Wide colour gamut is just part of the full HDR experience.

The "Ultra HD Premium" spec that 4K TVs use requires 10-bit panels, Rec. 2020 colour space, and at least 1000 cd/m^2 of brightness - which is done with a full array of dimming backlights, to avoid any halo effect.

You will not get that with €300.

There are monitors that have what I call "meme HDR", where all they have is 400-500 cd/m^2 of brightness compared to the standard 250.

For €300, you will get a good 8-bit sRGB 1440p 60hz IPS monitor. No HDR*.

Because of how HDR works, any content you create that's viewed by non-HDR audiences will be have to be tone mapped, or everything will look dark because of how the contrast values are compressed on non-HDR displays.

If you are looking for a monitor with just a wider colour gamut(10-bit or 1.07 billion colours), that is not the same as looking for an HDR monitor.

*The Dell U2518D uses "Dell HDR", which is HDR10 compatible, but based on this review, it's glitchy. Just another reminder of how messy HDR is.

The Dell S2719DC is a 27" 1440p IPS 60hz "HDR600" monitor, which is a harder spec for manufacturers to abuse/mislead people with. It has 90% DCI P3 colour space coverage, and is 8 bit+FRC.

It costs €440.

Then there's the BenQ SW2700PT, a 27" 1440p IPS 60hz 10-bit panel with 99% Adobe RGB colour space coverage.

It costs €660.

>My workflow involves exactly this. I always work in sRGB for digital devices, never above. Let me put it this way then: higher color gamut displays allow more accurate content /to be/ displayed. People definitely don’t use 125%, DCIP3, Adobe RGB, or Prophoto on their displays with tailored content regularly. But it’s especially useful for print as it can be more accurate to the printed piece.

Knowing your Budget actually is very important before we can recommend any monitors :)

I bought myself this monitor lately and I am very satisfied:

If I would have had more budget, I'd have bought this one: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01M0Q6YLY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_zMXMDb0WHWKBV
