I partially agree with what the user below said. There's still a massive difference between DSLR photography and a phone even with all the features phones have nowadays. Even for small family events, I'll carry around my T3i 28mm f/2.8. I take all family photos with my DSLR and I wouldn't trade them for phone pictures any day.

If your girlfriend isn't concerned about quality at all, then I'd save the money as you said below.

If your girlfriend has plans to use that more often and is concerned about the quality, I'd highly recommend buying an older refurbished camera or something new like this:

However, if you can save up just a couple hundred more, the T7i would be an excellent investment:

I still have my T3i from 2011 and it still produces beautiful photos. If your GF will take care of her equipment, the T7i could easily last her 10+ years.

With all this said, I would also like to say that I am VERY biased. I am a professional photographer (weddings, corporate events, cars, and I help my girls on Instagram produce content for companies), so I almost always have a DSLR on me. I've considered buying a T7i just to have with me at all times - that's how much DSLR photography means to my daily life.

Well considering the T3i can do every single one of those things that you requested, another T3i would be perfect. You can pick up another one used in nice condition for ~$330. KEH is an extremely reputable used camera seller, so you won't need to worry about getting something that's not working. If anything, the equipment is in even better condition than they say it is.

If you want better video autofocus capabilities, the brand new T7i gives you superior autofocus while in video and allows you to shoot in 1080p60. Edit: Apparently Amazon sells/ships that camera for the same price, but I'm unable to see it because I'm not a Prime member, but if you look for it you can find it directly from Amazon rather than from a 3rd party.

u/christixn09 - every Canon DSLR after the 2018-era 80D (to include the less expensive T7i and SL2) records to 1080/60p.

Yesterday, they released a 90D that records at 1080/120p and 2160/30p.

Hope this is helpful and good luck finding what you're looking for.

> Point to where in the FAQ it says if what I am asking is a good deal?

I linked the specific sections that relate exactly to what you're asking.

I mean if you can't do the math to understand that the T7i retails for $749, the EF-S 55-250 retails for $299, the bundle you linked is $899 and the FAQ tells you about bundles, what else could you possibly be asking?

You have also not specified a budget for "other options," which both the FAQ and rules say to do. The FAQ also tells you how to decide what kind of camera you should get regarding mirrorless vs. DSLR.

So yes, the FAQ fully answers your questions.
