Those kits are super popular because you get a lot of stuff for a little $$. But as you mention, its not the best quality stuff. I would get one that includes most of the accessories you'd buy on your own, a case to hold all of your crap in, and a good amount of sticky mounts, clips, and thumbscrews [its nice to treat them as disposable sometimes]
