all of the pitches should all be relatively even.

u/NekoYuji · 1 pointr/gaming

I know for headphones a really good brand is Audio-Techina; their low end are about $50-100, great quality for the price. The ones I got are these https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00HVLUR18/ref=ya_aw_oh_bia_dp?ie=UTF8&psc=1

u/zerotrace · 1 pointr/razer

Does it need to come with a mic attached?

Add a ModMic and you're all set :)

u/RadiantArmadillo0 · 1 pointr/u_QuipA

I don't know much about headphones, but I have heard that Audio-Technica is a good brand. On close-back headphones under $100 there is a gap between $20 and $70. Thoughts on adding Audio-Technica ATH-M20x for $50 to fill the gap? The nicer pair of M40x is listed for $100 so I was thinking that this cheaper pair might fit well on the list!

u/EnglishTimelord · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

That link is I think from /g/, so it has that kind of tact to it.

However 5.1 and 7.1 headsets are pure gimmicks, stereo is great. Here, Here and Here are examples of what can be done through stereo in regards to positional sound.

For a mic you could use this and for the headphones these, these, these, these or these. Headsets that don't completely suck are these or these.

An $8 webcam makes a better mic than most headsets. A $60 set of headphones will likely be better than any headset.

Headsets/ Headphone & Mic combos are pretty much plug and play, right?

I use a TV as my monitor so I'm guessing I'll need an aux extender for each cord as well?

I plan to go with the below mic and headphones, any reason they won't work? They're all the budget allows for now, if I'm unsatisfied with the mic I'll consider an Antlion modmic in the future.

u/AdmiralSkippy · 1 pointr/headphones

The main thing for lying on the couch is them breaking under head weight over moving around. I can always readjust them, but if lying down breaks them that's not good lol.
Yeah I checked out the AKG ones and Amazon.com vs .ca is pretty comparable once you factor the exchange.
Otherwise there's services that you can send you packages to in the US and go pick them up. That's why the HD 558's look so attractive right now because after the exchange they're $105, even after fuel and parcel costs it would still cost less than $200.

My roommate has a pair of Audio Technica ATH M20x that I tried out and they were nice for music, but I found they were kind of flat for movies, just not much bass. That might be because I didn't change the settings on my amp though.
Like I said, the main thing I'm after is theater quality sound. Do you think I might get that with the HD 558 or 598?

u/Bribase · 1 pointr/starcitizen

It's always best to buy from the better headphone manufacturers. They're a known quantity and they've been making headphones for decades. Get the cheapest ones from Sennheiser, AKG, or Audio Technica. Then maybe add a cheap boom or label mic.

u/ma71in · 1 pointr/Guitar

I was look at these. Reviews are nice. Any rumors about the quality of these?

u/username1615 · 1 pointr/headphones

M20x is a pretty good option. The next step up is $70, for the M30x.

u/Polinot · 1 pointr/Guitar

> Something like the Line 6 Pod that has modeling options you can just plug in and play through.

Not sure what that means, but is this the right thing?

Would it be a good fit with these headphones?

Will I need any additional adapters or anything for everything to work?

I'm just blindly picking things due to my lack of knowledge. If there are better options in this price range please let me know :P

Tyvm for your help!

I just go an LP60-USB for Christmas and wanted to get headphones for it. I know it has a built in pre amp and could plug in directly using the LINE out from doing some research. I don't think I'll have a volume control though.

Do I need a headphone pre amp? Do I then need to use the Phono setting to turn off the pre amp?

Suggestions on head phone pre amps if I need one? My budget would be around $50.

u/Pud11es · 1 pointr/headphones

Hi there, I have a pair of AKG k44, and I'm looking to get a warmer sounding, comfier pair of cans for gaming, films etc... I'm looking at Ath m20xs but I don't see much buzz about them compared to Tascams or Monoprice stuff. should I buy a pair of budget headphones for daily drivers or get the m20xs?

They will likely never leave my computer desk, I'm not running an amp at the moment but I could run a scarlett 2i2 interface if i needed to

u/heavyxfriends · 1 pointr/buildapc

I'd go for a decent set of headphones and a seperate Mic. I have these Audio Technica M20x headphones, really good quality and nice long cord to tuck away. I pair these with a Blue Snowball Mic as its good quality but doesn't look out of place on a desk or tucked behind a monitor when not in use.

