It has been working well for me in wet sand.
From what I've read, pinpoint detectors are very useful. I don't have one myself yet, but I am saving for one. I'm thinking about Garrett Pro Pointer (about $130).
For $200 I would recommend Garrett Ace 250 or the Bounty Hunter.
I haven't used either, but I did read good reviews on both of them. Although I would lean more towards the Garrett.
