I used this in the past and it was great, no issues. 10bit rec 709 and sRGB. Only thing is I had to tell resolve to output monitoring at HD 60i in the project settings, (through BMD mini monitor) then go and back and tell it to play back at 23.98 as the monitor only seems to like 60hz. http://www.benq.us/product/monitor/pd2700q/ https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K1INYWG/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Still had to calibrate it with displayCal and and Color Munki then have Resolve use that monitoring LUT.

I need to buy a monitor for editing photos. I'm an amateur, but take pictures frequently and avidly. My budget is about $300. Does anyone know if this monitor from BenQ would be a good choice? https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-2560x1440-PD2700Q-Animation-Flicker-Free/dp/B01K1INYWG/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1541441876&sr=1-5&keywords=monitor+for+photo+editing

Would I be better off getting this lower cost monitor but also getting a DataColorSpyder to calibrate the monitor? https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-GW2760HL-1080p-monitor-Bezel/dp/B06XT58FMC/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1541441876&sr=1-3&keywords=monitor+for+photo+editing

If anyone has experience with purchasing a monitor, I'd so appreciate your input!

You don't need a gaming monitor for video editing. You need accurate color reproduction. Your monitor only produces 82% of the RGB spectrum. That's HORRIBLE for video editing and color correction! I recommend the following:

Dell P2715Q 27"

ASUS PA248Q 24" ProArt

BenQ 27" 2560x1440 QHD IPS Designer Monitor (PD2700Q)

The MORE cores you have the MORE RAM you'll need to be able to USE those cores effectively. You DON'T want the CPU to address less than 2 GB's per core. It will end up negating the reason you even have all those cores. Build for the amount of RAM you can afford. The sweet spot is 4GB's per core. So if you have 12 cores (6 physical + 6 threaded) you'll need 12 x 4GB's. 48 GB's would be your MINIMUM.

ANY system built with the proper balance of RAM, CPU and Storage bandwidth can handle proxied 6.5k footage, let alone 4k compressed footage. The CPU and GPU DOES NOT MATTER as long as the CPU has enough RAM to address, and the GPU has enough stream processors for accelerating effects. That inlcudes CUDA cores. That means... just about ANY CPU and GPU combo from the last 4 years is capable... so as long as you have enough RAM and Fast storage you will be fine. Stop listening to gamers for advice. Listen to editors who know the difference. Many editors here MAKE MONEY for a living with rigs that allow them to do their JOB.

YOU WANT FAST STORAGE!!! Don't put your OS on the fast storage. It's not needed. Please see the wiki for more info.

Something like those two would work. If you're doing professional editing, you want a probably want a 1440p IPS panel. TN panels have slightly washed out color so I don't recommend em for photo editing and stuff, but like I work/game on a 500 dollar 1440p 144HZ TN panel and I think it looks perfect.

The thing to keep in mind is most screens look washed out, out of the box, so always try to look up a particular model and what calibrations it could take to give a sharper color. It's a really easy setup.

Well what size desk area do you have?

If you don't mind old design this is good monitor for $299 in US. Hint: You can check 32" monitor too if bigger monitor is not a problem.

hmm i started out with a 65Hz monitor at 1080p and i had the same dilemma of either going for aesthetics or pure gaming performance. I went with gaming peformance and got a 180hz monitor and the difference is night and day.

Now im aiming to get a 2k monitor that is purely for aesthetics - like a benq 2K IPS 100% colour monitor.

So my suggestion is either go for a gaming one or go for an aesthetics one for single player games and movies etc.

You got me looking a bit deeper now. This BenQ monitor seems like a nice in-between. It's QHD instead of UHD, and 10-bit. The 24" is well within my budget, but the 27" is juuust outside of it. I'd have a hard time deciding between the two. What's your opinion on this one?

u/paneerlegend · 1 pointr/buildapcsales

Found two close ones without BF discounts though, one’s 32” Samsung but I like the BenQ design much better, even though it’s 27” and both don’t have thin bezels.

What do you guys think?

13% is nice, but not usually a big enough deal to hop on something before you actually need it. If you need a monitor now, then jump on it. If not, then maybe price shop for the next week or two.

I linked a few other monitors I liked. I don't know if they're priced similarly for you, but you can decide:

Haven't quite made a decision yet, but I'm looking between these 3:

Dell UP2516D

Benq PD2700Q

ASUS PB278Q

I'm on a budget below $400, so keep that in mind. I'm leaning toward the asus, and the benq. Less so the Dell, and the reason being that there are many reports of blacks showing up poorly due to backlight bleed I believe. However, other than that it's apparently pretty good.

The two others are cheaper and don't seem to have any outstanding problems like the dell has, but I'm still unsure of the color reproduction. Here are the reviews for all 3 so you can read up a bit on them yourself (also let me know what you get when you do, and how you like the monitor you chose :).)

The Asus and Dell review are about half way through the review onto the color quality section, but make sure you check the whole review for more info:

EDIT: Found this review for the benq and changed my opinion due to the very poor color accuracy http://www.pcmag.com/review/350627/benq-pd2700q-designer-monitor. Hope it helps!

It doesn't have USB-c but using your hub you should be able to get 1440p 60Hz on this. It's supposed to cover 100% of srgb and rec 709 color gamut and 1440p is a good resolution at 27"