This combo is $10 over your max budget but really gives you the best of both worlds for a reasonable price, I personally couldn't reccomend any 'gaming headset'.

? nooo idea how these headphones sound but ive got m50x's and have heard tons about how m40x's sound and theyre both good

EDIT: the ? doesnt look like a link but it is i promise

u/Howl_XV · 1 pointr/lgg6

well for that price range, you won't get any killer sounds to take advantage of the quad dac if you have it, but you can get some great quality headphones. I really like Audio-Technica, with that price range you should be able to get good sound using this:

https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M20x-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR18/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1521884950&sr=8-3&keywords=audio+technica+headphones

Or these ones:

https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-AUD-ATHCKS550ISBK-Headphones-Microphone/dp/B018U5YJH6/ref=sr_1_141?ie=UTF8&qid=1521885067&sr=8-141&keywords=audio+technica+headphones

Obviously the over the ear headphones will sound better, but the "portability" quality is gone

u/lukelear · 1 pointr/WeAreTheMusicMakers

Here's my advice: Get a decent pair of headphones and a shabby pair of speakers. It doesn't have to be anything expensive. Buy this pair of headphones, this is what I use for basic tracking and what I used for a really long time just to mix with: Audio-Technica ATH-20x. These are by no means incredible headphones, they're not top-of-the-line, but they have a pretty decent and balanced sound to them and are going to be cans you'll want with you even if you're working in a super nice studio, if not just purely for reference.

Studio monitors are not the kind of thing you want to skimp out on and you're probably going to want to get at least a few years of use out of them. Save up your money and don't worry about it for now. You're just writing, you really don't need to make something that sounds SUPER professional right this second. Just don't make the mistake of skimping out and buying some cheap ass monitors that set you back and end up not even being very good.

This is pretty much what I did. I began work on my album using a crappy pair of speakers and the aforementioned headphones, saved up money, bought a nice pair of generation 1 Rokit 8's on a VERY nice deal I stumbled upon one day on Craigslist, bought a dedicated audio interface, and upgraded my headphones so that I have a pair of open-back cans to use for primary reference while using my old ATH-20xs for alternate reference.

It might not be the answer you want to hear, but I feel pretty good about how I decided to go about doing things, and studio monitors are definitely not the kinda thing to move in on when you only have a budget of 100-200 bucks.

I went back and re-worked my mixes on my studio monitors once I acquired them and I don't regret a thing. Like I said, all that crappy gear you were working on before will still be of some use when it comes to reference during mixing and/or mastering.

Good luck!

u/Skrolxplz · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Might I just ask, Why earbuds? If you're doing any gaming you're definitely going to want a decent mic and the ones on earbuds are complete crap. You know the brand Audio Technica, so why not get some of their headphones like these:

http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M20x-Professional-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR18/ref=sr_1_7?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1450737347&sr=1-7&keywords=audio+technica

Anyways, at the end of the day it does come down to personal preference and for some decent earbuds that will last a bit just get some Skullcandies . I know it might be a bit overpriced, but I've had a pair that I use daily, and they've lasted me for about a year.

u/Natemiester · 1 pointr/GiftofGames

Gaming headsets are overpriced. Buy a good set of headphones and either a clip-on mic, something like this, or an antlion modmic.

I, personally, use the Audio Technica M20x's with a removable cable mod, and this mic. Works like a charm.

You seem to have a pretty solid budget, so I would recommend buying the best headphones you can and pairing them with the modmic.

u/PCbuildScooby · 1 pointr/gaming

Personally, I would recommend avoiding gaming headsets as they tend to have worse sound than normal headphones.

My setup combines a decent studio headphone (has flatter EQ tuning so you can hear everything super clearly, THIS ONE is a really good option) with a Zalman mic that clips to the headphone cord.

This would leave you room to upgrade the mic later if you needed better sound.

If you're talking about using this for console gaming disregard this as I doubt you have a separate headphone and mic port.

u/kittysneeze88 · 1 pointr/HeadphoneAdvice

If you’re willing to go above your budget a little, and isolation is not as important, the Philips SHP9500 is the only one I can think of without a single reservation.

