This book is an excellent introduction to game development that just also happens to be about creating Android games.
Once you've made it through the book, you'll have a good grasp of 2D physics (for games), OpenGL ES, and you'll fully understand libgdx, a java game development framework. The author of this book is also the creator of libgdx, and throughout the book you're actually building a scaled-down libgdx from the ground-up.
You won't be disappointed.
