I just bought this one and have been super happy with it. Exactly $200, has a ton of good reviews and it’s the official monitor for some esports tournaments.

What's not to believe? You can look up independent testing on various monitors. 1-3ms response time
monitors have been widely available for quite some time and used for just about every other competitive game that's not melee or smash 64, the melee community has been extremely slow to adopt because of price, misinformation, and the misconception that all non CRT monitors are terrible. Truth is there's plenty of laggy CRT monitors out there.

CRT are so prevalent because they're cheap as hell so getting together a few hundred is no problem, whereas 200 high end monitors would run you about $40,000, which is pretty impossible for a grass roots community. Not to mention there's zero risk of someone stealing your old heavy CRT, and a potentially high risk of your nice new ASUS monitor being stolen, or broken, if it is tipped over, dropped, etc .

There's quite a few monitors out there that are perfect for melee BenQ is just the name that's most common.

Here's one in a good price range

Higher quality than the previous, more expensive though

Independent testing of a BenQ monitor, 1ms response time

Good choices for 144hz 1080p TN panels are ASUS VG248QE and BENQ 2411z. Check for BENQ refurb deals, I got my 2411z refurb from benq.com 2 years ago and i love it, no issues.

and btw 5ms is no big deal, you will not notice, anything under 10ms is definitely acceptable. This video explains everything you need to know: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ER1YV42iqrE You can't trust what manufactures put in the specs, just read reviews and use 3rd party testing results such as https://displaylag.com/display-database/ if you are worried about ghosting

u/GJB_93 · 5 pointsr/Competitiveoverwatch

As was mentioned, you won't find one under £150. Some recommended entry level 144Hz monitors would be:

BenQ Zowie XL2411

ASUS VG248QE

AOC G2460PF

The AOC is the one I have, mainly because it was the cheapest of the three at the time. Have no issues with it, Freesync is nice for the price, although I can't make use of it.

Obligatory 'this is my monitor and I love it': https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-XL2411P-Response-eQualizer-Adjustable/dp/B01H5KKQTM

Saw that it wasn't suggested yet so I thought I'd throw it in there. Good image quality, good aesthetics and a super sturdy stand. Plus you get that BenQ street cred.

I would say that these 3 monitors are some of the best, if not the best that you could buy for 1080P gaming @144hz. I have owned all 3, and even used them back when I still had a GTX 1080 like you have. If you are on a budget, I would go with the Acer. If you have the money to spend and want an overall better monitor, then the Asus is the way to go. Not really a reason to buy the Zowie anymore IMO, for the price you might as well just spend a bit more and get the Asus (when I bought my Zowie, that current Asus model was not available). And trust me, you will not have a great overall experience playing 1440P BDO with a GTX 1080. Maybe if you have a 9th gen CPU it could be a little better. I have a GTX 2080 TI and I7 7700k and I can't pull 144fps/144hz in many places, especially not in NW/anything more than smallscale PVP.

This pc is small enough to carry around in your back pack but strong enough to get ultra settings 60fps 1080p. I took into account your requests and gave my best shot at it. I'll start with the CPU. The ryzen 1500x can deliver on games and also is equipped with a stock clock of 3.5 ghz so you really don't have to overclock and comes with a pretty nice stock cooler. The motherboard includes wifi as an added bonus and the ram is a pretty fast 16gb ddr4 3000. The gpu is a 1070 which seems small but is actually pretty powerful when it comes to games. I managed to get a 480gb ssd for storage and a fully modular power supply for easy cable management. I really wouldn't overclock in a mitx build since they tend to get hot because of the small space.

Here's a monitor recommendation
https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01H5KKQTM/?tag=pcp0f-20

Edit- also the corsair strafe mechanical keyboard is nice as well and if you need me to fit these two in the budget I can find a way
u/scraynes · 3 pointsr/battlestations

Sure. See below.

ASUS VG248QE - This is what I have, because I got it for $188 from Best Buy. Best buy tends to usually have a good deal on this monitor, so keep an eye on that.

The famous BenQ XL2411 - I've heard this is the best 144 on the market. I've never used it per say, but I love the design but it's not worth the extra money(I got my other one for much much cheaper) so I never got to use this.