They are comfortable, durable, and replacing or upgrading cables is cheap/easy to find. They are only 32ohm and 101dB sensitivity, so they can run without the need for an external amp if you do not already have one. They offer a wide soundstage and strong bass response, which make them well suited for watching movies and playing games—as well as music.

The only caveat is that they are open-back and therefore do not isolate very well. If you intend to use them indoors or at home, and disturbing others is a non-issue, then I would go with these. If those are considerations for you, then I’d consider the Audio Technica M20x. If you can stretch a bit, or find a refurbished version on Amazon . the M40x is a much better iteration. The Sony 7605 is also great but is about $80.

u/sk9592 · 1 pointr/buildapc

Everything on your son's list looks pretty reasonably to me. Nothing is outrageously expensive for the use case, and I don't see any glaring errors.

I do have a couple points to bring up. They don't necessarily mean that your son is wrong, but they are just things I would do differently.

Headset - I don't have a good opinion of Razer at all. They tend to have terrible quality control and a high failure rate in their products after just 1-2 years of use. In this price range, you may be able to find the Kingston HyperX Cloud on sale. Better yet, if your son only needs headphones and not a headset (he is already getting a separate mic), there are much better options for $50.

https://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Core-Gaming-Headset/dp/B0153XL4V2/

https://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M20x-Professional-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR18

https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-H840-Audiophile-Over-Headphones/dp/B01J7K0OYU

Mic - I get that the Blue Snowball is a super popular mic, but I think it's overrated. Especially if you plan to mostly use it for talking. In general, I try to avoid condenser mics because I don't like how much background noise they pick up. If you're primarily doing instrument recordings, then the extra sensitivity of a condenser mic is good. But if you mostly want to record yourself talking then a dynamic mic will be much cleaner.

Check out the Samson Q2U or Audio Technica AT2005USB

https://www.amazon.com/Technica-AT2005USB-Handheld-Dynamic-Microphone/dp/B007JX8O0Y/

Mic Stand - I own this exact same mic stand. It is pretty decent for the price. Just be aware that it mounts to your desk. In the google doc, you wrote that it is a "wall mount", it is not.

u/DoctorsHateMe- · 1 pointr/headphones

I need to choose between these two headphones, but if there is a better pair for $50, then I am open to change.

I want great portable music audio wherever I go, but audio technica has too long of a cord. And the Avantree is of questionable audio (I don't know the quality).

u/zakabog · 1 pointr/pcmasterrace

Get a decent pair of headphones and a separate microphone. As far as noise cancellation are you referring to getting rid of external noise on the microphone or through the headphones? If you mean headphones then pickup a good set of closed back headphones, if you mean microphone then pickup something like a lavalier microphone and turn down your input gain, it'll greatly reduce the amount of outside noise your microphone picks up.

I've looked through all the suggestions I've been given here, and it seems like audio technica is s good brand to choose from. I really have my heart set on over ear headphones, and I also wanted to stay within my budget.

This woud be a pretty nice setup for $360:

  • Behringer U-Control UCA202 $30
  • Swan Speakers - M50W 2.1 System $280
  • Audio-Technica ATH-M20x headphones $50

The Behringer U-Control is a good DAC that you can connect your active 2.1 loudspeakers to. It has a headphone output that is powerful enough medium impedance headphones like the ATH-M20x. The majority of the budget goes where it matters most (the speakers) and you don't pay a lot of money on features you don't need.
u/evil-prince · 1 pointr/india

Check out Audio-Technica ATH-M20x seems the best you can get in mid-range from the reviews.

You can check out Sony products as well. They tend to last longer, unless you're going for their basic models. Cousin has [Sony MDR-XB450] (https://www.amazon.in/dp/B00NFJGUPW/ref=dp_cerb_3). Running fine since almost two years, tbf I found it better than Sennhieser HD 202.

Sony Extra Bass MDR-XB550AP looks good as well.

PS: Non-affiliated links.

u/T-MinusGiraffe · 1 pointr/podcasting

One of these two.

Monoprice
I used these for a while and for under $20 they're a miracle.

Audiotechnica Ath-20x
I haven't used this specific model but I've used others from the series and they're great, and these are well-reviewed as reference cans under $50.

