It looks like a little clogged pore or an ingrown hair.

If it doesn’t really bother you, you can just leave it alone. It’s not something harmful.

But, if it bothers you and you want it to go away, it’s not going to go away until you get the “core” out. You can try doing hot, moist compresses for 15-20 minutes at a time.

If a day or two of that doesn’t yield any results I’d go in with the big guns. If you have a few bucks to spare you could get an extraction tool. Otherwise you can do the same thing with just your thumbnails.

After a hot, moist compress thoroughly wash your hands. Clean the spot and surrounding area with alcohol as well as the tool, if using one.

Using your thumbnails you put one nail on each side of the bump a bit away from it and push down deeply as hard as you can while pushing in and up toward the bump. Your nails should hopefully get underneath whatever is in there are force it to the surface.

If using the extraction tool, you kind of center the bump in the loop and then press down deeply as hard as you can while sliding the edge of the loop toward the bump.

If you don’t get anything out but the bump opens up, this could still be considered a success. Keep it clean and keep doing the hot, moist compresses and hopefully now that it’s open the core will work its way out. Be sure to keep it clean and wash your hands before touching it.

I’ve also had success with clearing up something like this, once it’s open, with the splinter theory. Just put a thick blob of antibiotic ointment on it and cover it with a bandaid and the core will work its way out like a splinter. Once you see whatever the core is (hair, hardened sebum, etc) you can grip it with tweezers and remove it.

I’m no dermatologist but I have very fair skin and am prone to ingrown hairs and little clogged pores, etc. And since things like that bother me I’ve pretty much become a self extraction master.