Acer GN246HL - This is a very low-end 144hz and some people have it, but it doesn't have much with it (adjustments etc).

The Asus one is heavy, so if you use monitor mounts, make sure they're secure.

u/RicePower90 · 3 pointsr/laptops

I've had mine for about a month and I'm also in college as well.

  • Battery life is absolute shit, the battery lasts about 3 hours on a full charge, turning on battery saver doesn't seem to help that much. If you ever get this, just make sure you have your charger at all times.

  • This build quality is nice, doesn't feel like some cheap laptop, as it should be cause its 1000 dollars. As I said I've only had it for about a month but everything works fine so far. The webcam doesn't seem to work when I got mine but I don't need it anyway so I didn't bother to get mine replaced, plus I like to have it off.

  • I don't really know much about screen quality, for me every monitor seems the same lel. I have a Benq gaming monitor that I use most of the time with my main rig and I honestly can't see the difference between that and this laptop display, and apprently people say the screen quality for that monitor isnt the best, sooo yea.

  • Thermals seems fine. CPU idle temps at 42 and GPU idle temps at 39. I haven't had long gaming sessions on this device so I don't really know how the thermals will be in-game. Although I did test it out on fortnite when I got it for around 10 mins and the temps seems to be in the mid to high 70s.

  • I don't really know what the differences from a k570 is but looking at the specs the k571 is just a upgraded version of the k570.

I don't use this machine for video editing and haven't really used it for gaming yet. But with an i7-9750H and 16 GB of Ram paired with a GTX 1650 you should be fine with whatever you are doing. The 120HZ Screen will be amazing for gaming. Oh and also the battery seems to charge pretty fast. Overall this is a pretty good laptop but if all you want is raw performance, there are cheaper laptops out there with a GTX 1060 that will have better performance.
u/Uncle_Blayzer · 3 pointsr/battlestations

I think the best choice for you would be a 24" 1080p 144hz monitor. With your build, you'll be able to play new games on maximum graphics settings for years to come at this resolution, and you'lll be able to take full advantage of the refresh rate. You should be getting well over 100FPS in games like Borderlands. Furthermore, a top of the line monitor with these specifications shouldn't break your budget. I'm not sure if prices are higher in the UK, but you can get a top of the line one in the U.S. for around $200, which is roughly £150.

Keep in mind that many 144hz monitors are set to 60hz as the factory default, so you may need to open the menu with the physical buttons on the monitor and switch the refresh rate to 144hz. You'll also likely need to enable this in your display settings on your PC. It's a simple process you'll be able to figure out with a quick google search.

Of course, there are a lot of subjective factors to choosing a monitor that have to do with personal preference as well. I'd suggest asking your boyfriend what size his monitor is if you don't know already. You may decide you want something larger if that's what you're already accustomed to.

Here are some great choices:
BenQ ZOWIE XL2411P

AOC G2460PF

ViewSonic XG2401

Sorry for the long response time. IPS panels have better colors and viewing angles. TN panels on the other hand have higher refresh rates and response times.

You have to pick one or the other at this price range though. I however prefer TN panels because I like the smooth 144hz refresh rates and 1ms response times. You on the other hand might want the better colors.

Here are some IPS monitors that are recommended often.

u/TrapStar11690 · 3 pointsr/Competitiveoverwatch

I use this:
https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-XL2411-Professional-1920x1080-Response/dp/B01H5KKQTM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498418885&sr=8-1&keywords=zowie+144hz+monitor

This is basic, the build is extremely sturdy, and it has been running well for many months now. The blur reduction is nice. It sets the led's to the refresh rate at the expense of some backlight brightness, which works out if you are not playing in a fully lit room as it would be too bright for most gamers' comfortable level of light

One criticism I can think of, if any, is that the case isn't perfectly rectangular so if you have two of them it wont look like some kind of long black bar or something because there is an aesthetically pleasing corner where the buttons are placed that you can see in the picture . But it's a monitor that looks like it wont break and seems to be used by many pros

u/esskay04 · 3 pointsr/Competitiveoverwatch

Any opinions on which 144Hz monitors are bestfor overwatch. With some research I find that these two get mentioned quite a bit:

u/kmelloh · 2 pointsr/buildapc

The BenQ I use I would highly recommend. It doesn’t do 4K so that may be a drawback but for what I use it for (casual pc gaming, competitive console FPS,) it’s perfect.

u/Anitaliandude · 2 pointsr/Monitors

You have to check the specs on that monitor too. It doesn't look like a gaming monitor at all. If the response time is not 1 ms ditch it.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01H5KKQTM/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526129021&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=xl2411+benq

The one I linked is an E-sports monitor with adjustable height that can both play at 144Hz and at 60Hz.

