I Was in Georgia last week and am going back this summer, that'll be my third trip. I work with the Norwegian scouts and we have an ongoing project with Azerbaijani and Georgian scouts. This summer we'll be attending a camp in Batumi before we head to Azerbaijan and hike trough the countryside.

For starters, check out the lonely planet guidebook for Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia(a single volume). Also, wikitravel. A great book to read about hiking Georgia is "Bread and Ashes: a walk trough the mountains of Georgia".

Anything special you want to know?

EDIT: Visa was not a problem for me, I also got by fine in Tbilisi without any knowledge of russian. In the countryside, especially a remote place like Ushguli, you'll need a guide and/or interpreter.
