I'm diabetic too but am just in my first trimester so I can't offer you much in the way of delivering a big baby. My high-risk OB did warn me that an early induction is possible in my case, and C-section is also a possibility depending on size. Many diabetics go on to deliver healthy happy babies, even if they are on the larger end! Do you have GD? If you have T2 or T1 there's a great book out there on the pregnancy experience called Balancing Pregnancy With Pre-Existing Diabetes

As for your numbers, your post meal numbers are good! I think you should be proud of those. My only suggestion would be if you're not already testing before meals I would try that out, since that might help you pin down where your blood sugars are running high. If you're trying to hunt down sneaky spikes I can tell you I always spike in early morning (well before I eat), and my BG spikes well after the usual 2 hours if I have a high fat meal (pizza is the biggest culprit). Hope that helps. And congrats! You're getting close. :)

I check so frequently that if I see my numbers start to rise, I'll bolus more. I've slowly been increasing my basal insulin and at this point I'm probably taking bolus injections 10+ times per day. For me it needs a constant vigilance to keep things in check with all of the fluctuations. When I get a high, I don't freak out....I'll just correct and move on. If my sugars don't budge, I'll go for a walk or get on the elliptical for 20 minutes and that usually helps. I have also significantly changed my diet and stocked up/baked lots of low carb snacks so that I have plenty of things around me to eat that won't give me issues. It definitely requires much more work than it did before pregnancy, but I know it's only temporary and there is the light at the end of the tunnel! I'm also counting down the days to the sweet spot post delivery where insulin needs significantly decrease and you can eat what you want for a little while. I would recommend finding a MFM/perinatologist soon after you get pregnant, because your blood sugars will likely start going crazy fairly quickly. I think I first saw mine around 8 weeks. I also rented this book from amazon shortly after my blood sugars started fluctuating and it was very helpful and reassuring.

It's great that you have a CGM! I think I'd be lost without mine. I also have a tracking app which is really helpful to see the trends and how things are working for me at a glance. I input what I eat, how much insulin I take, and the exercise that I do. I think one of the biggest helps has been walking almost every day. It's amazing how much a simple walk can do to help my body use the insulin better.

Something about taking control of your body and blood sugar management helps calm the anxiety for me. I don't spend my energy worrying, I just focus on what I can do to be as healthy as I can for me and my little one. Just hang in there and try not to worry. If you end up getting pregnant, you're going to have to take double and maybe triple the amount of insulin and probably adjust your lifestyle a bit. It'll all be worth it in the end. All you can do is try your best and pay attention to the tools and trends to manage your diabetes. You've got this!