Go for it if wanna game, there are also similar alternatives with gaming sync for even less.

u/TopShelfPrivilege · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H5KKQTM/

That's comparable to the price. I have the 27" S-Switch model, the colors are decent (the 24" has "color vibrance" according to the chart and the 27" doesn't), I do miss my old IPS monitors though.

u/Thaurane · 2 pointsr/buildapc

I personally own this one. https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Response-Equalizer-Vibrance-Adjustable/dp/B01H5KKQTM

Pros: Its $200 144hz 1080p. It works and I've had no unfix-able issues. The monitor's stand is adjustable.

cons: Its very, very white. The default colors just simply suck. You end up having to go into the color settings and fixing it. There is a fix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOUUpwBOJVM but even after doing that it still seems a little bright. Its bezel is also pretty big.

Overall its ok. Get this one if you can't find an alternative.

Few changes made!

u/Marcopolo1 · 2 pointsr/buildapc
  • Like other people have said, you don't want to get an overclockable CPU like the 7700k and then get a motherboard that does not support overclocking. Stick with the z270 chipset if you decide on a k-series CPU.

  • Stick to air cooling for a first build and you can always upgrade later.

  • Definitely downgrade your PSU, but I would say 650W so you can carry it to your next build for sure.

  • 100% get a 1080p 144hz monitor. Personally I think 1440p 144hz monitors are priced at waaaay too much at a premium for what they provide over 1080p. You pay 150 dollars for a bit more resolution. Get a 1080p 144hz and save up for a 4k at a later date. Highly reccommend

Notes:

The original motherboard you selected doesn't support overclocking, I've replaced it with a motherboard that does. In addition, this board also has built-in WiFi which replaced the internal WiFi card you had on your list originally.
I removed Windows from your list of items, non-activated Windows runs nearly identically to activated Windows. You can read about that here. It seems like a good way to save some money until you have some more room to spend.
Picked a speedier kit of RAM for about $20 additional.
Added a 1TB Seagate HDD to your build since it's unlikely that a 250GB SSD will give you enough room for your games and video footage. The 2TB HDD is only +$30 additional for reference.
I hope you didn't want it to be $2000 after tax, because 120Hz monitors aren't exactly cheap. The one I included has FreeSync (only compatible with AMD GPU's), which reduces screen tearing at certain refresh rates. Here's another option (no FreeSync, slightly cheaper): BenQ ZOWIE 24" 1080p LED Full HD 144Hz.
I swapped the 1060 6GB for an RX 580. The performance on RX 580 is slightly better than the 1060 6GB in most test cases, and it supports FreeSync (the free version of NVIDIA's G-Sync).

------
With all that being said, I've also put together another build centered around AMD Ryzen 1600. This build doesn't cost as much, and will offer competitive performance to the i5 7600k you originally selected. More importantly, the motherboard supports future AMD Processors until the year 2020, which will make upgrading in the future easy and inexpensive (Intel is dropping support for LGA1151 after this generation).

Here is the AMD Ryzen 1600 build ($80 less).

I would personally recommend the AMD build, however, you can't go wrong with either.

I have a 144hz monitor, and it is great.

I benefit greatly from the extra hz for games like CS but if you already have a 60hz monitor and play games such as PUBG, I don't think the benefits of a 144hz monitor will make a great impact on gameplay.

u/Wispberry · 2 pointsr/buildapc

Here's one that'll fit your budget: BenQ XL2411

If you are thinking about upgrading in the future, you may want to invest in a monitor that supports freesync (if upgrading to AMD) or g-sync (if upgrading to Nvidia).

u/ezPlays · 2 pointsr/PS4

Depends on the settings you want to be the best.

If you want max resolution you’ll probably take a hit to refresh rate and input delay could increase.