You're not wrong either, the Sennheiser HD 202 II is just awful. Do yourself a favor and go with these

I got myself a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M20x for headphones and a Blue Snowball for a mic. I highly recommend both.

u/TechnoArsonist · 1 pointr/headphones

Superlux HD 681, Audio-Technica ATH-M20x, or Sennheiser HD 419. Budget of $50. Any response is appreciated.

u/crowbahr · 1 pointr/buildapc

Do you have a laptop you're doing this on?

If not I would stay away from USB.

Audio Technica makes some good cheap headphones that are industry standard in recording and radio. They're pretty BIFL.

As for the mic that's kinda your choice. I have a mod mic but I got it when they were $15 and they're more than that now.

u/ShearMe · 1 pointr/headphones

Well then, M20X?

u/Neuroxian · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

Right now I'm looking at these

Audio-Technica ATH-M20X Professional Headphones - Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00HVLUR18/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_koBcAbJEYD9RD

My stereo ones were much cheaper so that probably played a part in why they were so bad haha.

Music wise it doesn't matter, I'm not an audiophile so most sound the same, but for CSGO I'd like better clarity.

My budget is £50/£70 so if you could recommend me something around that price range I'd be grateful!

Budget: <50 euros if possible

Source: PC, Smartphone

Isolation: im indifferent

Will you be using this headphones in public: yes

Preferred type of headphones: Only over ears

Preferred type of headphone: Bassy - Balanced

Past headphones: Hyperx cloud 2, JBL T210.

Preferred music: Jazz, Lo-fi, Chill, Electro swing, but even sometimes rock.

Hey guys if anyone has reccomendations for me that would be great.

Im trying to find an over ear headphones. Maybe Bluetooth would be nice as im going to use this while commuting as well, but i wouldn't mind having a wired one if the performance is worth the hassle.

im going to use these headphones for long periods of time so i would really want to avoid any sort of in ears or on ear headphones because those things hurt like hell after youve used them for a few hours.

Im considering:

What's the best bang for buck budget cans for recording?

I'm helping a friend buy gear for a small budget studio and we're gonna need like 8 or 9 pair of headphones. They gotta be decent enough to record with, but don't have to be crazy good quality, and we're on kind of a tight budget.

Thinking ATH-M20x, whatchu think?

u/Wydrfell · 1 pointr/headphones

Budget - $50 to 70

Source - Computer and sometimes phone (Xiaomi Redmi Note 2)

Requirements for Isolation - Working in my living room noisy parents and the banging of pots while cooking and naming new children (i'm chinese). but tbh its more for drowning out my parents chatting or my dad playing videos on his speaker beside me

Preferred Type of Headphone - over ear Circumaural design, need to be comfortable.

Preferred tonal balance - overall balanced or smooth mids (not too picky)

Past headphones - Steelseries Flux IEM (best sounding earphone's i have ever used), beyerdynamic mmx 101ie (a tad too bassy), Xiaomi Piston III (the closest i could get to the likeness of the steelseries flux iem), Xiaomi Hybrid Earphones (similar to Piston III, but i like the build quality a lot better; piston III for sound quality tho)

Preferred Music - Listen to pretty much everything TBH i can't single out a particular genre

What would you like to improve on from your set-up - Looking for a over ear Circumaural headphone with a very wide open sound stage.
These are more for studying, i want the sound to be more natural and not feel like its inside my head (if that makes sense). In terms of isolation, it needs to be there but doesnt need to be super great(again i hope that makes sense). I have an Amazon gift card so im limiting my search to amazon canada.

Headphones i've looked at:

https://www.amazon.ca/Audio-Technica-ATH-M20x-Professional-Headphones/dp/B00HVLUR18/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484427734&sr=8-1&keywords=audio+technica+ath+m20x

any suggestions are welcome so long as i can find them on amazon canada. If any one can offer any insight on the soundstage of the headphones i linked that would also be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all in advance!

Don’t get earphones if you plan to use them for long periods , at least for me they hurt my ear after a while , and I’m pretty sure there is some evidence that suggests over the ears are much better for you

I suggest you get a good pair of non-gaming headphones , gaming headphones below 3-4K are just a gimmick to sell you cheap sounding cans
