Brewing With Wheat. Great book, but you'll get the most out of it if you feel comfortable taking some basic parameters and building a recipe yourself.
Radical Brewing. Lots of weird stuff, but I thought it was surprisingly strong on the basics, too.
Brewing Classic Styles. Good resource for tried and true recipes. One or two recipes for each BJCP style might be either a strength or a weakness, depending on how varied your brewing interests are.

In addition to the books mentioned here, there are plenty of style and ingredient specific books out there.
Two of my favorite books are the style books by Terry Foster. His Pale Ale and Brewing Porters and Stouts are really great.
Heck, the second brewing book I ever bought was Heironymous' Brewing with Wheat, awesome book that I keep referring back to.
Right now, I'm working my way through New Brewing Lager Beer by Greg Noonan. It's very dense and technical, but I see it as a must read for where I'm at in my brewing.
Brewing With Wheat is a great book. He talks about the problem of wheat beers clarifying over time. Commercial brewers use the same chemicals as Mountain Dew to keep proteins suspended. Citrus is a flavor that likes to drop out as well.
He also mentioned they don't like to admit they do it.