It sounds like you want a high res monitor, which I can’t really speak to as the one I use currently I would not recommend. If you want minimal input delay and higher refresh rate (ideal for fighting games, shooters and the like) Benq makes some outstanding gaming monitors.

Hi guys!

I'm willing to upgrade my graphics card.

Still can't decide on 1070, 1080 or 1080Ti. I was mainly thinking of the 1080 but at that price i'm wondering if i should not wait for the next nvidia GPU (1180?).

I'm gaming on a [1080p 144hz monitor.] (https://www.amazon.ca/BenQ-Monitor-Tournaments-Professional-XL2411/dp/B01H5KKQTM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1511362051&sr=8-2&keywords=benq+zowie+24)

I belive the 1080ti at 1000$(canada) is a bit overkill. What would you guys recommend.

EDIT: I'm in no rush of changing it my 1060 runs fine for now in 1080p

I'm going to pick up the QHD version tomorrow. You can't beat benQ build quality. The price is also pretty good. I don't think g synch is that big of a deal. If you are on a budget these variants could be for you. I play cs go and mobas so I don't really need g synch.

Edit: LMAO I'm retarded I didn't see that this was the exact monitor you already had LOL.
I don't know how to help you dude. I don't think there are many monitors that can beat this type.

u/crazygoalie39 · 1 pointr/Competitiveoverwatch

I can't give this BenQ monitor a higher recommendation. It's what most pros use and is fantastic for Overwatch. Essentially you want something 24", 144hz, 1ms response time.

For mouse pads, you want a large one. I use the Logitech G640, which would work well with your mouse because in the software for it, you can tune it to other Logitech mousepads, but any large mousepad like from Zowie or SteelSeries is good.

For a desk, you just want to make sure you have enough room for your large mousepad. I have this cheap Ikea desk and it works perfectly for me.

u/superlinkx · 1 pointr/razer

You can go for pretty much whatever you want, just know there's always a tug of war between graphical settings and fps.

As for my recommendation, I'd probably go with https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01H5KKQTM/ref=psd_mlt_nbc_B00MUT6SLE_rbi

BenQ's are pretty big in the esports scene, and as you can see, they're fairly reasonably priced for the featureset

u/hctheman · 1 pointr/buildapc

Alright, I see that the GPU handles 1440p @ close to 60 FPS in most newer tripple A titles & handles games on ultra setting ^1. It also handles tripple A games at a much higher FPS(75-100~) with 1080p, and by extension, esport games (dota 2, cs:go, overwatch etc) at more than 144fps. So the way I see it is that you have two choises:

  • Option one: If you care about High details & high resolution in single player games, I'd most def go for a 1440p ISP monitor. This is gonna give you a very gorgeous & detailed look in-games. It's also gonna be very great watching movies on. Something like this monitor, it's around 200 euro on Amazon, but I would try to find it locally to save on the shipping cost.

  • Option two: If your only experience gaming has been on a lapop the first option might sound tempting, but if you wanna play some competative games such as Fortnight, Cs:go, Pubg or Mobas a 144hz, 24 inch monitor with low responds time (1MS) is the way to go. It's kind of hard to explain just how significant the change from 60 to 120&144hz can be, but everything will look way smoother & the gameplay will seem more immersive. In general you're just gonna have a better experience. The details arent gonna be as clear as with a 1440p ISP panel, but it makes up for that with the fluidity of the gameplay itself. For a more thorough explanation, check out this video. This is a really good 144hz, 24 inch, 1MS, 1080p monitor

  • Option three : If you wanna have the best of both worlds, save up more money & buy a 1440p, 144hz monitor. This will give you the benifits of both, but this comes at more than double the cost of what you had in mind for the budget. Something like this should give you the best gaming experience.

Hope that gave you some insight into getting a monitor.

u/yeliazar · 1 pointr/buildapc

For a good gaming under 300 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01H5KKQTM/ref=psdc_1292115011_t3_B01H5KKRLO

UHD or 4k are better for video editing but a good UHD and 144hz 2ith 1ms are pricy however there is one that a little over 400$

https://www.amazon.com/MG28UQ-28-Inch-FreeSync-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B014X4U076/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1525150044&sr=1-6&keywords=asus%2Bgaming%2Bmonitor&th=1

I know its over your budget but it is an investment since monitors dont evolve fast like cellphones, meaning you'll be good with it for at least the next 6 years without having or even thinking about an upgrade.

u/chemiicaLL · 1 pointr/buildapc

Given you're going to be at 1080p with a reasonably powerful card for the job, just going 144hz without any G-SYNC will save you some coin. You'll likely be able to push 100+ FPS easily with most games and the screen tearing will be next to unnoticeable, especially if you've never done anything above 60hz before.

