Well I have an Asus motherboard that has Aura Sync. I know that the CableMod RGB LEDs are Aura Sync compatible, so they can connect to the motherboard or PSU, but I'm looking for white LEDs. I'm taking a look at the bitfenix alchemy 2.0 white LED strips but I'm concerned that it might too short for the case.

Sure. I'll compare part by part.

  • CPU: We picked the same one for the price-to-performance.

  • CPU Cooler: I didn't pick one because the Ryzen 7 1700 comes with a cooler on its own that is very, very good (making an extra one unnecessary money spent that could be used somewhere else). The stock cooler is RGB enabled and is a fan, not a liquid AIO.

  • Motherboard: The one I chose and the one he chose have the same chipset (B350), but MSI is more reliable of a brand compared to ASRock. I've never had issues with MSI components, but have had plenty of problems with ASRock, especially their motherboards. The one he picked may be good, but I avoid them out of principle. Just read reviews for it and see what you think.

  • Memory: I've never heard of GeIL as a company, so I avoided their stuff. Corsair makes solid stuff, and this RAM is very good (I have similar Corsair RAM in my rig).

  • Storage: ADATA is pretty good, and the primary difference between the SSD I put and he put is that mine is a M.2-2280 form factor and his is a 2.5". The M.2 cuts down on cables since it's plugged into the motherboard directly, and it is faster than the 2.5". Ultimately, that just comes down to preference in parts, and I prefer M.2, but you can go either way. For the HDD, we picked the same one.

  • Video Card: This is the one that you included, so we have the same one.

  • Case: I went wit the black elite version of the same case. Differences include the side panel (the Elite has a large tempered glass side panel and the original just has a normal window), and some changes to the dust filters and other things. You can go with the non-elite and it'll look just fine.

  • PSU: The PSU provided in the other build has DISGUSTING looking cables. You mentioned aesthetics being important, and those cables coming from that PSU would wreck the look of the rest of the components due to the ketchup-and-mustard cables. The flat black cables provided with the PSU I put will not intrude on the look of everything else.

  • Other: You really don't need this part at all. The NZXT HUE+ and those fans adds a TON of extra RGB to your rig, but it won't be necessary at all. If you want LEDs, check out these strips from Bitfenix.

For liquid cooling, don't be scared. All that those AIOs do is cool your CPU further than any fan would.

Any way to know for sure if a PSU comes with a molex adapter? Is it almost always standard?

Planning on connecting this light strip to this PSU.

I couldn't find the exact ones I'm using, maybe they sold out on Amazon or something, but it's similar to this and thanks, I like it on the white case too. It's a much softer light in person, kinda just has a faint purple glow over my parts, this was a long exposure shot.

If you mean LED fan, Corsair makes some white LED fans. You can usually find some pretty decent LED case fans for about $10 per fan for the 120mm size. The slightly larger 140mm fans I think are $15 - $16 per fan.

If you mean LED strips, I've used these. Some of the cheaper LED strips use adhesive to stick to the case, and can only be placed once, so if you wanted to move it, it's a bit of a pain, or you have to get a new strip. However, these ones use magnets, so you can reposition them wherever you want. For about $5 - $10 more, CableMod sells some RGB LED strips that are magnetic, if you care about being able to change their color.

> Just started ordering parts and realized I also need to buy some white LED's. Any suggestions?

You could leave the LEDs for a start and see how bright the case fans, motherboard & video card are. If you then still want more LEDs I would recommend the Bitfenix Alchemy. I've personally been using the bitfenix (1.0) LEDs for over 2 years now and they're still going strong. This new version got magnets on the strip, which means it can stick to the case without needing to "tape it".

I never really liked to use these strips because this means that you have to use a molex plug. I dislike those a lot! xD Those are hard to hide for most cases, but the S340 should have no problem for this.

It's a magnetic LED strip by BitFenix:

It's powered via a molex connector of the PSU, but I just used a SATA to molex adapter to connect it.

Here you go. An all white overclockable build as requested.

I went with more storage than I thought you would need, it can easily be trimmed back. The power supply is a good price right now, enough overhead for any single gpu, and has a 10 year warranty.

Take a look at something like this for easy lighting.
