> Per my last OYS my wife wants to start working out as well. I told my wife I would sign her up for the gym at LA Fitness. She said she wants to see if she can start going to the apartment gym before she does this. (I figured this is what she would want. I offered per recommendation by rockandrollchuck).

Excellent! Well, the offer is on the table so give her some time and let's see what she does.

>Last Thursday I did candy binge since there was a lot at work because of Halloween. To punish myself I did not eat dinner that night. It sucked but it also helped me manage my calorie goals. I was also prepared to do it again if I had to which helped me resist my cravings. I ate some cotton candy at a corn maze I went to with my wife, aunt, and a 4 and 8-year-old but we walked like 2.5 miles and I jumped around in a bouncy house so hopefully that burned it off.

Yeah, I had a relapse with candy last week as well. I'm back to avoiding sugar because that's the only way I'm able to be successful. The older you get the more important it becomes.

>My wife has had a few mental breakdowns this week. At her OBGYN appointment last Friday, they told her her eggs were fine and her body is showing no signs of endometriosis. She was relieved to hear this but they still did not identify the source of the pain. They thought it may be a kidney stone per her symptoms and they found blood in her urine. They prescribed her antibiotics. Since then the physical pain has increased in her side and back and she scheduled an appointment at the urologist for today. They drew blood and tested her urine here as well. They found no blood in the urine this time but they also said there is nothing they can do for her today so she has been stressing out.

If she thinks it might be a kidney stone then you might get her some of this and see if it helps. A few other things to consider:

  • How much water does she drink? My wife used to have back and kidney problems. She drinks at least 64 oz of water every day before work in addition to what she drinks throughout the day and her symptoms went away.

  • How much sugar/bread/carbs does she eat? Especially sweets?

  • How much cardio is she doing daily? My wife notices a huge difference when she does more cardio, it helps with stress-related/emotional-related pain in the body.

  • She might have developed a sensitivity to gluten, so maybe you can convince her to try a gluten-free diet for a while and see if it makes a difference.

  • If it's related to menstrual issues, she can try supplementing daily with Vitamin K1 and K2. She can also try taking one rounded tablespoon of ground flaxseed daily.

  • If it's related to gut issues, a quality probiotic supplement can help. Look for one with a variety of different strains, and go for the non-refrigerated kind.

    >One thing that has annoyed me this week is the topic of Tithing. I personally do not believe in it because I do not feel like paying a "congregations" light bill. But she is dead set on giving 10% a month to Transformation Church (a church we watch on Youtube from time to time). I am not going to stop her because if that is her way of serving and growing closer to God,

Well, as Christians we are free to give or not give. 2 Corinthians 9:5-8 says

Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren to go to you ahead of time, and prepare your generous gift beforehand, which you had previously promised, that it may be ready as a matter of generosity and not as a grudging obligation.

6 But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

Personally I think it's best to give to a local congregation that you're attending weekly. Do you have a local church you attend?

    >but if she is going to invest 10% I would rather her invest it in an ATL sex trafficking agency or actually help people in need in our social circles. (We gave 250$ to her aunt so she could pay her car note and 80$ to one of my friends so he did not get kicked out of his motel). He is one of my old druggie friends. Since then I guess he felt indebted and asked if I wanted to come over and smoke and drink with him. I told him politely I put that lifestyle behind me but I will happily have him over for dinner and cards one night. He wants to come over, I just need to set up a date.

I firmly believe that we should support ministries that share the Gospel first and foremost, and then do other good works as we are able after that has been satisfied. Remember to put your own oxygen mask on first though: make sure you're not shorting yourself on your bills to help others who are not being responsible. You do want to buy a house, right?

Also note that this same friend who "needed" $80 to avoid getting kicked out of a motel apparently has enough money for smoke and drink, but not paying motel rent. Think about that, and be careful not to enable him to live a sinful lifestyle. Also be especially careful that you don't get into a situation where a guy like that loses his place to stay and "just needs to stay with you a few days." It will likely end up being a huge strain on your marriage and a drain on your resources. Something tells me that you will have to make this choice soon, and if faced with it my advice would be to say no.

    >Tom and Red together ended up being a great poetic matchup and changed her perspective on a lot of things so I am very grateful.

    Amen!

    >She supports me in pursuing The Great Commission but I do not think she fully comprehends her role of taking a part in it as well at my side yet. Tom and Red mentioned this but for some reason, she has a big wall towards interacting with new people.

Once she sees you living it out daily, faithfully, she will get on board.