The only way you'll know you don't have G-SYNC is if you've used it before and gotten used to the luxury. Don't get me wrong though, G-SYNC is very nice and spoils you.

Repost from the comments:

Sorry, it was a bit late as I was typing this. I've gone on PCPartpicker, and I've looked at a few options, just wondering what everyone here thought.

I currently have an RX480 8GB, will be building a new pc in the coming months and probably will be upgrading that to a GTX 1080/1180(or whatever the next gen is called).

The models I'm currently looking at are:

Asus MG248Q

LG 24GM79G-B

BenQ XL2411P

AOC G2460PF

I presently have one 1080p 60Hz 1ms refresh rate monitor that I will be keeping until a time comes when I can get a 3rd 144hz, but right now that's just not in the budget.

Of those 4 models, which would you pick?

Hey, The_MonBear,

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Ffhb3b Will provide you with a PC that is compatible with and without your hypothetical 980TI, and will also have an SSD in case the one you use for your Xbox does not have matching connectors or SATA ports (don't know why, but some add-ons are strange and are incompatible with certain setups.) It also provides a setup that is very clean are cable-management friendly, as I have friends who have used this case in similar mid-range builds.

If you want, I included a reliable Flash drive for transferring files and booting a copy of windows off of.

If you need to have a more in-depth guide on your building process that uses near-identical components t this PC, I recommend Joey delgado's Ryzen 5 2600 build ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98ujnl1_hW0)

The 580 and the 980Ti have very similar performance outputs, but depending on your budget and your card type, buy a free sync monitor (AMD GPU but about +$50 per 60/144/240 Hz increase) or G-sync (Nvidia but a ~$200 + every 60/144/240 Hz upgrade)

A 1440p 144Hz monitor would not fit in your budget, as it would make your build $1100+ save it be some very unreliable purchases. If you want any monitors I have a few I'd recommend:

1080p 75Hz: https://www.amazon.com/Sceptre-E248W-19203R-Monitor-Speakers-Metallic/dp/B0773ZY26F/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=1080p+to+hz+monitor&qid=1556595028&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1

1080p 144Hz: https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Response-Equalizer-Vibrance-Adjustable/dp/B01H5KKQTM/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=1080p+to+hz+monitor&qid=1556595028&s=gateway&sr=8-3

1440p 60Hz: https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-GL2706PQ-Black-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B06XDQ2RRQ/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=1440p+60hz&qid=1556595119&s=gateway&sr=8-1

You can use windows without a product key, you just will have a watermark in the right-hand corner of the screen at all times. if you NEED a product key, I recommend you use a reputable site that someone else or yourself may research, otherwise you just have watermarked windows with fewer customization options.

Hope you find this build guide very helpful!

1x8 2400mhz is around 40 bucks

but I'd probably swap out the 1x8 that is in there for faster 2x8gb 2666mhz or 3000mhz RAM. The faster ram will help boost the performance of the ryzen 5 2600 cpu and really make the machine more complete. Would be an 80 dollar upgrade

as for monitor, something like this would be good https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Response-Equalizer-Vibrance-Adjustable/dp/B01H5KKQTM/ref=sr_1_10?keywords=1080p+144hz+monitor&qid=1555388507&s=gateway&sr=8-10#customerReviews

BenQ

You can choose one of those three, or even spend more 50/70$ (maybe) and go for a 240hz. And you also can choose other brands or models, just reed some reviews before buy.

u/getintheVandell · 1 pointr/buildapc

My final question - do you know if there's a discernable difference between the two monitor? (The older BenQ and the newer BenQ Zowie)

Specifically..

Older model -- https://www.amazon.ca/BenQ-XL2411-24-Inch-Led-Lit-14700510/dp/B00ITORITU/ref=dp_ob_title_ce?th=1

Newer model -- https://www.amazon.ca/BenQ-XL2411-24-Inch-Led-Lit-14700510/dp/B01H5KKQTM/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

There's less details about the newer model, which is frustrating, but I'm fairly certain they're roughly the same (save the price).

u/T_Fouts · 1 pointr/buildapc

No worries, I figured it would be good if I explained my reasoning for the part choice. In my opinion, if you have the money to spend, 144hz is definitely worth the investment. The 144hz experience is very smooth and fast. Hz refers to refresh rate, or the number of times the screen changes per second. Thus, 144hz will be faster, smoother, and better all around. They are a bit more expensive then your average 60hz though. The two 144hz monitors I'd personally recommend are the [Asus VG248QE] (https://www.amazon.com/VG248QE-1920x1080-144Hz-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1479966681&sr=1-1&keywords=asus+vg248qe) and the [BenQ XL2411Z] (https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-24-Inch-Tournaments-Professional-XL2411/dp/B01H5KKQTM/ref=dp_ob_title_ce). Both are fantastic monitors however the BenQ monitor come with more features which can be found on their website. In conclusion, yes, I would say that purchasing a 144hz monitor is very worth it if you have the money to spend.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Wit ha 144Hz display like https://www.amazon.fr/dp/B01H5KKQTM/ the price of Windows makes indeed a difference. You could maybe buy Windows in Germany, where it is cheaper, or downgrade the gpu to a GTX 1070.

The case is not flashy at all, the cooler is quiet. You said you won't overclock and you do not have to, but that build is overclockable. For 144Hz gaming that is just better, especially in a few years.

I'm not too experienced with different monitors, but in my opinion 144Hz is really nice to have, the game feels much smoother. I own one myself This one but I'd recommend That one

The one I own isn't really better than the one I recommend performance wise, but I liked it more aesthetically.

So maybe you could see if you can get these BenQ's somewhere. Also if you see some Monitors from Zowie, they are most likely the same as the BenQ's
Hope that helps :)

Edit: I play CS:GO aswell and I never want to go back to 60Hz. So if you are able to get stable 120-144fps or more I'd go for 144Hz monitor.

Also how much could I overclock this CPU while still keeping the temperatures at a healthy level in the small form factor build?

u/Ulfsark · 1 pointr/OverwatchUniversity

I paid $280 for my 144hz that is 24" and it is one of the cheaper ones. You can get them for less on sales.

Personally I think you should get a cheap 22-24" monitor for like $150. and then save up for a 144hz. Once you get the new monitor the cheap one can become a second monitor for you which is always nice to have.

This is the 144hz screen I have, but I have the older version.

Here are some decent budget/entry level ones:

u/Blurpro395 · 1 pointr/Monitors

Well then, if your budget is 280, you have a lot of room. For GTA and the other games you play besides CS:GO, I reckon you will want something with at least decent picture quality. I'm saying this because the VG248QE is not worth $279.

While researching a bit, this monitor looks very promising: https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Response-eQualizer-Adjustable-XL2411P/dp/B01H5KKQTM?th=1

u/williamthebastardd · 1 pointr/buildapc

Woops, thank you for pointing that out! I meant this monitor.

u/devious00 · 1 pointr/gaming

I was really interested in buying the RoG Swift PG248Q actually because I wanted to stay true to my RoG system build (running a RoG Mobo + GPU) and was hoping to get something with G-Sync but the monitors price skyrockets when G-Sync is involved so I decided it wasn't worth the extra cost. If I could have afforded it I would have definitely went for it, and for now I'm fine sitting at 1080p. I'm just hoping the lack of G-Sync doesn't bite me in the ass.

So instead I went with a BenQ Zowie XL2411P while it was on sale. I currently run two BenQ monitors and they've kept me happy, albeit at 60hz, so I hope a 144hz BenQ will keep the happiness trend going.

Yet again, thank you for your great response. I am starting understand a little more clearly now. After what you pointed out, I shouldn't buy the first monitor I linked. This is my second option: https://www.amazon.com/BenQ-Response-eQualizer-Adjustable-XL2411P/dp/B01H5KKQTM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1521566483&sr=8-1&keywords=benq+24+in+144hz+monitor.
Would this one be a better fit and be able to support the mini-dp to dp cable that you suggested?

This is what I have. It's not talked about much on here, but it has been perfect for me and I really love how it looks.

Hey,

you dont benefit from it if u dont get 144fps, so at the moment its not worth it if u would only play PUBG.
If u play csgo for example and u get 144fps its a huge difference to a 60hz monitor, its a complete new game!

Just checked the monitor u are considering, i never heard or saw someone using this. It doesnt mean the monitor is bad but I would recommend you this monitor:

I am able to get the benQ for the same price as the asus.

Also what kind of price range am I looking to get the most using the least amount of money out of the 144hz pc build wise?

All I play is overwatch on a surface pro 3 so I'm tired of 30fps haha

u/Safkoo · 1 pointr/buildapc
I'll start off by saying $2500 will get you 5x what you need to play these games, the PC I built for about $930 after rebates and all runs H1Z1 at an average of about 110 fps on a 1920×1200 monitor. However, if you so pursue to spend this much money and that is your wish I have some opinions on the build. I would go the GTX 1070 to save some cash, the 1080 is certainly overkill. I would upgrade your RAM to 16GB DDR4, that is something that is very nice and almost necessary to run some games efficiently nowadays (I know a friend who plays H1Z1 on 8GB of ddr3 RAM and he complains it is always is capping out for him and causing FPS lag, I don't know if this is from H1Z1 alone but alone H1 uses 4GB or RAM on average. This isn't accounting for anything else you may be doing. Next, with that budget get a better PSU, I would recommend a modular, 650-800W PSU that is gold plated such as this. If you can afford to get a nice PSU it is worth ensuring all your stuff won't get fried or damaged in the long run. The only other thing I got would be the monitors(s) portion. I play COD competitively and also take some games very seriously on PC so for me I personally would get a BenQ 144hz monitor, but that is a preference of mine... and I also prefer to stay away from Dell monitors, go get anything but Dell in my opinion. Hope I helped!

If you want to go a little more budget, you can try to find an XL2430T, which is outdated but it's the monitor I currently use, and it's amazing. Good luck!

u/Szkye · 1 pointr/GlobalOffensive

BenQ G series don't support 144hz. You bought a 60hz monitor, not a 144hz. You need to get at least a X series monitor, like this one

edit: I didn't read the full post. There's quite a significant and really noticeable difference on the blurrines on your movement. I don't really understand why you went back to 60hz after using 144hz, I guess you might have just not used it in the first place. Shit happens.

u/tenfootgiant · 1 pointr/Monitors

I just ordered the Benq XL2411 and it arrives tomorrow. I had the 120hz 3D XL2410T when it came out years ago and I've used it for several years without issue. I'll let you know if you don't get any better advise. Though the one you linked has Freesync which this one does not. Another note that the one you mentioned has Display Port if that matters to you as well.

Which monitor you end up getting is up to you. Remember to read reviews, not just the ones on Amazon but on tech review sites as well. And don't limit yourself to just these two, do plenty of your own research. These were just the top results on Amazon for "BenQ 144Hz".

u/Mimtos · 1 pointr/buildapc

This was on sale recently for $300. It's basically not what you asked for except the price range but its a really damn good deal for a quality 144hz 27 inch 1440p monitor. So do check it out! For what you'are actually looking for, this is one of the better budget 144hz monitors out there. Since your range seems large, I'd recommend you not do a budget monitor and get this. This would probably be the most expensive monitor you could get that fits your choice. But overall I gave you a suggestion choice, low end, mid end,and high end. As long as you're not getting a VA panel, you'll never experience ghosting.

Benq Zowie 24" 144hz, only thing is that you'll have to tweak the colors at first, because it comes with really bad color by default.

1080p would be great, you can get better fps because of the lower resolution, you'll still get great quality. I think 1440p are only available at 27".

If you are serious about learning where the "small differences" happen that everyone talks about, I will try to explain them. I hope this gives you a better understanding of how games and technology works "behind the scenes".

Okay, first we are going to start with your question. Short answer: Yes, probably. Important part is finding/knowing what the right monitor is. I chose the 27" version of this monitor for my gaming PC. Two important features of it for us is the 1ms (millisecond, 1000 per second) response time and 144hz refresh rate. (NOTE: "standard" monitor response time is 5-20ms, with most TV's being slower (10-50ms). "standard" refresh rate for monitors and TV's is both 60hz.)

The response time is the time it takes for the TV to display the input you gave the game console, and the refresh rate is how many times the picture is updated on the TV each second. Also make sure your TV is set to Progressive scan and not Interlaced (the 720p, 720i, 1080p 1080i difference). In most cases(almost all) 720p is actually better than 1080i if you have an older TV that doesn't support 1080p by chance. SO, REMEMBER: Low ms input lag is best, and high hz refresh rate is best. Double Important: PS4 and Xbox One maxes out at 60fps in games. (hz is the limit for fps, so console Fortnite maxes at 60fps but PC maxes out at 240fps+ for top-of-the-line gaming PCs.) This is the #1 reason that "console pros" have still switched over to PC and play with controller. I'm not in any way trying to shame console players, I'm just trying to clearly explain what the "disadvantages" are and why. Because they directly relate to the discussion at hand.

Quick History Lesson: Basically, TV's have had a long history of different "input lag" issues plauging not ony cheaper TV's, with many having ridiculously long input lag. While trying to google a few examples I found something better, a reddit post specifically talking about reducing input lag on PS4. Bonus: I also found another good link comparing TV refresh rates so you can see how much they can vary, with 10-15ms being the standard good score, and some TV's reaching 140ms input lag when they aren't in Game Mode (another setting to check on the TV).

So, what your goal of investigating from here is researching your TV's model and seeing if you can find information about its input lag times and compare them to the numbers here. Input lag is the first "issue" you want to solve, if you have it (My personal metrics would be, if it has higher than 20ms input lag then it is the first thing you should replace, but if it only has 5-10ms input lag it's not worth upgrading to 1ms unless you are upgrading all the way to a gaming PC). Alright, so hopefully I clearly explained how and why input lag and refresh rate are and what you can and can't do about it in your current situation.

Also is your internet Wired or Wireless to your PS4? If it is wireless you need to switch over to wired. I might write another post about that if you are genuinely interested. :)

Edit: Bonus if your house is cold a lot, you can usually buy big packs of these hand warmers for a big discount, I think I got like 15 of these Large-Sized hand warmers for like $4.50. This is a secret Korean strategy not many people know about, but warming up your hands before your matches so you have better blood flow can make a big difference in how quickly/precisely you are able to execute maneuvers. All my gamer friends try to go home with a pack or two of my hand warmers, and yes the big ones last for 18 hours (I like them better than the smaller 10 hour ones).

Down to personal preference. Personally I prefer high framerate over high resolution. You might not. If you have a chance, try 144hz monitor. My take is that it feels a lot better, enough to take over 2k resolution.

If you decide for 144hz, Benq does make some decent monitors, xl2411 for one. A little problem with colors of course, being 144hz low budget monitor and all that.

It's pretty tough finding a monitor nowadays that doesn't go up to 1080p. If you're aiming for that much FPS you're going to need a monitor with a high refresh rate which doesn't come cheap. You can always lower your resolution and graphics in the game settings.

This monitor has an extremely fast response time for your multiplayer games, supports up to 144 FPS, and has pretty good colors for a TN panel. $200

This monitor has the same specs but supports up to 240 FPS. $250

This monitor is by far the cheapest again for similar specs, but only supports up to 75 FPS and has weaker colors. $130

This one is the most expensive but supports 240 FPS, freesync, tilts, swivels, and is by far more reliable than any of these other ones will be. $340

Be warned you get what you pay for. It's also worth looking around craigslist or ebay for used monitors and researching a little more for what you want.

>The BenQ XL2411P is only $199.99 on Amazon right now. This monitor is by far the best for the money and now with it only being $200, you should not wait. Just got a tax return? Use it toward getting a CRT like experience on netplay. Recently I discovered new advancements towards massively reducing motion blur via strobing and this monitor in particular is one of the best at using these new anti-motion blur techniques while staying lag free even over netplay. I'm about to make a big post on how to use strobing to get CRT motion clarity over netplay and it's mainly going to be with this monitor. Coincidentally, it just so happens to be on sale and I know a lot of you are getting tax refunds. So it's the perfect time.
